South Carolina’s quarterback commitment took what appeared to be a shot at Clemson while making a pitch to fellow prospects about why they should jump on board with the Gamecocks.

The Loomis Chaffee School (Windsor, Conn.) four-star quarterback Dante Reno, who committed to South Carolina in early July, says “South Carolina is a place where they have been at the top before,” and he mentioned “getting back to that point” in his pitch.

Reno also said the Gamecocks have “the best fan base in the country,” adding that “South Carolina, it’s the place down there,” and “it’s not Clemson, it’s not any other school — it’s South Carolina.”

ā€œMy pitch, itā€™s kind of normal, itā€™s kind of real,” Reno said, via The Spurs Up Show. “Itā€™s the same pitch the staff gave me. South Carolina is a place where they have been at the top before. They havenā€™t been there in a little bit, but just being able to get back to thatā€¦ and obviously the fans, you guys all want them to be back at the top. We have the best fan base in the country, and you can see that on Twitter, in their game days and all that stuff. So, just getting back to that point.

“And obviously South Carolina, itā€™s the place down there. Itā€™s not Clemson, itā€™s not any other school ā€“ itā€™s South Carolina. Thereā€™s no pro team, so just that fan base, that love that youā€™re going to get at South Carolina, especially with the top-five facilities, Williams-Brice Stadium and all that stuffā€™s just adding on to it. But just being able to play with a new staff, a young staff thatā€™s going to be there too. Coach Beamerā€™s not going anywhere, which is another huge thing that I think recruits need to look more into nowadays.”

Reno camped at Clemson this summer but doesn’t have an offer from the Tigers. He is the No. 17 quarterback and No. 246 overall prospect in the 2024 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

4-star DB Emory Floyd commits to South Carolina

Four-star safety Emory Floyd has committed to South Carolina over Georgia and Auburn. Gamecocks are on a recruiting surge after a brutal class of 2021.

Four-star safety recruit Emory Floyd has committed to the South Carolina Gamecocks over schools like Georgia and Auburn. Floyd is a rising senior in high school at Hillgrove High School in Powder Springs, Georgia.

Th 6-foot-1, 165-pound safety is the latest player to commit to the Gamecocks. The class of 2022 product has excellent speed and runs track for his high school. Floyd has run 10.5 seconds in the 100-meter race, which would make him one of the fastest players on South Carolina’s roster.

The four-star safety had been on Kirby Smart’s radar since the University of Georgia offered Floyd back in Sept. 2020. Georgia was considered one of the top contenders for Floyd, but Auburn and South Carolina eventually became the leaders for the Hillgrove standout.

Emory Floyd announced his commitment to South Carolina via his Twitter account:

Emory Floyd ranks as the No. 24 safety in the class of 2022 and the No. 355 prospect overall.

The Gamecocks have been on a recruiting surge recently under new head coach Shane Beamer. South Carolina is looking to return to the level of talent they had in the early 2010s.

Overall, South Carolina has the No. 21-ranked recruiting class of 2022 in the country. The Gamecocks have 14 commitments including verbal commitments from three four-star prospects. Overall, Shane Beamer and company have nine commitments in the past three weeks.

Recruits are loving the Gamecock’s recently upgraded facilities. Still, it is not all good news for South Carolina. The Gamecocks had an extremely weak class of 2021, where they added the No. 80-rated recruiting class in the country.

Recruiting well in the offseason does not always translate as Tennessee fans know from last year. South Carolina must put together a solid season in order to keep some of their top commitments. This month is a step in the right direction for the Gamecocks.

Social media celebrates: UGA football lands commitment from 4-star DT

The Georgia Bulldogs football program added a commitment from Gaffney, South Carolina defensive tackle Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins

Ingram-Dawkins is in the class of 2021 and plays football at Gaffney High School. Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins was also contemplating UNC and Tennessee, but put the Dawgs and Gamecocks in his final two.

This commitment hurts for South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Will Muschamp. South Carolina lost the best recruit in its state to an SEC East rival and has a weak overall recruiting class.

Ingram-Dawkins joins Marlin Dean as the two defensive tackle commitments for the Bulldogs in the class of 2021. Here’s how Georgia Bulldogs football Twitter reacted to the commitment from Ingram-Dawkins:

Georgia football offers elite DB Jahlil Hurley

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to defensive back Jahlil Hurley, who plays high school football for Florence.

[jwplayer YpV1igwW]

The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to defensive back Jahlil Hurley very early in the recruiting process. Hurley is a member of the class of 2023, so he’s only a sophomore in high school. Kirby Smart and the University of Georgia aren’t afraid to offer players who are quite young.

Hurley stars for Florence High School in Florence, Alabama. He possesses rare length at the cornerback position at six-foot-three. Based on early interest from some of college football’s top programs, Hurley will be a three or four-star recruit one day.

The lengthy defensive back showcased his ball skills on this interception:
