WATCH: Teradja Mitchell’s father gets phone call revealing his son as Ohio State captain

Linebackers coach Al Washington had a surprise for Teradja Mitchell’s dad. Watch this awesome phone call.

If you follow us, you know how much of a sucker I am for these things. We like to keep tabs on phone calls to Ohio State players getting selected to the NFL draft, and we are also a big fan of parents receiving phone calls revealing their sons as captains of the Buckeye football team.

Being a captain at a place like Ohio State is special. It sets you apart for dinners and other family-type atmospheres down the road at one of the greatest college football programs in the history of the sport. Nobody can ever take that away.

But this one seems a little more different. Linebacker Teradja Mitchell was voted captain and he and linebackers coach Al Washington informed his dad on a phone call that exudes emotion. You can feel the pride and love between father and son, and I can’t get enough of it. Maybe you won’t either, because at the end of the day, with the charged environment we are in this country, this is the kind of content we need.

Expect big things from Mitchell this year. The coaching staff continues to say that he’s going to get a ton of time on the field, and being voted captain after not being in the rotation much last season says all you need to know about how far he has come.

Ohio State announces six captains for this fall

Ohio State announced its six team captains for the 202 football season on Friday evening.

Being a captain of a historical program like Ohio State is something nobody can ever take away from you. It sets you apart and allows for special things like the captains’ dinner and place among a select few to ever run through the tunnel on the banks of the Olentangy.

The Buckeyes lost all of their seasoned captains from last season and announced six new captains for this fall on Friday evening. These six will hopefully lead the team towards a fifth-straight Big Ten championship run and potential appearance in another College Football Playoff.

Having all new captains snaps a streak of seven consecutive seasons in which there was at least one returning. It’s also the fewest number of captains since the 2015 team. All renditions of The Ohio State Buckeyes have had at least seven named since then. However, just because it’s six new captains doesn’t mean the lot is all a bunch of inexperienced players, far from it.

Here are your six captains of the Ohio State football team in 2021.

The Big Ten’s top five outside linebackers heading into 2021

The #Buckeyes are breaking in three new starters at linebacker, but something tells me big things are coming from a certain OSU linebacker.

Ohio State football kicks off in less than a month, and we have been rolling through the best of the best of the Big Ten at each position. We have already completed our list of top five quarterbacks, running backs, wide receiverstight endsoffensive tacklesguards, centers, and defensive ends.

The Buckeyes are absolutely dominant on the defensive line, but with all three starting linebackers from the 2020 season gone, is there anyone talented enough to make this list?

We roll through it with the understanding that this is all for fun and there’s sure to be some surprises, injuries, and disappointments along the way.

Look: Ohio State player wants to play in SEC

This Buckeyes player wants to come to the much superior conference for the 2020 season.

With the Big Ten 2020 college football season reportedly being canceled, players all across the Midwest are looking for ways to get on the field.

Yes, that even means coming to the much-hated SEC.

On Monday afternoon, Ohio State outside linebacker Teradja Mitchell tweeted out a question I’m sure maybe some of his teammates are also wondering.

He has the full support from the Buckeyes wide receiver coach Brian Hartline as well.

I say bring it, Buckeyes. We will see how you do playing in a much superior conference.
