Broncos tweet perfect GIF after A.J. Bouye trade

The Broncos tweeted a fitting GIF after the team agreed to trade for Jaguars cornerback A.J. Bouye.

The Denver Broncos have agreed to trade a fourth-round draft pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for cornerback A.J. Bouye. Although both teams have agreed to the deal, the trade will not become official until the new league year begins on March 18.

Because the trade is not yet official, the Broncos won’t publicly comment on it. Denver’s social media team came up with a creative way to celebrate the trade without officially announcing it.

Denver traded the fourth-round pick it acquired from the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders last year. The Broncos still have their own fourth-round pick are projected to have a total of 11 picks this year.

Bouye will cost Denver about $13.5 million in each of the next two seasons. After acquiring the 28-year-old CB, the Broncos will be down to about $56.5 million in 2020 salary cap space. That total could increase to $65.5 million if the team cuts quarterback Joe Flacco as expected.

As many fans and pundits noted on Twitter, it will be interesting to see how Denver moves forward with pending free agent Chris Harris. There’s still a chance that Harris will re-sign with the Broncos, but that’s beginning to seem less likely after the team acquired Bouye.

Since launching a TikTok account in July 2019, Benny The Bull has been on the forefront of the platform. The account’s more than two million followers outnumber any North American professional sports team, as well as the main accounts for UFC, MLB and the NHL. Looking to take advantage of that popularity, the Chicago Bulls have become the first professional team to release branded content on TikTok. Partnering with Chicago-based BMO Harris Bank, the Bulls engaged in choreographing and creating dance challenges for fans to participate. It also produced and created original audio and music for each post. On the music side, the Bulls worked with Hawaii-based group Young Black Kings to develop and produce original songs for the branded content series.

Garth Brooks fans confused his Barry Sanders jersey with a Bernie Sanders jersey, and lost it on him

People got confused by a “SANDERS 20” shirt and got very, very mad at Garth Brooks.

We live in a time where everything feels immediate and of the now. We are bombarded with news 24/7, and feel like we must instantly have an opinion on whatever is trending the latest.

So you can perhaps forgive fans of Garth Brooks who were astounded when he posted a photo of him wearing a jersey that said “SANDERS 20” on the back for a Detroit show. See: There is a man named Bernie Sanders who is running for president in 2020.

There is also the most famous football player in Detroit Lions history, Barry Sanders, who wore the number 20. One half second of thought should probably tell these people that Brooks wasn’t using his Detroit concert to offer an endorsement in the 2020 election, but instead just wearing a Barry Sanders jersey.

Some people did not give this a half second of thought. They lost it on Brooks, swearing him off for a presidential endorsement he almost certainly was not making.

Here’s the post:

And here are some of the comments from Instagram.

(Apparently Facebook had plenty as well.)

Anyway, people should look up Barry Sanders highlights. He was very good at football.

Hau’oli Kikaha clarifies why he stepped away from XFL, says he isn’t finished yet

Ex-New Orleans Saints draft pick Hau’oli Kikaha retired from the XFL despite a great start with the Dallas Renegades, but he has good reason

[jwplayer LcMQLssi-ThvAeFxT]

Former New Orleans Saints starting linebacker Hau’oli Kikaha made a surprising decision on Tuesday, when the XFL’s Dallas Renegades announced that he was cutting his season short and entering retirement. But Kikaha later explained from his official Instagram account that he isn’t viewing his decision to part from football as the final chapter; he says that, “I have some very personal family issues that need my attention right now,” which draws higher importance than continuing his playing career. Still, he’s optimistic that he’ll get another opportunity to sack quarterbacks someday.

And that makes more sense for Kikaha than suddenly calling it quits after just three games. He worked hard to try out for NFL teams before taking a crack at the upstart XFL, and was an integral piece of the Renegades defense — in just the last two weeks, Kikaha made highlight reel-worthy plays with a stripped fumble and a big sack in back-to-back wins.

He’s a big-time player (who still ranks first in the Washington Huskies record books with 36 career sacks) that the Saints once drafted in the second round, and who the Renegades also picked highly. It’s just a shame that a series of injuries (including three torn ACL’s) cut down his career on football’s biggest stage. Here’s hoping everything levels out for Kikaha personally, and that he’ll be able to get back to what he does best.

Vic Fangio, Phillip Lindsay and John Elway attended CU basketball game Thursday

Broncos coach Vic Fangio went to a college basketball game with running back Phillip Lindsay on Thursday evening.

Broncos coach Vic Fangio, general manager John Elway and running back Phillip Lindsay were in attendance when the Colorado Buffaloes defeated the USC Trojans 70-66 in a college basketball game at the Coors Events Center on Thursday evening.

Fangio had a busy day leading up to the game.

Broncos fans loved seeing the coach and player attend the game together.

“I don’t think I’ve ever seen a picture of a head coach and player at a non-football event together,” one fan commented on Instagram. “This is great!”

“This is wholesome,” another fan commented on Instagram.

Lindsay played running back for the Buffaloes from 2014-2017 before signing with Denver as a college free agent in 2018. After rushing for more than 1,000 yards in his first season, Lindsay became the first offensive undrafted rookie to make the Pro Bowl.

Lindsay topped 1,000 yards again in 2019 and he has now totaled 2,485 yards from scrimmage and 17 touchdowns in two years in the NFL.

In June 2015, Lucas Hann created a Twitter account—@ClipsNationSBN—so that he could better engage with people reading his work; previously, his blog posts were being posted on Twitter through the now-former site manager’s personal Twitter account. (VICE reviewed the Twitter confirmation email from when Hann created the account.) In August 2015, SB Nation offered Hann a meager monthly stipend to take over as site manager.
