Georgia football DB enters transfer portal

Georgia Bulldogs defensive back Hugh Nelson has entered into the NCAA transfer portal.

Georgia Bulldogs defensive back Hugh Nelson, a redshirt sophomore, has entered into the NCAA transfer portal. Nelson is looking for a new home.

Nelson will be immediately eligible at his new school (like all transfers this offseason), if he decides to transfer away from Georgia. He graduates in May of 2021 and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

He walked on to the football team in 2018 and took a redshirt that season while he primarily served as a key scout team player. In fact, Nelson won the Defensive Scout Team Player of the Year award for his effort in 2018.

Nelson appeared in the Arkansas State game in the 2019 season, but did not play in any games during 2020. Before coming to the University of Georgia, Nelson ran track and played football during his time at Hillgrove High School.

UGA football CB Tyson Campbell declares for 2021 NFL Draft

Georgia Bulldogs cornerback Tyson Campbell is entering the 2021 NFL Draft.

Georgia Bulldogs cornerback Tyson Campbell is entering the 2021 NFL Draft. Campbell joins fellow Georgia starting cornerback Eric Stokes in entering the NFL Draft.

Tyson Campbell came to the University of Georgia as a highly touted five-star recruit. Campbell helped lead American Heritage High School (Plantation, Florida) to a state championship in 2017.

Kirby Smart, Dan Lanning, and the defensive staff will have their hands full trying to rebuild the secondary for the 2021 season. Both Campbell and Stokes are projected to be selected in the first few rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft. It is tough to replace that level of talent, but fortunately, Georgia as several elite recruits to fill in the void.

UGA football senior DL announces 2021 return

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt is returning for another senior season at the University of Georgia

Georgia Bulldogs defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt is returning for another senior season at the University of Georgia. He came to Athens after spending time at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas.

Wyatt was a four-star prospect coming out of Towers High School in Decatur, Georgia. He was similarly rated coming out of Hutchinson.

Wyatt played in 12 games during the 2018 season, during which he recorded 19 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He stepped up his game in 2019 and was a key factor in the Bulldogs’ No. 1-rated run defense. Wyatt had one sack as well in 2019.

This season, Wyatt recorded 21 tackles and several pressures. He started at defensive tackle for much of the year.

The senior defensive lineman has NFL potential, but is choosing to stay in Athens for another chance at the College Football Playoff. Wyatt announced his decision via his Twitter account:

Kirby Smart and Georgia have a defensive boost with Wyatt’s return. The Dawgs are still losing several players in the secondary to the NFL Draft, but have the talent to fill in the gaps.

Georgia football’s Trey Hill enters 2021 NFL Draft

Junior Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Trey Hill is entering into the 2021 NFL Draft. Hill was a key starter at UGA.

Junior Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Trey Hill is entering into the 2021 NFL Draft. Hill began the season as the only returning member of Georgia’s starting offensive line. The Houston County High School product helped Georgia weather the storm and helped the Bulldogs put together some impressive offensive line performances as a unit.

Trey Hill is 6 feet, 4 inches, and is one of the best centers in the 2021 NFL Draft. Impressively, No. 55 has already graduated from the University of Georgia. He is truly a man on a mission.

Hill was named second team All-SEC following his impressive 2019 performance. Unfortunately in 2020 his season was cut short due to injury. Georgia got a preview of how life would be like without Hill in the Peach Bowl. The Bulldogs struggled to consistently run the football against Cincinnati.

Offensive line coach Matt Luke may have his hands full once again in terms of replacing elite talent. Offensive guard Ben Cleveland is also entering into the NFL Draft. Justin Shaffer, a senior, additionally faces an NFL Draft decision.

Trey Hill came to Athens as a four or five star recruit depending on the scouting service and has easily lived up to his touted billing. He announced his decision to declare for the 2021 NFL Draft via his Twitter account:

The Buford High School graduate came to the University of Georgia as a four-star long snapper recruit and the No. 21 long snapper in his class. Vega helped the Buford Wolves win four straight regional championships, including a couple of state championship appearances. Vega also wrestled in high school in addition to playing football.

