Oddsmakers picking Patriots to knock off Dolphins in pivotal Week 17 clash

Patriots pegged as favorites in Sunday’s showdown with the Dolphins.

The New England Patriots might be banged up, but the thought of the Miami Dolphins playing without their starting quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, has shifted the sports betting line in favor of the home team.

Tipico Sportsbook currently has the Patriots pegged as three-point favorites in a rematch of the regular season opener. New England actually put up a better fight than the 20-7 score indicates in the first meeting, particularly when the Dolphins’ only offensive touchdown in the game came on a busted passing play that went for 42 yards to Jaylen Waddle.

Miami will be rolling out Teddy Bridgewater as the starting quarterback on Sunday with Tagovailoa currently in concussion protocol.

Granted, that’s a major advantage for the Patriots. However, Bridgewater is a great backup quarterback with more than enough weapons to challenge the vaunted Patriots defense. Waddle and Tyreek Hill facing a defensive backfield that could be without Jalen Mills, Marcus Jones and Jack Jones could be a big problem.

The continued question marks surrounding New England’s offense will also ensure that Miami has a fighting chance.

This will be a must-win game for the Patriots as far as the playoffs are concerned. If they win, they’ll still control their own postseason destiny. But a loss would effectively eliminate them from contention.

It’s do-or-die at this point.

Updated odds to win the national championship ahead of the College Football Playoff

A look at each of the four teams’ chance at winning the national championship that are a part of the College Football playoff. #GoBucks

Ohio State is in the College Football Playoff. And while it came via a rather unconventional route after a loss to Michigan, the Buckeyes still have a seat at the table and hope to finish off the most divine feast of the 2022 season.

The odds to win the national championship have ebbed and flowed throughout the season, but Ohio State has always been among the favorites. That cooled a little after the loss to the Wolverines, but OSU still has a lot of money coming in on it to pull off the whole enchilada.

Here is an updated look at the Tipico Sportsbook odds to take care of business in the College Football Playoff and take home a national title for the four teams that made the party, the Buckeyes, Georgia Bulldogs, TCU Horned Frogs, and yes — those Michigan Wolverines.

We’ll keep an eye on these odds as things get closer to New Year’s Eve, but for now, do with this information as you wish.

Ohio State vs. Georgia early Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl odds set

What do you think of these odds? #GoBucks

The early odds for Ohio State vs. Georgia in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl have been set by our friends at Tipico Sportsbook, and for the first time this season, the Buckeyes will enter a game as the underdog.

And it’s not just a mild underdog, but a point spread of an entire touchdown, at -7 in favor of the defending champion Bulldogs. The line really hasn’t moved that much since it was released the day after all the bowl game matchups were set, but don’t be surprised if the spread moves just a tad bit towards Ohio State because the trend has been more money coming in on the Buckeyes, but not enough yet to really move the needle.

There’s no doubt that it’ll be a tall order for Ohio State to go into Georgia’s backyard in Atlanta and beat the No. 1 ranked team in the country, but at least the Buckeyes get a swing at trying to shock the world.

We’ll keep an eye on this line as we get closer to kickoff, but for now, head coach Ryan Day and his staff can play the underdog card to help motivate the team as it prepares for the trip down south.

Conference championship game Buckeyes Wire predictions

We keep things going with our weekly picks and predictions with our writers selecting the winners of the top six conference championship games.

Ohio State may be sitting at home after losing to Michigan for the second straight year, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some quality games on tap for this weekend with all the conference championship games going on. In fact, if you are still rooting for the Buckeyes to get into the College Football Playoff (and why wouldn’t you), you should be closely tuned to things, especially with what’s happening in Las Vegas with the Pac-12 Championship game. Root for a USC loss and Ohio State is most likely in all of the fun again.

But there’s more than that. Every year (and every week of the season) we have a little friendly competition among our writers for world domination when it comes to picking Big Ten and some of the bigger college football games.

With the conference relegated to just one game now with the Big Ten Championship game in Indy between Michigan and Purdue, we change gears a little bit and make our predictions and picks against the spread and straight up for all of the conference championship games.

So, who will take home trophies this weekend? Here’s how we see things, but of the “pick six” variety of the six most-followed championship games.

As a reminder, if there’s an asterisk next to the pick, that means the team will win, but not cover. If there is a tie, rather than have a cage match or old-fashioned duel, we’ll settle it with less violence and go with the tried, yet true, coin flip where George Washington has the say.

EXAMPLE:
– If you think Ohio State will win minus-3.5 over an opponent: OSU
– If you think Ohio State will win outright: OSU
– If you think Ohio State will win, but NOT cover: OSU*

Big Ten football predictions and other big game picks for Week 12

As we get ready to kick off Week 12 of the college football season, we predict all the Big Ten games and six of the best national contests.

