WATCH: Wisconsin WR Will Pauling is going off against LSU

As this article is being written, the Wisconsin Badgers currently hold a 28-21 lead over the No. 13 LSU Tigers in the ReliaQuest Bowl.

Yes, many top LSU players including Heisman Trophy winner QB Jayden Daniels opted out of the game. But the Badgers were double-digit underdogs entering the contest, yet might be playing their best game of the season.

One big piece of that is outgoing QB Tanner Mordecai. He is 18/27 for 259 yards and three touchdowns midway through the third quarter. Another bright spot and someone who will be a huge piece of the team next year: wide receiver Will Pauling.

Pauling went off in the first half, catching five passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns.

His burst and explosion made it look like Wisconsin was the SEC power with the nation’s top wide receivers, instead of LSU on the opposing sideline.

Wisconsin and LSU have gone back and forth offensively day, making for an entertaining product. For the Badgers going forward, it’s great news big contributors like Pauling look primed for a huge 2024.

WATCH: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes hits Isiah Pacheco for touchdown vs. Bengals

#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes hit Isiah Pacheco with a perfect pass to score Kansas City’s first touchdown against the #Bengals in Week 17.

Patrick Mahomes didn’t waste any time getting in rhythm against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 17 after hitting star running back Isiah Pacheco for a touchdown on the Kansas City Chiefs’ first offensive possession.

The seven-point score came after a grueling drive that saw Pacheco take three carries for 46 yards to help set Kansas City up in the red zone. Then, on a third and goal with just over three minutes left in the first quarter, Mahomes hit Pacheco with a perfect pass in the end zone to give the Chiefs an early lead.

In a game where Andy Reid is looking to simplify his offense against Kansas City’s bitter playoff rival, plays like this can help the Chiefs build momentum after a brutal five-game stretch where the team nearly lost its grip on the AFC West lead.

Expect Reid to continue getting Mahomes some easy reads as Kansas City seeks its tenth win of the 2023 season.

WATCH: Sam Howell throws dime to Terry McLaurin to set up Commanders’ touchdown

An excellent throw from Sam Howell set up Washington’s first touchdown vs. 49ers.

It’s been a rough few weeks for Washington quarterback Sam Howell and the offense. Howell was benched in favor of Jacoby Brissett in the last two games and watched Brissett lead the Commanders to five touchdowns in his drives under center.

Brissett was supposed to start Sunday but injured his hamstring in practice late in the week, paving the way for Howell’s return.

How would the second-year quarterback respond?

The Commanders would go three-and-out on their first drive, but Howell, behind two big plays from running back Brian Robinson Jr., would finish their second drive with a field goal.

On Washington’s third drive, which began at its 16-yard line, Howell led an impressive 84-yard drive that ended with a three-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Terry McLaurin.

It was this 42-yard completion to McLaurin on third-and-2 that set up Washington’s touchdown.

That was a dime from Howell and impressive, considering how he’s performed over the past few weeks.

A few plays later, Howell found McLaurin again, this time for a touchdown.

WATCH: Saints score their first opening-drive TD of 2023 season

The Saints scored their first opening-drive TD of the 2023 season in Week 17 against the Buccaneers. Better late than never:

The New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers went face-to-face in their Week 17 matchup and the Saints had an uncharacteristic start. For the first time this season, Derek Carr and Taysom Hill led the Saints down the field for their first opening-drive touchdown of the season.

Of the Saints’ first 14 opening possessions, nine ended with punts, three ended with missed field goals, and one each ended with a successful field goal and an interception.

It was a team effort. The drive included Hill finding Juwan Johnson on a pass as well as Hill catching a pass himself. Alvin Kamara found some success on the ground as well. It was capped with Carr finding Johnson for a 4-yard touchdown pass, giving the Saints an early 7-0 lead after Blake Grupe banged the extra point attempt.

But as luck would have it, the best start of the season also came with bad news. Johnson hurt his shoulder on the touchdown catch and was announced as questionable to return, but he was able to get back in the game and helped out in a big way — he bailed the Saints out of the shadow of their own goalpost with a huge 32-yard reception.

WATCH: Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco scampers for nifty wildcat touchdown vs. Raiders

#Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco scored a touchdown on a unique play from the wildcat formation against the #Raiders in Week 16.

The Kansas City Chiefs had a hard time scoring points in the first half of their Week 16 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders but finally got on the board after a nifty touchdown run by Isiah Pacheco.

The second-year running back received a snap in the wildcat formation late in the second quarter and faked a pitch to Patrick Mahomes who was in motion against the grain. When the defense bit on the trick play, Pacheco scampered toward the end zone with space to work.

Check out the impressive play here, and be sure to notice how Mahomes sells the fake before Pacheco breaks free:

Trickery like this is typical of an Andy Reid offense, and with a potential playoff berth on the line, the veteran head coach is pulling out all the stops to beat Las Vegas on Christmas day.

Expect more unique plays to be called when Kansas City gets the ball back later in the game.

WATCH: Derek Carr’s first career TD pass vs. Rams is a thing of beauty

WATCH: Derek Carr’s first career TD pass vs. Rams is a thing of beauty, hitting Rashid Shaheed from 45 yards out

The New Orleans Saints opened up their scoring against the Los Angeles Rams in the second quarter as quarterback Derek Carr found Rashid Saheed wide open for a 45-yard touchdown.

Shaheed has made a name for himself in the NFL as a big play threat as he has made numerous highlight plays in his young career. This was fourth receiving touchdown of the season for Shaheed and the sixth total as a Saint. He also has a rushing touchdown and a punt return touchdown.

This is also Derek Carr’s fourth straight game with a passing touchdown, a good sign following a tough November as the team buckles down for their hunt to the playoffs. If the offense wants to keep finding success, Carr and Shaheed will need to stay on the same page.

And for Carr in particular, this was a big milestone: it’s the first touchdown pass he’s thrown against the Rams in four games after he was shut down in three previous meetings with the Raiders. Maybe getting over that can help him settle down and make more plays.

WATCH: Chiefs dub Clyde Edwards-Helaire ‘Minitron’ after impressive TD catch vs. Patriots

#Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire earned the nickname “Minitron” after his impressive touchdown catch against the #Patriots in Week 15.

The Kansas City Chiefs got help from one of their most underrated offensive assets in Week 15 against the New England Patriots when Clyde Edwards-Helaire managed to put together one of the best games of his career at Gillette Stadium.

While the running back’s work on the ground was admirable, it was his performance as a receiver out of the backfield that garnered attention from the media and teammates during the matchup. His leaping touchdown catch against New England was one of the most impressive highlights of the game and earned Edwards-Helaire the nickname “Minitron” in a video posted to social media this week.

The effort Edwards-Helaire showed against the Patriots was outstanding, and in a season where the Chiefs offense needs as much help as it can get, his performance may be a good omen for the team moving forward.

Expect the former first-round pick to be more involved in Andy Reid’s game plans in the coming weeks as Kansas City gears up for the playoffs.

WATCH: Jimmy Graham finds the end zone for second straight week

WATCH: Jimmy Graham finds the end zone for second straight week

The New Orleans Saints had the offense rolling against the New York Giants in their Week 15 matchup. At the beginning of the fourth quarter, Derek Carr found Jimmy Graham in the end zone for a one-yard touchdown.

That was Graham’s second straight game with a touchdown, as the 37-year-old veteran has emerged as a serious red zone threat. Graham is up to six receptions on the season, with four of them ending in scores.

After spending weeks trying to find things that worked in the red zone, ole reliable peeked in and the answer turned out to be the same one that Drew Brees used in the early 2010s. Graham is limited to a smaller role, because of his age, but should certainly stick around in the game plan.

WATCH: Derek Carr throws first TD pass to Juwan Johnson in Week 15

WATCH: Derek Carr throws first touchdown pass to Juwan Johnson in Week 15

The New Orleans Saints took on the New York Giants in Week 15 of the NFL season on Sunday afternoon. During the third quarter, Derek Carr connected with Juwan Johnson for a 23-yard touchdown pass. It was the first time Carr found Johnson for a score this season.

There was some hype building around Johnson after he broke out last season, catching seven touchdowns from Andy Dalton and scoring four times the year before, but the consistency just hasn’t been there. The former Penn State and Oregon wide receiver-turned-tight end has only eclipsed 20 yards in three games this season. His first and only other receiving touchdown this season came from Taysom Hill.

As the Saints continued to try to get the offense into a rhythm, a positive step this week, Johnson will need to continue to emerge. The top offenses in the NFL have a reliable tight end and the Saints have been missing that factor.

WATCH: Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire makes incredible TD catch vs. Patriots

#Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire made an incredible leaping touchdown catch against the #Patriots in Week 15.

The Kansas City Chiefs offense finally got into gear against the New England Patriots in Week 15 when Patrick Mahomes found running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire for a touchdown in the third quarter of the hotly-contested matchup.

Edwards-Helaire had to make a spectacular play on the ball to reel in the score, jumping high in the air to secure the catch before falling in the end zone for six points.

Check out his remarkable effort here, and notice the body control he displayed to come down with the ball:

With star running back Isiah Pacheco out for this game, Mahomes and Andy Reid have relied on Edwards-Helaire for some serious production, and the former first-round pick hasn’t let them down.

With a little more than a quarter remaining in the Week 15 tilt, Edwards Helaire should be considered the prohibitive favorite to earn a game ball for his outstanding efforts against New England.
