Malik Nabers attended a Travis Scott concert while concussed and it seemed to irk Brian Daboll

Daboll added that Nabers did not violate any protocol for the Giants.

New York Giants rookie receiver Malik Nabers will miss his second consecutive game after suffering a concussion against the Cowboys.

The former LSU star, who was selected with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, was ruled out for New York’s upcoming game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday night.

Nabers, who is one of the most exciting young players in football, also missed the Giants game against the Seattle Seahawks. He did, however, attend a recent Travis Scott concert.

When asked how the organization felt about that decision, Giants head coach Brian Daboll avoided comment.

Daboll said that the team would keep that “all in-house” rather than discuss it with the press.

He added, however, that it was not a violation of any protocol for the franchise.

Superstar rapper Travis Scott stops by USC football practice

Is a “new cool” being developed at USC? The vibes are good right now.

The USC Trojans continued their series of spring practices this offseason. Earlier this week, they were greeted by rapper and producer Travis Scott.

Cactus Jack, the official brand of multi-platinum, diamond-certified recording artist Travis Scott, has worked with with digital sports outlet Fanatics and leading sports retailer Mitchell & Ness to announce a new, college-inspired apparel collection, “Jack goes back to College.”

This partnership with Fanatics led Scott to nail down an NIL deal with 2025 USC football recruit Julian Lewis.

We noted that deal, which has certainly caught a lot of people’s attention.

Travis Scott could be the 2020s version of what Snoop Dogg was for USC in the Pete Carroll era 20 years ago, injecting a fresh aura of style and modern flair to reinforce the impression that USC is the cool program, the place to be in major college football.

Vibes are good, but now USC has to live up to them and justify them on the field.

Julian Lewis signs NIL with Travis Scott and Cactus Jack

Julian Lewis is taking care of business on multiple levels.

Rapper Travis Scott and his company Cactus Jack have signed USC Trojan football commit Julian “JuJu” Lewis to a new NIL deal.

The company has partnered with Fanatics, alongside Mitchell & Ness, and hat retailer Lids, to launch a capsule clothing collection called Jack Goes Back to College.

Lewis is one of the biggest stars in high school on and off the field.

He threw for 3,094 yards with 48 touchdowns in 2023 for Carrrolton High School in Georgia. He was also named National High School Sophomore of the Year by Max Preps and was a finalist for Gatorade National Player of the Year in 2023 as well.

Lewis committed to USC and Lincoln Riley back on August 22 of 2023. He re-classified from the 2026 class to the 2025 class.

He previously signed a six-figure deal with All Yogan Leaf Trading Cards and has an endorsement deal with the men’s jewelry brand Jaxxon. The Travis Scott angle is interesting to consider at USC. Just how much impact will it have beyond Lewis himself?

Julian Lewis inks an NIL deal with Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack

Julian Lewis signed an NIL deal with Cactus Jack.

One of the nation’s top quarterback prospects has a hot new NIL deal. Julian Lewis, a five-star quarterback and a USC commit, has signed on to endorse the red-hot Cactus Jack brand.

Lewis is the No. 1 ranked player in the nation according to ESPN.

Cactus Jack is the brainchild of Travis Scott, one the top rapper/singer/songwriters as well as being a social media maven.

For those of you who are not familiar with Cactus Jack or Travis Scott, don’t worry. We here at USA TODAY High School Sports can fill you in on why this is significant.

OK, OK. We didn’t know either, but we did research about Scott and his brand. The takeaway? This is a big deal for Lewis.

Scott is a huge deal with four hits that went to No. 1 on the Billboard 100. His social media following is massive.

His apparel line, Cactus Jack, is hugely successful and considered trend-setting. Scott is an entrepreneur extraordinaire, with a net worth of $80 million.

Lewis will feature in the promotion of the “Jack Goes Back to College” line that was released to coincide with this weekend’s Final Four.

Jake from State Farm lived his best life wearing a Kristin Juszczyk design and getting a Travis Scott greeting at Caitlin Clark’s game

Jake from State Farm is living his best life, particularly at Caitlin Clark’s most recent game.

Jake from State Farm — the actor Kevin Miles playing the character who’s like a good neighbor and is there for you — has been everywhere in the sports world recently.

This time? He was in Iowa for Caitlin Clark’s record-breaking night in which she became the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer in a Hawkeyes win over Ohio State.

What’s the coolest is that he was wearing threads designed by Kristin Juszczyk … and when Travis Scott entered the arena, he actually dapped up Jake. Bonus: The actor got to shoot the t-shirt cannon at some point during the game, all of which proved he’s living his best life:

Texans QB C.J. Stroud shows off batting skills at Travis Scott celebrity softball game

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud showed he can play baseball as well as football this winter.

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud can do it all.

He’s already NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and will participate in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game this weekend. And on Thursday, Stroud competed in Travis Scott’s annual Cactus Jack Foundation’s HBCU Celebrity Softball Classic at Minute Maid Park in Houston.

Stroud showed off his batting prowess before the event and then went yard during the game.

“It’s for a good cause, I appreciate Trav having me out,” Stroud said, via KPRC 2. “It’s been a cool couple of hours. I played when I was growing up. I got some swings in. Just having fun, nothing too serious.”

Stroud also extrapolated on his “we all wanna play baseball” quote from this past November (Spoiler: It’s all about the guaranteed money in their contracts). He added that he wouldn’t try to do too much in the basketball game this weekend in Indianapolis – a relief to the Texans and fans alike, no doubt.

