2024 5-star RB Nate Frazier set to announce his commitment on Sunday, Aug. 6

2024 5-star running back and Aggie recruiting target Nate Frazier will announce his commitment on Sunday, Aug. 6

Texas A&M 2024 recruiting target, five-star running back Nathaniel “Nate” Frazier, is set to announce his commitment Live on On3’s YouTube Channel On Aug. 6 at 3:00 p.m. ET.

Frazier, who released his Top 4 program list last month, will choose between Georiga, Oregon, Alabama, and Texas A&M, as the Bulldogs remain a favorite to land the talented back, who is set to enter his senior season at Mater Dei (CA).

According to On3, Frazier is currently positioned as the 15th-ranked player in the 2024 cycle, the No.1-ranked running back, and the No.2-ranked player in California, receiving his only five-star designation from the recruiting outlet.

During his 2022 junior season at Mater Dei (CA), Frazier ran for 693 yards and eight touchdowns in 13 games, with two 100-yard outings and a solid 11.4-yard per rush average. Frazier’s status with the Aggies ahead of Sunday’s announcement is somewhat unknown. Still, as we’ve seen throughout the summer regarding several recruiting predictions, nothing is set in stone until the announcement is made.

With vision, footwork, and incredible speed and agility in the open field, Frazier is as talented as they come in the backfield, and after acquiring 2023 five-star running back Reuben Owens, who’s already competing for the starting job this coming season, is undoubtedly an enticing pitch for Frazier from now on.

2024 4-star Edge and Aggie commit Gabriel Reliford reportedly saved his brother from a pit bull attack

2024 4-star Edge and Texas A&M commit Gabriel Reliford reportedly saved his brother from a potentially fatal pit bull attack.

Generally overused, the term “hero” has many definitions. In my humble opinion, the most accurate remains “One who shows great courage,” especially the everyday heroes who never receive the attention they deserve when extraordinary acts are taken.

In a story from Jimmy Walker of the Shreveport Times, which was released this week, 2024 3-star Edge and Texas A&M commit Gabriel Reliford, a Louisiana native and perhaps the most underrated prospect in the entire 2024 cycle, is much more than meets the eye between the hashes on Friday nights. According to Walker, Reliford reportedly saved his then 10-year-old brother Emmanuel from a potentially fatal pit bull attack just a few short years ago.

“He turned to see that none of the neighbors watching the incident were offering assistance, so he headed back and was able to wrestle Emmanuel away from the dog and get him to safety. Emmanuel survived, but needed multiple hospital visits to have bites and cuts repaired.”

As scary as that moment had to be for everyone involved, the fact that Reliford immediately sprung to action speaks volumes about his character and leadership skills in times of crisis. Now that’s a hero, folks.

Gabriel Reliford’s current recruiting profile paints a player who is never tired of improving his craft, as the once zero-star prospect has now risen to become the 31st-ranked Edge in the class and the 10th-ranked player in Louisiana, according to 247Sports Composite.

As the article continues to open us up to Gabriel Reliford’s incredible work ethic outside of the game, high intellect, and love of Anime during his downtime from practice and recruiting trips, Jimbo Fisher and his staff have found themselves the next great representative for the Texas A&M has to offer on the field, and in the classroom.

Despite not boasting the longest wingspan compared to others in his class, Reliford leverages his speed to beat opposing tackles on the Edge. With an impressively quick first burst off the line, he can easily flex his athleticism and versatility. Once he enters the Aggies’ conditioning program, adding healthy mass could shift him to the defensive line if needed.

2025 3-star OL Joshua Moses has committed to Texas A&M

Boom! Texas A&M adds their first prospect in the 2025 recruiting cycle as 3-star OL Joshua Moses has committed to the Maroon and White!

BOOM! Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class has added its first prospect in the cycle, as three-star offensive lineman and Houston native Joshua Moses has sent a clear message to the rest of the 2025 O-line class: Offensive line development runs through College Station, Texas.

While some fans may have started to enter a state of unease regarding the Aggies’ slow-growing 2025 cycle, Moses’ underdog story is still being written. As his recruiting profile grows after an impressive sophomore season at Legacy, the school of sports sciences (TX), Jimbo Fisher and his staff have reeled in a big fish before several fellow blue blood programs finally wake up and realize his many talents.

Moses is currently positioned as the 82nd-ranked player in Texas; the 6-foot-4, 320-pound incoming junior received offers from Arkansas, Penn State, Oklahoma, and TCU, but after attending the Aggies’ annual pool party last weekend, combined with his impressive performance during Jimbo Fisher’s football camp on June 9, his decision was solidified just days after leaving Aggieland.

Congratulations, Joshua! Gig ’em!

Texas A&M fall football camp: Thursday practice highlights

Here are the highlights from Texas A&M’s second full practice of the 2023 fall football season

What if I told you that one of the biggest stories to come out of the start of Texas A&M’s fall football camp was the weight loss/gains throughout the roster, including star defensive tackle Walter Nolen dropping 30 pounds ahead of his pivotal sophomore campaign? Yes, it’s essential.

