Watch: Steph Curry and trainer Brandon Payne host minicamp with Trae Young, OG Anunoby and other NBA players

The Warriors star guard was on the court with Trae Young, Og Anunoby, Seth Curry, Moses Moody and other NBA players at a recent mini camp.

With the start of the training camp looming, Golden State Warriors point guard Steph Curry is getting ready in the gym.

Before the start of the 2023-24 NBA campaign, Curry and his longtime trainer Brandon Payne of Accelarate Basketball hosted a recent minicamp with multiple other members of the Warriors and other NBA players in Las Vegas.

Along with Brandin Podziemski, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Moses Moody and Lester Quinones, other NBA players Trae Young, Seth Curry, Josh Christopher, Kenneth Faried and Kent Bazemore joined Curry and Payne at the minicamp in Last Vegas. UConn basketball guard Azzi Fudd also joined the camp.

During the camp, the players worked on fundamentals and shooting drills.

Watch highlights from Curry and Payne’s minicamp via YouTube:

Along with hosting a camp in Las Vegas with NBA players, Curry recently organized a players-only camp for the Warriors. Every member of the Warriors except for Dario Saric was in attendance.

Training camp for the Warriors is scheduled to start on Oct. 2 in San Francisco. The Warriors’ preseason slate will start five days later on Oct. 7 against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Skip Bayless: Trae Young would be a bad fit on the Lakers

Fox Sports 1’s Skip Bayless doesn’t like the idea of the Lakers trading for Trae Young, a move that has been rumored about lately.

Although the Los Angeles Lakers appear to have a championship-caliber roster heading into training camp for the 2023-24 season, they still seem to have at least a passing interest in acquiring yet another star.

Days ago, Jovan Buha of The Athletic noted Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks has been on the Lakers’ radar for some time. Buha even implied that the team could continue to be interested in acquiring him, depending on how events unfold in the coming months.

Some Lakers fans may be enamored with the idea of getting Young, but Fox Sports 1 personality Skip Bayless warned Young wouldn’t be a good fit for the Purple and Gold (h/t The Cold Wire).

Bayless noted how Young is a very high-volume 3-point shooter yet he shoots a low percentage from that distance. In addition, he’s turnover-prone and a defensive liability due to his modest stature.

In fact, the commentator said Young on the Lakers would be a “bad combination” and compared it to the failed experiment with Russell Westbrook.

Los Angeles seems to be set at guard with D’Angelo Russell and the emerging Austin Reaves as its incumbent starters and Gabe Vincent and Max Christie backing them up. But one can never be sure what could happen once events shake out in the first couple of months of the NBA season, especially with a number of teams having loaded up this offseason.

Trae Young listed as potential trade target for the Brooklyn Nets

Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young was recently listed as a potential trade target for the Brooklyn Nets.

The Brooklyn Nets have made plenty of moves this offseason to try to make the team as good as possible for the team to make a playoff run next season. However, once an NBA season begins, anything can happen once teams see how good/bad they are.

In a recent article by Bleacher Report, Zach Buckley said that Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young could be a potential trade target for the Nets at some point next season. Even though there hasn’t been any rumblings of the Hawks actively looking to trade Young, but Brooklyn was on the hunt for a superstar this summer with regards to Damian Lillard.

While Lillard seems to be a longshot because of reports that he only wants to play for the Miami Heat, there are other stars to be had for the right price in the right circumstances. To that point, if Atlanta plays worse than expected next season, Young could be a name to look out for for a possible trade.

Buha: Trae Young has been on the Lakers’ radar

The Lakers pursuit of a third star may not be over yet.

The Los Angeles Lakers have a history of being mesmerized by star players, and while they have struck out on several such players in recent years, they have, by and large, been pretty successful in landing them throughout their history.

Although they have a roster that looks to be championship-caliber, it hasn’t stopped them from having interest in adding a third star again.

Of course, they traded for Russell Westbrook two years ago, a deal that turned out to be a failure. Earlier this offseason, they reportedly had interest in Chris Paul, Kyrie Irving and Trae Young before deciding to stay the course and retain their core from late last season.