Stroud wasn’t the only high-profile NFL players in attendance. Buffalo Bills wideout Stefon Diggs, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin, former NFL running back Adrian Peterson, former NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel and fellow Texans star Tank Dell were also there.

Dell’s appearance was especially encouraging he is just months removed from a season-ending leg injury. Dell was seen walking around and throwing the ball, seemingly a good sign from the recent update about his broken fibula surgery.

This is the winter of Stroud, though, after he led the Texans to the AFC South title and then a wild card win in his first NFL season. There will undoubtably be loftier expectations for Houston in 2024, but for now Stroud and company are riding high in the offseason before the team begins to make more moves ahead of next year.

Post-retirement Nick Saban was spotted gleefully golfing with Travis Scott in Instagram story

Nick Saban was spotted with Travis Scott at a celebrity golf tournament on Monday.

After a legendary coaching tenure that featured seven national championships, Nick Saban seems to be enjoying retirement life.

While a viral video of Saban boogie boarding which made the rounds last week turned out to be from a few years ago, his latest excursion is legit. Saban was golfing with rapper Travis Scott while sporting his trademark red sweater and Alabama straw hat.

Scott uploaded a picture of the pair to his Instagram story on Monday afternoon.

The pair were together in Palm City, Florida, for a celebrity golf tournament hosted by Scott. The tournament raises money for the Mr. October Foundation, which provides educational opportunities in STEM fields for youth in underserved communities.

The event had quite the celebrity tournament with more than 25 stars in attendance, according to Golf Digest: Derek Jeter, Barry Bonds, Jerry Rice and Lil Wayne, just to name a few.

Saban certainly has more time on his hands for golf these days, and he seemed to enjoy himself with his new friend.

Dan Lanning details meeting Michael Jordan, Derek Jeter at national championship game

Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning broke down his experience meeting Michael Jordan and Derek Jeter at the national championship game.

Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning turned a large number of heads earlier this week when he popped up in Houston, Texas, for the College Football Playoff national championship game.

While he wasn’t coaching in the game, Lanning accepted an invite from ESPN to join the broadcast crew and help preview the game. He knew well what type of challenges the Washington Huskies presented, and had an idea of what the Michigan Wolverines needed to do to stop them.

Lanning also explained in an interview with Oregon radio host John Canzano this week that it offered a great recruiting tool for the Ducks, allowing them to stay in the spotlight even when not playing on the biggest stage.

“That’s usually a night in college football where everyone is talking about the two teams on TV,” Lanning said on “The Bald Faced Truth.” “But we felt like it was an opportunity for there to be another team that they’re talking about.”

Getting to sit down with Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis, Chris Fowler and Pat McAfee was not the highlight of Lanning’s night, though. He told Canzano on Thursday that it was a trio of others he met during the game that really stole the show.

“I got to meet Michael Jordan. Like, I got to touch him,” Lanning said. “He touched me on the shoulder, I haven’t washed my shoulder yet. I’ve Facetimed with him a couple of times, but I got to (meet) him, Derek Jeter, Travis Scott. Come on man, that’s a moment where you pinch yourself, like ‘What’s this dude from Richmond, Missouri, doing hanging out in a suite with Michael Jordan, Travis Scott, and Derek Jeter?'”

Lanning said that, while had had met Travis Scott before when the rapper and fashion designer was in Eugene for the 2022 World Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field, he left this meeting with a picture of himself and No. 23 to put into his collection of memorabilia.

Canzano also did a great job of asking a very notable question: What do you learn from being in the presence of superstars like this, if anything at all?

“I think by just watching them; I don’t think you have to be standing next to them to do so,” Lanning said. “Like, if I were able to sit down and say ‘Hey, let’s take two hours,’ then I would be the guy with a notebook out writing down a million things. But that hasn’t been my experience yet. There’s no doubt that there is a ton to learn from those guys. The thing that sticks out to you about guys like Jeter and Jordan is just like, they’re ultimate competitors. It doesn’t matter what the game is, these guys play to win, they work so hard at their craft to be the greatest, and that’s the part that separates them.”

We’ve seen Lanning bring an icon like Phil Knight to football practices before, obviously, but might this mean we get to see some people like Jordan, Jeter, or Scott in Eugene to talk with the team? I wouldn’t put it past him.

Ian Eagle gave a brilliant play-by-play breakdown of Travis Scott spilling his drink on himself

Ian Eagle: “I don’t know if I’ve seen celebrity spillage to that effect.”

While sitting courtside at Barclays Center to watch the Nets, a loose ball went out of bounds and knocked directly into rapper Travis Scott.

Ian Eagle, a longtime broadcaster who was just named the best announcer of the year by Awful Announcing, was ready with a perfect summary of exactly what happened.

As noted by Eagle, the ball came off Knicks guard Immanuel Quickley and made its way directly toward Scott’s drink. Eagle had some terrific calls as it happened.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • “BANG! Right there. Oh wow. That’s a geyser.”
  • “Look at that. I don’t know if I’ve seen celebrity spillage to that effect.”
  • “Oh. He’s just going to open up another can. When you’re Travis Scott, you just go to the next can.”
  • “Think about where this has to hit. Right there and then boom: an eruption. That’s like lava.”
  • “The man just wanted to have a drink.”

This was just brilliant work by Eagle, who is considered one of the best in the business for a reason.
