Texas A&M Football 2024 commits skyrocket in 247Sports latest player rankings

Several members of Texas A&M’s Top 10-ranked 2024 recruiting class skyrocketed in the latest 247Sports composite player rankings.

On Monday afternoon, several members of Texas A&M’s Top 10-ranked 2024 recruiting class received significant boosts in the 247Sports composite player rankings, as just two weeks remain before the recruiting dead period ends on Tuesday, July 25.

New Jersey quarterback Miles O’Neill, who committed to the Aggies on June 14, rose 518 spots to No. 368 in 247Sports composite. IOL Coen Echols rose 345 spots to No. 399, and edge Gabriel Reliford made a seismic leap of 345 spots to No. 408 in the composite.

That cumulates to a combined 1,216 spots in the 247Sports composite rankings, while most notably, all three received a fourth-star in the process.

With 16 hard commits to date, Texas A&M’s 2024 class ranks No. 9 overall in the 247Sports composite. It also moves the Aggies up to one spot to No. 3 overall in SEC, behind only No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Florida. The Maroon and White jumped LSU, who fell to the conference’s No. 4 ranked recruiting class.

The Aggies have received plenty of slander heading into a critical 2023 season, but as loud as the naysayers hope to be, there is one thing they cannot dispute: Jimbo Fisher and his staff continue to flex their recruiting prowess. It’ss clear they are well on their way to bringing another top-15 class to College Station, and at this rate, it may be a question of whether the Aggies boast a potential top-five class once the dust settles.

Texas A&M’s 2024 class leaps into the top 10 within On3’s recruiting rankings

With the addition of 5-star wide receiver Cam Coleman, Texas A&M’s 2024 class jumped five spots to land within the top 10 in On3’s recruiting rankings.

There’s an old saying that only three things in life are certain: death, taxes, and Texas A&M pulling in another top-10 recruiting class.

Headlining their recent recruiting hot streak, which is still running full steam ahead, with the addition of five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman, Texas A&M’s 2024 class jumped five spots to No. 9 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. That puts the Aggies just ahead of Penn State to round out the top 10.

Georgia (No. 1), Florida (No. 3), and Alabama (No. 4) are the only SEC teams ahead of the Maroon and White in On3’s rankings for the 2024 cycle.

Coleman is the first five-star prospect to commit to Texas A&M in this cycle and headlines a recruiting class with seven other blue-chip commits. With Coleman’s Fourth of July fireworks commitment, the Aggies passed up SEC rivals LSU and Tennessee in the latest rankings.

Texas A&M’s latest jump in On3’s recruiting rankings comes from making similar seismic leaps in both 247Sports and ESPN‘s college football 2024 recruiting rankings. After a slow start through to begin the month of June, in which casual observers were keen to note that SEC competitors were outworking the Aggies on the recruiting trail, the Maroon and White compiled an emphatic response.

Four-star wide receiver Drelon Miller and four-star wideout Jaylan Hornsby are just two of the names that highlight the eight commitments the Aggies have received since June 22. The momentum won’t be stopping soon as five-star athlete/wide receiver Terry Bussey, who recently placed the Aggies in his Top 5 program list, looked to be very intrigued after Coleman’s commitment.

Jimbo Fisher and his staff deserve plenty of credit for their work in racking up Texas A&M’s recent commitments, and it’s clear they are well on their way to bringing another top-15 class to College Station. At this rate, a top-15 class feels like a given, and the true debate may lie in whether the Aggies boast a potential top-five class once all is said and done.

Coming off their recent recruiting haul, the Aggies 2024 has cracked the Top 10 in 247Sports’ newest 2024 team rankings.

Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class, one of the hottest cycles since the last week of June, started July off with a bang after landing four-star wide receiver Jaylan Hornsby on Saturday; the Aggies’ unstoppable momentum ride continued on Tuesday, which happened to be the Fourth of July, as five-star wide receiver Cameron Coleman, currently positioned as the No.3-ranked WR in the 2024 cycle, shocked the entire college football world by committing to the Maroon and White.

Ah yes, every naysayer and Texas fan who has dedicated too much of their time hoping for a Texas A&M recruiting downfall, sorry? Aggies wide receiver coach Dameyune Craig, who deserves a ton of credit for landing all four WR prospects in the cycle, isn’t finished yet as five-star athlete/wide receiver Terry Bussey, who recently placed the Aggies in his Top 5 program list, looked to be very intrigued after Coleman’s exciting commitment.

