Virginia vs. Tennessee odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Virginia vs. Tennessee odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Virginia Cavaliers (3-0) and the No. 9 Tennessee Volunteers (4-0) meet Thursday at Baha Mar Convention Center in Nassau, Bahamas. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Virginia vs. Tennessee odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

The Cavaliers are unbeaten through 3 games, but no one is beating their chest about beating the Campbell Camels or Coppin State Eagles. In fact, UVA failed to cover either of those games as the Under cashed in both. However, the Hoos posted an impressive 70-60 win over the Villanova Wildcats Friday as a 4-point underdog while the Over (128) cashed at CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore in a neutral-floor battle.

The Volunteers have rolled to 4 wins in 4 tries, while covering the past 3 outings. They’ve averaged 97.5 points in the past 2 wins over the Austin Peay Governors and Montana Grizzlies, although that isn’t exactly a challenging schedule. However, the Vols have a 77-55 win at the Louisville Csrdinals under their belt on Nov. 9, which does move the needle a little bit.

Virginia vs. Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 69, Virginia 61

Moneyline

Tennessee (-1000) will cost you 10 times your potential return, or a $100 wager will return a profit of just $10. That’s way too much risk for not enough reward, and backing such heavy favorites regularly over the long term is a poor betting strategy.

PASS.

Against the spread

Back VIRGINIA +12.5 (-110) to slow down the pace and keep this game at least within single digits in the nightcap of this Bahamas event.

Tennessee -12.5 (-110) has covered 3 in a row with each of those victories by a winning margin of 22 or more points.

While UVA has posted a 1-2 ATS mark so far, it has covered and won outright in its only previous game as an underdog.

Over/Under

OVER 125.5 (-110) is worth a look, as the Volunteers have the potential to crack the code of the Cavaliers defense.

Tennessee has scored 77 or more points in all 4 games to date, but really only the win over Louisville is particularly notable. Still, the Vols rank No. 1 in the nation with a 58.1% field-goal percentage, and it’s bombs away with a 41.6% mark from behind the 3-point line.

Austin Peay at Tennessee odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Austin Peay at Tennessee odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Austin Peay Governors (3-0) and the No. 9 Tennessee Volunteers (3-0) meet at Food City Center Sunday at 3 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Austin Peay vs. Tennessee odds as we make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Austin Peay beat the Chattanooga Mocs 67-61 on Monday as a 2-point home underdog. The Under 147 hit, with the Governors’ defense stifling the Mocs, who shot just 5-for-29 (17.2%) from beyond the arc. Junior G LJ Thomas led the way with 18 points and 5 rebounds.

Tennessee posted a dominant 92-57 victory over the Montana Grizzlies on Wednesday, covering as a 26-point home favorite. The Over 141 hit as the Volunteers controlled the glass with a 38-17 rebound advantage. Four starters scored in double figures, led by senior F Igor Milicic Jr., who had 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists.

The teams last met in 2022 with Tennessee rolling to an 86-44 win. Austin Peay is 1-10 vs. the Volunteers, with their lone victory in 2011.

Austin Peay at Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 82, Austin Peay 62

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no way anyone should consider betting Tennessee (-10000) at this price. That’s risking $100 to win a $1 — not a wise sports gambling strategy. However, when looking at the spread, things get more enticing.

Against the spread

BET AUSTIN PEAY +28.5 (-110).

Austin Peay visits Thompson-Boling Arena seeking its second upset of the season. The Governors, who recently defeated the Butler Bulldogs 68-66, are 4-1 ATS over their last 5 games.

Tennessee’s dominance on the glass has been key, outrebounding the Louisville Cardinals and Montana by a combined 78-43.

While the Volunteers have the clear talent edge, Austin Peay’s experienced roster continues to improve. I’ve got the Governors keeping this game competitive with Tennessee pulling away late, but not covering.

Over/Under

BET OVER 140.5 (-110).

Both teams are offensive powerhouses, each averaging over 75 points per game. Tennessee has been efficient, shooting 53.7% from the field this season.

Austin Peay is fueled by NC State transfer Thomas, who’s putting up nearly 20 points per game and thriving in high-pressure situations.

The Over has hit in 12 of Austin Peay’s last 14 games since last season and in 6 of their last 8 on the road. The Over has hit in 6 of Tennessee’s last 9 November games, setting the stage for another high-scoring game.

Tennessee at Georgia odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Tennessee at Georgia odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The No. 4 Tennessee Volunteers (8-1, 5-1 SEC) pay a visit to the No. 10 Georgia Bulldogs (7-2, 5-2) Saturday in a ranked SEC clash. Kickoff from Sanford Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Tennessee vs. Georgia odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Georgia was stunned 28-10 by the No. 16 Ole Miss Rebels Saturday while failing to cover as a 2-point favorite. The Bulldogs turned the ball over 3 times and allowed 397 yards of offense in the loss. Georgia is No. 10 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

Tennessee, which is No. 4, enters after blowing out the Mississippi State Bulldogs 33-14 Saturday while failing to cover as a 26-point favorite. The Volunteers put up 452 total yards of offense in the win. The Vols have won each of their last 4 games.

Tennessee at Georgia picks and predictions

Prediction

Georgia 21, Tennessee 17

Moneyline

PASS.

I like Georgia to pick up the win here as I simply do not trust Tennessee’s passing offense and as Georgia is simply the more poised team for this primetime matchup. Tennessee’s QB Nico Iamaleava was in concussion protocol all week, but he has been cleared to play. This news only shifted the lines to a small degree.

The Bulldogs are not worth the risk of betting on as -350 favorites, so bet on the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

LEAN TENNESSEE +8.5 (-110).

Tennessee is the better team ATS this season, being 5-4 on the year while the Bulldogs are an abysmal 2-7 ATS this year.

Tennessee’s dominant rushing attack and Georgia’s tendency to turn the ball over, especially in the passing game, will help Tennessee keep this game competitive.

This is a lean because Tennessee is only 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 46.5 (-115).

The Under has hit in 5 of Tennessee’s last 6 games and is 4-1 in Tennessee’s last 5 wins. For Georgia, the Under is 2-1 in its last 3 games and 6-3 on the season.

Tennessee is also a team that is dominant in the run game, which will help bleed the clock and keep this game Under.

Montana at Tennessee odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Montana at Tennessee odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Montana Grizzlies (2-1) and the No. 9 Tennessee Volunteers (2-0) meet at Food City Center Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Montana vs. Tennessee odds as we make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.

Montana’s 2 wins have come against NAIA opponents, the latest a 94-44 victory over Northwest Indian College on Sunday. The Grizzlies dominated the glass, outrebounding their opponent 50-26. Guard Kai Johnson led the way with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks in an impressive all-around performance.

Tennessee moved to 2-0 with a 77-55 win over Louisville on Saturday, covering as a 2.5-point road underdog while the Under 157 hit. The Volunteers shot an impressive 10-for-19 from 3-point range (52.6%). Senior guards Chaz Lanier and Zakai Zeigler each scored 19 points.

Montana at Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 82, Montana 56

Moneyline

PASS.

You should obviously avoid betting Tennessee (-10000) because the odds are outrageous. Look at the spread or total if you want to make a bet.

Against the spread

BET TENNESSEE -24.5 (-110).

Tennessee has looked strong in its first 2 games and should control this one easily. They’re 1-1 ATS, having missed a larger spread against Gardner-Webb, but shot an impressive 56.6% with 40 rebounds against Louisville. Montana’s 2 wins came against weaker teams, and they struggled against Oregon, shooting 34% with 14 turnovers. At 0-3 ATS, Montana will have a tough time keeping pace here.

Over/Under

BET UNDER -141.5 (-110).

Montana went Under in their only game with odds, scoring under 50 against Oregon while hitting just 24.2% from 3 and 61.3% from the line. Facing Tennessee’s tough defense, it’s unlikely they’ll improve much. Meanwhile, the Volunteers rank 25th nationally with a 53.7% field goal percentage, averaging 78.5 points and 34.5 rebounds per game, while holding opponents to 25.8% shooting from beyond the arc. I’ll take the Under in this matchup.