On Wednesday, Head Coach Jimbo Fisher and senior offensive lineman Layden Robinson spoke to the media ahead of A&M’s first practice of the season, as the quarterback competition between Conner Weigman and Max Johnson will likely take center stage of the current linebacker and offensive line depth. Of course, no Texas A&M press conference can be complete without questions regarding offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino’s eminent personality.

Thursday’s practice shifted most of our attention to the defense, as the Aggies’ deep and talented defensive line went through many drills. In contrast, the underrated defensive back group also showed off their coverage skill set. At the same time, the linebackers, a postion that can’t afford attrition, may have found a proven depth piece in Jackson State linebacker Jurriente Davis, who currently looks to be in excellent football shape.

Inching towards Sunday’s open practice at Kyle Field, here are the top highlights from Texas A&M’s second fall practice on Thursday afternoon.

Confirmed: Texas A&M WR Jalen Preston’s career with the Aggies has come to an end

It has been confirmed by Travis Brown of the Eagle that wide receiver Jalen Preston will not return for his sixth season with the program.

The start of fall practice on Wednesday meant the release of the official 2023 roster. While 99% of the players we anticipated to be included were accounted for, senior wide receiver Jalen Preston was surprisingly nowhere to be found. While many of us speculated a potential retirement from the game altogether, confirmation regarding his plans came to light on Thursday afternoon.

According to Travis Brown of The Eagle, Preston, who signed a NIL deal with Gage Gandy Bail Bonds and would have been entering his sixth season with the program, expressed to Brown that he would forgo what would be his final season with the Aggies to train for the following year’s 2024 NFL Draft. Preston reportedly declined to answer when asked to provide a reason why he chose this new route.

Spending a majority of his time as a backup after his initial redshirt season, Preston’s most productive campaign came in 2021, appearing in 12 games while recording 255 yards and two touchdowns, as his best game came in the season finale loss against LSU with 57 yards and all two of his touchdowns on the year.

As a four-star receiver out of Manvel High School, Preston’s highly productive senior season included 47 receptions for 1,096 yards and 13 touchdowns, leading to earning District 23-5A most valuable player award and an Under Armor All-America spot to boot.

From a depth chart perspective, Preston’s competition at the X receiver spot was difficult, to say the least, as Evan Stewart and Noah Thomas have solidified themselves as starters at the spot in varying packages.

2025 5-star CB Devin Sanchez has released his Top 10 program list

After attending Texas A&M’s recent recruiting pool party, 2025 5-star cornerback Devin Sanchez has placed the Aggies in his Top 10 program list

Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class may be in its beginning stages with, yes, zero commits, but remember where their 2024 cycle was at this time last year, with now 18 verbal commits and continually growing ahead of the 2023 season.

In need of a “splash” commitment to get things rolling, one of the top athletes in the 2025 cycle, five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez, is fresh off his unofficial visit to College Station during the Aggies’ annual recruiting pool party last weekend, released his Top 10 program list on Thursday afternoon which includes Michigan, Ohio State, LSU, Florida State, Alabama, Oregon, USC, Oklahoma, Texas, and of course, Texas A&M.

According to 247Sports Composite, Sanchez is currently positioned as the 7th-ranked prospect in the 2024 class, the 2nd-ranked cornerback back, and the No.1-ranked player in Texas, as he is set to enter his senior season at North Shore (TX).

Standing at 6-2 and 170 pounds, Sanchez’s size and skillset markedly resemble former North Shore and Texas A&M cornerback Denver Harris, who transferred to LSU this offseason due to several off-the-field incidents that plagued his future with the program. Sanchez’s 2022 sophomore season is just a small his ability at the position, recording 38 tackles, four interceptions, and 18 pass breakups.

In terms of cornerback development at the next level, LSU, Alabama, and Oregon stand out more than any program within his Top 10, and even though Texas A&M has been mostly hit or miss in producing top-tier NFL talent at the postion, cornerback Jaylon Jones and defensive back Antonio Johnson may not have early-round selections in last year’s NFL draft. Still, Devin Sanchez has clearly noticed that the talent pool is increasing in every future recruiting cycle.

Texas A&M rises in the newest ‘CBS Sports 133’ rankings ahead of the 2023 season

Ahead of the 2023 CFB season, the newest “CBS Sports 133” has Texas A&M among the Top 25 teams in the country

Ah yes, we’re finally near the offseason finish line as the 2023 college football season is less than a month away, and for Texas A&M, their pivotal bounce-back campaign starts on Saturday, Sept. 2, against New Mexico inside what should be a packed Kyle Field.

With fall camps beginning all across the country this week. Head Coach Jimbo Fisher led his 2023 roster on the field for their first official practice on Wednesday afternoon; new OC Bobby Petrino’s influence on Aggies’ talented pieces on offense will likely be seen in the coming practices, leading up to Sunday’s open practice to the media and the public on Sunday, Aug. 6.

Loaded at nearly every position, the quarterback battle between Conner Weigman and Max Johnson is the storyline that will continue to dominate the headlines this month. As the competition is much closer than many of us in Aggie media assumed, Weigman, who is entering his sophomore year, finished the 2022 season on a high note with eight touchdowns and zero interceptions in five games played.

