Gators offer class of 2025 EDGE that could reclassify

From Cameroon to Canada to the Swamp? International edge rusher Steve Mboumoua wrapped up his first trip to Gainesville with a scholarship offer.

The Florida Gators were the very last team to get Canadian edge rusher [autotag]Steve Mboumoua[/autotag] on his recent college tour, according to Swamp247’s Blake Alderman.

Mboumoua, a native of Cameroon that moved to Canada before high school, is already 19 but is academically a rising junior. He’s in the process of reclassifying to get to campus a year early, but he’s still just beginning his recruiting process.

“I am 2025, but looking for 2024 now,” he said. “Moving from 2025 to 2024. It would be too long to go back and play two more seasons. Waste of time. I am done in January.”

Mboumoua has collected offers from Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Penn State and Texas A&M among others, so the competition will be fierce for his services at JACK linebacker. The Gators offered him on Saturday after the Grill in the Ville cookout.

A combination of speed and size makes him an intriguing edge prospect. Mboumoua is 6-foot-four inches tall and 260 pounds.

The coaching made a strong first impression on Mboumoua, but he doesn’t have a top five or anything to give out just yet. Securing an official visit during the season is the natural next step in the process if he’s going to reclassify.

ESPN gives Mboumoua a four-star grade and ranks him No. 210 overall in the class of 2025.