Mississippi State vs. Tennessee odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Mississippi State at Tennessee odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Mississippi State Bulldogs (2-7, 0-5 SEC) and the No. 6 Tennessee Volunteers (7-1, 4-1) meet at Neyland Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Mississippi State vs. Tennessee odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Mississippi State snapped its 7-game losing streak with a 45-20 victory over UMass, covering as a 19-point home favorite and going over the 59-point total. QB Michael Van Buren Jr. scored through the air and added 2 rushing touchdowns, while RB Johnnie Daniels tallied 92 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Tennessee extended its winning streak to 3 with a 28-18 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats, though they didn’t cover the 17.5-point spread. The game surpassed the 45.5-point total, driven by RB Dylan Sampson‘s 142 yards and 2 touchdowns on 27 carries. TE Miles Kitsekman contributed with 6 catches for 97 yards and a touchdown from QB Nico Iamaleava.

Mississippi State vs. Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 31, Mississippi State 14

Moneyline

PASS.

Tennessee (-5000) will win this game, but obviously, you are not going to bet $5,000 to win $100 in return. Look to the spread and/or total.

Against the spread

BET MISSISSIPPI STATE +25.5 (-110).

Mississippi State has covered the spread in 4 of its last 5, while Tennessee has failed to cover in 3 of the last 4. The Vols control the pace with long, sustained drives and a solid run game, which wears down defenses. Tennessee’s defense has been effective, holding all opponents under 20 points. However, with a spread of 24, The Bulldogs should keep this game competitive like they’ve been able to do consistently this season.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 61.5 (-105).

Tennessee’s defense is set to keep scoring low, thanks to their impressive sack rate and elite red-zone performance. The Volunteers have hit the Under in 4 of their last 5 games, fueled by a relentless pass rush that disrupts opposing offenses, especially teams like Mississippi State with weaker pass protection. The Bulldogs’ offense has lacked consistency and struggles to sustain drives, and Tennessee’s top-notch, red-zone defense often holds opponents to field goals rather than touchdowns.

Kentucky at Tennessee odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Kentucky at Tennessee odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Kentucky Wildcats (3-5, 1-5 SEC) and Tennessee Volunteers (6-1, 3-1) renew acquaintances in a Saturday battle in Knoxville. Kickoff at Neyland Stadium will be at 7:45 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around Kentucky vs. Tennessee odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Kentucky lost 24-10 as a 2-point home favorite to the Auburn Tigers last Saturday. The Wildcats went just 4-for-12 in converting third downs, and they were more-than-doubled-up in total yardage (498-224) in losing their third consecutive game.

Tennessee, which is No. 7 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, is coming off a bye week following back-to-back home wins. In the Volunteers’ last game on Oct. 19, they downed then-No. 7 Alabama 24-17. The Vols were 3.5-point home underdogs in what was an upset triumph. UT ranks eighth in the nation in yards per game (473.6) and third in yards allowed (259.0).

Lots of juice and no interest. AVOID.

Against the spread

Tennessee is is 6-2 ATS in its last 8 games.

In last year’s contest, the Volunteers covered as 4-point favorites in a 33-27 triumph in Lexington. Tennessee rambled for 254 yards on the ground, though, and was somewhat undone by 9 penalties. UT has covered in 3 straight series meetings and in 5 of the last 6. The Vols are also 6-2 ATS in the last 8 head-to-head meetings at home.

The Tennessee defensive line looms as a major factor in Saturday’s game, and the Vols should control the game in the trenches. Look for UT to work its way to a 2- or 3-score lead and then have a good shot at prevailing against the number with its ability to limit explosive plays while causing havoc.

But the leverage here is minimal: consider a partial-unit play on TENNESSEE 17.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The total (45.5) has cashed in 6 of UK’s last 8 games and in 4 of UT’s last 5. Series meetings in Knoxville have seen the Under has go 6-2-1 since 2006.

Both teams are proficient with their red-zone defense. Both have decent kickers (Kentucky especially so), and some 3-by-3 ball could well develop in stretches. And the Wildcats play at a deliberate pace when they are finding success gaining yards.

Some havoc-turnover-short-field edge by UT could make this a battle, but the UNDER 45.5 (-110) is a slight lean.

The 7th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide (5-1, 2-1 SEC) meet the 10th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers (5-1, 2-1) Saturday at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (ABC / ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Alabama vs. Tennessee odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Crimson Tide narrowly escaped another embarrassing loss last week against South Carolina, hanging on for a 27-25 win despite being favored by 21 points. The Gamecocks were unable to convert a 2-point conversion after a TD with 43 seconds left in regulation. South Carolina led 19-14 going into the 4th quarter, too.

