Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire opens up about friendship with Travis Kelce: ‘Look at him as a big brother’

Kansas City #Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire opens up about friendship with Travis Kelce: ‘Look at him as a big brother’ | @EdEastonJr

Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire has opened up recently about his ongoing battle with PTSD. During his appearance on the ‘The Pivot‘ podcast, he addressed his progress and revealed a teammate who has helped him through issues.

“Travis (Kelce) is real heartfelt, probably not the most religious person, but he’s going to speak whatever he feels at the time. The amount of time that I was spending with Travis, bro, was unreal. I really look at him as a big brother, and I needed somebody to lean on.” said Edwards-Helaire. “My first year in the league was the COVID year, which literally kept us isolated from each other. But the only person that’ll do those things reach out and make sure I’m good, text me on random days was Travis, like, bro, you good? Like he was the only one. He’ll notice when I’m kind of jacked up in the morning in meetings and all this other stuff, real, aware of his surroundings.”

Over the years, Travis Kelce has been praised by many teammates for his generous nature behind the scenes. Edwards-Helaire revealed his continued effort to help him through the progress.

“I felt comfortable with him. I could talk to him,” said Edwards-Helaire. “He’ll tell me whatever he is, not necessarily swinging my mind one way or another, but it was somebody I could vent to, and it didn’t get any better than that, bro, like, we wouldn’t necessarily get to the details of everything, he knew the story. Everybody knew that’s just what it is. But the way Travis and I would talk was more heartfelt than anything.”

Edwards-Helaire has been involved in two Super Bowl championships with the Chiefs and says he views Kelce as a best friend on the team.

“I’ve been in with the Chiefs five years, and probably, been my best friend since I walked in the door; he called me GBC, ‘Good Brother Clyde.’ Got nicknames and everything, and that was another thing, like bro, out of all things, that’s his nickname for me, Clyde, make sure everybody good. It doesn’t matter the situation. Don’t worry about it. Call ‘Good Brother Clyde,’ he’ll get you right.” said Edwards-Helaire. “That kind of resonated with me, not only him knowing and seeing that Clyde was going to make sure everybody was good, but to his aspect of being a team leader and being that dude that kind of everybody looks up to; it was different when he was looking out for me. I think that’s what made our friendship and brotherhood just unbreakable.”

This is a positive peak behind the scenes of the Chiefs’ relationship dynamics, as they have grown more profound than just teammates. Their strong bond has led to much success on the football field in recent years.

Chiefs OC Matt Nagy describes veteran wide receiver’s ‘instant synergy’ with Patrick Mahomes

Kansas City #Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy describes DeAndre Hopkins’ ‘instant synergy’ with Patrick Mahomes | @EdEastonJr

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy addressed the media on Thursday, gushing about DeAndre Hopkins’ quick grasp of the gameplan and syncing up with Patrick Mahomes.

There’s there has been an instant synergy with Pat (Patrick Mahomes) and DeAndre (Hopkins) instant, and sometimes those take a lot more for some guys than others, but he’s come in here and has just picked up.” said Nagy. “I don’t use the term lightly, but these guys are really Pat and D-Hop are really thinking the same way on certain routes, especially in zone, which is crazy because it doesn’t normally always happen like that. It normally takes time, but from the first practice, second practice, till our last game. “

Hopkins fits in seamlessly with the offense and Mahomes. In his home Arrowhead Stadium debut last Monday night, he caught eight passes for 86 yards and two touchdowns.

“There’s some stuff in there that he that they’re putting on tape that makes it tough, especially when you put (Travis) Kelce on the same side, or other side that thinks the same way,” said Nagy. “As long as he and Pat have been doing it, that’s tough.

Since arriving in Kansas City, Kelce has praised Hopkins for his veteran skills. Both players were vital to the overtime victory in Week 9.

“So it’s really neat to see when guys are thinking like Pat, and for D-Hop, he’s been doing it a long time,” said Nagy. “it’s been instant with him.”

A Travis Kelce Jeopardy clue has a funny Taylor Swift twist

This was funny.

It was an easy Jeopardy! clue, a $200 one in the category of “The TV Show in Question,” but it’s still worth highlighting because it made me giggle.

‘Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?”; is hosted by the man who’s maybe more famous as a BF than as a 3-time Super Bowl champ,” it read.

Yep, you knew it the second you saw it, as did the contestant on Wednesday’s edition of the syndicated game show: Who is Travis Kelce?

Some might argue he’s AS famous as a boyfriend to Taylor Swift, but that’s nitpicking.

Here’s that moment from Wednesday’s game:

Chiefs HC Andy Reid reflects on Xavier Worthy stepping out of bounds: ‘He’ll learn from it’

Kansas City #Chiefs head coach Andy Reid reflects on Xavier Worthy stepping out of bounds: ‘He’ll learn from it’ | @EdEastonJr

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has led his team to a second 8-0 start since being hired by the franchise 12 years ago. During his tenure, he’s seen many things, including rookie mishaps during games.

Reid spoke with reporters on Wednesday before practice, sharing his thoughts on Xavier Worthy’s incompletion on a big pass play because he accidentally stepped out of bounds.

