Germany vs. Italy UEFA Nations League odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Germany vs. Italy odds and lines, with UEFA Nations League picks and predictions.

Germany (0 wins, 0 losses, 3 draws) welcomes Italy (1-0-2) to Borussia-Park in Mönchengladbach Monday. Kickoff for the 4th of 6 group stage games is set for 2:45 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Germany vs. Italy odds and lines, and make our best UEFA Nations League bets, picks and predictions.

The 2 global soccer powerhouses will highlight just a handful of premier games in this round of the group stage. The teams played to a 1-1 draw June 4.

Wildly enough, every one of Germany’s 3 group stage matches has resulted in a 1-1 draw. Italy, the No. 6 team in FIFA’s rankings, has drawn twice — 1-1 against Germany and 0-0 against England. They beat Hungary 2-1.

Having made global news when they were bounced from World Cup qualifying, this will be the top training ground for a new wave of Italian talent. They’re led by 25-year-old Roma M Lorenzo Pellegrini, who has 2 of the team’s 3 goals in the UEFA Nations League.

As for Germany, FIFA’s 12th-ranked team, they’re going to be a big-time contender in the 2022 Qatar World Cup. A combination of M Thomas Müller and F Kai Havertz lead the attack while GK Manuel Neuer anchors the backline.

  • Money line: Germany -133 (bet $133 to win $100) | Italy +360 (bet $100 to win $360) | Draw +280
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -103 | U: -117)

[tipico]

Prediction

Germany 1, Italy 0

Money line (ML)

BET GERMANY -133.

Germany has an extremely talented side with many big-name European talents taking the pitch. While Germany didn’t come out on top against Italy in the 1st meeting, it did have double the shots on target and also had 68% of the possession in that battle.

Most of the time, a team with those splits will win, and with this match in Germany, the home side should have the edge.

While they did play on Saturday, Man City M İlkay Gündoğan and Muller both didn’t start, so they should be rested enough to play the bulk of the game against Italy.

Italy has just 11 shots on target through 3 games. Given their lack of consistent attempts, I’d back Germany to come out on top as they should have in the 1st matchup.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-117).

Italy has seen 5 goals netted between it and its opponent. Germany can barely top that with 6. The only game between the 2 teams that would have gone over this total is Italy’s 2-1 win over Austria.

As noted as well, Italy hasn’t had a powerful attack. They do not have a player in the Nations League that has more than 10 goals. It’s an extremely inexperienced side.

Germany has only scored 3 goals in 3 games, so their attack hasn’t erupted like many expected. Germany has had 11 shots on target in 28 attempts, so they have struggled to put it on the frame.

Both teams have had issues in the Nations League, and I expect their current form to yield a low-scoring affair.

France vs. Croatia UEFA Nations League odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s France vs. Croatia odds and lines, with UEFA Nations League picks and predictions.

France (0 wins, 1 loss, 2 draws) welcomes Croatia (1-1-1) to Stade de France in Paris Monday. Kickoff for the 4th of 6 group stage games is set for 2:45 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the France  vs. Croatia odds and lines, and make our best UEFA Nations League bets, picks and predictions.

The 2 global soccer powerhouses will highlight just a handful of premier games in this round of the group stage. Surprisingly, both teams sit 3rd and 4th in League A Group 1 play.

France has just 2 points while Croatia is tied with Austria at 4 points. Croatia has a minus-2 goal differential though while Austria’s is 2. Denmark leads the group with 6 points.

Croatia is led by superstar M Luka Modrić who is coming off a Champions League title with Real Madrid. Croatia’s problem has been scoring, having totaled just 2 goals in 3 games.

Croatia, ranked 16th in the world by FIFA, has already qualified for the 2022 Qatar World Cup. No. 3 France has also qualified and is among the favorites to win the tournament.

France is led by Atletico Madrid F Antoine Griezmann and Real Madrid F Karim Benzema. PSG F Kylian Mbappe is also one of the team’s top players. They’ve drawn Austria and Croatia 1-1 while losing to Denmark 2-1.

  • Money line: France -200 (bet $200 to win $100) | Croatia +550 (bet $100 to win $550) | Draw +330
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

[tipico]

Prediction

France 2, Croatia 0

Money line (ML)

LEAN FRANCE (-200).

France is the far superior side, and they’ll be at home. My concern here is the value on France at -200. They haven’t looked great despite playing several of their top-tier players.

Against Austria, France had more than double the shots on goal and had more than double the shots against Denmark, who beat them 2-1. Even Croatia played them well but only drew by a penalty kick.

France has the favorite to win the Ballon d’Or in Benzema and also one of the best defensive mids in the world in Chelsea’s N’Golo Kanté. The team is deep and has a plethora of top European talent.

Considering Croatia has only scored 2 goals in 3 games, I expect those struggles to continue while France, given the pace of Mbappe and Benzema should be enough to get on the board enough to take home 3 points.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (+100).

Both teams have struggled to produce. Also, both sides are 1-2 O/U so far in the nations league. Croatia held Denmark, who scored 2 on France, to just 1 shot on goal in the road side’s most recent matchup.

France has allowed 4 goals but also has limited opponents shot on target.

There were 10 shots on target in the first matchup between these 2 teams. The possessions were split 48% Croatia to 52% France, so it was a well-paced battle.

With how the teams have played so far in the group stage, the Under 2.5 (+100) is the best bet in this game.

Switzerland vs. Portugal odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Switzerland vs. Portugal odds and lines, with UEFA Nations League picks and predictions.

Switzerland (0 wins, 3 losses, 0 draws) welcomes Portland (2-0-1) to Stade de Genève in Geneva, Switzerland Sunday. Kickoff for the 4th of 6 group stage games is set for 2:45 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Switzerland vs. Portugal odds and lines, and make our best UEFA Nations League bets, picks and predictions.

The 2 global soccer powerhouses will highlight just a handful of premier games in this round of the group stage.

While Switzerland was among those teams in Pot 2 for the 2022 World Cup draw, they’ve struggled immensely in a group that also has Spain and the Czech Republic. Switzerland sits 14th in the world per FIFA men’s rankings.

Portugal comes in ranked 8th, led by Manchester United star F Cristiano Ronaldo, who netted 2 goals as Portugal beat Switzerland 4-0 at home on June 5.

The Ronaldo-led side is sitting atop League A Group 2 with 7 goals for and 1 goal against in 3 games. They drew Spain 1-1 and blanked the Czech Republic 2-0.

Switzerland vs. Portugal odds, lines, picks and predictions

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 1:03 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Switzerland +240 (bet $100 to win $240) | Portugal +115 (bet $100 to win $115) | Draw +245
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

[tipico]

Prediction

Portugal 2, Switzerland 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN PORTUGAL (+115).

It might be a relatively easy prediction, but Portugal has looked too good to bet against here. While Ronaldo is important, their team is far from just a one-man show.

They have an experienced backline led by D Pepe, who has 127 caps. Both Ronaldo on the attack and M João Moutinho have 3 digits worth of caps as well.

They also have an up-and-coming star F in 25-year-old Liverpool F Diogo Jota. Combine it all, and it’s a roster one wouldn’t want to bet against.

Also, Switzerland has looked awful so far in the nations league, allowing 7 goals and scoring just 1. They have an aging midfield with 30-year-old M Xherdan Shaqiri and 29-year-old Granit Xhaka.

The home-field advantage helps bring the value for Portugal, and I’ll take that.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (-110).

Both sides have played in 3 games so far in the nations league and those games have totaled 8 goals each, so they’re hovering around a 3-goal per-game average.

Portugal has won 4-0 against Switzerland already and has 17 shots on goal through their 3 games.

As for Switzerland, while they haven’t scored, they did have 7 shots on goal against the Czech Republic yet just 1 goal. They’ve gone over 2.5 goals in 2 of 3 games.

Given Portugal’s dominant attackers, I’ll take the over in this battle.
