After landing Pro Bowl pass rusher Za’Darius Smith in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings on Friday night, the Cleveland Browns have now made room for him on the roster. They have also created an additional spot on the roster as well. Cutting defensive tackle Roderick Perry II and linebacker Storey Jackson, the Browns currently sit at 89 players.

Today is the first day NFL teams are allowed to sign XFL players, and they have already hosted a couple of workouts. This includes the XFL Defensive Player of the Year, Pita Taumoepenu.

Look for another roster move to be made from the Browns soon to fill that spot.

Browns calling up DE Sam Kamara, LB Storey Jackson from practice squad vs. Steelers

The Browns have elevated two from the practice squad for their bout against the Steelers.

The Cleveland Browns are looking to fill Jadeveon Clowney’s spot at defensive end as they have downgraded him to out against the Pittsburgh Steelers after his tantrum this week. The Browns have elevated defensive end Sam Kamara from the practice squad to fill the missing defensive end spot on the roster as rookie Isaiah Thomas has been listed as out as well. Linebacker Storey Jackson has also been elevated from the practice squad for tomorrow’s Week 18 matchup.

Looking to end the season on a 5-2 run, the Browns want to play spoilers against the Steelers, who are still in the playoff hunt in the last week of the season. While these two will likely play special teams only, the Browns now have their depth for tomorrow’s matchup.

Browns fill empty roster spot left by Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, add 2 to practice squad

The Browns have filled the roster spot left by Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah

After placing linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah on Injured Reserve with a season-ending foot injury, they had a roster spot to fill. Today, they have signed fellow linebacker Jermaine Carter Jr. from their practice squad to the active roster. Carter has been a frequent player on gameday, exhausting his practice squad elevations. He now may get a chance to play some defensive reps as the Browns evaluate young talent with no playoffs to play for.

In addition, the Browns have made the Storey Jackson addition to their practice squad official, as well as adding speedy wide receiver Marquez Stevenson to their reserve unit as well.

Report: Browns signing LB Storey Jackson to their practice squad

The Browns are adding a linebacker to the practice squad

The Cleveland Browns have lost a linebacker today, as Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah has been placed on season-ending Injured Reserve. However, the Browns are adding a linebacker to their practice squad as former Liberty Flame Storey Jackson has been added to the practice squad according to The OBR’s Brad Stainbrook.

Jackson worked out for the Browns about a month ago, but no movement came of it. Now, as the team scrambles to field linebackers after four have faced season-ending injuries, Jackson finds a slot on the practice squad in Cleveland. At the current pace that the Browns are losing linebackers, Jackson may just find himself getting elevated on gameday to fill a need.

Browns bring in 6 for tryouts including Bubba Bolden, Antoine Brooks

The Browns continue on their weekly trend of holding tryouts near the end of the week. This time they brought in six players for workouts.

As the Cleveland Browns continue to prepare for a tough matchup with the Buffalo Bills in Detroit, they have brought in six players for tryouts. This has been common practice for the Browns this season, as they have seemingly held workouts consistently.

The Browns have even signed two players to their practice squad from these tryouts in safety Mike Brown and wide receiver Cyril Grayson (even though Grayson has already been released from the practice squad). This makes it worth getting to know the players the Browns have brought into Berea.

Here are the six players the Browns worked out today.

Browns working out former Cowboys LB Storey Jackson today

The Browns have brought in former Cowboys linebacker Storey Jackson for a tryout today.

The Cleveland Browns have brought a young linebacker in for a workout today. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, former Dallas Cowboys linebacker Storey Jackson was given a shot in Berea today.

A 2022 NFL Draft undrafted free agent out of Liberty University, Jackson spent this summer with the Cowboys. Jackson racked up seven sacks and 13 tackles for loss for Liberty a year ago, also knocking down three passes and intercepting one. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 224 pounds, Jackson ran a 4.68 40-yard dash at his pro day but did not test as an explosive athlete.

The Browns have signed two players to their practice squad off of tryouts already this season. Could Jackson make three?

WATCH: Pair of Dallas takeaways close the door on the 2022 preseason

The Cowboys defended their one-point lead late with a pair of takeaways to end the preseason with a victory. | From @CDBurnett7

With just over two minutes left, Seattle forced a three-and-out from the Dallas offense to give themselves a chance to retake the lead in a one-point game. After a first down incompletion, it was a disaster on second down with a fumble that bounced forward and linebacker Storey Jackson quickly recovered it to retake possession for the Cowboys.

With the preseason coming to a close, Dallas has plenty of roster decisions to make and strong showings from undrafted rookies will force them into some tough choices but they may have a strong group of practice squad players when it’s all said and done.

Storey’s takeaway secured the Cowboys’ lead but a quick three-and-out earned the Seahawks another chance to erase the 1-point Dallas lead. The following Seattle possession lasted one played, with a tipped ball that dropped into the hands of safety Juanyeh Thomas.

The Cowboys’ five takeaways secured a victory to end the preseason and the next time they take the field will be against the Buccaneers to start the regular season.
