Eagles vs. Panthers Week 5: Carolina acquires CB Stephon Gilmore in trade with Patriots

He’ll remain on the PUP list since he was traded, but Stephon Gilmore is a member of the Carolina Panthers after being traded from the New England Patriots

The Eagles will face the Carolina Panthers in Week 5, and they’ll have a high-profile cornerback on the sidelines.

After discussions about a potential release, Stephon Gilmore has been traded from the Patriots to the Panthers.

The Patriots landed a 2023 sixth-round pick for Gilmore just hours before they were set to release the All-Pro and former NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Gilmore has been on the PUP list with a quad injury and had he been released outright, he could have been a participant on Sunday afternoon. For now, Gilmore will be out until at least Week 6.

Best remaining players to complete Cardinals’ 2021 roster

After a solid wave of talent in the NFL Draft, the Cardinals are still looking to upgrade their roster in the league’s top division.

The highly anticipated NFL Draft is behind us with the Arizona Cardinals having added many quality players at positions of need. Still, for the team to reach their postseason goals, there are some remaining holes on the roster.

As of right now, the Cards have around $15 million in cap space to use before draft pick signings. They still have contracts to redo or terminate, such as those of receiver Andy Isabella and linebacker Devon Kennard. There is money to work with, particularly at a (hopefully) discounted free agent class this late into the offseason.

Here are some of the top options at Arizona’s on-paper positions of need that could be available this summer.

4 potential trade deadline moves for the Cardinals

With the trade deadline approaching, the Cardinals could be in the mix for some high-profile players.

The NFL trade deadline is upon us — a time where struggling teams ship off pricy veterans and contending teams look to find that missing piece for a championship run.

The Arizona Cardinals have already made a trade, acquiring OLB Markus Golden from the New York Giants. Golden’s return to the valley has been welcomed with open arms by the fanbase. His presence should bolster a Cardinal defense that is already seventh in the NFL in sacks.

The Cardinals, however, may not be done acquiring talent. Our own Chuck Harris reported the Cardinals may be looking into a big name trade prior to the deadline.

I don’t have the Cardinals giving up their first-round pick in any of these trades given their circumstances of each player, as well as their evident need for cheap talent next year.

So, what players make sense for the Cardinals to bolster their playoff hopes?
