1 WR prospect for Colts in each round of NFL draft

Taking a look at the best WR prospect for the Colts in each round of the NFL draft.

The Indianapolis Colts are just over two weeks away from the start of the 2023 NFL draft where they’ll be looking to add talent and depth to the roster.

While all of the talk has been surrounding the quarterback position this offseason, the Colts have a need to add talent to the wide receiver position as well.

They saw Parris Campbell sign a one-year deal with the New York Giants in free agency, and they replaced him with free agent Isaiah McKenzie. The Colts also brought back Ashton Dulin on a two-year deal.

Still, the Colts could use some depth, competition and upside at the WR3 position. With Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce on the outside, a vertical threat from the slot would be an ideal addition.

We’ll be tracking the Colts’ reported interest in the 2023 draft class so be sure to keep up with latest updates via our tracker.

Here’s a look at one wide receiver prospect who fits the Colts in each round of the draft:

NFL Draft: 12 mid/late-round prospects that could be steals for the Eagles

We’re looking at 12 mid to late-round NFL draft prospects that could end up being steals for the Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles have had success hitting on late-round picks in the past few years, with Jordan Mailata (2018), Kenneth Gainwell (2021), Jack Driscoll (2020), Quez Watkins (2020), Josh Sweat (2018), Nathan Gerry, Jalen Mills, and Jason Kelce being some of the late round picks who’ve played in a Super Bowl.

The 2023 NFL draft offers Philadelphia another opportunity to reload in the late rounds.

The expectation is that GM Howie Roseman will move around the board, acquiring draft assets and a large group of undrafted free agents.

With the draft just three weeks away, we’re taking an early look at 12 mid to late-round prospects that could end up as steals for the Eagles.

Chargers 2023 NFL draft preview: Where does Los Angeles stand at wide receiver?

Our Chargers’ NFL draft preview series continues with the wide receiver position.

After taking a steady approach in free agency, signing just one external player in linebacker Eric Kendricks and re-signing a handful of their own, the Chargers now have their sights set on the draft where they will look to bolster their roster with their selections and make a deeper run in 2023.

Before, we’re going position by position to break down where Los Angeles stands entering the draft.

Top offensive players for the Browns in the 2023 NFL Draft

Who on the offensive side of the ball should be on the Browns’ radar?

The offense of the Cleveland Browns has improved so far this offseason especially after adding wide receiver Elijah Moore in a trade with the Jets. The team continued to add speed by signing veteran Marquise Goodwin and adding athletic backup tight end Jordan Akins from the Texans. And now we are inching closer to the 2023 NFL Draft.

There is still room for improvement and an offense can never have enough young playmakers and depth pieces in the NFL. The Browns have questions behind Nick Chubb with Kareem Hunt set to leave town as well as some questions about the future of the offensive line at the guard position.

Let’s take a look at some players the Browns should target in this month’s draft.

10 impact NFL draft prospects to consider at the Eagles biggest under-the-radar position of need

We’re looking at ten wide receiver prospects for the Philadelphia Eagles to consider in round two or three of the 2023 NFL Draft

The Eagles have one of the top wide receiver duos in the NFL, but the depth behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith leaves much to be desired.

Quez Watkins is the No. 3 wideout and a talented deep threat, but he has flaws and is coming off a down 2022 season,

Still, if the season started today, either Britain Covey, Tyrie Cleveland, Greg Ward, or Devon Allen would be the fourth option on the outside.

We recently looked at five potential options from the 2023 crop of free-agent wide receivers, but the pickings are slim, and the production is questionable going forward.

Philadelphia should address the position in the NFL draft, while a talented veteran looking to play for a winning organization could also add value.

With the NFL draft less than a month away, here are ten wide receivers to consider at the Eagles’ most significant under-the-radar position of need.

Who did the Browns land in ESPN’s latest seven-round mock draft?

Who did the Browns land in ESPN’s seven-round mock draft?

We are now just 30 days from the 2023 NFL Draft, and mock drafts are continuing to pour out. The newest one was completed by ESPN’s Jordan Reid, who conducted a full seven-round mock draft. In this mock draft, the Cleveland Browns selected both Texas defensive tackle Keondre Coburn and Nebraska wide receiver Trey Palmer with their two third round picks.

Beyond those third round picks, however, the Browns have six more selections to make. Who did they take in this mock draft? We dive in here to all eight of the selections that Reid slotted to the Browns in his full mock draft.

Bucs to meet with Nebraska wide receiver

The Cornhuskers slot wideout also has experience as a special teams returner.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have a strong receiving corps with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, but there’s always room for more weapons.

General manager Jason Licht certainly seems to think so, as Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network reported on Thursday that the Bucs are set to host Nebraska wide receiver Trey Palmer for a pre-draft visit. There is somewhat of an offensive-trend with the team’s pre-draft schedule, as the Tampa Bay is also set to host Tennessee QB Hendon Hooker as well.

According to The Draft Network’s own analysis on Palmer, the Nebraska wideout is projected as a fourth-round pick. He’s notably quite fast, having run a 4.33 at the NFL Combine, and he also has special teams experience as a return man — something Licht and the Bucs are likely to value. The report notes his lack of physical opposition in college, however, which could be something to watch when it comes to his tape.

2022 was his best year with the Cornhuskers, as he caught 71 passes for 1,043 yards and nine touchdowns. He primarily plays out of the slot, so he could be a versatile weapon for any team who drafts him.

Unpacking Future Packers: No. 44, Nebraska WR Trey Palmer

Up next in the Unpacking Future Packers draft preview series is Nebraska wide receiver Trey Palmer.

