Social media reacts to UNC’s disappointing loss at Georgia Tech

A struggling Georgia Tech program ended UNC’s undefeated run in ACC men’s basketball play on Tuesday night. What did the fans think?

After a month of looking like college basketball’s best team, UNC suffered through a cold shooting night in a 74-73 loss at Georgia Tech.

First-place North Carolina (17-4, 9-1 ACC) was just 28-of-77 on field goals against a struggling Yellow Jackets (10-11, 3-7) team, which had lost 8-of-9 coming in. Georgia Tech, on the other hand, shot 25-of-61 from the field.

RJ Davis was the only Tar Heel to reach double-figures, leading all scorers with 26 points on 11-of-23 shooting. He nearly scored the game-winning points on a late layup, only for the Yellow Jackets’ Nathian George to convert his own game-winner.

Davis had one more chance to win the game on a contested layup, but missed off the side of the rim.

Georgia Tech didn’t shoot lights out, but they did just enough to take down UNC. Senior guard Kyle Sturdivant came off the bench to score 18 points, one of three Yellow Jackets in double-figures, while Georgia Tech blocked eight shots to North Carolina’s zero.

Could the Tar Heels have been looking ahead to Duke on Saturday?

Possibly.

If so, that’s a terrible mindset to play with. Tuesday’s loss isn’t the end of the world, but it puts a lot more pressure on the boys in baby blue.

Let’s see what social media thought of the disappointing loss:

Social media reacts to the Oklahoma Sooners loss to Texas Tech

The Oklahoma Sooners had an opportunity to pull out a win but couldn’t come away with the top 25 win at home.

It’s never good when you go 0-2 in a week in the Big 12. Especially when you’re a top-15 team, and both games were at home.

In this most recent loss, the Oklahoma Sooners struggled at the free throw line. The Sooners shot just 62.5% from the line in a game they lost by one.

Oklahoma shot well from the floor, hitting 47.5% from the field and 42.3% from three. Good teams are able to execute the little things, and unfortunately, this week, Oklahoma hasn’t looked like a good basketball team.

The Sooners have a two-game winning streak against West Virginia and Cincinnati sandwiched between a pair of two-game losing streaks. They’re currently 3-4 in the Big 12 and still in a strong position to make the NCAA tournament. However, they have some questions to answer in the second half of these games after Texas outscored them by 16 on Tuesday and they let this one slip away.

Here’s how social media reacted to the Sooners loss to Texas Tech.

Social media reacts to UNC escaping Tallahassee with win-streak intact

We take a look at the good, bad, and ugly reactions to UNC Basketball’s 75-68 win over FSU to stay unbeaten in ACC.

The UNC men’s basketball program traveled to Tallahassee for an ACC showdown against Florida State, and it got off to a fiery start.

From tip-off, the energy was oozing off the court onto social media, as college hoop fans reacted to the fast action. [autotag]Elliot Cadeau[/autotag] was receiving love early, showing another aggressive offensive attack to score the Tar Heel’s first four points.

UNC was able to create separation, leading by 11, before FSU surged back with a physical attack and got hot behind three. The physical play brought high emotions and one of the bigger moments in the first half with a near scuffle taking place between De’Ante Green and Armando Bacot.

As tempers flared up, so did social media with UNC being down 41-36 at the half, leaving fans hoping for deja vu from the first game.

UNC caught up quickly in the second half, snagging the lead back in the first five minutes.

Shortly after, FSU came crawling back, putting UNC on upset watch. FSU cut the lead to two, but the Heels were able to pull away thanks to…who else, but RJ Davis.

The Tar Heels showed their resilience once again, with a dominating second half to push UNC’s winning streak to 10. It was a great win, filled with emotion, as RJ Davis kept up his hot scoring finishing with 24 points while Harrison Ingram dominated the boards once again with 17 rebounds..

It was the ideal away game to prepare UNC for next week’s games against Georgia Tech and Duke. Before we get ahead, let’s take a look at the good, bad, and ugly social media reactions to UNC’s 75-68 win over FSU.

Social media reacts to how UNC football released its 2024 schedule

Here’s how social media reacted to UNC Football’s Drew Walls-inspired schedule release for the 2024 season.

