2023 Women’s World Cup: South Africa vs. Italy odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s South Africa vs. Italy odds and lines, with Women’s World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

In a Group G matchup, South Africa (0-1-1) and Italy (1-0-1) meet Wednesday in the 2023 Women’s World Cup at Wellington Regional Stadium in New Zealand. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 a.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the South Africa vs. Italy odds, and make our best Women’s World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

South Africa suffered a 2-1 setback against Sweden in the opener on July 23 and played to a 2-2 draw against Argentina Thursday. With a win and a little help, South Africa can play its way into the Round of 16.

Italy was thrashed 5-0 by Sweden last time out, splashing cold water on last Monday’s 1-0 victory over Argentina. The Azzurri have an ugly minus-4 goal differential, so it basically loses any tiebreaker. As such, a draw would likely not cut it if Argentina were to upend Sweden.

  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -120 | U: -120)

South Africa vs. Italy picks and predictions

Prediction

Italy 2, South Africa 1

Moneyline (ML)

ITALY (-150) will need all hands on deck as it looks to recover from a 5-0 beating from Sweden. It cannot rely upon a draw to get through to the Round of 16 based on an ugly goal differential, so it will be pushing hard on offense trying to break through and South Africa hasn’t offered much resistance to date, conceding 4 goals through 2 matches.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 2.5 GOALS (-120) will cost you a little extra, but it’s the best play on the board. The Over-Under has split across 2 games to date for Italy while the Over has cashed in both fixtures for South Africa.

I like ITALY TO WIN AND BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE (+240) for a chance to more than double up, too. In addition, play the “multiple correct score” prop, considering ITALY 2:1, 3:1 OR 4:1 (+350) for a shot at multiplying your initial wager by 3 1/2 times.

2023 Women’s World Cup: Sweden vs. Italy odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Sweden vs. Italy odds and lines, with Women’s World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

In a Group G matchup, Sweden (1-0-0 / W-D-L) and Italy (1-0-0) meet Saturday in the 2023 Women’s World Cup at Wellington Regional Stadium in New Zealand. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 a.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Sweden vs. Italy odds, and make our best Women’s World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Sweden survived a scare from South Africa 2-1 in the opening match of Group G play in a damp night in Wellington last Sunday. The heavily-favored Swedes fell behind 10 at the 48′ mark, but Fridolina Rolfo answered at 65′, and Amanda Ilestedt scored at the 90′ point to help Sweden escape an embarrassing result.

Italy eased by Argentina 1-0 in a defensive battle, with Cristiana Girelli coming up with the heroics at 87′ to give Azzurri 3 points instead of just the 1 for a draw. Italy posted 4 shots on goal, to just 2 for Argentina, while it led the possession battle by a slim 53%-47% margin.

Sweden vs. Italy odds

  • Moneyline: Sweden -110 (bet $110 to win $100) | Italy +320 (bet $100 to win $320) | Draw +210
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: +135 | U: -190)

Sweden vs. Italy picks and predictions

Prediction

Italy 1, Sweden 1

Moneyline (ML)

I’m all-in on the DRAW (+210) for an opportunity to multiply the initial wager by 2.1 times.

Sweden was lucky to escape the opening match against a South African side it should have curb-stomped, while Italy scored late to avoid a draw against Argentina. In this matchup between table-toppers and group favorites, we should see both clubs play it rather close to the vest with very few chances taken.

Over/Under (O/U)

First off, I like NO (+138): GOAL TO BE SCORED 1ST HALF. I think we’ll get a rather boring first 45, as neither team wants to take a lot of chances, potentially giving the opposition a chance the other way.

As a result, I like 2ND HALF: HALF WITH MOST GOALS (+120) at plus-money, as we get a small, late flurry goals for the eventual draw.

And in case you were wondering, playing 1:1 (+550) CORRECT SCORE will help you multiply your initial wager by 5.5 times. It’s worth a roll of the dice. A 0:0 (+600) CORRECT SCORE is also worth a look. Sure, if the match ends 0-0 or 1-1, you would lose one end, but you’d still be well ahead.

If you’re a little more conservative and willing to play the juice, UNDER 2.5 GOALS (-190) is a slam-dunk play as far as I am concerned.

