The NFC West has the reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year as the Rams nailed their first first-round pick in eight years in Jared Verse.
The NFL announced its biggest season awards on Thursday at the NFL Honors ceremony. Among the awards was the Defensive Rookie of the Year for the 2024 season.
This year’s winner was Los Angeles Rams linebacker Jared Verse. He had 4.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, 18 quarterback hits, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
It was an impactful rookie campaign for a Rams team that made the postseason. he added two sacks in the Rams’ playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
It is a big award, but it is also significant.
Verse was the Rams’ first-round pick last year. They had not had a pick in the first round since trading up to the No. 1 overall pick in 2016 to select quarterback Jared Goff.
Verse played well in two games against the Cardinals. In two games, he had nine total tackles, three tackles for loss, a quarterback hit and a forced fumble.

The Saints game was shown in only local markets last week, but their pivotal matchup with the Buccaneers will draw a bigger crowd:
This week’s pivotal contest between the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will certainly find its way into more homes than last week’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
If you weren’t in the local area or states neighboring Louisiana, the Week 17 Saints-Raiders game wasn’t aired locally. Saints and Buccaneers, however, will be broadcast with much greater range.
The divisional showdown is being aired locally in much of South Florida and Louisiana, and it’s the FOX early game on the entire West Coast and much of the Northeast, per 506 Sports.
Alvin Kamara could return in pursuit of reaching 1,000 rushing yards. Baker Mayfield is trying to lead the Buccaneers to the playoffs for the second time. There are some things to be interested by in this game. That could be one of the factors leading to the increased range of the season finale.
Instead of New Orleans, it’ll be the Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts who are isolated to their local areas. Kickoff is set for Noon CT/1 p.m. ET from Raymond James Stadium. Areas marked in red on this map will be showing the Saints for the last time this season:
The NFL announced its finalized slate of Week 18 games, including the time for kickoff between the Saints and Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium:
The NFL announced its finalized slate of Week 18 games, including the regular season finale between the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for Noon CT/1 p.m. ET on Sunday, Jan. 5.
It’s not surprising to see the Saints relegated to an early time slot in a low-profile day of games; they’ve been eliminated from the playoffs and have been outscored 59-10 over their last two losses. These NFC South rivalry games are always intense but there are more compelling matchups to put in the spotlight.
Still, the Saints have plenty of reasons to fight hard for a win. Beating the Buccaneers would jeopardize Tampa Bay’s own playoff chances, and another win is unlikely to hurt the Saints’ position in the 2025 NFL draft. It would be a great way to rebuild morale before what’s looking like a difficult offseason kicks off in January. But that’s easier said than done against a Bucs team that already dropped 50 points on the Saints’ heads earlier this year.
Saints-Raiders will be one of the least-watched games in Week 17. TV coverage is being confined to each team’s home market:
If you’re living outside the New Orleans Saints’ or Las Vegas Raiders’ home market, you could have a hard time catching Week 17’s game at the Caesars Superdome. Kickoff is set for Noon CT/ 1 p.m. ET.
Thanks to this broadcast map from 506 Sports, we can see that this week’s Saints game is being shown locally in just each team’s home market. Most of America will be watching the Dallas Cowboys-Philadelphia Eagles game in the FOX early window, while New York Giants fans and Indianapolis Colts faithful will see their teams at home, too.
Coverage for Saints-Raiders is being limited to southeastern Nevada, most of Louisiana (except for Shreveport) and the Gulf South into Mississippi, southwestern Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle. Some fans in Arkansas border towns will get the game, but not as many as usual.
It’s easy to see why this isn’t an attractive matchup. Neither the Saints nor the Raiders are eligible for the playoffs. Both squads are starting backup quarterbacks, and the potential for a Derek Carr revenge game isn’t there, either. This one just doesn’t have the juice that an NFC East rivalry game between two high-profile franchises does.

After a phenomenal WNBA Rookie of the Year campaign with the Indiana Fever, former Iowa Hawkeye point guard Caitlin Clark has been named TIME’s 2024 Athlete of the Year.
The honor for Clark is recognition of her historic efforts as the leader of Iowa’s women’s basketball team that played for a national championship in a second-consecutive season and for her WNBA Rookie of the Year Award and league record-setting campaign.
In her first professional season with the Indiana Fever, Clark averaged 19.2 points, a WNBA-best 8.4 assists, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 35.4 minutes per game. Along with leading the league in assists, Clark was first in 3-pointers (122) and second in minutes per game and free throw percentage (90.6%). She was seventh overall in league scoring.
When asked by TIME what her best overall moment was from 2024, Clark struggled to pinpoint a singular moment and instead reflected on her triumphs from the national championship game run with Iowa to her sensational rookie season with the Fever.
“I feel like so much has happened over the course of the last year, from when I started my last college season, and not knowing if that would actually be my last season, whether I was deciding to come back to college or turn pro, and now sitting here, like, I’m done with my first professional season, and so much has happened.
“And whether it was, you know, making the National Championship game or getting the Fever back to the playoffs since 2016, there’s just a lot to be proud of. It happens so fast, like, it’s hard to appreciate in the moment, and kind of understand in the moment, but it’s been fun to reflect on,” Clark said.

