UNC Basketball trio dominate in NBA G-League

A UNC Basketball trio dominated in the NBA G-League Saturday night, each dropping a double-double.

A Tar Heel trio dominated the NBA G-League Saturday, with [autotag]Tony Bradley[/autotag], [autotag]Theo Pinson[/autotag], and[autotag] Justin Jackson[/autotag] combining for 63 points for the Texas Legends.

Texas took on the South Bay Lakers, and the former UNC stars put on a show. All three finished with a double-double as Bradley ended up with 26 points and 15 rebounds, Justin Jackson had 20 points and 13 rebounds, and Pinson finished with 17 points and 15 assists.

All three players were teammates on the 2017 UNC basketball team that won the national championship, so it’s great to see the trio teamed up and still dominating. All three have had opportunities in the NBA, but are still looking to find their way back permanently. Performances like this go a long way, especially as teams attempt to grab missing pieces during the second half of the season.

The trio will be back in action Saturday to take on the Motor City Cruise.

Theo Pinson and Tony Bradley share a hilarious story about the 2017 national championship celebration.

[autotag]Theo Pinson[/autotag] is back dishing out the tea from behind some of UNC’s legendary moments, this time with special guest [autotag]Tony Bradley[/autotag].

Bradley appeared on the Run Your Race podcast by Tidal League, hosted by Pinson, to speak on numerous topics ranging from high school to collegiate, and pro playing days. The legendary 2017 national championship was brought up, and it was not what happened during the game that was talked about.

Instead, Pinson and Bradley joked about what happened after the net was cut down. According to the pair, due to Bradley playing more minutes because of foul trouble, Bradley experienced a full-body camp during the locker room celebration.

Watch below for the hilarious banter between the two.

Pinson continues to deliver when it comes to giving UNC fans the backstory of some great Tar Heels moments. You can watch the full episode via their YouTube .

Darvin Ham: Lakers have ‘no imminent plans’ to sign another center

The Lakers reportedly aren’t close to signing big men Tristan Thompson or Tony Bradley, who they brought in for a workout on Monday.

With a 35-37 record, the Los Angeles Lakers are in 11th place in the Western Conference, and their chances of making the playoffs are gradually waning.

As if their task of reaching the postseason after a lackluster first four months of the schedule wasn’t enough, they have been dealt a double dose of additional adversity: injuries that have sidelined LeBron James and Mo Bamba.

The absence of Bamba, who has a sprained ankle and will be out until at least early to mid-April, may be ignored by some fans. However, it is having an effect. The Lakers have been forced to go small when Anthony Davis isn’t on the court.

Last Wednesday, when Davis sat out the second game of a back-to-back set, the team was outrebounded by 15 and outscored in the paint, 78-46, in a loss to the Houston Rockets, who have the worst record in the West.

Los Angeles worked out big men Tristan Thompson and Tony Bradley on Monday, yet head coach Darvin Ham said the team has “no imminent plans” to sign either.

The Lakers have been forced to make do with Wenyen Gabriel, Jarred Vanderbilt or Rui Hachimura, none of whom are taller than 6-foot-9, playing the 5 when Davis isn’t in the game.

They have 10 games left in the regular season, which includes their next contest versus the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday.

Lakers will reportedly work out Tristan Thompson and Tony Bradley

The Lakers are apparently looking for some help at the center position with Mo Bamba out for at least a couple more weeks.

With 10 games left in the regular season, the Los Angeles Lakers are clinging to 10th place in the Western Conference after they slipped past the Orlando Magic on Sunday, 111-105, thanks to a monster game from Austin Reaves.

They continue to be short-handed while LeBron James is continues his recovery from a right foot tendon injury. He doesn’t appear to be close to a return yet.

In addition, backup center Mo Bamba, who was starting to help with his ability to rebound, block shots and hit 3-pointers after he was acquired via trade in February, is still out with a sprained ankle. He is expected to be re-evaluated in early April, but it is unknown if he will be able to return before the end of the regular season.

His injury has left L.A. small when Anthony Davis is resting. Forward Wenyen Gabriel is manning the center spot in such situations and always plays his heart out, but he is a svelte 6-foot-9 and 205 pounds.

In an attempt to patch up their frontline, the Lakers will reportedly work out big men Tristan Thompson and Tony Bradley in the coming days.