Let’s call it the “Coleman effect” for now, as Texas A&M has now broken into the Top 10 in 247Sports’ updated 2024 team rankings; the Aggies soared to No. 9 in both the Overall and Composite rankings from 13th just three days ago. To recap, here are the prospects Texas A&M has landed since Thursday, June 22:

  • Thursday, June 22: Four-star tight end Eric Karner, Four-star linebacker Jordan Lockhart.
  • Friday, June 23: Three-star offensive lineman Coen Echols.
  • Monday, June 26: Four-star offensive tackle Weston Davis.

2024 5-star WR Cam Coleman has committed to Texas A&M

Happy 4th of July, Aggies! 2024 5-star WR Cam Coleman has officially announced his commitment to Texas A&M!

BOOM!! Stunningly, Texas A&M received a massive surprise on the 4th of July, as 2024 five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman has committed to the Maroon and White after multiple recruiting analysts pegged the Alabama native to land with the Auburn Tigers.

Coleman is currently positioned as the 11th-ranked player in the 2024 cycle, the 3rd-ranked wide receiver prospect, and the No.1-ranked player in Alabama, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

For all the naysayers who believe the Aggies are struggling to land commitments compared to other SEC programs, patience is a virtue, and that has been proven tonight after Cameron Coleman’s commitment; he’s honestly one of the most skilled offensive talents in the last three recruiting cycles.

Standing at 6-3 and just over 180 pounds, Coleman is the definition of size, speed, and athleticism while showing incredible agility and fluidity as an athlete in space, possessing the straight-line speed and explosiveness off the line of scrimmage needed to excel at the next level. His height and athletic frame are the building blocks to develop into a No.1 receiving option at the X position for the Aggies, who, after losing 2022 five-star wide receiver Chris Marshall, aim to replace what they lost with Coleman, who may be an even better player at this point in his career.

Joining wide receivers Drelon Miller, Jaylan Hornsby, Debron Gatling, Jimbo Fisher, and his staff has assembled what could be an unstoppable unit as soon as the 2025 season. With his commitment, Texas A&M is now ranked 9th in 247Sports’ team recruiting rankings. From Cameron to Cameron, Congratulations, Cameron! and Gig ’em!

2024 4-star Edge Mylachi Williams places Texas A&M in his Top 5 program list

Ahead of his July 8 commitment, 2024 4-star Edge Mylachi Williams places Texas A&M in his Top 5 program list.

Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class has grown tenfold over the last three weeks, and after adding the likes of WR Jaylan Hornsby, WR Drelon Miller, OT Weston Davis, LB Tyanthony Smith, and Edge Gabriel Reliford, all in six days.

With more potential commitments this month, especially before the annual recruiting pool party on the weekend of July 30, the Aggies are quickly making their way to a top 10 or better teams ranking when all is said and done. Rounding out the Fourth of July Weekend, 2024 four-star Edge Mylachi Williams, out of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, has released his final Top 5 program list ahead of his July 8 commitment, including Pitt, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Penn State, and Texas A&M.

Williams is currently positioned as the 23rd-ranked Edge in the cycle and the 7th-ranked player in Pennsylvania. Unsurprisingly, he’s a favorite to land with Penn State by a large margin at 94.8%, according to On3, but the fact that the Aggies are still close to the finish line, anything can happen on July 8 as we’ve seen in the past.

Entering his senior season at Monsignor Bonner High School, his 2022 junior season was one to remember, recording 50 tackles and 11 sacks on the year. He hopes to eclipse those numbers in 2023.

Texas A&M makes massive jump in ESPN’s updated 2024 recruiting class rankings

Coming off their recent recruiting hot streak, Texas A&M’s 2024 class has skyrocketed to a top 25 spot in ESPN’s rankings, leapfrogging over a handful of SEC foes.

You can add the worldwide leader in sports as the next outlet to give Texas A&M football’s latest recruiting efforts some well-warranted respect.

After previously being unranked, the Aggies 2024 recruiting class has leapfrogged to the No. 16 spot in ESPN’s updated rankings. That puts A&M ahead of SEC foes Ole Miss (No. 17) and Mississippi State (No. 21) in the top-25 rankings.

No. 16 – Texas A&M Aggies

ESPN 300 commits: 2, Previous ranking: unranked

  • SEC Rank:  7 of 14
  • Top offensive commit: WR Dre’lon Miller (No. 89)
  • Top defensive commit: S Jordan Pride (No. 60)

The SEC teams ahead of the Aggies include Georgia (No. 1), Florida (No. 2), LSU (No. 10), South Carolina (No. 12), Alabama (No. 13), and Tennessee (No. 14).

