Texas guard Tyrese Hunter jumps from near the free throw line in dunk

Tyrese Hunter caught serious air in this dunk.

Tyrese Hunter caught flight on Saturday. The Texas Longhorns guard took off for one of the more impressive highlight dunks for the 2024 basketball season.

Hunter might not have been known for his dunk hang-time, but perhaps he will moving forward. After getting a steal to change possession, the Texas guard beelined toward the basket ahead of the West Virginia transition defense. After getting just inside the free throw line, Hunter took flight for a long jump to the basket before slamming it home.

The veteran player has had his ups and downs at Texas, but continues to show up and give a quality effort. His last game saw Hunter go 0-for-8 against the Iowa State program from which he transferred to Texas. The dunk had to provide some level of outlet for his frustration.

The Longhorns have plenty of work to do as the season nears the finish line, but plays like this particular highlight indicate the talent is present. The team will look to close toward an NCAA Tournament bid with a strong finish to the season.

WATCH: Texas A&M guard Manny Obaseki’s rim-rattling dunk featured on SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays

Standing at a towering 7-feet tall, Kentucky sophomore forward Ugonna Onyenso isn’t often challenged in the paint but Texas A&M junior guard Manny Obaseki simply did not care.

Standing at a towering 7-feet tall, Kentucky sophomore forward Ugonna Onyenso isn’t often challenged in the paint but Texas A&M junior guard Manny Obaseki simply did not care.

Leading 23-18 with just under 12 minutes to play in the first half Saturday at Reed Arena against the Wildcats, Obaseki crossed over, drove into the paint and went up for a rim-rattling dunk. The only problem was, that Onyenso was in his way.

That ultimately didn’t matter as Obaseki skied over the sophomore and slammed the dunk on his head. As the great play-by-play broadcaster Kevin Harlan once said, Obaseki threw down the dunk “with no regard for human life!”

As noted by the Texas A&M men’s basketball account on X, it wasn’t a matter of if but where the junior high flyer’s throwdown would be featured in ESPN‘s Top 10 plays. On Saturday night, Obaseki earned the No. 6 spot in SportsCenter’s daily segment.

The Aggies pulled off the upset 97-92 in overtime to earn their first SEC victory of the season. With plays like Obaseki displayed this weekend, many more wins are on the way to College Station soon.

SportsCenter Top 10? Check out the best football play you will see this weekend

Check out this SportsCenter Top 10 worthy play from Chris McLaughlin of Harrison.

Turn off the television and go outside because the best play of the weekend already has happened. Unless, of course, it is to watch this tremendous highlight play on ESPN SportsCenter Top 10 later tonight.

In a game coming out of the Lower Hudson Valley (Section 1 A-League A to be exact), Harrison defensive back Chris McLaughlin provided a jaw-droppingly good play.

The 85-yard interception return for the touchdown saw McLaughlin break four tackles and weave his way through the Rye team. After finding little space while attempting a vertical run following his leaping interception, McLaughlin begins to break tackle after tackle before turning on the jets to run the final 67 yards untouched for the touchdown.

It was some impressive athleticism from McLaughlin, a class of 2024 player who lines up as a defensive back, wide receiver and running back for Harrison.

McLaughlin certainly has an impressive resume. Named all-state last year, he has twice been selected to both the all-league and all-section.

He also runs a reported 4.49 time in the 40.

WATCH: Aggie soccer’s Kenna Caldwell makes SportsCenter Top 10 with incredible goal

Texas A&M soccer’s Kenna Caldwell had a rare goal and shutout combination that landed on SportsCenter’s Top 10 plays of the night.

Texas A&M soccer is giving Lionel Messi a run for his money regarding reality-defying goals. In case you missed it, goalkeeper Kenna Caldwell drilled a spectacular free kick from midfield to give the Aggies a 2-0 shutout win over Tulsa. Caldwell was named Player of the Match as Texas A&M moved to 1-2-1 in the early season.

Caldwell’s rare combination of a goal and shutout not only garnered attention from Aggie fans, rather it received acclaim from none other than the worldwide leader in sports. As is custom in the sports landscape, whenever you witness a spectacular feat from an athlete, it begs the question, “Will it make it on SportsCenter?”

Aggies fans have their answer as Caldwell’s spectacular goal landed in SportsCenter’s Top 10 of the night. As Texas A&M social aptly noted, Caldwell may rock the No. “0” on the pitch, but she’s No. 6 when it comes to SportsCenter’s greatest plays of the night:

Texas A&M remains undefeated against Tulsa with a 5-0-0 advantage in their all-time series. Next up for the Aggies is a matchup with the TCU Horned Frogs on Sunday, Sep. 3. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m. CT from Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.
