Travis Kelce made history with impressive performance vs. Chargers

#Chiefs TE Travis Kelce made history during Kansas City’s Week 14 matchup against the Los Angeles #Chargers on ‘Sunday Night Football’

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has become one of the most decorated players in the NFL since entering the league in 2013, and he set another record during the defending Super Bowl champions’ Week 14 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Kelce went into Sunday’s game with 11,965 career yards, just 35 yards shy of becoming the fastest tight end in NFL history to reach 12,000 yards.

When Kelce caught a seven-yard pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the third quarter of the AFC West showdown, he officially passed Chiefs legend Tony Gonzalez to achieve the incredible feat.

The NFL paid homage to Kelce’s historic record in a post on Twitter:

Though Kelce hasn’t caught as many touchdown passes as he has in years past, he has remained Mahomes’ favorite target in the passing game and has been among Kansas City’s most productive players this season.

Stay tuned to see if Kelce can continue his run of dominance against the Cleveland Browns in Week 15.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid describes the game-winning drive vs. Chargers: ‘I wasnā€™t too worried’

The Kansas City Chiefs thrillingly won another game over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday night, showcasing excellent late-game execution. Head Coach Andy Reid spoke with reporters after the game, breaking down the strategy for the final moments.

“I mean, I have trust in Matthew (Wright), so I was good with where we were. Percentages are pretty high; I know we’ve won a game in that same situation on the opposite end, so I get it, but he’s a solid kicker,” said Reid. “I wasn’t too worried about it once we got down in there. Now to get down in there was a nice job by our guys. That play that Pat (Mahomes) and (Travis) Kelce made right there at the end was something ā€“ that’s not quite the way it was drawn up.”

The completion from Patrick Mahomes to Travis Kelce setting up Wright’s opportunity was drawn up differently, but his star players’ improvisation made it successful.

“It was a naked ā€“ with a back and a slide, and they zoned it off. Pat (Mahomes) had it in his hands, which is important, and on the move, which is important. He does some good things with that, and then we had some people coming to him.” said Reid. “Listen, I thought the Chargers did a nice job with that, but they zoned us off; that’s more of a man, though. They had been playing man up to that point, they had been zero blitzing us so if they would have done that, that would have been a great call.”

The Chiefs are finding ways to win games late and will have the opportunity to clinch the top seed in the conference within the next few weeks.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes praises the latest Travis Kelce milestone: ‘The hardest working dude’

Kansas City #Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes praises the latest Travis Kelce milestone: ‘The hardest working dude’ | @EdEastonJr

The Kansas City Chiefs AFC West-clinching victory over the Los Angeles Chargers was more than a victory for one of their star players. Patrick Mahomes took time in his postgame press conference to honor the latest career accomplishment from teammate Travis Kelce.

ā€œHe (Travis Kelce) means the world to me, man. I mean, without getting emotional ā€“ heā€™s a guy who has really kind of made me who I am in my career, and (heā€™s a) true leader on the football field. Someone ā€“ everybody says ā€˜security blanketā€™ but someone that I can go to at any moment, and heā€™s going to make a big play happen.” said Mahomes. “As heā€™s gone throughout his career, heā€™s never dropped off as far as his work ethic and the way he leads, and I think thatā€™s super important when you have a guy thatā€™s going to have a gold jacket, and heā€™s the hardest working dude on the team.ā€

Kelce became the fastest tight end to 12,000 career yards in the win and had the game-sealing reception to set up kicker Matthew Wright’s game-winning field goal.

ā€œI think just both. Just in terms as a player, obviously, heā€™s (Travis Kelce) someone that ā€“ he plays in the same wavelength that I do, and itā€™s hard to do that, and I think you see (that) it takes guys time because it seems like from the first day Iā€™ve kind of been on that same page with Trav.” said Mahomes. “Then, seeing him work every day, everybody sees like the personality on the TV and stuff like that, but you donā€™t see that everyday work ethic that he has. I mean, heā€™s the guy that gets mad when they take him out of practice reps. Thatā€™s just the type of work ethic (that) he has. Even for me, to come into the league and have a superstar player and see him work like that, it kind of showed me that Iā€™m going to have to put that work ethic in if I want to get to that level.ā€

Kelce continues to rise in the league record books, and his performances show no signs of slowing down after an unusual start to the season that had many critics questioning his football future.