Vega’s decision is a reminder that not all players who enter the portal are guaranteed to leave UGA. Although, former Georgia Bulldogs Kolby Wyatt and Makiya Tongue have both already found new homes this offseason.

That being said, all players who do transfer this offseason will be immediately eligible at their new schools. This offseason should see a ton of roster management between players going pro, other players potentially transferring, or seniors returning for one more year.

Georgia football tight end picks transfer destination

Georgia Bulldogs tight end Kolby Wyatt is transferring to the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors football program.

Georgia Bulldogs tight end Kolby Wyatt entered the NCAA transfer portal following UGA’s loss to Florida. Now, Kolby Wyatt has decided to transfer to the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors football program. It’s a long ways away from Athens for Wyatt, but he is from San Deigo, California, so he won’t be too far from there.

We wish Wyatt the best at Hawaii. The Rainbow Warriors typically sport an explosive passing offense, so hopefully Wyatt can find significant playing time for Hawaii.

Tre’ McKitty, Darnell Washington and John FitzPatrick have received the majority of playing time at tight end for the Bulldogs this season. Four-star tight end Brock Bowers has additionally committed to Georgia. Wyatt has seen minimal action this season after playing in three games in 2019.

Wyatt, a junior, began his career at UGA as a defensive lineman, but switched numbers and positions last season. He has two years of eligibility left following this season.

College football is projected to have a lot of transfers following this season, so be prepared for more to come.

Another UGA football WR enters the transfer portal: Makiya Tongue

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Makiya Tongue has entered into the NCAA’s transfer portal

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Makiya Tongue has entered into the NCAA’s transfer portal. Tongue redshirted in 2019. Last year, he played against Arkansas State, Georgia Tech, and Murray State, but this season he didn’t see the field. It was harder to work in as many depth players this season because of Georgia’s conference-only schedule.

Tongue joins Georgia wide receiver Trey Blount in the NCAA transfer portal. The duo will be looking for new homes, but can still comeback to Athens. The NCAA is allowing the 2020 season to not count against eligibility, so there will be a ton of roster management this offseason. Seniors can come back to school and create a squeeze on roster spots for incoming freshman or transfers.

Tongue played both receiver and defense (safety/outside linebacker) in high school for University Lab. Tongue came to the University of Georgia as a four-star recruit. We wish him the best moving forward and will provide updates on his transfer destination.

Tongue’s dad, Reggie, played in the NFL for several seasons, playing primarily for the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks. Before the NFL, Reggie Tongue played for the Oregon State Beavers.

Another Georgia player enters the transfer portal: long snapper JC Vega

Georgia Bulldogs long snapper/offensive lineman JC Vega has entered into the NCAA’s transfer portal.

Georgia Bulldogs long snapper JC Vega redshirted last season as a freshman. Now, Vega has entered into the NCAA’s transfer portal.

The Buford High School product came to the University of Georgia as a four-star long snapper recruit and the 21st rated long snapper in his class. Vega helped the Buford Wolves win four straight regional championships including a couple of state championship appearances. Vega also wrestled and bass fished in high school.

We’ll update you if Vega decides to transfer elsewhere. Vega will look to earn more playing time at his next college football destination. Not all players who enter the portal are guaranteed to leave UGA.

Georgia Bulldogs tight end Kolby Wyatt has entered into the NCAA transfer portal.

Georgia Bulldogs tight end Kolby Wyatt (No. 82) has entered into the NCAA transfer portal following last week’s loss to Florida. No University of Georgia tight end recorded a catch against the Gators in a rough game for the position.

Tre’ McKitty, Darnell Washington, and John FitzPatrick have received the majority of playing time at tight end for the Bulldogs this season.

Wyatt likely wants to earn more playing time elsewhere. He’s seen minimal action this season after playing in three games in 2019.
