Georgia basketball adds transfer from NCAA Tournament team

Mike White and UGA basketball have added former Longwood Lancers guard Justin Hill, who is transferring to Georgia.

The Georgia Bulldogs did not take long to add a new player under first year head coach Mike White. Longwood Lancers guard Justin Hill is transferring to Georgia.

Hill was the leading scored on Longwood’s 26-7 team in 2021-2022. Longwood made the NCAA Tournament before falling to Tennessee. Hill averaged a team-high 14.2 points per game this season.

The 6-foot, 185-pound point guard from Houston, Texas, is a key addition for the Bulldogs. Hill brings NCAA Tournament experience to Georgia’s roster.

Justin Hill is a good shooter and can score at all three levels. He is Mike White’s first addition to the roster since becoming the head coach at Georgia. Hill helped Longwood go 15-1 in conference play. Longwood one the Big South and was a 14-seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Mike White will have to rebuild much of Georgia’s roster. The Bulldogs will need a combination of incoming transfers and freshman in order to improve off last season. Georgia already has some key players from the 2021-2022 season in the transfer portal.

Georgia basketball player picks transfer destination

Georgia Bulldogs basketball player Mike Peake has selected a transfer destination.

Georgia basketball sophomore Mike Peake entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from Dawgnation.

At 6 feet, 8 inches, 220 pounds, Peake signed late in last year’s class. He played high school basketball at Blue Valley Northwest High School in Overland Park, Kansas.

Peake was gracious for his time at the University of Georgia, but is now transferring to Austin Peay. Austin Peay went 21-12 last season. Peake is now a little bit closer to home.

Peake played in 24 total games last season. He averaged 9 minutes per game with 2.3 points and 2 rebounds.

He scored a career-high 8 points in Georgia’s season opener against Delaware State.

Georgia Bulldogs freshman basketball player Rodney Howard is electing to transfer to rival Georgia Tech. Howard, a center, will provide the Yellow Jackets with some size on the interior. He’s anticipated to have to sit out for one season. Howard played in 24 games as a freshman.

Under head basketball coach Tom Crean, Howard averaged 7.3 minutes per game. He averaged 1.3 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.3 fouls in his limited playing time. He was a potential building block for the future and a nice piece of UGA’s great 2019 basketball recruiting class.

How initially considered attending Georgia Tech when he made his decision to commit to the University of Georgia. Georgia Tech went 17-14 during the 2019-2020 season, where they were ineligible for post-season play. The Yellow Jackets finished fifth in the ACC, but they fell to Anthony Edwards and the Georgia Bulldogs in non-conference play.

Howard played at Legacy Charter High School in Greenville, South Carolina. He was a three-star center prospect in the class of 2019.
