How much is Ohio State coach Ryan Day’s buyout in 2024?

If Ohio State ever decided to fire Ryan Day, it wouldn’t be cheap.

It’s no secret that college football coaches are paid a ton of money with ridiculous contracts that sometimes make them the highest-paid public employees in their respective states.

When it comes to buyouts, the numbers are similarly huge with coaches often being owed millions of dollars if their school decides it’s time to part ways and fire the coach without cause.

So how much money would Ohio State have to pay Ryan Day if the Buckeyes wanted to fire their head coach?

Day — who has been the Buckeyes’ full-time head coach since the 2019 season — has the 17th-largest buyout among college football coaches as of 2024, according to USA TODAY Sports’ database of salaries and contracts. As of December 1, 2024, Day’s contract buyout is $37,276,042.

That’s definitely not the largest — Georgia’s Kirby Smart has the biggest buyout at $118,083,333 — but still a huge chunk of change if Ohio State ever decided to fire Day.

Why isn’t Isaiah Bond playing for Texas against Clemson in the College Football Playoff?

Why Texas WR Isaiah Bond isn’t dressed for the CFP game against Clemson.

No. 5 seed Texas will take on No. 12 seed Clemson in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Saturday in Austin, but the Longhorns will be without a key offensive player.

Texas wide receiver Isaiah Bond was reportedly a game-time decision after suffering a high ankle sprain in the Longhorns’ SEC title game loss to Georgia. Bond had a limited week going into the first-round playoff game against the Tigers, and he was in street clothes during warmups Saturday and will not play, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported.

During the pregame broadcast, ESPN’s Laura Rutledge also confirmed Texas will play without Bond.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF: Indiana absolutely deserved its CFP spot, and arguing otherwise is revisionist nonsense

On ESPN’s College GameDay on Saturday, Thamel also said, via On3:

“One big potential loss today for Texas is wide receiver Isaiah Bond. …He’s obviously their starting slot, a projected first-round pick. He’s unlikely to play and he certainly isn’t going to contribute significantly.”

A transfer this season from Alabama, Bond’s injury is a notable loss for Texas. One of the Longhorns’ top receivers, he’s racked up 532 yards on 33 catches for five touchdowns this season, along with 98 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.

How much is Penn State coach James Franklin’s buyout in 2024?

If Penn State ever decided to fire James Franklin, it wouldn’t be cheap.

There’s a ton of money floating around college football, and head coaches make a lot with monster contracts that deliver them millions of dollars. Sometimes, college football coaches are even the highest-paid public employees in their respective states.

With their huge contracts also come very large buyouts — the money a school would owe the coach if it decided to fire him without cause. And it can sometimes be enough money to force a school to ride it out a little longer, rather than cough up several million dollars.

So how much would Penn State have to pay James Franklin if the Nittany Lions ever decided to fire their head coach?

Franklin — who has been the Nittany Lions’ head coach since 2014 — has the sixth-largest buyout among college football coaches as of 2024, according to USA TODAY Sports’ database of salaries and contracts. As of December 1, 2024, Franklin’s buyout is $56,666,667.

That’s definitely not the largest — Georgia’s Kirby Smart has the biggest buyout at $118,083,333 — but still a huge chunk of change if Penn State ever decided to fire Franklin.

Ravens schedule: Is Baltimore playing today in Week 16?

Is Baltimore Ravens playing today? Here’s a look at the schedule and the games to come.

Will the Baltimore Ravens be on the field today in Week 16 of the NFL season?

Following last week’s 35-14 win over the Giants, the Ravens are home and will face the Pittsburgh Steelers at M&T Bank Stadium.

The Ravens (9-5) are second in the AFC North and all but guaranteed to make the playoffs regardless of what happens in Week 16. Still, a loss to the Steelers and a Houston Win over Kansas City could send Baltimore sliding to the sixth seed, with a matchup against the Texans looming in Week 17.

Overall, a bad two weeks for Baltimore could put John Harbaugh’s team down as far as the seventh seed and on a collision course with Buffalo in the wild-card round.

There are ways back to the No. 3 or four seed, and that starts with a win over Pittsburgh on Saturday and some help down the stretch.

Ravens schedule:

Week 11 Sun, Nov 17 @ Pittsburgh Steelers (L 16-18)

Week 12 Mon, Nov 25 @ Los Angeles Chargers (W, 30-23)

Week 13 Sun, Dec 1 vs Philadelphia Eagles (L, 19-24)

Week 15 Sun, Dec 15 @ New York Giants (W, 34-19)

Week 16 Sat, Dec 21 vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Week 17 Wed, Dec 25 @ Houston Texans

Week 18 Sun, Jan 5 vs Cleveland Browns

Record: 9-5
