Two Texas signees listed as top performers at All-American Bowl practice

Jaylon Guilbeau and J’Mond Tapp are standing out at the All-American Bowl this week.

The two future Longhorns that are partaking in the All-American Bowl have been doing nothing but making plays the last couple days.

Four-star cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau and four-star defensive lineman J’Mond Tapp have been included in On3’s list of players that were standouts on the second day of practice.

This comes as no surprise as videos surfaced of Tapp getting to the quarterback frequently, while also filling in during some defensive back drills due to a shortage at the position. Guilbeau has been no slouch either, as he has been locking down receivers and even picked off former Texas target Devin Brown, who is now slated to attend Ohio State.

The two were both among the West’s top players which can be seen on the second slide of the post below.

While Guilbeau and Tapp are currently the only Longhorns signees at the event, there are a couple recruits in Earnest Greene and Larry Turner-Gooden that will be deciding during the game on Jan. 8 and Texas is among each of their top schools.

Steve Sarkisian and his staff would likely love to add both of them in order to strengthen the already deep No. 5 class in the nation.

WATCH: Kelvin Banks flashes the Hook ‘Em sign at UA All-America game

The future Longhorn offensive lineman shows Texas some love before the Under Armour All-America game.

The day is finally here, as five Longhorns will be participating in the Under Armour All-America game.

Texas has a total of six players who were recognized as All-Americans for the event, but wide receiver Brenen Thompson is still recovering from an injury suffered during his senior season.

Someone who is participating, and their performance has been highly anticipated, is five-star offensive tackle Kelvin Banks. The Summer Creek product, and former Oregon commit, headlines Texas’ 2022 class which ranks No. 5 in the nation in 247Sports’ recruiting rankings.

Banks will be suiting up for Team Icons and will likely be playing right tackle, as that has been where he has been practicing in the few days prior to the game. He was spotted before the game during warmups and flashed a Hook ‘Em sign to represent Texas.

Banks will be tasked with trying to contain players like uncommitted four-star Omari Abor and Alabama commit Jeremiah Alexander.

Texas OL signee Malik Agbo to play in 2022 Polynesian Bowl

Texas signee Malik Agbo selected to prestigious Polynesian Bowl.

Another Texas signee will have a chance to partake in an All-American game to face off against the nation’s best before moving up to the next level.

Four-star offensive lineman Malik Agbo, was selected to play in the 2022 Polynesian Bowl. 247Sports national recruiting editor Brandon Huffman, who is on the selection committee of the game, announced on Wednesday that Agbo was the latest addition to the absolutely loaded lineup of players.

Agbo will join players such as Jackson State commit Travis Hunter, USC commit Domani Jackson, and uncommitted five-star Harold Perkins among many other talented players as a participant.

In an interview with 247Sports, Agbo expressed his excitement for the game and what it means to him.

“It really means a lot,” said Agbo. “This is something I really look forward to, especially seeing guys from years past be part of something special like this.”

“It’s really big for me to be an all-American, especially being from Federal Way, and my high school Todd Beamer, where talent is very little, so I think it’s really cool for me and everyone that I’m close with too.”

The game is held in Honolulu, Hawaii, and will take place on Jan. 22.

WATCH: Five-star Texas signee Kelvin Banks’ senior tape

Kelvin Banks headlines the elite offensive line class that Texas signed.

Flipping five-star offensive tackle Kelvin Banks from Oregon was arguably the biggest win on the recruiting trail for the Texas staff.

Banks fills a major need on the offensive line that have had their struggles over the past few seasons.

The Houston product became the first five-star offensive lineman to sign with the Horns since the 2009 recruiting cycle.

Banks is rated the No. 2 offensive tackle prospect in the country and the No. 4 overall player in the state of Texas for the 2022 recruiting class, according to 247Sports composite.

After Banks committed to Texas, the flood gates began to open for the Texas offensive line class. The Longhorns grabbed commitments from Cam Williams, Neto Umezulu and Mailk Agbo less than a week from Banks’ announcement.

Earlier this month, Banks dropped his 2021 senior highlight tape via Twitter.

It is rare for an offensive lineman to contribute early into their college career but Banks is the type of talent who could easily see the field in year one.
