Social media reacts to RJ Davis’ career-high 36-point outburst vs. Wake Forest

RJ Davis was Mr. UNC Basketball on Monday night against Wake, leading all scorers and setting a career-high point total in the process.

It’s been the RJ Davis show for UNC basketball this season, with Monday night being just another chapter in that storybook.

Davis is playing better than arguably anyone in college basketball right now, as he leads the ACC with 21 points per game. He’s near-automatic from the free-throw line and is one of the best perimeter shooters to set foot in Chapel Hill. Davis stands at just 6 feet tall, but drives the lane against the toughest of big men.

As good as Davis has played all year, he was at his best Monday night.

Davis scored a career-high 36 points – on a 14-of-23 performance from the field and 4-of-5 night from the line.

This isn’t just any North Carolina basketball team – it’s the best we’ve watched in years. With the exception of Kentucky, Villanova and UConn, the Tar Heels have been largely handling teams.

Armando Bacot has been playing solid under the basket, but it’s the veteran presence of transfers Harrison Ingram and Cormac Ryan making the difference. UNC head coach Hubert Davis is playing more of his bench, something he caught a lot of heat for not doing this year.

But the main reason North Carolina is such a special team this season?

The senior shooting guard from White Plains, New York who could very well be National Player of the Year when the season ends.