Taylor Swift did a final ā€˜Karma is the guy on the Chiefsā€™ lyric change on last Eras Tour night

Travis Kelce had a game, but he was in Vancouver in spirit.

Emotions were high on Sunday night as Taylor Swift wrapped the Eras Tour after 149 shows. The 14-time Grammy winner has been touring almost non-stop since March of 2023, performing her 3-hour show across five continents.

To close in Vancouver, Swift took the chance to deploy what had become a very popular lyric change in her final song of the night, “Karma.” Swift started dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce last summer, and has sporadically sung “karma is the guy on the Chiefs” instead of “karma is the guy on the screen.”

Previously, Swift would only sing the line if Kelce was in attendance, but has used it a few times during football season when he had a game.

Did Taylor Swift attend Travis Kelceā€™s game for Chiefs-Chargers on Sunday night?

Did the 14-time Grammy winner make the trip to Kansas City?

Taylor Swift was in attendance last week as the Chiefs once again pulled off a narrow victory — leading to even Jason Kelce talking about the “Tayvoodoo” phenomenon — and boyfriend Travis Kelce’s team was back at Arrowhead Stadium again on Sunday night. Many wondered if the 14-time Grammy winner would be able to make the game with her schedule.

As it turns out, the The Tortured Poets Department singer was not able to go support Kelce and Kansas City Sunday evening. Swift was in Vancouver, British Columbia for the final of 149 shows of her mega popular Eras Tour.

Swift performed the Eras Tour across five continents and toured for nearly two years straight. With four games left on the season, the Chiefs are only at home one more time, when they play the Texans on December 21.

Will Taylor Swift be at Travis Kelce’s game for Chiefs-Chargers?

Will Taylor Swift be there for the Week 14 game?

It’s that time again.

Travis Kelce continues to play NFL games in 2024, and Taylor Swift has had some time when she could once again come to cheer him on at Kansas City Chiefs games. She was there for the Week 1 win and attended the Week 2 victory. She wasn’t there for the Week 3 game in Atlanta or Week 4 in L.A., but she showed up to Week 5 against the Saints and was there for the Week 9 game against the Buccaneers and Week 10 for the Broncos game.

So the question is: will she be there for the Week 14 matchup on Sunday night between the Chiefs and the Chargers? According to our handy Taylor Swift calendar, and, well, what we know, the answer is: No.

Swift is having her final Eras Tour show on Sunday night in Vancouver. Even though it’s a home game for Kelce and the Chiefs, and she’s attended only home games in 2024, there’s no way for her to do both.

But maybe we’ll now see her the rest of the season?

Will Travis Kelce attend Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour dates in Vancouver?

Will we get to see Travis Kelce in Vancouver for the last Eras Tour stop in Canada?

We’ve seen Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift spend a bunch of time together over the fall as she’s had a break from the Eras Tour.

She’s been to a few games played by the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and the pair spent time together including at a New York Yankees playoff game.

Now, Swift is about to finish the Eras Tour this weekend, so you might wonder: given that the NFL season is in full swing, will Kelce somehow be able to sneak away to see her perform again in Vancouver?

The answer is: … almost definitely no. Kelce and the Chiefs are playing at home on Sunday night against the Los Angeles Chargers, so it’s not possible for him to dash over to Vancouver and make it back.

He’s been at those concerts a bunch, though. It’s been fun!

Chiefs nominate TE Travis Kelce for Walter Payton Man of the Year Award

Star TE Travis Kelce is the Kansas City #Chiefs’ nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award.

With nine Pro Bowls, four All-Pro selections, and three Super Bowl rings, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is one of the most decorated players in the NFL, and now he has a chance to add another accolade to his list of accomplishments.

On Thursday, the Chiefs announced they were selecting Kelce to be the nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year, which recognizes players who excel both on and off the field.

Since arriving in Kansas City in 2013, the All-Pro has been deeply rooted in the local community and even founded the 87 and Running Foundation, which empowers disadvantaged youth to achieve success by providing resources and support to their communities.

Fans can vote on Twitter by posting #WPMOYChallenge along with the name Kelce/Kelce’s Twitter handle (@tkelce) or by voting directly on NFL.com/ManOfTheYear.

Since the creation of the award in 1970, then called the NFL Man of the Year, five Chiefs have had the honor of receiving the award, with legendary offensive lineman Brian Waters winning most recently in 2009.
