Big 12 Tournament: Kansas vs. Texas Tech odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Kansas vs. Texas Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions, best bets.

The Kansas Jayhawks (27-6) face the Texas Tech Red Raiders (25-8) Saturday in the Big 12 Tournament Final. Tip-off from the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City is at 6 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we look at the Kansas vs. Texas Tech odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The 6th-ranked Jayhawks have been impressive squashing the opposition in Kansas City so far. KU belted West Virginia in the quarters by an 87-63 win as 9.5-point favorites Thursday. They followed that up with an impressive victory against TCU, 75-62, in the semifinals.

The 14th-ranked Red Raiders pounded Iowa State Thursday by a 72-41 before escaping against Oklahoma Friday in a 56-55 near-miss. The Under cashed in each game in the tourney so far for TTU.

These teams split the regular-season series, with the Red Raiders winning 75-67 Jan. 8 in Lubbock as 7-point ‘dogs as the OVER hit, before the Jayhawks won 94-91 in overtime Jan. 24 as the OVER again came in.

Kansas vs. Texas Tech odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Kansas 73, Texas Tech 66

Money line

KANSAS (-135) is a good play in this decisive third matchup of the season. Both teams won on their home courts during the regular season. This will be a home game for all intents and purposes, with Allen Fieldhouse just a 35-to-40-minute drive to Kansas City.

Against the spread

KANSAS -1.5 (-120) is slightly cheaper, and all it has to do is win by a bucket. That should be do-able in this title game. The Red Raiders have been impressive at 5-0 ATS in the past five as an underdog, although they’re just 3-7 ATS in the past 10 neutral-site battles.

On the flip side, the Jayhawks have cashed in six of the past eight games as favorite, while going 6-1 ATS in the past seven following a straight-up victory. Back Kansas to cover and hoist the hardware.

Over/Under

The OVER 134.5 (-110) is the lean in this title game.

While the Under is 4-1 in the past five for Kansas, the Over is 9-3-1 in the past 13 for KU in neutral-site games, while going 9-3 in the past 12 against winning sides.

For Texas Tech, the Over has connected in nine of the previous 12 games against teams with a winning overall record, for which Kansas certainly qualifies.

Big 12 Tournament: Iowa State vs. Texas Tech odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Iowa State vs. Texas Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 6-seed Iowa State Cyclones (20-11) and No. 3 Texas Tech Red Raiders (23-8) meet in a Big 12 Tournament quarterfinal Thursday. The contest at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City is slated to tip off at 9:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Iowa State vs. Texas Tech odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Iowa State sports a below-average Big 12 offense, but the Cyclones are strong at the defensive end. That combination has made for some streaky play, at least in terms of the resulting wins and losses in a 7-11 Big 12 campaign. During that league slate, ISU went 1-1 against the Red Raiders.

Texas Tech also has a strong defense, but the Raiders add to that a solid offensive game, especially in and around the paint. Currently ranked No. 14 in the nation, the Raiders have held opposing teams to a 38.9% mark from the floor in going 8-3 since Jan. 29. TTU went 12-6 in league play.

[tipico]

Iowa State vs. Texas Tech odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas Tech 69, Iowa State 59

Money line

PASS. The profit here is looked up in the middle of these prices.

Against the spread

The Raiders lost their last game and are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games following a straight-up loss.

Texas Tech has much the better offense here. Their athletic length makes for a mismatch against the Cyclones.

In its Jan. 5 loss to ISU (51-47), TTU experienced an outlier 41.8% effective field goal mark. The Raiders were coming off a seven-day layoff after having coasted in a pair of holiday-week non-conference games.

The lean here is not a strong one, but it is one on the Raiders getting to a three-of-four-possession game. TAKE TEXAS TECH -8.5 (-107).

Over/Under

This total is the lowest of the three meetings this season. Perimeter shooting doesn’t figure to pile up triples in this contest, but some two-way turnover-transition ball can be expected and Texas Tech has the potential to go big in second-chance and free-throw points.

Again on a slight lean, TAKE THE OVER 125.5 (-108).