2023 Women’s World Cup: Italy vs. Argentina odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Italy vs. Argentina odds and lines, with Women’s World Cup soccer expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[anyclip pubname=”2129″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8190″]

Italy and Argentina battle in the 1st action for both nations in the 2023 Women’s World Cup on Monday. Kickoff in the Group G matchup from Eden Park is set for 1 a.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Italy vs. Argetina odds, and make our best Women’s World Cup bets, picks and predictions.

Italy is bringing a squad with little experience as it has just 3 players with 25-plus caps on the roster. Over the last 12 months, Italy has won 5 of 11 matches, losing 5 with 1 draw. Italy has won 3 of its last 4 matches, beating New Zealand 1-0 in a friendly on July 14.  It qualified by being the UEFA Group G winner.

Argentina qualified by being the 3rd-place winner in the 2022 Copa America Femenina. It has won 5 of 6 games in 2023, beating New Zealand 1-0 and 2-0 in February. It did lose 7-0 to Spain and 2-0 to Canada in late 2022. Argentina ranks 28th in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings with Italy sitting 16th.

  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: +130 | U: -175)

Italy vs. Argentina picks and predictions

Prediction

Italy 1, Argentina 0

Moneyline (ML)

PASS.

Argentina hasn’t played well against good competition over the last few years, but it did beat New Zealand twice. Italy has more talent and is a higher-ranked side, but isn’t worth a play at (-145).

I would take BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE – NO (-140).

A team has been held scoreless in 2 straight games for Italy and in 5 of 6 for Argentina in 2023. Both have good defenses and haven’t consistently scored in the attack.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-175).

Piggybacking off that prediction, the Under is a good play here, though a bit costly. Italy has gone Under this total in 5 of its last 9 matches, and Argentina has gone Under in 4 of its last 6.

The 1st 4 games of this tournament went Under this total, and the only games to go north of it in the 1st 2 days were between a top-10 side and a nation outside of the top 30 in FIFA’s rankings (Spain beat Costa Rica 3-0 and USA beat Vietnam 3-0).

Both of these teams are in the top 30 and should be able to limit opportunities. Take the UNDER 2.5 (-175).

Spain vs. Italy odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Spain vs. Italy odds and lines, with expert Nations League picks, predictions and best bets.

Spain battles Italy in the UEFA Nations League semifinal Thursday. Kickoff from De Grolsch Veste in Enschede, Netherlands, is set for 2:45 p.m. ET. Below, we preview BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Spain vs. Italy odds, and make our best soccer bets, picks and predictions.

The winner of this battle will face Croatia, which beat the Netherlands 4-2 Wednesday in the other semifinal, on Sunday at 2:45 p.m. ET.

Spain beat Portugal 1-0 to make the Nations League final 4. It went 2-0-2 (2 draws) in the group stage matches. Between these 2 sets of matches was the World Cup, in which it was bounced by Morocco in penalty kicks. Spain will likely be led by F Alvaro Morata with Barcelona star M Gavi also in the mix.

Italy failed to qualify for the World Cup, but made these semifinals on the back of a 2-0 win over Hungary. It also took down England 1-0. Italy was 1-1-2 in the group stage matches for the Nations League. It will likely be led in the attack by Tigre F Mateo Retegui. M Marco Verratti and M Jorginho will make up the crux of the Italian roster.

Spain vs. Italy picks and predictions

Prediction

Spain 2, Italy 1

Moneyline (ML)

BET SPAIN (+125).

Of course, the favorite is the easy route to take here, but the talent is just unmatched. The combination of Gavi and M Rodri along with D Carvajal should present quite a challenge for Italy.

Also, Spain was far better in the group stage and also faired well at the World Cup. The new wave of Italian football hasn’t quite proven itself and took down a Hungary side to reach this point.

With a 5-2 defeat to Germany in the group stage, Italy may struggle against a technically sound Spanish side. Back SPAIN (+125).

Over/Under (O/U)

LEAN OVER 2.5 (+125).

Italy scored in both of its previous matches in the UEFA Champions League and has been held scoreless in just 1 of 6 games. It allowed 7 goals in 4 group stage matches though. Both teams have terrific midfield players which should help transition into opportunities as well.

Spain went Over this total in 2 of 4 World Cup matches and in 1 of 2 of the September Nations League matches. The firepower is there, and for a small unit, play the OVER 2.5 (+125).

Germany vs. Italy UEFA Nations League odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Germany vs. Italy odds and lines, with UEFA Nations League picks and predictions.

Germany (0 wins, 0 losses, 3 draws) welcomes Italy (1-0-2) to Borussia-Park in Mönchengladbach Monday. Kickoff for the 4th of 6 group stage games is set for 2:45 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the Germany vs. Italy odds and lines, and make our best UEFA Nations League bets, picks and predictions.

The 2 global soccer powerhouses will highlight just a handful of premier games in this round of the group stage. The teams played to a 1-1 draw June 4.

Wildly enough, every one of Germany’s 3 group stage matches has resulted in a 1-1 draw. Italy, the No. 6 team in FIFA’s rankings, has drawn twice — 1-1 against Germany and 0-0 against England. They beat Hungary 2-1.

Having made global news when they were bounced from World Cup qualifying, this will be the top training ground for a new wave of Italian talent. They’re led by 25-year-old Roma M Lorenzo Pellegrini, who has 2 of the team’s 3 goals in the UEFA Nations League.

As for Germany, FIFA’s 12th-ranked team, they’re going to be a big-time contender in the 2022 Qatar World Cup. A combination of M Thomas Müller and F Kai Havertz lead the attack while GK Manuel Neuer anchors the backline.

  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -103 | U: -117)

[tipico]

Prediction

Germany 1, Italy 0

Money line (ML)

BET GERMANY -133.

Germany has an extremely talented side with many big-name European talents taking the pitch. While Germany didn’t come out on top against Italy in the 1st meeting, it did have double the shots on target and also had 68% of the possession in that battle.

Most of the time, a team with those splits will win, and with this match in Germany, the home side should have the edge.

While they did play on Saturday, Man City M İlkay Gündoğan and Muller both didn’t start, so they should be rested enough to play the bulk of the game against Italy.

Italy has just 11 shots on target through 3 games. Given their lack of consistent attempts, I’d back Germany to come out on top as they should have in the 1st matchup.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-117).

Italy has seen 5 goals netted between it and its opponent. Germany can barely top that with 6. The only game between the 2 teams that would have gone over this total is Italy’s 2-1 win over Austria.

As noted as well, Italy hasn’t had a powerful attack. They do not have a player in the Nations League that has more than 10 goals. It’s an extremely inexperienced side.

Germany has only scored 3 goals in 3 games, so their attack hasn’t erupted like many expected. Germany has had 11 shots on target in 28 attempts, so they have struggled to put it on the frame.

Both teams have had issues in the Nations League, and I expect their current form to yield a low-scoring affair.

England vs. Italy odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s England vs. Italy odds and lines, with Champions League picks and predictions.

England (0 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw) welcomes Italy (1-1-0) to Molineux Stadium in Wolverhampton, England Saturday. Kickoff for the 3rd of 6 group stage games is set for 2:45 p.m. ET. Below, we preview the England vs. Italy odds and lines, and make our best UEFA Nations League bets, picks and predictions.

The two global soccer powerhouses will highlight just a handful of premier games in the 3rd round of the group stage. Italy failed to qualify for the 2022 Qatar World Cup but still sits 6th on FIFA’s men’s rankings.

Italy is led by M Nicolò Barella, who scored the winning goal against Hungary in a 2-1 Tuesday. Italy drew Germany 1-1 in its 1st game (June 4).

England sit 5th in the world and will play in a group with Iran, USA, and Wales in the November World Cup.

England is led by F Harry Kane but has struggled in Nations League play. Chelsea M Mason Mount and Manchester City F Raheem Sterling help highlight the elite English attack.

Prediction

Italy 1, England 1

Money line (ML)

LEAN DRAW (+230).

While I like the draw in this match, I also wouldn’t mind combining the draw and Italy to win at -122.

The home side is the far favorite, but England hasn’t played like it as of late. England lost to Hungary 1-0 by a penalty June 4 and only drew Germany 1-1 Tuesday because of a penalty.

England had fewer shots than Hungary and was out possessed by Germany 63% to 37%. England just hasn’t shown much despite being one of the better teams in the world.