According to ESPN Staff Writer Craig Haubert, the justification behind the Aggies’ rise comes off the heels of their recent recruiting haul:

“It seems a long time since the Aggies landed the No. 1 class in 2022, but they remain a factor on the recruiting trail, adding good quality talent. They picked up some steam with several additions in June, including a key one in in-state WR Dre’lon Miller. A prospect who has shown he can make plays in all three phases of the game at the high school level, he projects as a versatile offensive playmaker for the Aggies.

They also landed two ESPN 300 in-state big men in Ashton Funk, a big-bodied OL with good balance and flexibility, and DL Dealyn Evans, who has a good blend of strength and agility. QB Anthony Maddox is slightly built and needs to physically develop further, but he is a fluid and accurate passer with very good skills. One-time Florida State commit Jordan Pride is a nice pull out of Florida, as the No. 1-ranked safety has excellent speed and range.”

ESPN is just the latest to give kudos to Jimbo Fisher and staff for their recruiting success, with A&M’s 2024 class continuing to rise in 247Sports’ rankings while also receiving some love on social media. While some wondered whether the Aggies were beginning to lose their luster in the recruiting battle, A&M’s recent hot streak proves the landscape of recruiting in the Lone Star State has yet to change.

With more than a handful of prospects continuing to trend toward Texas A&M, it’s clear that Fisher and his staff have laid the groundwork for this 2024 class to finish in the top 10 or even higher.

Twitter reacts to Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class hot streak

As Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class has grown to 15 commits, the Aggies have skyrocketed in the rankings while receiving equal praise across social media.

Texas A&M has dominated the recruiting trail over the last two weeks, and there’s no denying that the Aggies 2024 class is shaping up to be among the best once it’s all said and done.

Hot off adding four-star receiver Jaylan Hornsby, who committed to the Maroon and White Saturday afternoon, Texas A&M now boasts the 12th-ranked class, according to 247Sports team rankings. Hornsby is joined by the likes of WR Drelon Miller, OT Weston Davis, LB Tyanthony Smith, and Edge Gabriel Reliford.

The Aggies have 15 commitments from two quarterbacks, three wide receivers, three offensive linemen, one tight end, two defensive linemen, one safety, and three blue-chip linebackers, with likely more on the way in the coming days. College football outlets aren’t the only ones beginning to take notice of A&M’s recruiting prowess. Rather, their efforts have been applauded by even the farthest reaches of social media.

College football fans know all too well that the recruiting battle is not for the faint of heart, so when the moment arrives to relish in picking up a commitment from a top prospect, celebrations will be had in earnest.

Conversely, missing out on top talent to a rival school only adds insult to injury, and you can be sure there are more than a few programs in this predicament in the aftermath of the Aggies racking up commitments.

Check out some of the best reactions to Texas A&M’s recruiting hot streak below, with one key theme resonating through them all: the Aggies are not done yet!

What Texas A&M is getting in 4-star wide receiver, Jaylan Hornsby

In landing 2024 four-star wide receiver Jaylan Hornsby, Texas A&M is adding a physical talent to their receiver room with a knack for racking up yards after the catch.

Texas A&M‘s recruiting efforts cannot be stopped after four-star wide receiver Jaylan Hornsby announced his commitment on Saturday, and it sets up the Aggies to have one of the most multifaceted receiving rooms in the future.

At 6-2 and 195 pounds, Hornsby brings a jolt of physicality and length that should work well in offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino’s new scheme. Historically, Petrino’s spread offense tends to leverage four-receivers sets predicated on stick and option routes.

In Petrino’s playbook, a versatile route tree that can stretch anywhere between six to 10 yards helps move the chains, particularly on third downs, while accounting for safe throws from the quarterback.

This system allows a talent like Hornsby to step in and make an impact both on the outside and even within the slot if called upon. When glancing at his high school tape, he typically operated on the outside while doing most of his damage on go-routes, making calculated assessments of opposing coverages before using his length and leaping ability to make a catch over a defensive back.

He may not be the type to use a quick first gear to blaze past a defender, but by all means, he has the tools to create just enough separation from his defender to win the matchup.

Generating yards after the catch will be an immense area of opportunity in Petrino’s offense, and that is a facet in which Hornsby should thrive. Alongside running go-routes, Hornsby was no stranger to making quick work of screens and turning press coverage into fades. It resulted in him averaging roughly 20 yards per reception during the 2022 season.