Kansas State at Texas Tech odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Kansas State at Texas Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Kansas State Wildcats (14-14, 6-10 Big 12) and No. 9 Texas Tech Red Raiders (22-7, 11-5) clash Monday in Lubbock, Texas. Tip-off from United Supermarkets Arena is slated for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Kansas State vs. Texas Tech odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Kansas State finds itself on the road for the third time in four games and it totes a three-game losing skid into Monday’s contest. However, the Wildcats snapped a four-game skid with a 62-51 upset of then-No. 19 Texas Tech Jan. 15

The Red Raiders are coming off a 69-66 loss at TCU Saturday as they were undone by 18 turnovers. TTU had its four-game win streak snapped despite shooting 58.1% from the floor. Now it’s back at home where it has gone 17-0 this season.

Kansas State at Texas Tech odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas Tech 76, Kansas State 62

Money line

Look for the Raiders to be dialed in at home, in a revenge spot and coming off a disappointing loss. The tag here is fair but without a value cushion: PASS.

Against the spread

The Red Raiders are 7-0 ATS in their last seven games after a straight-up loss, 10-1 ATS in their last 11 home games against teams with a losing road record, 18-4 ATS in their last 22 home games and 17-4 ATS in their last 21 games as a home favorite.

Saturday’s game was a clunker for a Texas Tech squad that had been playing at a high level of late. TTU held foes to a 37.8% mark from the field in its 18 previous games before allowing a 50.0% mark Saturday.

TAKE THE RED RAIDERS -12.5 (-105).

Over/Under

Figure on Kansas State getting some easy turnover/transition baskets, and peg the home five piling up a decent advantage in second-chance and free-throw points.

Look for TTU to aggressively play this game to as big of a lead as it can muster by the 5-minute mark.

BACK THE OVER 133.5 (-108).

Oklahoma at Texas Tech odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Oklahoma at Texas Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Oklahoma Sooners (14-13, 4-10 Big 12) and No. 9 Texas Tech Red Raiders (21-6, 10-4) battle in a Tuesday night Big 12 showdown in Lubbock, Texas. The contest at United Supermarkets Arena is slated to tip off at 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Oklahoma vs. Texas Tech odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Oklahoma lost by 21 (75-54) at Iowa State Saturday. The loss marked OU’s worst since Dec. 12, 2020 (to Xavier by 22 points). The Sooners head into this tilt in Lubbock having lost three in a row and six of their last seven. Opponents have shot 50.5% over that seven-game stretch.

The Raiders sport the best defense in the Big 12, and that defense has helped propel them to a 6-1 record since Jan. 29. Over that stretch, Texas Tech has held foes to a 38.1% mark from the floor. Included in those victories of late were games against solid offensive teams Texas (twice) and Baylor. But the lone loss was to these Sooners: OU defeated TTU 70-55 Feb. 9.

Oklahoma at Texas Tech odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas Tech 73, Oklahoma 61

Money line

There’s no value in risking six times your return on Texas Tech here. MOVE ALONG.

Against the spread

The Sooners are 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a straight-up loss. In this series, the home team is 11-3-1 ATS over the last 15 meetings.

OU has gone just 2-7 over nine road games this season. The Red Raiders are 8-1 ATS in their last nine home games against opponents with road winning percentage of less-than .400.

TTU’s offense sometimes gets forgotten, but the Raiders can fill it. They’ve been a solid play candidate the last few weeks and continue to be one in this revenge spot at home. BACK THE RED RAIDERS -10.5 (-105).

Over/Under

Oklahoma has played some slow-paced games of late and was able to dictate the tempo in meeting No. 1. Look for a swing the other way in this one. TTU has the offensive rebounding, turnover-transition game and ability to get to the charity stripe.

TAKE THE OVER 129.5 (-115).

Texas Tech at Texas odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Texas Tech Red Raiders at Texas Longhorns odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets in a Big 12 battle.

The No. 11 Texas Tech Red Raiders (20-6, 9-4 Big 12) visit the Frank Erwin Center Saturday to take on the No. 20 Texas Longhorns (19-7, 8-5). Tip-off is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Texas Tech vs. Texas odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

This has all the makings of a massive, thrilling Big 12 battle.

Texas is 15-1 at home this season, including wins against Kansas and Tennessee. The Longhorns’ lone loss was by 1 point (66-65) to Kansas State.