This week, CBS Sports writer Chip Patterson released his newest version of the site’s annual “CBS Sports 133” rankings, and even after the Aggies’ dreadful 5-7 (2-6 SEC) slogfest of a season, the shear potential the roster presents, specifically the talented 2022 recruiting class’s “Baptism by fire” campaign while playing extensive minutes on both sides of the ball, gaining valuable experience in the process.

Finishing the 2022 season ranked 71st, Texas A&M has risen 47 spots to No. 24 in the Patterson’s current rankings, and echoing the same message we at Aggies Wire have tried to convey all summer, last season’s results were simply a brief digression apart of a much bigger plan moving forward.

Last season’s 5-7 showing was an aberration compared to how most teams finish with a roster as talented as that of Texas A&M. This adjustment recognizes that talent will likely deliver more wins than a year ago and notes what could be a positive spark for the offense in the hire of Bobby Petrino as offensive coordinator.

How quickly Bobby Petrino’s impact on the Aggies’ offense will take effect is up in the air, though knowing his background and the players he has at his disposal, the sky is truly the limit.

Second-year defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin has also taken over coaching linebackers, a postion of great struggle last season, while the defensive line led by senior DT McKinnley Jackson is one of the deepest groups in the country. The pieces are there for much more than a rebound season; just how well they fit together during the entire 12-game slate is the remaining question.

Texas A&M fall football camp: Wednesday’s practice provided a glimpse into what’s to come this season

Texas A&M’s first fall football practice on Wednesday provided a small glimpse into the teams tremendous talent pool and potential ahead of the 2023 season.

Even though a small sample size, those in Texas A&M media who attended Wednesday’s practice provided extensive context regarding the potential change in offensive tempo under Bobby Petrino’s guidance, at the same time, Weigman was the first quarterback to practice with the first-team offense, as Max Johnson, who worked with the second-team on the day, is likely to take first-team reps in either of the following two practices.

Texas A&M’s very large offensive line is a group that has already received a dose of preseason hype, though the question remains, is it deserved? Fisher certainly thinks so after expressing confidence in the experienced group earlier in the day. Due to junior right tackle Reuben Fatheree’s minor injury, the first-team starting lineup consisted of Chase Bisontis at right tackle, Layden Robinson at right guard, Bryce Foster at center, Mark Nabou and Kam Dewberry at left guard, and Trey Zuhn at left tackle.

Outside of basic postion drills on both sides of the ball, we’ll likely see more from the defense, especially the deep and talented defensive line group, later this week, so all in all, great throws were made, the players were excited to get back to the grind, and most importantly, the team is as healthy as they’ve been entering fall camp in quite some time.

Texas A&M fails to make 2024 5-star Edge Colin Simmons’ final Top 3 program list

Even after his recent visit to College Station, Texas A&M failed to make 2024 5-star Edge Colin Simmons’ Top 3 list

The 2024 five-star Edge Colin Simmons recruiting battle is finally near the finish line. However, for Texas A&M, it’s time to move on and focus on the rest of the remaining Edge prospects in the cycle as LSU, Miami, and, yes, the Texas Longhorns are the lone programs to make his final Top 3 program list.

According to 247Sports Composite, Simmons is currently positioned as the 8th-ranked player in the 2024 class, the No.1-ranked Edge prospect, and the No.1-ranked player in Texas. Although Miami is still in the fight, LSU and Texas are in stiff competition, while the Tigers remain the leaders with a 57.1% chance to land Simmons, while receiving the vaunted Steve Wiltfong Crystal Prediction to boot.

Standing at 6-3 and 225 pounds, strength, bend, and speed to power define Simmons’s ability as a pass rusher, and like most high-end athletes coming out of the high school ranks, he’ll quickly develop his pass rush arsenal as soon as he enters a collegiate program. Good luck Colin!

Texas A&M WR Jalen Preston not listed on the Aggies 2023 roster

Senior wide receiver Jalen Preston player was surprisingly unlisted after the newest edition of the Aggies’ 2023 football roster was released.

Texas A&M’s fall football season is officially underway as Head Coach Jimbo Fisher and his staff led the 2023 roster on the field for the first full practice on Wednesday afternoon.

Earlier today, Fisher and offensive lineman Layden Robinson spoke to the media to discuss the team’s progress this summer. At the same time, the highly anticipated position battle at quarterback between Conner Weigman and Max Johnson will surely take center stage leading into the weekend.

The start of fall practice also meant the release of the official 2023 roster. While 99% of the players we anticipated to be included were accounted for, senior wide receiver Jalen Preston was nowhere to be found. Preston, who has been with the program for four seasons, was among the highest-ranked members of Jimbo Fisher’s first recruiting class with the Aggies in 2018.

Even more surprising is the timeline of this new development after Preston reportedly signed a NIL deal with Gage Gandy Bail Bonds in March, so further speculation isn’t necessary until more information comes out regarding his immediate future with the program.
