Steelers will be without WR Diontae Johnson on Monday Night vs. Browns

The Steelers will be without one of their top weapons

The Cleveland Browns are looking to go 2-0 to start the season for the first time since 1993. Cleveland will travel to Pittsburgh for a showdown on Monday night looking to finally start another season 2-0.

It was reported already that the Steelers would be without one of the best defensive tackles in football in Cam Heyward. Now reports say the team will be without one of their best offensive weapons in wide receiver Diontae Johnson.

The Steelers’ offense struggled in their opening game against the 49ers and will now have one less option on Monday. This is going against the Browns defensive backs who locked down one of the best wide receiver groups in the NFL last week meaning it’ll be a tall take for Kenny Pickett.

This game is important for the Browns who would not only be 2-0 but also 2-0 in their division right out the gate could be huge for their playoff chances.

WATCH: Deshaun Watson connects with David Njoku to take lead vs. Steelers

The Browns have the lead!

The Cleveland Browns are looking to end their season on a 5-2 run as they close the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers. After forcing a goal line fumble in the first quarter and now scoring a touchdown, the Browns have scraped together a 7-0 lead over the Steelers. As the first half winds down, the Browns cap off a 10-play, 71-yard drive as quarterback Deshaun Watson connects with tight end David Njoku from 10 yards out.

Can the Browns get the ball back and perhaps get in the endzone again with six minutes left in the half? Stay tuned for more live updates.

Jadeveon Clowney, Jack Conklin headline 7 inactives vs. Steelers

The Browns have announced their seven inactives

As the Cleveland Browns seek to end their disappointing 2022 campaign on a high note, with a chance to spoil the playoff dreams of the Pittsburgh Steelers, they have announced their seven inactives for this afternoon’s game. The elephant in the room here is defensive end, Jadeveon Clowney, as he was sent home and ruled out after lashing out at the Browns during an interview this week. Jack Conklin has also been listed as inactive after being ruled out with an ankle injury.

Here is the full list of inactives as the Browns look to end their season on a 5-2 run.

Report: Joe Woods believed to be coaching final game as defensive coordinator

The Joe Woods era could be ending today.

The Cleveland Browns have been a bottom defense against the run all season, and even as they have improved down the stretch, someone is going to have to fall on their sword for that. During his final press conference of the season this week as well, defensive coordinator Joe Woods spoke like a man who knew his job was in severe doubt. And as the Browns get set to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, Woods could be coaching his last game in Cleveland.

According to Brad Stainbrook of The OBR, many in league circles also believe this is Woods’ last game as the defensive coordinator of the Browns. To be honest, this is long overdue as this defensive unit has far too much talent for the level of production they have put out in 2022.

Browns calling up DE Sam Kamara, LB Storey Jackson from practice squad vs. Steelers

The Browns have elevated two from the practice squad for their bout against the Steelers.

The Cleveland Browns are looking to fill Jadeveon Clowney’s spot at defensive end as they have downgraded him to out against the Pittsburgh Steelers after his tantrum this week. The Browns have elevated defensive end Sam Kamara from the practice squad to fill the missing defensive end spot on the roster as rookie Isaiah Thomas has been listed as out as well. Linebacker Storey Jackson has also been elevated from the practice squad for tomorrow’s Week 18 matchup.

Looking to end the season on a 5-2 run, the Browns want to play spoilers against the Steelers, who are still in the playoff hunt in the last week of the season. While these two will likely play special teams only, the Browns now have their depth for tomorrow’s matchup.

Who wins the season finale uniform matchup as Browns wear orange pants?

Who wins the uniform matchup between the Browns and Steelers?

The Pittsburgh Steelers have the chance to make the playoffs tomorrow as the Cleveland Browns come to town. The Browns have already made it difficult for the Baltimore Ravens to win the AFC North, eliminated the Washington Commanders from playoff contention, and now have the chance to knock out the Steelers as well.

Before we get to the matchup on the field, however, we take a look at the uniform matchup in this Week 18 divisional battle. The Browns have announced their uniform combination while we are left to play a guessing game for what the Steelers will wear (their options are limited).

Who wins the uniform battle? We take a look here.

Browns rule out Jack Conklin, Isaiah Thomas vs. Steelers

The Browns will be without two against the Steelers.

The Cleveland Browns will not only be without defensive end Jadeveon Clowney after his tantrum last night, but they will also miss right tackle Jack Conklin against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fresh off of an extension, the starting right tackle went down with an ankle injury in the win against the Washington Commanders. This is more than likely a precautionary matter for the player they have under contract for at least two more seasons. Rookie defensive end Isaiah Thomas will also miss this game in Pittsburgh.