The UNC football program is looking to bounce back for the 2023-2024 season, and we now know the teams they will play in their journey toward a hopeful National Championship.

Unlike last season, the Tar Heel’s schedule this year won’t give them any significant boost in rankings, having the second-easiest schedule in the ACC. Despite notable threats on the schedule, the UNC social team rollout of the schedule was one for the ages as they hopped on a creative tiktok trend.

The hilarious rollout has garnered over 1.4 million views, completely overshadowing the weak schedule. The video sent social media into a frenzy, as many discussed the creativity while others could not get past their disappointment in the 2023-2024 opponents.

Last season was a huge tease for fans after a 6-0 start. So, not a complete shock to see UNC dial it back, especially seeing they will be hitting the field without a top-two quarterback in college football. It’s clear this is a winnable schedule, but before we get ahead of ourselves we take a look at the good, bad, and ugly social media reactions regarding UNC football’s 2023-2024 schedule.

Social media reacts to UNC Football’s 2024 schedule

The 2024 UNC football schedule was released on Wednesday, giving fans an early look at who their beloved Tar Heels will be playing.

Wednesday was an exciting day for every ACC football team, as 2024 season schedules were released.

Schools don’t know times yet, but they do at least know the days and opponents they’ll be playing.

UNC will begin its 2024 football season on the road, traveling to Minneapolis on Thursday, Aug. 29 for its second-ever matchup with the Minnesota Golden Gophers. When Minnesota came to Kenan Stadium last year, the Tar Heel defense limited former quarterback Athas Kaliakmanis to just 10 completions, while Drake Maye enjoyed his first of two 400-passing yard performances.

North Carolina then returns home for a Saturday, Sept. 7 clash with UNC-Charlotte, the two programs’ inaugural matchup against each other. This will kick off a stretch of three-consecutive home games for the Tar Heels, who end their long homestand with a 2016 rematch against Sun Belt opponent James Madison.

UNC heads to Durham on Saturday, Sept. 28 to take on Duke. For anyone who remembers last year’s game, the Tar Heels escaped in double-overtime.

After returning home to host Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech (Oct. 5 and 12), Carolina doesn’t play another home game until Saturday, Nov. 16 against Wake Forest. UNC will end its regular season against hated rival NC State, whose head coach said some questionable things about the Tar Heels.

Let’s react to the Tar Heels’ full schedule, which also includes games against Florida State, Virginia and Boston College:

Social media reacts to RJ Davis’ career-high 36-point outburst vs. Wake Forest

RJ Davis was Mr. UNC Basketball on Monday night against Wake, leading all scorers and setting a career-high point total in the process.

It’s been the RJ Davis show for UNC basketball this season, with Monday night being just another chapter in that storybook.

Davis is playing better than arguably anyone in college basketball right now, as he leads the ACC with 21 points per game. He’s near-automatic from the free-throw line and is one of the best perimeter shooters to set foot in Chapel Hill. Davis stands at just 6 feet tall, but drives the lane against the toughest of big men.

As good as Davis has played all year, he was at his best Monday night.

Davis scored a career-high 36 points – on a 14-of-23 performance from the field and 4-of-5 night from the line.

This isn’t just any North Carolina basketball team – it’s the best we’ve watched in years. With the exception of Kentucky, Villanova and UConn, the Tar Heels have been largely handling teams.

Armando Bacot has been playing solid under the basket, but it’s the veteran presence of transfers Harrison Ingram and Cormac Ryan making the difference. UNC head coach Hubert Davis is playing more of his bench, something he caught a lot of heat for not doing this year.

But the main reason North Carolina is such a special team this season?

The senior shooting guard from White Plains, New York who could very well be National Player of the Year when the season ends.

Check out what Tar Heel nation had to say about RJ’s big night:

Social media reacts to UNC’s domination of Wake Forest

UNC pulled away in the second half for a dominant, 85-64 victory over Wake Forest that kept it undefeated in ACC play. How’d fans react?

UNC basketball fans knew that tonight’s North Carolina-Wake Forest battle was going to be a close one, as it would prove crucial in the ACC standings.