The Tide are 0-2 against the spread (ATS) in the past 2 outings, including the 40-35 loss at Vanderbilt Oct. 5. The Over has cashed in 4 in a row, with the offense going for 35 or more points in 5 of 6 games and the defense allowing an alarming 33.0 PPG in the previous 3 outings.

The Volunteers also lost 2 weeks ago, falling 19-14 at Arkansas as 14-point favorites. Tennessee had a bit of a hangover from that one, escaping with a 23-17 win over lowly Florida in overtime last week at Neyland as the Under (56) cashed for the 3rd consecutive game.

Alabama leads the all-time series 59-39-7, including 16 of the past 17 since Oct. 20, 2007. The lone exception was a wild 52-49 win Oct. 15, 2022, in the most recent meeting in Knoxville.

Alabama at Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 36, Alabama 33

Moneyline

TENNESSEE (+125) is worth playing at home as a slight ‘dog. The truth is, neither of these teams is playing very good football lately.

Alabama (-150) could easily have lost to South Carolina, and that would have effectively taken it out of the running for a playoff spot. But, it didn’t, and if it is able to score a big road win against the Vols, it is right back in the mix.

However, QB Nico Iamaleava and the Tennessee offense should give the Bama pass defense plenty of trouble, similar to how Vandy’s Diego Pavia picked it apart.

Against the spread

Take TENNESSEE +3 (-110) in front of the home fans. In the most recent meeting in Knoxville, we had a wild 52-49 shootout. With Iamaleava and QB Jalen Milroe, it wouldn’t be surprising to seeing another close, yet high-scoring affair.

The Vols are 0-2 ATS in the past 2 games and have failed to cover the past 3 regular-season outings as underdogs, so there is risk.

However, Alabama -3 (-110) is 0-2 ATS in the past 2 outings, too, while going 1-1 ATS on the road. As a single-digit favorite, Bama has cashed in 5 of the past 6. But, that was during the Nick Saban era. The Tide just don’t have the same mystique under Kalen DeBoer.

Over/Under

OVER 57.5 (-110) might be the best play on the board.

Forget about the 2022 meeting, the last in Knoxville, when we had a combined 101 points. We should still see a decent amount of points with 2 top-tier passers, though.

The Over has hit in 4 in a row for Bama, and 5 of 6 games, while the total has gone high in 2 road outings with the Tide averaging 38.5 PPG and allowing 25.0 PPG.

There is risk, however, as Tennessee has cashed the Under in 3 in a row, while the defense is allowing just 17.0 PPG in the span. However, the past 2 games were against Arkansas and Florida. Milroe and Bama will prove to be a much larger challenge.

The Gators chomped down on Central Florida with a 24-13 victory as 1-point dogs last week. QB Graham Mertz was 19-for-23 for 179 yards, 1 TD and 0 INTs. Six rushers combined for 130 yards on the ground against UCF. Florida has won 3 of 4 after a bad loss to Miami to open the year.

Tennessee, No. 9, in the US LBM Coaches Poll, laid an egg against Arkansas in a 19-14 defeat. The Vols were 14-point favorites and ended their 4-game win and cover streak to open the campaign. RB Dylan Sampson was fantastic on the ground with 22 rushes for 140 yards and 2 scores. QB Nico Iamaleava left a lot to be desired through the air, though, going 17-for-29 for 158 yards.

Florida at Tennessee picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 28, Florida 14

Moneyline

These teams met in Gainesville last year, and the Gators won 29-16 as 4.5-point dogs. Mertz was 19-for-24 for 166 yards, 1 TD and 0 INTs, and they largely relied on the ground game. I look for a similar formula, but for the Vols to prevail.

Forego the ML and take MONTRELL JOHNSON OVER 54.5 RUSHING YARDS (-115). He had 54 last week, but this cashes in 3 of the other 4 games this season — including against Miami. He went for 11-106-1 in that game.

Against the spread

I like FLORIDA +14.5 (-110) here as they have been gathering momentum. They’ve won 3 of 4 and covered in the last 2. Meanwhile, Tennessee has looked vulnerable.

Over/Under

This total is too high for me. As I mentioned, the Vols have been vulnerable. They’ve scored 14 and 25 in the last 2 weeks. Now those games were on the road, but I don’t see too much of a correction with their home cooking. Both teams are 3-2 O/U with each cashing Unders in their last game.

Take the UNDER 56.5 (-110).

