Vikings elevate 2 players from practice squad for Week 15 vs. Bengals

Jackson and Gaskin will likely see heavy roles on speciat teams on Saturday

Going into Saturday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the Minnesota Vikings are dealing with injuries on both sides of the ball, but the offense has been hindered more. They will be without starters running back Alexander Mattison and right tackle Brian O’Neill with wide receiver Jalen Nailor also missing the game.

On Friday afternoon, the Vikings elevated wide receiver Trishton Jackson and running back Myles Gaskin from the practice squad.

Jackson has played in six games for the Vikings this season with two catches for nine yards including a two-point conversion.

Gaskin has played in just two games this season: week two with the Vikings and week eight with the Los Angeles Rams. He hasn’t recorded a touch on the season.

The Vikings and Bengals will kick off at noon Central on Saturday.

Vikings sign another wide receiver to practice squad

Jackson is now on his third stint on the practice squad

The Minnesota Vikings have, once again, signed wide receiver Trishton Jackson to the practice squad.

This is the third time that Jackson has been signed to the practice squad this year. He and N’Keal Harry were added to the active roster in early October but Jackson went back to the practice squad after the game against the Chicago Bears.

Jackson went back to the active roster on the 28th of October and made it almost a month before the Vikings moved him back to the practice squad.

Jackson has been viewed by the Vikings as a player that they want to keep around based on how they keep elevating him from the practice squad and keeping him when they need to make a move.

The Vikings now have four wide receivers on the practice squad.

Vikings make 4 roster moves on Tuesday

After the injury to Dean Lowry on Sunday night, the Minnesota Vikings made four roster moves on Tuesday to fortify the roster

Due to the injury to defensive end Dean Lowry on Sunday night against the Denver Broncos, the Minnesota Vikings made some roster moves on Tuesday afternoon to fortify the roster.

On Monday afternoon, they lost outside linebacker Benton Whitley to the New York Giants, who signed him to their active roster.

Let’s take a look at the four roster moves made by the Vikings on Tuesday.

Vikings make two roster moves ahead of Sunday’s game

The Vikings signed a WR to the active roster and elevated an LB in place of Brian Asamoah II

The Minnesota Vikings made two roster moves ahead of Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers.

  • Vikings have signed WR Trishton Jackson from the practice squad to the active roster.
  • Vikings have elevated ILB Nick Vigil from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against the Packers.

Jackson was likely to be signed to the active roster at some point. The Vikings had already activated him the maximum of three times this year and he wouldn’t be able to play again unless on the active roster.

Vigil spent time on the Vikings roster during the 2021 season and signed to the practice squad after final cuts in August.

The Vikings and Packers kick off at noon on Sunday.

Vikings elevate 2 from practice squad for Monday’s game

The Vikings elevated two from the practice squad to fill the gap for injured players

The Minnesota Vikings have elevated two players from the practice squad for Monday night’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Both wide receiver Trishton Jackson and outside linebacker Luiji Vilain.

With Jalen Nailor still working his way back from his hamstring injury, Jackson is being elevated likely to fill a role on special teams. This is Jackson’s second elevation this season and has one more before he has to be on the active roster to play in a game.

After playing in three games in 2022, this is Vilain’s first game in 2023 and also his first activation. With Marcus Davenport on injured reserve, Vilain is likely to be the fourth outside linebacker with Danielle Hunter, D.J. Wonnum and Pat Jones II getting the majority of the snaps.

The Vikings kick off with the 49ers at 7:15 central.

Vikings bring back WR to practice squad

The Vikings brought back Jackson who they have been developing for multiple years

The Minnesota Vikings waived wide receiver Trishton Jackson from the active roster on Tuesday. One day later on Wednesday, the Vikings signed him back to the practice squad.

Jackson was signed to the active roster ahead on Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears due to Justin Jefferson being placed on injured reserve. He played four offensive snaps against the Bears but N’Keal Harry, who only played one snap, stayed on the active roster. That is likely due to Harry’s experience in the NFL.

Bringing back Jackson onto the practice squad was likely the plan. He has played well when the Vikings have asked him to.

Vikings waive young wide receiver

The move could signal that Jalen Nailor is ready to come back from his hamstring injury

The Minnesota Vikings have cleared a spot on the 53-man roster. The team announced that they have waived wide receiver Trishton Jackson.

After the injury of Justin Jefferson against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Vikings signed both Jackson and N’Keal Harry from the practice squad in a series of eight moves.

On Sunday afternoon, Jackson played four snaps on offense to Harry’s one, but the reason the Vikings likely kept Harry was because he is a more experienced veteran.

The move drops the Vikings roster down to 52 and Jalen Nailor could be coming back sooner than later. He is eligible to come off of injured reserve this week and could have his practice window activated on Wednesday.

Vikings elevate WR from practice squad for Sunday’s game

The Vikings elevated him to replace Jalen Nailor as a punt gunner

Ahead of Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Minnesota Vikings elevated wide receiver Trishton Jackson from the practice squad. The move was expected after the Vikings placed wide receiver Jalen Nailor on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

Nailor was a punt gunner for the Vikings on special teams and contributed on other special teams units. Jackson looks to fill that role for the Vikings on Sunday afternoon.

It isn’t likely that we see Jackson make an appearance on offense, but him getting in the game is a positive step forward.

The Vikings will have their inactive list announced at 10:30 am central time, 90 minutes before kickoff.

With 9 days until kickoff, here’s a look at every player to wear No. 9 in a regular season game with the Vikings (via Pro Football Reference):

Vikings waive WR Trishton Jackson

Jackson was in a battle for the final wide receiver spots

The Minnesota Vikings have continued to make roster moves. According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Vikings have waived wide receiver Trishton Jackson.

The wide receiver room was a very competitive one in training camp this year. Justin Jefferson, K.J. Osborn and Jordan Addison were all guaranteed to make the roster but after that it was a real battle.

Jackson was fighting for a roster spot with Jalen Reagor, Brandon Powell, Jalen Nailor and Lucky Jackson. It was a hard-fought battle and Jackson is a likely practice squad candidate.

Jackson suffered a minor injury during training camp and missed a short amount of time and it hindered his preseason production. He caught three passes for 29 yards.

Like last season, the Vikings could be targeting Jackson for the practice squad.
