Three Georgia Bulldogs have earned SEC player of the week honors for their performances against the Tennessee Volunteers.

Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett was named co-offensive player of the week with LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels. Bennett scored three touchdowns and threw for 257 passing yards in Georgia’s 27-13 win over No. 1 Tennessee (CFP ranking).

Georgia freshman standout Malaki Starks continues to impress. Starks was named the conference’s co-freshman of the week with LSU’s hero against Alabama, Mason Taylor.

Starks recorded 10 tackles against Tennessee. He was frequently forced to make one-on-one tackles and dominated in man coverage. Starks may be the top freshman in the country. He is constantly around the football.

Lastly, Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter was named the SEC’s defensive lineman of the week. Carter frequently pressured Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker from the interior. Carter finished with a sack and two forced fumbles.

How Bo Nix’s 5-TD performance compared to other Heisman contenders in Week 10

With another 5-touchdown game on Saturday, Bo Nix is gaining ground on the rest of the Heisman Trophy contenders.

It was another productive day for Bo Nix and the Oregon Ducks on Saturday.

Not only did the team win big against the Colorado Buffaloes, 49-10, but Nix was also able to strengthen his Heisman Trophy resume in a major way, adding 5 more touchdowns to his season total, two of which came on the ground, and one of which he got in the receiving game.

At this point in the year, Nix’s Heisman case is growing incredibly strong. He’s been playing at a high enough level for long enough that even the biggest doubters are growing unable to ignore the success. If the Ducks continue to win, expect Nix’s name to continue to generate buzz.

While this run continues, we want to take a chance every week to look in and see how Nix’s performance compared to other Heisman candidates across the nation. Here’s how the Oregon QB fared this week in comparison to the rest:

Stetson Bennett takes out pylon camera on TD run for Georgia

Stetson Bennett’s legs have Georgia on the scoreboard with a 13-yard TD run

The SEC clash between Tennessee and Georgia already is shaping up as a thriller early in the first quarter.

The Vols took advantage of a turnover to get on the board first via a field goal.

The Bulldogs countered and Stetson Bennett showed he is one tough QB as he headed toward the end zone.

The 13-yard run was ruled a touchdown after review and following the Georgia QB taking out the pylon cam.

Fasten your seatbelts.

Georgia’s five most important players against Tennessee

Who are Georgia’s five most important players for the Tennessee game?

The Georgia Bulldogs host the Tennessee Volunteers in one of the top college football games in recent memory. Both SEC East teams are undefeated and in the mix to make the College Football Playoff.

Who are Georgia’s five most important players for the Tennessee game? The Bulldogs need a lot of players to step up to beat Hendon Hooker and the Tennessee Volunteers.

Which SEC quarterbacks are the best in each category?

We broke down each quarterback in the SEC in 12 different categories. Who reigns supreme?

In today’s game, it is all about the quarterbacks. Without a top-notch quarterback at the collegiate level, it is hard to compete at a high level. Not impossible but when you get into a precarious situation, it is usually the quarterback’s play that can be the difference in a win or a loss.

The SEC is now different. A conference once known for its punishing defenses and running game has moved towards the vertical game of attacking defenses through the air. Current LSU starter [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] is enjoying a career year after transferring from Arizona State.

Over the years we have seen gunslingers such as Joe Burrow, Mac Jones, Tua Tagovailoa, and Bryce Young rip apart defenses and give defensive coordinators fits on gameday.

Ranking SEC quarterbacks after Week 7: A new No. 1 emerges

SEC QB rankings after Week 7

There’s plenty of movement in my SEC quarterback rankings following a thrilling Week 7 of college football.

For starters, Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker made a big leap after taking down Bryce Young and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Will Levis returned for Kentucky in a winning effort against Will Rogers and Mississippi State. As did Arkansas‘ KJ Jefferson, who led his team to a win over BYU and put up fantastic numbers. Georgia’s Stetson Bennett had his best game in a few weeks in a win over Vandy. Meanwhile, LSU’s Jayden Daniels continues to impress after accounting for six touchdowns against Anthony Richardson and the Florida Gators. Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart keeps performing well and had a nice showing in a win over Auburn.

Updated Heisman Trophy rankings after Week 7 of college football

Heisman Trophy rankings after Week 7

In most cases, the Heisman Trophy is a quarterback’s award. Alabama quarterback Bryce Young looks to repeat in 2022, but he has stiff competition from Ohio State’s CJ Stroud and Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker, who just took down Young and the Tide in Knoxville. There’s also UCLA’s Dorian Thompson-Robinson and, despite losing to Utah, USC’s Caleb Williams is still in the hunt.

But let’s not forget about Michigan running back Blake Corum, who has been on an absolute tear over the last five games. He just posted 166 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Penn State. Also finding his way into the rankings is Tennessee wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, who had a five touchdown performance on Saturday.

I also wanted to highlight some guys you’ve maybe never heard of but are top-five nationally in key stats: running backs Israel Abanikanda (Pitt) and Chase Brown (Illinois), and receivers Ali Jennings (ODU) and Keylon Stokes (Tulsa). There are also defenders putting up really nice sack numbers; I included them as well.

Stetson Bennett shoulder ‘dinged up’ but QB not limited, per Kirby Smart

Stetson’s shoulder “dinged up” but the QB is not limited, says Kirby Smart.

Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart met with the media on Monday and discussed quarterback Stetson Bennett and the shoulder of the sixth-year senior.

Smart said Bennett’s shoulder got “dinged up” during the Missouri game in Week 5 but there’s no reason for concern as Bennett has not had any limitations.

“Stetson has been good,” Smart said. “He’s been dinged up after the Missouri game. His shoulder was bothering him but there hasn’t been a lot of limitation there.”

In a 42-10 win over Auburn, Bennett threw for 208 yards on 22 of 32 passing. He also added a 64-yard rushing touchdown.

“There hasn’t been a lot of limitation, he hasn’t missed any practice time or anything like that.”

Ranking SEC quarterbacks after Week 5: New No. 1 as Stetson Bennett slides

Stetson Bennett slides in our latest SEC QB rankings

Following an exciting Week 5 in the Southeastern Conference, I have plenty of movement in my updated SEC quarterback rankings.

For starters, Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett is no longer my top passer in the conference after another subpar showing. In fact, he’s not even my No. 2. That means Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, who is day-to-day after hurting his shoulder against Arkansas, moves up along with Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker.

Mississippi State’s Will Rogers rises after another big game. He ranks No. 3 in the Football Bowl Subdivision in passing yards and No. 1 in passing touchdowns. Kentucky’s Will Levis did himself no favors with a bad game against Ole Miss, and KJ Jefferson’s ranking took a hit after an inefficient outing against ‘Bama.