“Yeah, he’s doing a good job. He just had that look of stepping out of bounds there. I mean, but what a great route. That was an adjustment he made to put himself in that position off of the route.” Reid said. “He’s doing a good job. He didn’t have his number dialed up as much as he did the weeks in the past. I mean, most of the stuff going to (Travis) Kelce and “Eight” (DeAndre Hopkins). But there’ll be weeks like that; his numbers called up more. That just says how it goes in these games.”

Worthy remains valuable to the Chiefs offense, although his targets have dipped since Hopkins’ arrival. Reid continued to explain that the talented fest round pick will learn from the mistake and do better moving forward.

“They plotted that side. He adjusted back outside and was able to escape where you get yourself forced wide. He was able to keep himself in bounds and escape that corner, not force him wider than the play normally brings you to so. But I thought he did a great job on that part.” said Reid. “He’ll learn from that, young guy. He’ll learn from it. You won’t see him step out of bounds very often. It was good, he can take something positive out of it, and then he could take something he can learn from out of it, too.”

Reid knows Worthy is an offensive weapon that can be utilized in different ways now that Hopkins is on the team.

The Fever rookie is a “Swiftie through-and-through.”

A new episode of the New Heights podcast dropped Wednesday morning as Jason and Travis Kelce addressed the latest in NFL, pop culture and more. Travis Kelce gives love to Jason Kelce on New Heights after Penn State phone throwing incident

Jason Kelce regretted his actions, but Travis Kelce gave him some love in response.

Jason Kelce once again expressed regret for his actions and words after he was filmed responding to an anti-LGBTQ word said to him about his brother by throwing the person’s phone to the ground at Penn State.

He started off the latest New Heights podcast by talking about it and saying he regretted reacting.

“Now, it’s out there and it just perpetuates more hate,” he said.

But his brother, Travis, gave him love in response.

“The real situation is you had some [expletive] clown come up to you and talk about your family, and you reacted in a way that was defending your family, and you might’ve used some words that you regret using,” he said. “And that’s a situation you’ve just got to learn from and own. I think you owning it and you speaking about it shows how sincere you are to a lot of people in this world. … You don’t choose hate, that’s just not who you are. I love you brother, I think you said that perfectly.”

“She’s fun, she’s loving, she’s sweet.”

The friendship between Chariah Gordon and Taylor Swift continues to grow. The duo bonded last season at a suite at Arrowhead Stadium, and an adorably sweet picture posted by Gordon of her, her fiancé Mecole Hardman, Swift and Travis Kelce was one of the first glimpses fans saw of the 14-time Grammy winners relationship with the Kansas City tight end.

In a recent exclusive interview with PEOPLE Gordon described what it’s like hanging out with arguably the most famous woman in the world. “She’s fun, she’s loving, she’s sweet,” Gordon said of Swift. “We have a good time and we are there to support our men. While we mostly see Gordon and Swift together at Chiefs games, the former recently made the trip to Indianapolis to take in Swift’s Eras Tour show. Gordon likes to keep things private for the “Fortnight” singer, but they have also done some postgame recaps together and those group photos that the Swifties love so much.

Kansas City #Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce discusses his fumble vs. the Tampa Bay #Buccaneers: ‘I almost handed it away’ | @EdEastonJr

The Kansas City Chiefs pulled out a thrilling overtime victory in the pouring rain on Monday Night Football. The Arrowhead Stadium crowd supported their stars, including tight end Travis Kelce, who had a career night.

After the 30-24 victory, Kelce sat down with ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt, recapping his fourteen-catch, 100-yard night in front of the fans of Chiefs Kingdom. He immediately addressed his fumble in the first half, stalling a promising drive.

“I almost handed it away today a few times, and I’m lucky that my guys were right there for me,” said Kelce. “It’s a culture, man. It’s a culture set from the big man (Andy Reid) down, and everybody just believes at all times that we’re gonna get it done because we’ve done it in the past. We keep doing it on nights like tonight. I’ll tell you what when Arrowhead (Stadium) is rocking like it was tonight. Man, it’s hard to lose in this place.”

The Chiefs have now won a record fourteen consecutive games, counting back to last season, and Kelce and his teammates credit the winning culture.

Final score: Chiefs sink Buccaneers 30-24 in overtime on ‘Monday Night Football’

The Kansas City #Chiefs defeated the Tampa Bay #Buccaneers 30-24 in overtime on “Monday Night Football.”

The Kansas City Chiefs advanced their record to 8-0 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on “Monday Night Football” in Week 9, winning the Super Bowl LV rematch 30-24 in overtime.

The Chiefs trailed Tampa Bay 10-17 heading into the fourth quarter but mounted a late-game comeback led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes to remain undefeated heading into Week 10.

Mahomes threw for 291 yards, tossed three touchdown passes, and completed 34 of his 44 attempts. Star tight end Travis Kelce led Kansas City in receiving yards, but it was newly-acquired wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins who stole the show with two touchdown catches.

For their part, Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers put up a great fight, but couldn’t quite break through to spoil the Chiefs’ perfect season.

Defensively, Kansas City was led by linebacker Drue Tranquill, who combined for seven tackles and was credited with half a sack.

The Chiefs are set to face the Denver Broncos in Week 10 with a chance to advance to 9-0.