Italy, on the other hand, doesn’t have a World Cup to play for. This is it. Italy has many young, up-and-coming prospects that have already started to show promise.

I expect Italy, as it has proven, to keep this game competitive.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-150).

This is by far the best bet in this match. It’s worth the extra bit of juice. England’s first 2 games saw scores of 1-0 and 1-1 – with 2 of the 3 goals being penalty kicks.

Italy’s first 2 games were 1-1 and 2-1, but the lone Hungary goal in the 2-1 loss to Italy was an own goal.

The Nations League games just haven’t been high scoring, and I wouldn’t bank that this one is either.

Also, as mentioned Italy has a young team and doesn’t have a player on its current roster that has more than 10 goals and no player has more than 50 caps.

Euro 2020 Final prop bet odds, picks and predictions

Previewing Sunday’s Euro 2020 Final between England and Italy, with prop bet odds, picks, tips, predictions and best bets.

After numerous nail-biting matches, the Euro 2020 Final is finally here. It’ll be England and Italy taking the pitch at 3 p.m. ET Sunday. The match takes place at Wembley Stadium in London, England. Below, we preview the 5 best Euro 2020 Final prop bets and make our best Euro 2020 picks and predictions.

England is coming in having defeated Denmark 2-1 via a controversial penalty kick decision in extra time. Italy took down Spain 4-2 in penalty kicks.

Both sides look to their defense to guide them. It’s been a dominant defensive display as England has given up just 1 goal in the tournament while Italy has allowed just 3.

Both teams to score (+115)

While the defenses have been strong, both England and Italy have managed to put goals on the board.

England had just 2 goals through three Group Stage matches, but its offense has come alive in the knockout rounds to score 8 goals in three matches.

Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, and the comeback of Mason Mount have created a nice three-headed monster.

On the other side of the pitch, Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne have played well of late and Italy has scored 12 goals in the tournament. Expect both teams to score at least once.

Harry Kane to score 2 or more goals (+900)

Let’s note – Kane is England’s option from the spot. It’s worth betting at this great value that he gets one of his own and then maybe Sterling can draw another penalty.

Kane has scored four times in the last three matches, and he’ll be a lethal threat for the home side. Expect Kane to get at least one and the 9-1 odds make it worthwhile to bet him to score twice or more.

Score at half 0-0 (+115)

As I predicted earlier in the week, I think both teams score, but I also find the value in betting +115 for the final score at half to be 0-0.

Eight of Italy’s 12 goals in Euro 2020 were scored in the second half or in extra time, and seven of England’s 10 goals have come in the second half or extra time.

This game should come alive in the second half, but a slow first 45 minutes wouldn’t be shocking. With both strong, experienced backlines, expect a slow-churning first half.

Jorginho to get a yellow (+400)

Italian center-mid Jorginho has committed six fouls so far this tournament.

While none of them have been worthy of a yellow card, in a game likely to favor the home side, it wouldn’t be shocking to see the normally-composed mid get risky with his challenges.

He had two yellow cards in 28 appearances with Chelsea this past season, and he had 10 yellow cards in 31 appearances the season prior. At +400 value, this prop offers solid odds, especially considering how the game could be officiated.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Sterling to have Over 1.5 shots on target (+140)

Sterling used his speed to draw a penalty last match, and he should use it again to his advantage. Likely to play the entire game, Sterling is England’s best option on the edge.

Sterling has 8 shots on target so far this tournament and can be expected to be ultra-aggressive with his touches at home in the final. He’s been the best attacking option for England, and he should make his presence felt in this match.

Euro 2020 Final: England vs. Italy odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Euro 2020 Final odds and lines between England and Italy, with UEFA EURO 2020 picks, tips, predictions and best bets.

In Sunday’s Euro 2020 Final, England takes on Italy. The match is set to kick off at 3 p.m. ET at Wembley Stadium in London, England. Below, we preview the England vs. Italy odds and lines and make our best Euro 2020 bets, picks and predictions.

England will get yet another game in front of a raucous home crowd. As we saw with Hungary, this does make a difference, and it should give a boost to the home side.

Now, that’s not to say England’s without talent. Winger Raheem Sterling and F Harry Kane have been a couple of the tournament’s most electric players. Having conceded a goal for the first time in the tournament against Denmark in the semifinals, England has had a stout backline as well.