Look for James Hudson to fill in at right tackle this Sunday, Alex Wright to man the starting defensive end position across from Myles Garrett, and for Chase Winovich to get plenty of reps off the bench as they will be thin at defensive end. Cornerback Denzel Ward has been listed as questionable.

Browns send Jadeveon Clowney home, not expected to play vs. Steelers

We’ve probably seen the last of Jadeveon Clowney in a Browns uniform.

The Cleveland Browns are left to clean up a mess after defensive end Jadeveon Clowney made destructive comments to Cleveland dot com’s Mary Kay Cabot yesterday. He should not be allowed back in the facility after those comments with just one game to go, and apparently, the Browns agree.

And now, according to Tom Withers of the Associated Press, the Browns have sent Clowney home from the facility. His status against the Pittsburgh Steelers in just two days is very much clear as he is not expected to play, according to The OBR’s Brad Stainbrook, for the Browns. We have seen the last of Clowney in brown and orange.

Opinion: Browns should end Jadeveon Clowney’s season today

Clowney’s season should end today.

As the Cleveland Browns get set to close out their disappointing 2022 campaign against the Pittsburgh Steelers, they now have a new distraction to work through. Speaking with Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland dot com, defensive end Jadeveon Clowney thought it was a wise idea to throw haymakers at his coaches, the defensive scheme, and even teammate Myles Garrett as he prepares to exit the organization at the beginning of next week.

Clowney seemed to have been lamenting his production and usage in a scheme that saw him reach heights in both sacks and quarterback hits that he had not seen since 2018. After willingly signing back up to play across from Garrett, and in the same scheme that he thrived in a year ago, Clowney’s production has plummeted. And he is seemingly pointing fingers everywhere but at himself.

The Browns should not wait until after the Steelers game. There is little shot he even dresses now after his tantrum with one game to go, and with nothing to play for in Week 18, there is no reason for Clowney to return to Berea at all.

They have two rookie pass rushers that could use the reps in Alex Wright and Isaiah Thomas. Two young players who will appreciate the reps they are getting as well. And with no playoffs to play for, the Browns would be wise to allow themselves another full game to evaluate those players.

The Browns cannot let Jadeveon Clowney dress against the Steelers and should send him home for an early vacation.

We have reached the final week of the 2022 NFL season with games only on Saturday and Sunday in Week 18. In Week 17, only 4 underdogs won their games outright, but 8 dogs covered the spread.

Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s NFL odds and lines, and tab the best NFL Week 18 underdog bets to cash in on among SportbookWire’s NFL expert picks and predictions.

Of my 3 best underdog picks last week, 2 were correct. The Denver Broncos covered the spread against the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cleveland Browns beat the Washington Commanders outright. The Tennessee Titans did not cover against the Dallas Cowboys.

With last week, my picks are 24-27 on the season.

NEW YORK JETS (+115) at Miami Dolphins – 1 p.m. (FOX)

In a battle of 2 teams with 5-game losing streaks, I like the Jets. QB Mike White starts for the Jets, but the Dolphins aren’t sure who will start for them. QB Tua Tagovailoa is still recovering from a concussion and backup QB Teddy Bridgewater hurt his finger and couldn’t throw the ball to start the week.

The Dolphins have allowed 27.4 points per game in their losing streak. But that is paired with a Jets team that has averaged only 12 in their losing streak.

Something has to give and the New York defense will take advantage of the quarterback issues for Miami.

CLEVELAND BROWNS (+120) at Pittsburgh Steelers – 1 p.m. (CBS)

The Browns have won 4 of their last 6 games and the defense has allowed only 14.0 points per game in that stretch.

The Steelers only average 17.5 points per game. They have won 3 straight and 5 of 6 but are only averaging 18.3 points per game in that stretch.

The Browns can spoil the Steelers streak of consecutive seasons without a losing record.

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS +4 (-109) Atlanta Falcons – 1 p.m. (FOX)

Tampa Bay coach Todd Bowles is not planning on resting his starters although they could get pulled early. They have the No. 4 seed locked up but need to play better before the playoffs start and likely don’t want to end the regular season with a losing record.

The Falcons have only 2 wins in their last 8 games and those 2 wins came against a 3-win Chicago Bears team and a 4-win Arizona Cardinals team. They beat the Cardinals 20-19 last week on a last-second field goal and have not won a game by more than 3 points since Week 6.