But according to The Athletic’s Jovan Buha, Young has been on L.A.’s radar for a while, and he suggested the star guard could remain on its radar (h/t Lakers Daily).

Via The Athletic:

“Trae Young has long been on Los Angeles’ radar, depending on how his situation unfolds in Atlanta,” Buha wrote.

The Atlanta Hawks guard may not be the best candidate for the Lakers if they decide to reload. While he averaged 26.2 points and 10.2 assists a game this past season, he shot only 42.9% overall and 33.5% from 3-point range.

Given that he is an inefficient, high-volume 3-point shooter who doesn’t play a ton of defense and is listed at just 6-foot-1 and 164 pounds, perhaps the Lakers have no reason to be interested in acquiring him.

Lifelong Sooner Trae Young stops by Norman to run with Oklahoma Basketball

Forever Sooner Trae Young stopped by campus this week to hoop with Oklahoma’s men’s basketball team.

College hoops are steadily creeping closer. While college football is and will be all the rage for the next few months, it won’t be long before the two sports intersect.

For now, teams across the country are conditioning, doing skill work, scrimmaging, and putting in the necessary work to be as cohesive as possible. So when November comes, they can hit the ground running.

Outside of the daunting Big 12 schedule, the Oklahoma Sooners most significant hurdle this season may be the men in the mirror.

They’ll be taking on some of the best basketball teams in the country while being a virtually brand-new team. There’s little production returning and even less chemistry than they had the year before. Porter Moser and his staff have added eight new players after a mass departure at the end of the 2022-2023 season.

The time in the gym this offseason couldn’t be more valuable for Oklahoma. The Sooners got a major surprise as one of the program’s best of all time came through Norman, laced up his kicks, and put the youngsters to work on the court.

Two-time All-Star and 2022 All-NBA third-team member Trae Young stomped by his old stomping grounds and hooped with the team on Wednesday. This was a day after Blake Griffin stopped by to chat with Porter Moser’s crew.

As one would expect, Young did Trae Young things.

One of the best clips in the highlight put together by the Oklahoma Basketball media team was what looked like Young giving some advice to Sooners transfer Javian McCollum.

McCollum is Oklahoma’s de facto point guard this year. He’s a talented player that has a lot of potential. He’ll have the keys to the offense after transferring in from Siena.

It’s good to see Oklahoma’s point guard soaking up knowledge from one of the NBA’s best facilitators. Unlocking and opening up Oklahoma’s offense is a major key to raising this season. It all starts with your lead guard.

Since being drafted in 2018, Trae Young has led the NBA in assists. If Trae Young is talking to you about facilitating, running an offense, or passing, it’s probably important to be all ears.

With Trae and Blake stopping by to visit with OU’s squad, it would be nice to see Austin Reaves stop by this offseason for a little pickup with the current Sooners. Reaves is currently a key cog for Team USA as they look to win the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

Still having a player like Trae Young stop by is great for a program looking to improve off of Porter Moser’s first two seasons. There’s a lot of talent on this year’s squad, it just needs to mesh for the Sooners to make a tournament appearance.

Working against one of the NBA’s best is fantastic experience for roster looking to put the last two years in the rearview.

Hawks’ Trae Young shares pictures from workout with Steph Curry

The Hawks All-Star point guard linked up with Steph Curry for a workout over the offseason.

During the summer of Steph Curry, the Golden State Warriors point guard squeezed in a workout with another All-Star sharpshooter.

Despite a busy offseason that included a win on the golf course, an appearance at Drake’s concert, singing with the band Paramore at Chase Center and releasing his own documentary, Curry made time for workouts alongside Atlanta’s Trae Young.

In a recent post on Instagram, the Atlanta Hawks point guard shared a series of photos that included a picture with Curry on the court. Young and the two-time Most Valuable Player were working out with Curry’s longtime trainer, Brandon Payne of Accelerate Basketball.

Young’s post also included a photo from his appearance on the “Point Forward” podcast with Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner.

Mock trade has Nets trading Ben Simmons for Trae Young

In this mock trade suggested by James Piercey of the NBA Analysis Network, the Brooklyn Nets would be trading Ben Simmons for Trae Young.

The Brooklyn Nets have made it through the majority of their offseason and now have their roster set for next season barring any trades or additional free-agency moves. Now with the summer league in the rearview mirror, the Nets have their eyes set on training camp in the fall.

Brooklyn has been trying to make its team as competitive as possible for next season given how last season ended in the first round of the playoffs against the Philadelphia 76ers where the Nets failed to win a single game. Last season showed where Brooklyn could improve so that they’re better able to compete with the better teams in the Eastern Conference.

As of right now, Brooklyn has been linked to players like Damian Lillard and Tyler Herro. However, since Lillard only wants to play for the Miami Heat, it’s possible that the Nets’ biggest splash this summer would be trading for Herro. With that trade possibly happening months from now, let’s take a look at this mock trade suggested by James Piercey of the NBA Analysis Network involving another player who could help the Nets be more competitive:

5 most important players for Oklahoma Sooners Basketball in 2023-2024

Taking a look at five players that are important to Oklahoma’s 2023 season as they attempt to bounce back from two disappointing years.

Oklahoma’s men’s basketball team needs a big-time bounce-back season. After consecutive seasons of missing the NCAA Tournament, Oklahoma heads into 2023-2024 facing the possibility of three consecutive missed tournaments. That hasn’t happened since the gap in tournament appearances from 2009-2013.

Head coach Porter Moser will face his most difficult challenge yet. Not only is the pressure on for him to lead Oklahoma to the NCAA Tournament, he’ll have to do it with the Big 12, adding schools like BYU and new perennial hoops powerhouse Houston to the nation’s best basketball conference.

It won’t be easy, and the effects of the last two years of failure reverberated thru the program. The Sooners saw six players from last year’s roster hit the transfer portal and seek other college basketball opportunities elsewhere. They also lost two veteran presences, Grant Sherfield and Tanner Groves, who play for the Phoenix Suns and OKC Thunder in the NBA Summer League.

To be able to compete, Porter Moser and his staff turned to the transfer portal to replenish what they lost. Oklahoma welcomed transfers from across the country. They brought in talent from the ACC, MAAC, PAC 12, and the Western Athletic Conference.

Oklahoma will look like a brand new team next season, and based on last year’s results, it’s hard to see how that could be a bad thing. However, how will Porter Moser make it work when looking past the surface level? Who will Oklahoma depend on with Grant Sherfield, Tanner Groves, Jalen Hill, and others not on the court?

After looking at the roster and factoring in returnees, we believe these five players are the most important for the Sooners to fight back into the NCAA tournament.

Three Sooners make ESPN’s top 25 basketball players in the last 25 years

A trio of former Oklahoma Sooners were named to ESPN’s top 25 college basketball players in the last 25 years.

It’s been a few years since the Sooners had a true game-changer on the court.

Austin Reaves was a solid college player who has blossomed into a really good NBA player, but he wasn’t someone you knew would be special. He’s continued to grow his game since departing Oklahoma.

ESPN ranked the 25 best players in the last 25 years, and three Sooners made the list. Seeing where the basketball program is today, it’s crazy to think just how many great players have come through the program in the last 25 years.

It’s probably easy to guess who those three are, with two of them being homegrown products and another being known for his upbringing in the Bahamas.

7 targets (Fred VanVleet!) who can replace Chris Paul as the Suns look for their new point guard

Here is why some of these options do (and do not!) make sense.

The uncomfortable truth: Chris Paul may be over as a serviceable guard who can provide positive value on the court for a contender.

After he was traded to the Phoenix Suns, Paul helped turn the organization into one of the best teams in the league. But he is averaging a career-low 13.9 points per game and he has struggled to stay healthy enough to remain on the floor for prolonged periods.

As such, according to league insider Marc Stein, the “word is” that this has caused the Suns to “start assessing” what their future looks like once he is no longer their point guard.

With that in mind, here are seven of the potential trade targets that Phoenix may pursue at the deadline as they consider long-term replacements for CP3.