It was anyone’s game in the first half. The Tar Heels looked as if they were going to pull away early, only for Wake Forest to catch a hot hand late and take a 1-point lead into halftime.

You never would’ve guessed what happened out of the break.

Carolina ran past the visiting Demon Deacons, making virtually every shot and playing its newly-discovered brand of suffocating defense, to help it pick up an 85-64 win and stay undefeated in conference play.

RJ Davis stole the show again, scoring a career-high 36 points on 14-of-23 shooting and four made free throws. Elliot Cadeau, Cormac Ryan and Harrison Ingram combined for 35 points, while the Tar Heel defense limited Wake Forest to just a 3-of-20 mark from downtown.

Carolina held an opponent to under 70 points for the ninth-consecutive game – all victories. Wake Forest had three guys reach double-digit point totals, but no one scores 20.

Let’s take a look at what social media had to say about yet another dominant UNC victory, which will surely keep it in the AP Poll’s Top 3:

Social media reacts to UNC flying past Boston College trap

Social media reacts to UNC flying past Boston College trap, extending their win streak to eight.

The UNC basketball program was in enemy territory Saturday afternoon, taking on Boston College.

Despite the Tar Heels scorching play as of late, often ending in a lopsided victory, they would have to work twice as hard, with Boston College benefiting in the turnover battle. Every time UNC found a rhythm to create separation, the Eagles came flying back.

But in the end, UNC proved again why they are a top 5 team in the nation, slowly wearing out Boston College as they did to NC State and Pitt. The Tar Heels offensive pressure was too much for Boston College, beating the Eagles 76-66.

This game featured many highs and lows for UNC, with big swing plays being the deciding factor. Despite the too-close-for comfort-back and forth, many moments took center stage with the game showcasing an aggressive [autotag]Elliot Cadeau[/autotag], a [autotag]Harrison Ingram[/autotag] double-double, and another clutch performance by[autotag] RJ Davis[/autotag].

A game that was neck to neck throughout usually would’ve had college hoop fans in arms, but another bad refereeing performance caught the attention of most backlash.

UNC will return to Chapel Hill on Monday with an ACC showdown against an underrated Wake Forest team, but before we get there, we take a look at the good, bad, and ugly from the Tar Heels win over Boston College.

Social media reacts to UNC beating Louisville to go 6-0 in ACC

From the good, bad, and unseen, we look at how social media reacted to the UNC Basketball team avoiding Louisville’s comeback.

The UNC basketball program picked up their seventh straight win by beating Louisville in dominating fashion, but unless you were in attendance, you were busy scrolling social media to see why the game wasn’t on air yet.

It was a dream start for the Tar Heels, going on a 15-4 run once the ball tipped off. However, it was a nightmare for fans who didn’t get a chance to watch due to ESPN and ACC networks not having the feed available despite having coverage. College hoop displeasure about the lack of coverage was the highlight on social media for the first 10 minutes of waiting for the game to air.

UNC’s defense led the way in the first half, causing 10 turnovers, seven steaming from steals. Lousiville cut the lead midway through the first, with the Tar Heels going through a rough offensive stretch. Along with the tough stretch, questionable calls by the referees came into question, as play stopped numerous times, once seeing about a flagrant foul and the other wiping away an [autotag]RJ Davis [/autotag] three.

The second half saw a scare for UNC as what many thought was a blowout waiting to happen turned into a near collapse, as the Cardinals went on a 21-9 run to cut the lead. Social media was on fire as college hoops fans couldn’t believe the run Louisville had. Questionable referring showed up once again, to everyone’s dismay.

However, UNC showed why they are the fourth-ranked team in the nation and has Duke legends admitting he would play for them. They grew the lead back to cruise control by the three-minute mark, with [autotag]Jae’lyn Withers [/autotag]stepping up.

UNC grabbed the victory 86-70.

This game had many special moments, with Tyler Hansbrough as the color analyst, [autotag]Armando Bacot[/autotag] moving to fourth on the all-time scoring list, and Withers giving it to his former team.

From the good, bad, and unseen, we look at how social media reacted to UNC avoiding Louisville’s comeback.