Every year (and every week of the season) we have a little friendly competition among our writers for world domination when it comes to picking Big Ten and some of the bigger college football games.

The Big Ten race seems to be coming down to Ohio State and Michigan in the East, and after a loss by Illinois last week, the West division is wide open with Iowa, Purdue, Illinois, and Minnesota tied for first. Even Wisconsin still has an outside shot just one game back.

So, how will Week 12 play out in the Big Ten? What about some of the top national games as well? Our writers take turns picking all the games in the Big Ten straight up and against the spread as well as the same drill on the top six contests in the nation outside of that (our “pick six”)

Early odds favor Ohio State by wide margin over Maryland

Early odds favor #Tipico Ohio State by wide margin over Maryland #GoBucks

It’s that time of the week when we get the early odds for the college football games that will take place this weekend, and if you found our site or are a loyal reader, we’re sure you are interested in what the line has been set for Ohio State football’s matchup with Maryland on Saturday.

As you would imagine, Ohio State is favored very heavily against one of the more unique teams in the Big Ten. We get our odds from Tipico, and the popular online sportsbook has the early odds with Ohio State being a massive 27.5-point favorite.

The total for the over/under has been set at 64.5-points, which seems a bit low, considering they expect the Buckeyes to win by approximately 28 points. Still, perhaps they expect Ohio State to suffocate the Maryland offense, but this is a Terrapin offense with enough skill to make things difficult for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State and Maryland are set to kick things off at 3:30 PM ET on ABC. We’ll continue to monitor the spread on this one if it changes either way.

Big Ten football predictions and other big game picks for Week 11

It’s time again for our writers to pick all of the Big Ten games and the six best national ones.

Every year (and every week of the season) we have a little friendly competition among our writers for world domination when it comes to picking Big Ten and some of the bigger college football games.

The Big Ten race seems to be coming down to Ohio State and Michigan in the East, and though Illinois is barely sitting in the driver’s seat in the West, almost every team not named Northwestern has a shot at the title over there.

So, how will Week 11 play out in the Big Ten? What about some of the top national games as well? Our writers take turns picking all the games in the Big Ten straight up and against the spread as well as the same drill on the top six in the nation outside of that (our “pick six”)

Ohio Sate QB C.J. Stroud propels back up Heisman odds after Week 10 performances

It sure looks like C.J. Stroud is back in the Heisman race based on the odds released this week. #GoBucks

Ohio State football quarterback C.J. Stroud has been among the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy since before the season started, and for good reason. He has one whale of a 2021 campaign and was thought to be in position to be even better during his second year running the offense for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes.

And so far, that’s been the case. Stroud leads the country in Total QBR and is among the leaders in several other passing categories. The bar has been set high with Stroud atop the Heisman odds early, but he lost his grip on being the favorite to Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker recently.

However, as of this week, it looks like Stroud is now the favorite again after both he and Hooker didn’t have the best numbers in Week 10. Fortunately for Stroud, he was able to use his legs a little to will his team to a win at Northwestern, while Hooker and the Vols were no match for a Georgia team looking to prove a point.

Here’s the latest look at the updated Heisman odds and each of the top candidate’s performance after Week 10.

Early odds favor Ohio State by wide margin over Indiana

Massive early @Tipico odds favor Ohio State over Indiana. Do you look for the Buckeyes to make a statement and cover? #GoBucks

It’s that time of the week when we get the early odds for the college football games that will take place this weekend, and if you found our site or are a loyal reader, we’re sure you are interested in what the line has been set for Ohio State football’s matchup with Indiana on Saturday.

As you would imagine, Ohio State is favored very, very heavily against arguably one of the more underwhelming teams in the Big Ten. We get our odds from Tipico, and the popular online sportsbook has the early odds with Ohio State being a massive 41-point favorite.

The total for the over/under has been set at 57.5-points, which seems a bit low, considering they expect the Buckeyes to win by approximately 41 points. Still, perhaps they expect Ohio State to come out with a vengeance after a miserable week against Northwestern.

Massive early odds favor Ohio State over Northwestern

Ohio State is a heavy, massive favorite over Northwestern in early odds. #GoBucks

It’s that time of the week when we get the early odds for the college football games that will be taking place this weekend, and if you found our site or are a loyal reader, we’re sure you are interested in what the line has been set for Ohio State football’s matchup with Northwestern on Saturday.

As you would imagine, Ohio State is favored very, very heavily against arguably one of the worst teams in college football this year. We get our odds from Tipico, and the popular online sportsbook has the early odds with Ohio State being a massive -38.5 favorite.

That’s a huge number even with the game being in the friendly confines of “Chicago’s Big Ten team,” but it probably makes sense. Northwestern has just one win on the season and it took place across the pond in Ireland when the Wildcats beat Scott Frost’s Nebraska Cornhuskers.

We’ll keep an eye on these odds as we go throughout the week, but for now, that’s where things stand.
