Top-100 recruit expands list, includes Georgia football in final eight

Georgia football was included in the top-eight of an elite 4-star recruit.

Kaine Williams, a 4-star safety in the class of 2021, has included Georgia in his top-eight schools.

Williams initially released a final cut of six schools, which included Georgia. In his tweet on Wednesday, Williams mentioned that no school dropped out of his top-six, however, he did add two schools to his list: Florida State and Texas.

His new top-eight includes LSU, Alabama, Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Florida State and Georgia.

Williams, out of John Ehret High School in Marrero, Louisiana, ranks as the nation’s No. 95 overall player and the No. 3 safety in the country.

Right now, according to 247Sports, Williams is viewed as an LSU lean. The Tigers will be a tough program to beat out seeing as how they routinely produce some of the nation’s top defensive backs and are located just 45 minutes from his home.

Williams recently told Rivals that he plans to commit either at the end of May or the beginning of August.

Georgia football hosting a number of elite recruits this weekend

Georgia football has a plethora of big time recruits in Athens this weekend.

Though Georgia football currently has the 3rd ranked recruiting class in the 2020 cycle, Kirby Smart and the Dawgs are not done yet.

With February’s National Signing Day just around the corner, Georgia did a good job of getting some of these big time recruits on campus, including two committed, but unsigned prospects.

Here is a list of the official visitors, according to Matt DeBary of DawgPost.

5-star offensive tackle Broderick Jones is in town. Jones, the nation’s No. 14 overall player and 2nd ranked offensive tackle, is committed to Georgia but has not yet signed. Right now Auburn is Georgia’s threat, and the Lithonia native plans on visiting there next weekend.

Sedrick Van Pran is a 4-star center out of New Orleans and is also currently committed to Georgia but unsigned. Per DawgPost, offensive line coach Matt Luke and wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton visited Van Pran this past week at his home. He is expected to visit Florida next weekend. He is the No. 114 overall player in this class.

4-star offensive tackle Tate Ratledge is a Georgia signee out of Rome, Georgia. The No. 35 overall player in the 2020 class will be doing the best he can to help the Dawgs recruit this weekend.

Another offensive lineman in town is 3-star offensive tackle Austin Blaske, another Georgia signee.

With the Zach Evans recruitment going the way that it is, Georgia is hosting 4-star running back Daijun Edwards‍. Edwards is the No. 254 overall player in the country and comes from Moultrie, Georgia. If Edwards does end up being a Dawg, he would join 5-star back Kendall Milton.

3-star athlete DJ Lundy out of Ocilla, Georgia is in town this weekend as well. Lundy, who plays both linebacker and running back in high school, will likely suit up at linebacker.

Cameron Kinnie is a 3-star defensive tackle out Suwanee, Georgia. The 6-3, 265 pounder is also receiving interest from Iowa State, Syracuse and others.

3-star safety Charles Bell VI  out of Gaithersburg, Maryland is in town and is also receiving strong interest from West Virginia and Syracuse.

What UGA recruits, former players had to say following SEC Championship loss

Todd Gurley, Brandon Boykin, and a bunch of 2020 recruits weighed in on Georgia’s SEC Championship loss to the LSU Tigers.

Joe Burrow and the LSU Tigers proved to be an unstoppable force for the Georgia Bulldogs. Fortunately for the Dawgs, Joe Burrow is a senior and can’t haunt Kirby Smart and company any more. Burrow contributed to two of Georgia’s five loses in the past two seasons.

Georgia fans can also take solace in their sixth ranking recruiting class, which has room to grow and to improve. Georgia will be loaded with talent once again next season. It won’t be a rebuild for Kirby Smart and the staff. It will be a reload.

Here’s what some of the current Georgia commits had to say about the loss:
