2024 5-Star Cornerback Kobe Black includes Oklahoma in top 11

The Oklahoma Sooners were included in the top 11 for five-star cornerback Kobe Black.

As the spring progresses, the Oklahoma Sooners continue to build positive momentum in the 2024 recruiting cycle. On Thursday, five-star cornerback Kobe Black included the Oklahoma Sooners in his top 11.

The Sooners were joined by some of the heavy hitters in college football. Alabama, LSU, Oregon, Ohio State, Texas, Texas A&M, Florida, TCU, Nebraska, and USC were also named in the top 11 released via Black’s Twitter account.

Black’s a five-star player in the 247Sports composite rankings and is considered a top-five cornerback across the board. Both 247Sports and On3 consider him to be a top 20 player in the 2024 recruiting class, while Rivals has him at No. 34 and ESPN at No. 41.

“I like them,”  Black told On3’s Chad Simmons in March (On3+). “I like Oklahoma a lot, I like the way they coach. They’re like family, really, there.”

Kobe Black plays in all three phases for his high school squad, displaying good speed and a fluidity that allows him to move well in space. He does a really good job breaking on the football and is a natural playmaker.

In 2021, he was the District 9-4A D-II Defensive Newcomer of the Year and in 2022, he was an 11-4A D-II all-district selection at wide receiver and cornerback.

Seahawks Quandre Diggs is Touchdown Wire’s 11-best safety in NFL

Seattle Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs is Touchdown Wire’s 11-best safety in NFL heading into the 2021 season.

Doug Farrar of Touchdown Wire recently took at all the safeties around the league to put together his top 11 heading into the 2021 NFL season. Seattle Seahawks safety Quandre Diggs just made the list at No. 11.

“Last season, the Lions had five guys playing safety for them, and those five guys gave up a total of 13 touchdowns to just two interceptions,” Farrar writes. “They probably could have used the services of Diggs, but they traded him to the Seahawks for a fifth-round pick less than two years after giving him a three-year, $18.6 million contract extension that had him under club control through the 2021 season. Instead, Diggs was of great benefit to Seattle’s defense — especially as a deep-third defender.”

“Free safety had been a mystery position for Pete Carroll’s defense since the breakup with Earl Thomas, and Diggs put it right again in 2020, allowing 12 catches on 20 targets for 209 yards, 57 yards after the catch, three touchdowns, five interceptions, four pass breakups, and an opponent passer rating of 95.6,” Farrar continues.  “With all the talk about Jamal Adams as Seattle’s defensive ‘weapon,’ it was Diggs’ attention to the deep third that allowed Adams (and others) to move around to different roles.”

While Adams didn’t make the top 11, he did earn himself an honorable mention.

Surprise! Auburn football fans are mad… again

Auburn football fans react to Bo Jackson being ranked behind Herschel Walker

Monday, ESPN named its Top 11 college football players of all time at the national championship game in New Orleans.

The rankings list originally started at 150, given it’s the 150th anniversary of the sport, but narrowed down to the best of the best in the end.

Georgia’s Herschel Walker was named the No. 2 player of all time, behind only Syracuse’s Jim Brown. Sure, one can agree that Brown had one of the best professional careers of all time, but many Bulldog fans were skeptical of him being ahead of Walker in the college football list.

If you thought Georgia fans were mad, boy do we have a treat for you. The little brother ‘cow college’ that is Auburn took saltiness to a new level last night. Sure, we’ll probably get a couple ‘1980’ or ‘win a natty’ jabs in the comments, but that’s typical from a fan of the WarTigerPlainsmen.

We get it, we need to win a natty. You’ve already told us 37 times this morning alone. Did you remember to eat breakfast and put on your shoes before heading out the door?

Take a look at some of these responses from Auburn fans on Twitter, who were livid Bo Jackson was ranked behind Walker in ESPN’s list. Get over it and focus on your Top 5 basketball team that we are 100% jealous of.

Hate to break it to you, but professional baseball stats don’t count for college football.

Ok, before we go here. Bo Jackson was one of the best to ever do it in college football and even as an athlete overall. We’re just having some fun here as you can see.