Thompson, like Gabriel, is 6-foot-9, but at over 250 pounds, he has a much rounder and more rugged physique. He was teammates with James when the Cleveland Cavaliers won the 2016 NBA championship, and the James/Klutch Sports influence could be a factor here.

Bradley, who is 6-foot-10 and nearly 250 pounds, was actually drafted by the Lakers in 2017 before being sent to the Utah Jazz on draft day for Thomas Bryant and Josh Hart. He was waived just a few weeks ago by the Chicago Bulls.

New mock trade has Sixers acquiring Tony Bradley back from Bulls

A new mock trade has the Philadelphia 76ers acquiring Tony Bradley back from the Chicago Bulls.

The Philadelphia 76ers are a team that has championship aspirations for the 2022-23 season and with the Feb. 9 trade deadline right around the corner, they will undoubtedly be looking for upgrades in order to help their chances in a tough Eastern Conference.

The Sixers could use an upgrade at the backup center position. While Montrezl Harrell and Paul Reed have held their own, there are some concerns about the playoffs and it will be interesting to see how they handle this position going forward.

A new mock trade from CBS Sports has the Sixers calling up the Chicago Bulls and bringing back a familiar face in Tony Bradley.

Lonzo Ball among three Bulls to enter health and safety protocols

Chicago loses three more players to the league’s health and safety protocols.

The Chicago Bulls, like a lot of the NBA, can’t seem to dodge the health and safety protocols.

After DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and company have made their way out of the league’s protocols over the last two weeks, the Bulls have a handful of new protocol members.

On Sunday, Bulls guard Lonzo Ball was placed in the league’s health and safety protocol, first reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Center Tony Bradley and newly signed Alfonzo McKinnie joined Ball in the league’s protocols on Sunday.

The three join head coach Billy Donovan in protocols, who was placed there on Christmas Eve.

Stay tuned to Lonzo Wire for updates on all things Lonzo Ball and the Bulls.

WATCH: Lonzo Ball, new Bulls throw out first pitch at White Sox game

The new additions to the Bulls roster got welcomed to the city last night at the White Sox game.

There’s no better way to be welcomed to a new city for an athlete than throwing out the first pitch at a baseball game.

For Lonzo Ball and company, that was their introduction to Chicago on Wednesday night at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Lonzo Ball, Alex Caruso, Derrick Jones Jr., and Tony Bradley threw out the first pitch at the Chicago White Sox game last night against the Los Angeles Angels.

Though White Sox fans were presumably excited to see the new Bulls players out at the game last night, I think it’s safe to say that these guys should stick to basketball.

Check out their first pitches in the video below.

Report: Thunder won’t issue qualifying offer to Tony Bradley

The Thunder will reportedly not issue a qualifying off to center Tony Jones.

The Oklahoma City Thunder appear to be moving on from Tony Bradley, a young center acquired at the trade deadline.

The Thunder are not expected to issue Bradley a qualifying offer as he hits free agency, according to The Athletic’s Tony Jones. Bradley was acquired from the Philadelphia 76ers as part of the George Hill trade last season.

In 22 games with the Thunder, Bradley was a reliable big man, averaging 8.7 points and 6.1 rebounds in 18 minutes per game while shooting 65.6% on 5.5 shots per contest.

The Thunder’s roster is already filling up, though, and they enter Monday night with six selections in the 2021 draft. The assumption is that they’ll trade some or pick a draft-and-stash player — or both — but there’s limited room to work with.

Bradley started seeing playing time in his third year in the league. In that 2019-20 season, on the Utah Jazz, he averaged 4.9 points and 4.6 rebounds in 11.4 minutes per game.

He was traded to the Sixers during the 2020 offseason. A third- to fourth-string center for much of his tenure in Philly, Bradley only appeared in 20 games, but he played well overall during his stint as a starter in place of the injured Joel Embiid.

Bradley was traded to the Thunder, where he played solid but remained stuck in a busy rotation, one in which Oklahoma City wanted to explore a more positionless style with players like Darius Bazley and Isaiah Roby at center, along with true big Moses Brown, who has been traded to the Boston Celtics.

Assuming Bradley is gone, the Thunder will have no true centers on the team.

The draft will begin at 7 p.m. Central Time on Thursday.