Texas might be dominant at home, but it is just 9-7 against the spread (ATS) there this season. The Longhorns have covered 3 of their last 4 but only 4 of their last 10. They have the No. 2-ranked defense in the nation, allowing just 57.6 points per game.

As for Texas Tech, it already took down Texas 77-64 this season, covering as a 4-point home favorite. The Red Raiders have covered 8 of their last 9.

Texas Tech is 4-3 ATS on the road. It ranks 105th in scoring (74.2 PPG) and 20th in opponents’ scoring (61.3 PPG).

Texas Tech at Texas odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas 64, Texas Tech 61

Money line

LEAN to TEXAS (-180).

I know it’s more expensive, but this has all the makings of a close, hard-fought game. It’s more comfortable laying the worse odds here than banking on a team winning by more than one possession.

Texas has been almost impossible to beat at home.

Just because it has won at home doesn’t mean it has covered, beating Kansas by 3 (79-76), Tennessee by 1 (52-51), and Oklahoma State by 5 (56-51) within their last 4 home games, failing to cover 2 of those.

It’s difficult to beat a team twice, especially one that has the second-best defense in the country and should have a raucous crowd backing it.

I’ll take TEXAS (-180) for a small wager to win outright here.

Against the spread

LEAN to TEXAS TECH +3.5 (-110).

I like the money line more in this one considering how close of a battle it projects to be, but Texas Tech, unlike Texas, has been a covering machine as of late.

I already mentioned the Red Raiders are 8-1 ATS over their last 9. They’re also 18-8 ATS overall. They’re the best-covering team in the Big 12 and are 8-1 ATS against ranked opponents.

Having already beaten Texas handily at home, this should be a close game. A 3.5-point spread is a bit too much not to consider with how good Texas Tech has played this season.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 125.5 (-107).

With an O/U of 123.5 in their first meeting of the season, the rivals combined for 141 points, well surpassing the projected total.

This time around, the O/U is 2 points higher. The trend points to this being a low-scoring game.

Texas owns the best Under home record in the conference at 11-5, while Texas Tech has the best Under road mark in the Big 12 at 5-2.

Both teams rank outside the top 150 (TTU 161st and Texas 342nd of just 358 teams) in possessions per game.

With Texas ranked 2nd in opponents’ points per game and Texas Tech 15th in opponents’ field-goal percentage, this has “gritty, slow-paced, defensive battle” written all over it.

Baylor at Texas Tech odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Baylor at Texas Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 8 Baylor Bears (21-4, 9-3 Big 12) will travel to United Supermarkets Arena to take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders (19-6, 8-4) Wednesday. Below, we look at the Baylor vs. Texas Tech odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

After holding the No. 1 spot in the nation, Baylor has hit a rough patch in its schedule. Losing to Alabama, Oklahoma State, Kansas and Texas Tech in its last 10 games, the Bears have dropped to 8th in the country.

They’re 5-5 against the spread over their last 10, covering in 5 of 6 wins and failing to cover in each of their 4 losses. The Bears rank top 40 in points per game and opponents’ points per game.

They’re just 6-6 against the spread (ATS) in conference play. The Red Raiders are a league-best 10-2 ATS in conference play and are 17-8 ATS this season.

They have a perfect 15-0 straight-up record at home, making United Supermarkets Arena one of the toughest places in the nation to play. The Red Raiders allow the 17th-fewest points per game.

Baylor at Texas Tech odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas Tech 69, Baylor 65

Money line

BET on TEXAS TECH -130.

The aforementioned numbers should say enough. The Red Raiders are terrific at home, taking down teams like Iowa State and Texas. They lost by 3 on the road in overtime to Kansas Jan. 24.

The Jayhawks destroyed Baylor by 24 earlier in the year. Baylor is coming off an impressive 17-point home win over Texas, so I would play the money line here as this should be a hard-fought battle.

The Red Raiders are 11-3 ATS as home favorite and are undefeated straight up. While Baylor is 6-2 on the road this season, it is just 3-3 ATS, which considering it’s just a 1.5-point spread, is useful in this situation.

Tech already beat a healthy Baylor team at the Ferrell Center, putting 6 players in double figures, winning by just 3. The Red Raiders have proven themselves and are absolutely dominant at home.

Back them in this battle.

Against the spread

PASS.

Baylor won’t back down from a challenge and did just put up 80 on a Longhorns team that ranks 3rd in opponents’ points per game. That said, I’ll take the more expensive money line odds.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the UNDER 135.5 (-107).

Both teams are competent offensively, but they’re both better on the defensive end. That was on full effect in the first matchup that ended 65-62.

The Red Raiders shot over 50.9% from the field in that first battle. It’s more about the pace than anything, and the Red Raiders will likely look to not play in transition against the quick Baylor backcourt.

The Bears are 13-11-1 O/U this season but just 5-6-1 O/U in conference play. The Red Raiders are the opposite, posting a 12-13 O/U record yet 7-5 O/U in conference play.

It’s definitely just a lean, but I prefer the Under here.

Texas Tech at Kansas odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Texas Tech at Kansas odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 19 Texas Tech Red Raiders (15-4, 5-2 Big 12) and No. 7 Kansas Jayhawks (16-2, 5-1) tussle at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence, Kan., Monday at 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Texas Tech vs. Kansas odds and lines and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Texas Tech has held Iowa State and West Virginia to a combined 38.3% shooting mark over two wins since falling at Kansas State Jan. 15. The slow-down Red Raiders have held opponents to just 59.1 points per game (13th NCAA-I).

TTU is just 1-3 over its last four games away from Lubbock despite an upset win at then-No. 1 Baylor Jan. 13.

The Jayhawks lost to the Raiders 75-67 Jan. 8 in Lubbock. Kansas trailed over the final 25 minutes of that game but has gone 4-0 since while holding opponents to a 38.8% mark from the floor along the way.

These two have played similar recent conference schedules, so it’s somewhat instructive to compare results. The results favor the Jayhawks, and especially in a game at Allen Fieldhouse, but not to the degree suggested by these prices.

TTU’s 3-point defense and its ability to get to the line play into TEXAS TECH (+250) being on the edge of a decent value play. Consider a partial-unit play, and hold back some in reserve in case the return edges upward.

Against the spread

TTU is 7-1 ATS in its last eight games against winning teams while the Jayhawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall.

Recent ATS stumbles at home indicate Kansas can be had when the tag gets too steep. The slow-tempo style has given Kanas issues in multiple games this season, so peg this one as what should be a 4-point edge for the Jayhawks.

BACK TEXAS TECH +6.5 (-105).

Over/Under

Not enough reasoning to shade this one either way: PASS.

Iowa State at Texas Tech odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Iowa State at Texas Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

On Tuesday evening, the No. 14 Iowa State Cyclones (14-3) travel to United Supermarkets Arena to take on the No. 19 Texas Tech Red Raiders (13-4). Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Iowa State at Texas Tech odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Cyclones are coming into this game having played a brutal conference stretch to this point. Four of their last five games have been against top-25 opponents.

They’re 2-3 overall in that stretch with losses to Baylor, Kansas and Oklahoma. They defeated Texas Tech earlier in the year at home. Iowa State is a conference-best 11-6 ATS this season.

The Red Raiders are 10-7 ATS, the second-best ATS record in the Big 12. Despite an 11-point defeat by Kansas State, they’ve beaten Baylor and Kansas, both top-ten teams, in their last four games.

Iowa State at Texas Tech odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas Tech 64, Iowa State 60

Money line

PASS on the money line.

Home-court advantage matters too much to bet on the upset at +290, especially with Iowa State being given 8.5 points on the spread. That’s the preferred way to bet this game.

Against the spread

BET on IOWA STATE +8.5 (-115).

Iowa State welcomed Texas Tech and beat them by 4 points earlier in the year. While Tech has a few impressive victories since then, they’ve also lost to an underwhelming Kansas State team by 11.

Both teams have seniors as three of their top four scorers, so there will be a ton of experience on the court, which should bode well for this being a close-fought game.

What the Cyclones do well is shoot from deep, averaging the fourth-most 3-pointers per game in conference play. That’s the weakness of the Red Raiders, allowing in-conference opponents to hoist up 24.4 3-pointers per game.