Tennessee at Arkansas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Tennessee at Arkansas odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Tennessee Volunteers (4-0, 1-0 SEC) take a trip to visit the Arkansas Razorbacks (3-2, 1-1) Saturday. Kickoff from Razorback Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC/ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Tennessee vs. Arkansas odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Arkansas suffered a 21-17 loss vs. the No. 24 Texas A&M Aggies Saturday while covering as a 6.5-point underdog. It was the Razorbacks’ 3 turnovers that cost them the game despite outgaining the Aggies 379-297 in total yards and possessing the ball for just over 30 minutes.

The Vols are coming off a bye week after beating the No. 18 Oklahoma Sooners 25-15 in its last outing Sep. 21 while covering as a 5.5-point favorite. Tennessee forced 3 turnovers in the win and survived a late comeback attempt by the Sooners. Tennessee is No. 4 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

Tennessee at Arkansas picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 42, Arkansas 35

Moneyline

PASS.

Tennessee should pick up the win as the better and more rested team to cover as a -550 favorite, but a team favored so heavily is never worth the risk of betting on. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

LEAN ARKANSAS +13.5 (-105).

The Razorbacks’ offense picks up 495 yards per game and scores 35.8 points per game. That will be enough to keep Arkansas in this game. Tennessee looked human in the win vs. Oklahoma, and I expect this Arkansas offense to punch the Vols in the mouth out the gates en route to covering here.

Arkansas has also covered the spread in each of its 2 games vs. ranked squads this year.

This is a lean because Tennessee is the better team and because Tennessee has covered in every game this year.

Over/Under

BET OVER 57.5 (-105).

Both squads have phenomenal offenses, as both rank in the top 4 in the SEC in total yards per game and both average north of 35 points per game. The Over is also 3-1 for Tennessee this year and 3-2 for Arkansas.

Be aware that an Over number set this highly is always risky to play. Tennessee does also have the best defense in the SEC in terms of yards allowed per game (176), but the Vols have played very weak competition with the exception of Oklahoma this season.

Tennessee at Oklahoma odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Tennessee at Oklahoma odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 13 Oklahoma Sooners (3-0, 0-0 SEC) welcome the No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers (3-0, 0-0) to Memorial Stadium in Norman Saturday. Kickoff in the conference clash is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Tennessee vs. Oklahoma odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Tennessee is No. 7 and Oklahoma is No. 13 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

This will be the Sooners’ first conference game as a member of the SEC. They beat Temple 51-3 to open the season and took down Houston 16-12 and Tulane 34-19. Oklahoma is 2-1 against the spread (ATS). It has stayed undefeated by its rock-solid defense, having yet to allow more than 20 points in a game.

The Volunteers have the opposite problem. They have one of the most dynamic offenses in the nation. Tennessee beat Chattanooga 69-3 to open the season then took down NC State 51-10 and most recently Kent State 71-0. The Vols are 3-0 ATS, having a margin of victory of over 175 through 3 games. Tennessee’s quarterbacks do have 3 interceptions on the season, though.

Tennessee at Oklahoma picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 31, Oklahoma 27

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s not much value here.

The Sooners as a home underdog is playable, but considering how well Tennessee has played, the better option is to take Oklahoma on the spread.

Against the spread

BET OKLAHOMA +6.5 (-105).

The Sooners have one of the best defenses in the nation and force turnovers at a high rate, and while the Volunteers have dominated, they have turned the ball over several times throughout their 3 beatdowns. Oklahoma has allowed just over 11 points per game.

It will have its work cut out for it, but it has a strong defense and will get help from a rowdy home crowd. While Tennessee has impressed, it really hasn’t played anyone as even NC State has struggled against weak opponents this season. The Vols look elite, but they haven’t proven themselves.

On the road against a top-15 side, expect things to stay close. Take OKLAHOMA +6.5 (-105).

Over/Under

BET OVER 57.5 (-110).

The Sooners have scored 34 or more in 2 games. They have a capable offense and should be able to move the ball. Oklahoma is 1-2 O/U, mainly due to its top-notch defense.

The Vols have scored 50 or more in each game and have gone Over in each. Tennessee has a dynamic, big-play offense and an elite run game. It should be able to continue to score. While it might be at the same level as in previous weeks, expect it to get on the board often.

Take OVER 57.5 (-110).