It’ll be playing an equally impressive Italian side. Italy has given up just 3 goals in the tournament. Its backline is led by veteran defender Giorgio Chiellini. Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, Lazio F Ciro Immobile and Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne lead the way up front.

Both sides have rosters filled with some of the best talents in the world.

Prediction

Italy 1, England 1 (Italy wins in extra time)

Money line (ML)

BET on a DRAW (+195) because both teams have shown resourcefulness in tight games.

England was down 1-0 to Denmark and quickly countered to tie it. The home side has shown enough to be the favorite, but it hasn’t yet taken on a high-level opponent like Italy.

Having defeated both Spain and Belgium, not trailing for a minute of either match, Italy has taken down a few European goliaths.

All three money line wagers are plus-money bets, and with both teams having had their semifinal match go to extra time, there’s a good chance this one goes past 90 minutes.

You can get Italy to win the cup at -110. If you’re feeling risky, you can couple this with the regulation draw.

After watching the grittiness Italy had in the semifinals and against an elite Belgium side in the quarterfinals, I think it’ll come out on top but not in the first 90 minutes.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 0.5 GOALS IN THE FIRST HALF (+125) as both teams typically outlast their opponent and score late in the match.

Eight of Italy’s 12 goals in Euro 2020 were scored in the second half or in extra time. While I predicted both sides to get on the board, it’s likely to be in a thrilling second half.

England runs a similar story. Seven of its 10 goals have come in the second half or extra time. It has been a tale told by most teams, and it’s one I’d be willing to bet on in the Euro 2020 Final.

Betting on both teams not to score in the first half is the best bet on the total.

Euro 2020: Italy vs. Spain odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Italy vs. Spain odds and lines, with UEFA EURO 2020 picks, tips, predictions and best bets.

We’re down to just four teams in Euro 2020 and Italy meets Spain Tuesday in our first semifinal match for a 3 p.m. ET kickoff at Wembley Stadium in London, England. Below, we preview the Italy vs. Spain odds and lines and make our best Euro 2020 bets, picks and predictions.

Spain, the No. 6 nation in the FIFA World Rankings, defeated the Xherdan Shaqiri-led Switzerland in the quarterfinals despite failing to score while up a man for the final 33-plus minutes of regulation and stoppage time. Spain had 28 shots (10 on target) but just 1 goal.

With a bad penalty record, Spain managed to step up and top Switzerland 3-1 on penalties.

Italy topped Belgium 2-1 in the quarterfinals. Despite MF Eden Hazard being sidelined, Belgium looked almost at full strength. The top team in the world by the FIFA rankings, lost to seventh-ranked Italy. A penalty kick was the only goal Belgium got on the board.

Italy had two absolutely beautiful goals. It shook off its Round of 16 struggles and looked dominant to improve to 5-0-0 in the tournament.

Prediction

Italy 1, Spain 1 (Italy advances in extra time)

Money line (ML)

BET on ITALY TO ADVANCE (-145) as the best value bet. While it’s a bit pricey, Spain is a classy side and may find a way to push this to penalty kicks.

Italy looked flawless despite one mistaken challenge against Belgium. After watching that and seeing the combination of lethal finishers with veteran defenders like 36-year-old Giorgio Chiellini, I wouldn’t bet against Italy.

Also, Italy’s defense is much stronger than Switzerland’s, so if Spain struggled to score against the Swiss, I can only imagine the difficulty they could be in for in the semifinals.

After giving up 2 goals in the final 15 minutes to Croatia and not capitalizing on the red card against Switzerland, betting on Spain in any form to win this game is a trap.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET on the UNDER 2.5 (-175) despite the steep price.

While Spain has two 5-goal games in the tournament, it scored 5, 1 and 0 goals in three matches against top-20 teams. In similar matches, Italy scored 3, 2 and 1 goals. I don’t think this will be a high-scoring match, especially with Italy’s defensive prowess.

However, Italy isn’t the only side with extremely experienced defenders. Spain has defending MF Sergio Busquets and D Jordi Alba both helping captain their roster.

Expect a low-scoring affair that may head into extra time. Thankfully, the total is only in effect for the regular time, and 1-1 feels like a very realistic 90-minute score.