With Iowa State G Izaiah Brockington shooting 39% from deep, I expect him and a veteran Cyclones team to be able to keep this game within 8.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the UNDER 129.5 (-115).

As noted, both teams are led by seniors and thrive defensively. That’s going to bode well for a slower pace, which is exactly what we saw in the 51-47 matchup in Iowa.

Both teams are 7-10 O/U this season, so it’s been profitable to bet against more points in their respective games so far.

Oklahoma State at Texas Tech odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Oklahoma State at Texas Tech odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys (8-6, 1-2 Big 12) and No. 19 Texas Tech Red Raiders (12-3, 2-1) meet Thursday for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off at United Supermarkets Arena in Lubbock, Texas. Below, we look at the Oklahoma State vs. Texas Tech odds and lines and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Oklahoma State has scored just 62.0 points per game while shooting 37.4% from the floor in losing three of its last four games. The Cowboys lost 70-60 Tuesday at West Virginia, so they are completing the Big 12 geographical -nightmare double in traveling to Lubbock. The fast-paced OSU five have been tagged with turnovers in a conference-worst 21.4% of their possessions.

The Red Raiders rank third in the Big12 in offense (75.0 PPG) and second in defense (58.5). Texas Tech is undefeated (9-0) on its home floor and is coming into this game off a monster 65-62 win over No. 1 Baylor Tuesday. The Raiders outshot the Bears, 50.9% to 41.1% in that upset in Waco, Texas.

Oklahoma State at Texas Tech odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas Tech 67, Oklahoma State 59

Money line

AVOID. Neither side is as attractive as the Over/Under here. Texas Tech is the lean, but that lean is brushed back by the expensive tag.

Against the spread

The Cowboys are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games against winning teams and the Red Raiders are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against winning teams.

A young Oklahoma State team making the Stillwater-to-Morgantown-to-Lubbock voyage gets us halfway to a fade. Defensive play that has struggled of late takes us further down the road.

A Texas Tech advantage on the boards cinches it. In their last four games against fast-pace foes, the slow-’em-down Raiders are 3-1 ATS, with all three wins being by double-digits against the number.

TAKE TEXAS TECH -7.5 (-107).

Over/Under

When TTU is playing against a winning team, the Under is 6-2.

Neither team is all that proficient on threes and frees (3-pointers and free throws). The Raiders will look to game-control this one against a likely-tiring OSU five.

BACK THE UNDER 129.5 (-112).

Texas Tech at Baylor odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Texas Tech Red Raiders at Baylor Bears odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 19 Texas Tech Red Raiders (11-3, 1-1 Big 12) tangle with the No. 1 Baylor Bears (15-0, 3-0) Tuesday in Waco, Texas. The Big 12 battle at Ferrell Center is slated to tip-off at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Texas Tech vs. Baylor odds and lines and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Texas Tech is coming off a key win over Kansas Saturday. The Red Raiders had 11 offensive rebounds and got to the free-throw line 22 times while shooting 50.9% from the field. Senior F Bryson Williams had 22 points and 8 boards against the Jayhawks. Williams and the Raiders have won three of their last four games.

The Bears defeated the TCU Horned Frogs 76-64 Saturday. Baylor shot 52.6% from the floor and has now registered a mark of 50% or better in six straight games.

BU is shooting 49.5% on the season which ranks 13th in NCAA-I. The Bears have been buoyed by the steady play of senior G James Akinjo, who has logged 47 points over their last two games and is averaging 14.4 points and 6.1 assists per game.

Texas Tech at Baylor odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Baylor 75, Texas Tech 62

Money line

AVOID. There’s just too much juice here.

Against the spread

The Bears are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 home games and are 5-2 ATS over their last seven games against TTU.

BU swept the Raiders straight up and against the spread in two meetings last season. The Bears are the better shooting team by a decent margin and the venue is a big plus for Baylor and a significant minus for Texas Tech. TTU also has a couple or three injury/illness issues among some key veteran sources of rebounds and assists.

BACK the BEARS -11.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The Over is 5-0-1 across the Bears’ last six games and is 4-2 in the last six games of this series.

Consider a partial-unit play on the OVER 135.5 (-110).