The Unpacking Future Packers Countdown is a countdown of 100 prospects that could be selected by the Green Bay Packers in the 2023 NFL draft.

The Green Bay Packers need more playmakers. Christian Watson has the makings of the team’s new No. 1 wide receiver. Romeo Doubs could develop into a solid No. 2 or No. 3 wide receiver. Samori Toure has a spot on the depth chart.

With that trio, the Packers have a solid foundation in place. Now, Brian Gutekunst needs to keep adding pieces to the mix.

Green Bay’s general manager will likely look to bring in a free agent to join the youngsters. Even if they bring in a veteran, Gutekunst will likely add a wide receiver or two in the upcoming draft.

A player that Gutekunst could target is Trey Palmer. The Nebraska wide receiver checks in at No. 44 in the Unpacking Future Packers countdown.

A former five-star recruit and LSU transfer, Palmer enjoyed a breakout campaign during his lone season at Nebraska. Palmer reeled in 71 receptions for 1,043 yards and nine touchdowns. Palmer’s 1,043 receiving yards set a program record for receiving yards in a season. Palmer set a program record for receiving yards in a game with a 237-yard performance against Purdue.

“Palmer was a great addition to the Huskers, giving Nebraska a legit go-to receiver and someone who provided a big play threat,” Brian Johannes, a reporter for Corn Nation said. “During the Purdue game, he took over and helped the Huskers nearly pull the upset. However, when Casey Thompson got hurt and they had to play their backups, Palmer disappeared as they couldn’t get him the ball.”

Palmer, a former track athlete, won a state title in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. He set a Louisiana state meet record in the 200 with a time of 21.11. That speed was on full display at the NFL Scouting Combine when Palmer clocked a 4.33 40-yard time, which was the fastest time among wide receivers. Palmer has a different gear. The Nebraska wide receiver is able to easily accelerate past defensive backs.

“If you watch his release off the line compared to the other Husker receivers it is noticeable,” Johannes said. “His ability to burst off the line and get an initial advantage really helps him. However, he also has that extra gear that allows him to get behind defenses and reel off huge chunk plays. Nebraska even had him do an end around against Purdue that he took to the house. Every team knew that they had to take away the vertical routes with Palmer but he was still able to produce.”

Palmer’s speed makes him a terror in space for opposing teams. If he makes the first defender miss he has the speed to make a house call. Once he gets the ball in his hands, he smashes down on the turbo button. According to Pro Football Focus, Palmer racked up 385 yards after the catch this past season.

“Palmer doesn’t have much wiggle and isn’t going to make many defenders miss,” Johannes said. “But his combination of burst and long speed allows him to hit creases and get yards after the catch.”

With his elite speed, Palmer is one of the better vertical threats in the 2023 NFL Draft. That being said, his route running will need sharpening. The LSU transfer also doesn’t have the stickiest of hands. Palmer finished this past season with 10 drops.

“Palmer has some work to do with his route running as he isn’t overly crips in and out of breaks,” Johannes said. “He tends to round off a lot of his routes. Palmer is at his best working vertically and can show the ability to use leverage and some quick cuts at full speed to get open down the field. Palmer can use that deep threat to open him up underneath but he still doesn’t do well to sink his hips.”

At LSU, Palmer returned a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown. He finished his collegiate career with 27 punt returns and 18 kick returns. He averaged 8.3 yards per punt return and 25.3 yards per kick return.

“Palmer had two return touchdowns at LSU, but wasn’t used as frequently at Nebraska for whatever reason,” Johannes said. “His lack of production could be due to Nebraska’s refusal to return the ball in the punt game and some of their special team blocking woes. Palmer has the traits and the ability to be a returner in the NFL. He can do both punts and kick returns and could end up being a weapon.”

Fit with the Packers

Get Jordan Love more weapons. The Packers have the pieces in place to have a good to even great offensive line. They have a proven one-two punch at running back.

Now, Gutekunst needs to surround Love with weapons at wide receiver and tight end. Palmer is a big-play threat with the speed to put a lot of stress on a defense.

“There has been some buzz that he could go on day two and he has the speed that teams covet,” Johannes said. “But him being a bit limited as a route runner and early day two may be a bit rich.”

Speed kills and the Packers have a need for speed. Palmer’s ability to win vertically could help open things up underneath for the rest of the offense.

Pairing Palmer’s speed with Watson and his world-class speed could create a lot of problems for opposing defenses. He may not be a polished prospect. However, you can’t teach the speed and Palmer has speed for days. Adding an electric playmaker like Palmer will only make life easier for Love.

Nebraska WR Trey Palmer is a perfect fit in the middle rounds

The former Cornhusker could be the missing piece.

It is no secret that the Cleveland Browns offense is set to evolve with new quarterback Deshaun Watson available for the entire season in 2023. The team must get more speed to open things up in the passing attack and Nebraska wide receiver Trey Palmer would check those boxes. Palmer originally played at LSU before transferring to Nebraska and having his best season in 2022.

Players like Palmer are great to add as he has a unique blend of size, strength, and speed. Palmer came in at the NFL Scouting Combine at 6 feet tall weighing 192 pounds and with nearly 32-inch arms. His size shows up in the film as a player that has the tools to make the tough contested catches using his size to his advantage against defensive backs.

His size and strong hands are only part of it, the most appealing part of his game is his truly game-changing speed. Palmer ran a blazing 4.33 40-yard dash it shows on tape as he runs away from defenders. His body control helps him create plenty of separation and produces plenty of explosive plays. The Browns should have Palmer on their draft board this April.