While Clark’s athleticism on the court is sensational, her appeal off the court is also a major factor in her Athlete of the Year recognition.
With Clark as its superstar, the Fever appeared in the most-watched WNBA games ever on ABC, CBS, ESPN, and ESPN2 this past season. The WNBA also attracted an all-time record of more than 54 million unique viewers across all its national broadcasting platforms during the regular season, and the league’s overall attendance jumped 48% year over year to its highest level in more than two decades.
Clark’s fame and influence allowed the Fever to break the WNBA record for home attendance by a single franchise and even forced games to be moved to NBA and NHL arenas in Las Vegas, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C., to accommodate the hordes of fans.
While the distinction of TIME’s Athlete of the Year is high praise, Clark will have her eyes set on improving the Fever’s performance next season in hopes of capturing the franchise’s first WNBA title since 2012.

The New Orleans Saints and Washington Commanders matchup will garner a decently-sized broadcast this week, despite not being the primary matchup:
The New Orleans Saints and Washington Commanders matchup in Week 15 will draw a decently-sized broadcast, however, it will not be the primary game in the FOX early time slot this week. Last week, the Saints and Giants game was restricted pretty much exclusively to their own markets and nowhere else, and this week it is slightly expanded, but still somewhat in a small region compared to some other games.
Of the early games, the matchup most of the nation will see is the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers. Why? We do not know. The other two early FOX games will stick to their respective regions with the Cincinnati Bengals taking on the Tennessee Titans, and the New York Jets taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Saints and Commanders game however will have decent chunks of media coverage, including all of Louisiana, most of Georgia and Mississippi, and then a large section across Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware. Additionally, there is a small little blip of coverage in South Bend, Ind. which will also receive this game broadcast.
Here is the full map, with the key for which game each color indicates:
TV coverage for Saints-Giants is limited to each team’s home market in Week 14. There won’t be a lot of eyes on MetLife Stadium:
There won’t be many eyes on MetLife Stadium this Sunday when the New Orleans Saints kick off with the New York Giants. That’s to be expected when the two teams have combined for six wins going into Week 14, but it’s still a disappointing turn of events.
Broadcast coverage on FOX will be limited to each team’s home market this week; that means Eastern New York and Long Island plus Vermont, Connecticut, and Western New Hampshire for Giants fans. For Saints fans, areas in and around Louisiana as well as most of Mississippi, Southern Alabama, and the Florida panhandle will have the game on.
If you’re out of market, look into a streaming service like Fubo, NFL+, or NFL Sunday Ticket on YouTube TV and see which best suits your needs.
Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 8 at Noon CT/1 p.m. ET. Here’s a map from 506 Sports reflecting coverage for this week’s Saints-Giants game:
The Week 13 broadcast map has been released, will you be able to view Saints vs. Rams in your area?
The New Orleans Saints are back from their bye week and are now looking to extend their winning streak to three games under Darren Rizzi against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 13.
According to the 506 Sports broadcast map, this game will only be carried in relatively limited areas, including Louisiana and some of the surrounding region, the southern half of California, a thin line of the central United States from Indianapolis to Washington D.C., and then a small portion of New England in eastern Massachusetts, all of Rhode Island, and southern New Hampshire/Vermont.
FOX will carry this broadcast, however much of the United States will instead be receiving the Arizona Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings, which surrounds nearly every region that has the Saints and Rams matchup.
This matchup is set to kick off at 3:05 p.m. CT/4:05 p.m. ET on Sunday in the Caesars Superdome. These two teams have not met since Week 16 of the 2023 season, and will get the chance to have at it again this year after missing a few seasons of matchups in 2020 and 2021.
Everything to know about how to watch the upcoming matchup between the New Orleans Saints and the Cleveland Browns.
The New Orleans Saints got back to the right side of the win column in shocking fashion last week with a 20-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
The team could not have asked for a better start to the Darren Rizzi era after parting ways with Dennis Allen in Caesars Superdome, and will have the perfect opportunity to keep the momentum rolling with a matchup against the 2-7 Cleveland Browns as they make their way to the Big Easy.
Cleveland is slightly favored in this matchup by a mere point in a game that is almost certain to come down to the wire. And it will mark the Saints’ first opportunity in months to prove they can stack wins after snapping an abysmal seven-game losing streak.
Here’s how to watch the Saints and Browns game, including time, TV schedule and streaming information:

Saints vs. Browns predictions, picks, odds
Saints 23, Browns 20: The Saints and the Browns have been two of the NFL’s lowliest teams for sometime now with similar records. But the Saints come into this one with a new sense of momentum and optimism in the second game of the Darren Rizzi era after knocking off the Atlanta Falcons with a 20-17 statement win. The Saints build off of this one in Caesars Superdome with a 23-20 win, as long as they keep Nick Chubb from getting back to doing Nick Chubb things.

Week 11 NFL broadcast maps: Will your local station carry New Orleans Saints vs. Cleveland Browns?
This week’s New Orleans Saints game isn’t exactly drawing a big crowd. Between the Saints’ 3-7 record and the visiting Cleveland Browns at 2-7, only local FOX affiliate stations in each team’s home market are preparing to broadcast the matchup.
Between bad records, an interim head coach leading the Saints, and a backup quarterback starting for the Browns, the TV executives would rather shine a brighter light on other games in the early window.
Still, Saints fans through Louisiana, most of Mississippi, and coastal Alabama and Florida will be able to cheer on their team. So will Browns faithful watching from home in Ohio and a few surrounding areas.
Kickoff is set for Noon CT/1 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 17. Check the map from 506 Sports to see if you’re covered:
