Steelers get late update on George Pickens injury

The Steelers could have George Pickens back for the Chiefs game on Christmas.

On the Pittsburgh Steelers game status report for this week’s game, wide receiver George Pickens was ruled out for the Saturday showdown against the Baltimore Ravens. But according to NFL reporter Albert Breer, the team is hopeful that Pickens sitting this week means he will be ready to go on Christmas against the Kansas City Chiefs.

“He is running and he did make an effort to try and get the doctors to clear him,” Breer said. “Ultimately, didn’t happen. He won’t play, but they’re optimistic that he’ll be able to go on Christmas Day against the Chiefs.”

Not having Pickens in the lineup is a huge shot to the Steelers offense. The Steelers have a chance to wrap up the AFC North if they can beat the Ravens but with this injury, it’ll be a tall order on the road.

Steelers QB misses Tuesday practice with injury

Justin Fields suffered an abdominal injury in Sunday’s loss.

On Sunday, Pittsburgh Steelers backup quarterback only came in for a single play against the Philadelphia Eagles. That one play was a nice eight-yard rush made even better by a 15-yard penalty for a late hit.

Unfortunately, on that play, Fields suffered an abdominal injury that didn’t allow him to return to the game. That same abdominal injury kept him out of practice on Tuesday as the team begins preparations to take on the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday.

If Fields cannot go on Saturday, the situation is two-fold. First, the Steelers lose that element of Fields running the football in his speciality packages that have worked in very limited use since Russell Wilson took over as the starting quarterback.

In addition, if Fields cannot go, it would make Kyle Allen the backup and be just one play away from being the starter in the most important game of the season for the Steelers. If Pittsburgh can beat the Ravens this week, they will clinch the AFC North title.

Steelers injury updates: 4 Steelers limited at practice on Thursday

Alex Highsmith returned to practice on Thursday.

It might be Thanksgiving but it’s not a day off for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team practiced on Thursday in preparation for their AFC North showdown this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The good news is that starting outside linebacker Alex Highsmith returned to practice on a limited basis. This is the first time Highsmith has been able to practice this week and offers some hope he could return for this week’s game.

Three other Steelers were limited with injuries. Defensive tackle Keeanu Benton has a hip injury, cornerback Cory Trice Jr. is still dealing with a hamstring and nose tackle Montravius Adams was limited with a knee.

In addition and not on the team’s report was safety Damontae Kazee who missed Thursday’s practice with an illness. The team also had multiple players with NIR vet days off including Cam Heyward.

Steelers injury update: Defensive starter still out of Wednesday practice

The Steelers could use Alex Highsmith back in the lineup this week.

The Pittsburgh Steelers looked to be getting healthy ahead of this week’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Defensive tackle Montravius Adams returned to practice this week which opened up his 21-day window to come off IR. On Wednesday, Adams was a full participant which is a great sign for him potentially playing this week.

But one defensive starter who missed practice again on Wednesday was outside linebacker Alex Highsmith. Highsmith is dealing with an ankle injury that kept him out of the last two games. This is in addition to the three games Highsmith missed earlier in the season.

The Steelers could really use Highsmith back for the team’s stretch run of the final six games. The pass rush has been inconsistent all season, even when Highsmith was in the lineup but it’s all hands on deck down the stretch against some of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

The only other two Steelers with injury designations on Wednesday were Cory Trice and the aforementioned Adams. Both were full participants at practice.

Steelers injury updates: RB Jaylen Warren expected to play vs Ravens

Jaylen Warren is listed as questionable but expected to play vs the Ravens.

Despite being unable to practice much at all this past week, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren could play on Sunday versus the Baltimore Ravens. This is according to ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter.

Warren appeared on the practice report on Thursday with a back injury that forced him to miss practice on Thursday and was limited on Friday. This is in addition to starting running back Najee Harris who dealt with an ankle injury all week but has no injury designation for this week’s game.

The Steelers are averaging 138.3 rushing yards per game. This is good enough for No. 8 in the league. The run game has taken off since Russell Wilson took over the starting quarterback job.

Will Jaylen Warren play this week? Injury updates for Steelers RB

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren is dealing with a back injury. Here are the latest updates.

A few new names, including running back Jaylen Warren, popped up on Pittsburgh Steelers injury report on Thursday that could impact their critical brawl with the Baltimore Ravens.

Warren, 26, is coming off his best game of the year in Pittsburgh’s win over the Washington Commanders with 14 carries for 66 yards and a pair of receptions for 29 yards. Unfortunately, he had what was a tone-changing fumble at the goal line.

A knee injury sidelined Warren for two games earlier this season. We’ll see if he can practice tomorrow; otherwise, his status for the critical brawl with Baltimore will be in jeopardy.

Jaylen Warren injury update

Warren was a full participant on Wednesday, so his addition is something to monitor. Najee Harris (ankle), who did not practice on Wednesday, returned to full participation on Thursday.

How long will Jaylen Warren be out?

Back injuries are no joke and, depending on severity, could be a concern. Given the injury is new, no official information is available on how long Warren could be out.

Steelers running back depth chart

Warren is second on Pittsburgh’s depth chart, and should he be sidelined, those duties would fall to Cordarrelle Patterson. The Steelers will likely elevate one of two practice squad backs, Aaron Shampklin or Jonathan Ward.

Steelers injury update: Nick Herbig’s status still in question

Steelers EDGE Nick Herbig was limited at Thursday practice.

On Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers made a trade with the Green Bay Packers, landing outside linebacker Preston Smith. Pittsburgh might need Smith to get on the field Sunday against the Washington Commanders as part of the team’s pass-rushing rotation.

The reason is that on Thursday, outside linebacker Nick Herbig was still limited at practice.  Herbig continues to work his way back from a hamstring injury that’s kept him out of the team’s last three games. Herbig got two starts in place of an injured Alex Highsmith and was well on his way to a breakout season.

If Herbig isn’t ready to go, we could see a heavy dose of Smith who joined the team on Tuesday. Pittsburgh is also without Demarvin Leal who was placed on IR. The Steelers take on the 7-2 Washington Commanders on Sunday.

Steelers injury update: QB pops up on Saturday injury report

Justin Fields is now questionable for Monday’s game with a hamstring injury.

On the Fox pregame show, NFL reporter Jay Glazer says he spoke to Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and he’s got an injured quarterback on his hands.

According to Glazer, Justin Fields tweaked his hamstring and is now questionable for Monday night’s game against the New York Giants. If Fields cannot go, Kyle Allen will serve as the team’s No. 2 quarterback behind Russell Wilson.

According to Glazer, the Steelers have some packages in place for Fields but it seems highly unlikely he will see the field even if he is active on Monday night.

Steelers injury updates: 2 key Steelers lost in win vs Jets

Donte Jackson and Montravius Adams were both injured in Sunday’s win.

After the Pittsburgh Steelers 37-15 win over the New York Jets, head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media about the win and offered a brief update on the injuries that occurred. He noted several players had what Tomlin likes to call bumps and bruises associated with play and lost noted two more significant injuries.

Tomlin followed up on cornerback Donte Jackson and defensive tackle Montravius Adams. Tomlin said Jackson had a shoulder injury and was unable to return and Adams suffered a knee injury and missed the remainder of the game.

Jackson’s absence opened the door for James Pierre and the Jets took advantage of the mismatch. For Adams, the Jets made a strong effort to run the ball without the backup nose tackle in the rotation but the rest of the defense stepped up to fill in the gaps.

Tomlin will offer an update at his usual Tuesday press conference when the team begins preparations to take on the New York Giants.

Steelers injury updates: Rookie added to Thursday report with hamstring injury

The Steelers got Alex Highsmith back at practice on Thursday.

Highsmith has missed the last three games with a groin injury but his return cannot come soon enough after Nick Herbig injured his hamstring filling in for him.