As a physical player who welcomes contact and can play through it due to his balance and toughness, Hornsby could see plenty of snaps in both red zone and goal-line situations. If Jimbo Fisher and Petrino want to become more aggressive on fourth-down conversion opportunities, having an adept talent like Hornsby will go a long way in being confident within those short-yardage situations.

Texas A&M’s newest commit should be more than capable of lining up nearly anywhere on the field, and while he’ll certainly work on expanding his route tree once he makes the jump to the collegiate level, his physicality, length, and knack for playing through contact should make him a key fulcrum of the Aggies offense in the future.

Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class boasts top 10 average rating per commit

With Drelon Miller’s commitment, Texas A&M’s 2024 class now holds a top 10 average rating according to On3’s football recruiting rankings.

Texas A&M is red-hot when it comes to its recruiting efforts for the 2024 class, and another college sports outlet is beginning to take notice.

With the latest commitment from four-star wide receiver Drelon Miller, the Aggies now boast the 10th-highest average rating per commit at 89.93 according to On3‘s football recruiting rankings. Texas A&M currently boasts six 4-star commits and seven 3-star commits, according to On3’s rankings score.

The only SEC teams ahead of the Maroon and White are Alabama (92.52), Georgia (91.53), Florida (91.01), and Auburn (90.07).

The Aggies have had no shortage of critics heading into a pivotal 2023 season, and truth be told the noise was beginning to carry over into their recruiting efforts. With plenty of their SEC foes racking up commitments heading into June, some were beginning to wonder if Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies were beginning to lose their luster when it came to the 2024 recruiting class.

How did the Maroon and White respond? Six commits over the course of eight days, with likely more to come in the near future. The Aggies are on a heater when it comes to their 2024 class, and it’s beginning to show across the board as their recruiting ranking has skyrocketed over at 247Sports.

The work is far from over for Jimbo Fisher and company, and with a handful of upcoming recruits increasingly trending toward committing to the Maroon and White, it wouldn’t be far-fetched to say that A&M’s 2024 class could very well surge into the top 10.

What Texas A&M is getting in 4-star wide receiver, Drelon Miller

With experience out wide, in the backfield, and even in the Wildcat, 4-star WR Drelon Miller will become Texas A&M’s newest versatile threat that can line up almost anywhere.

One of the top playmakers in the Lone Star State is officially staying home after four-star wide receiver Drelon Miller announced his commitment to Texas A&M on Thursday night. The 6-0, 190-pound athlete out of Silsbee, TX chose the Aggies over USC and LSU.

Many scouting outlets list Miller as an athlete, even though he’s logged a high production volume as a wide receiver. Upon closer look at his high school tape, it’s not rocket science to see why his versatile skillset was coveted by so many D1 programs in the country.

He can boast the title of being a 1,000-yard receiver on the gridiron, while he’s no stranger to the hardwood either, having averaged 17.5 points per game during his sophomore season. Additionally, he was a district finalist in the 100 meters in track. That multi-sport experience speaks to his versatility as an athlete, and you can be sure that Jimbo Fisher and Bobby Petrino are going to maximize that strength once he arrives in College Station.

Just take a look at one of the key takeaways from 247Sports National Scouting Analyst Gabe Brooks, who evaluated Miller on June 25:

“Devastating offensive weapon who makes plays for his high school team at receiver, running back, and Wildcat QB, accompanied by ample defensive snaps and return game experience. Wins with physical tools, instincts, tenacity, and football IQ.”

Snaps at receiver, running back, and Wildcat QB? Yeah, you can be sure Petrino will be gleaming at every opportunity to scheme Miller open on Saturday afternoons.

In many ways, Miller is equipped to mirror the same type of impact that current Aggie wideout Ainias Smith provides. Though his 2022 campaign was short, Smith saw snaps in the slot (148), backfield (27), wideout (21), and as a punt returner (22), according to PFF. When Smith’s eligibility draws to a close, the Aggies should be well-situated with his heir apparent in Miller on the way.

In reality, the game plan for Texas A&M’s newest commit is simple: get the ball in his hands by any means, and he’ll make defenses pay with yardage after the catch.

With Miller set to follow in the footsteps of Smith, and with a bright offensive mind in Bobby Petrino eager to maximize his potential, it may not be long before we recognize Texas A&M as “wide receiver U.”
