Steve Sarkisian calls Ames the “scene of the crime”

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian reflects on the embarrassing Iowa State loss in 2021.

When speaking with the media on Thursday, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian discussed injuries, sign-stealing, and even alluded to an event that occurred during his first year at the helm.

On Nov. 6th, 2021, the Longhorns traveled to Ames, Iowa, to take on the Iowa State Cyclones. The first-year head coach had Texas on a three-game losing streak and sitting with a 4-4 overall record.

The Longhorns lost embarrassingly to Iowa State that day, 30-7. After the game, a rant from one of Texas’ assistant coaches was recorded on the bus and posted to social media.

Fans quickly realized the viral and passionate rant was from defensive line coach Bo Davis. Sarkisian now looks back at that moment as one that shaped the culture of Texas’ football program.

Since the 2021 Iowa State game, Sarkisian has led the Longhorns to a record of 18-6, including four victories over ranked opponents. The most significant win was a double-digit victory over Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

What took place in Ames, Iowa, after the loss has done wonders for the Texas program. The Longhorns will look for closure on Saturday when they play the Cyclones for the final time at 7:00 p.m. CT.

Texas Football: Health update ahead of Saturday’s matchup

Steve Sarkisian provides an update on several players for Saturday’s game.

The Texas Longhorns could be closer to full strength outside of the quarterback position this week. Several once injured Longhorns are set to play against BYU.

On Thursday, head football coach Steve Sarkisian gave us an update on a few questionable players. According to Sarkisian, the following will all be available: Alfred Collins, Gavin Holmes, Terrance Brooks, Ryan Watts, Cole Hutson, and Jett Bush.

It will be crucial for the secondary to have Holmes, Brooks, and Watts when No. 7 Texas faces BYU on Saturday. The trio needs to step up their game to avoid a repeat of last week’s disappointing defensive performance in the latter half of the game.

It is unclear why defensive back Jahdae Barron missed some of the game against Houston last week. There has been no update on his status from Sark, but it is anticipated that he will play and be on the field.

The No. 7 Texas Longhorns will host the BYU Cougars on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT.

Texas Football: What Steve Sarkisian said in Monday’s press conference

The team’s goals are still intact.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian spoke with the media as he usually does on Monday. Following another gut-wrenching loss, Sarkisian faced the music and answered questions from Texas media.

Sarkisian owned up to the performance and issued an apology to the fanbase for allowing the loss to distract from singing The Eyes of Texas after the game. The second-year head coach was reflective and shared some of his introspection with the public.

Among the takeaways, Sarkisian noted that he should have ran the ball more. Bijan Robinson and Roschon Johnson experienced early success, but seemed to have stalled in the second half.

The Longhorns will have a significant opportunity for growth this week. Both the players and coaching staff stand to improve following the loss.

With the team’s goals still ahead of them, here’s what Steve Sarkisian had to say to the media.

Dose of Hope: Texas HC Steve Sarkisian’s quotes indicate competency

It appears Steve Sarkisian’s staff is fixing the Longhorns’ most glaring issues.

Texas had very fixable issues in the aftermath of the Texas Tech loss. It appears Steve Sarkisian and his staff are working to eliminate those problems.

Texas Tech picked the Longhorns apart with short yardage passes last week, a recurring theme of the Sarkisian era. The theme was most visible on third and fourth down conversions, where Texas allowed Tech free passes to the first down marker. The problem is being addressed this week.

The Texas head coach discussed the extra work the team is putting in on money downs for both sides of the football, among other things. Sarkisian’s confidence also shined through in his media availability on Thursday. He appeared assured that the team is prepared for West Virginia this week.

Here are a few of his quotes from Thursday’s media availability.

Everything Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian after the first day of early signing period

Sarkisian touched on a variety of topics, including the current quarterback situation.

The early signing period was absolute mayhem on Wednesday, and Texas actually held up extremely well.

The Longhorns signed almost all of their commits outside of a couple who seemed to be the odd man out of a very loaded, and more importantly, full class. Texas was also on the right side of a few flips as well from players committed to schools like Ohio State, Michigan, and Oklahoma.

Steve Sarkisian has to be pleased with his first full class as the Texas head coach, as he was able to address the needs of the team in a major way, attacking both sides of the line and bringing in a very impressive haul at each.

In total, the Longhorns brought in 14 players in the trenches with six on the offensive line and eight on the defensive line. Texas also was able to add the top ranked transfer quarterback in Quinn Ewers, who is believed to be the guy that can turn the program around.

Sarkisian addressed the media on Wednesday to talk about about the class that ranks No. 5 in the country. Here are some of his most interesting statements.

Four of Steve Sarkisian’s most honest statements from Monday

Steve Sarkisian was not holding back…

If you would have told anyone at the beginning of the year that Texas would lose five games in a row, with one of them being to Kansas, they would think you are crazy.

However, that’s reality for the Texas football program right now, and it seems as if fans and even those within the program are already looking forward to next season. Texas has been on the wrong end on a lot of bad plays throughout this losing streak, but they’ve also been a play or two away from pulling off impressive wins.

First-year head coach Steve Sarkisian addressed the media on Monday, and while he is usually very uplifting and positive, he seemed to have a no nonsense vibe to him and was not holing back. He seems to be fed up with some of the players remaining from the Tom Herman era, and will have no remorse or issue when they move on.

Here are a few of his most interesting statements he made to the media in regards to the program.
