Snoop Dogg’s Amazon Prime flick ‘Underdoggs’ has football royalty, including Deion Sanders and Michael Strahan

Snoop Dogg, hilarious one-liners and football? Sign us up.

Snoop Dogg is a national treasure.

If you’ve been paying attention over the last few months, Snoop has been turning heads across the internet in the best possible. As a lyrical connoisseur, he made the bold decision to partner with Chris Stapleton earlier this year to reimagine the Monday Night Football theme song.

Then, he followed that up by doing perhaps the most Snoop Dogg thing ever. In a stroke of pure genius, he absolutely nailed his new campaign with Solo Stove by telling his fans he was “giving up smoke.” The news left his supporters reeling for several days, only for him to announce in November that the move was related to smokeless firepits.

Now, he’s back with more jokes in a new movie called The Underdoggs, a comedy that loosely pays tribute to Snoop’s work as a youth football coach in Long Beach, California.

On Wednesday, Amazon Prime dropped the trailer, and it looks glorious.

(Warning: NSFW language.)

The movie debuts on January 26, 2024, and includes a star-studded supporting cast with Mike Epps, Andrew Schultz, Tika Sumpter and George Lopez.

It also features cameos by Deion Sanders, Michael Strahan and the Fox NFL studio team.

Chris Stapleton’s cover of ‘In The Air Tonight’ for Monday Night Football will give us goosebumps all year

Chris Stapleton, Snoop Dogg, and Cindy Blackman absolutely rocked this.

ESPN already revamped its announcing booth for Monday Night Football by hiring the colorful Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. Now, the weekly presentation is about to get a lot better — thanks to the musical stylings of Chris Stapleton, Snoop Dogg, and famed drummer Cindy Blackman.

On Monday, ESPN revealed a teaser for a new Monday Night Football theme song. It features the Grammy-winning Stapleton and Co. jamming out with a cover for Phil Collins’ famed “In The Air Tonight.”

Some quick thoughts:

  1. That is a perfect song for a night football game. No notes.
  2. This trio absolutely crushed it. I now want to mysteriously watch a Monday night game just by listening to it. Once again, no notes.

If this fantastic theme is part of ESPN’s approach to make Monday fall nights a flagship event again, then they’re passing with flying colors.

Snoop Dogg, Will Ferrell respond to Pete Carroll’s QB video

Pete seemed surprised at the reaction, but had the most perfect Carroll-esque response to it.

The best viral video coming out of the NFL world this week was Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll taking snaps at quarterback during practice. Carroll not only took snaps, but actually looked rather good – especially when considering he will be 72 years old in September.

However, it appears Carroll’s video is making waves right now. It isn’t just fans responding to it, but some big names. Such as Snoop Dogg, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, and longtime friend and fan Will Ferrell.

Carroll seemed surprised at the reaction, but had the most perfect Carroll-esque response to it.

Pete Carroll’s impressive football throws at Seahawks practice spark hysterical, NSFW responses from Snoop Dogg, Will Ferrell

Pete Carroll: QB1?

A viral video of Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll making some impressive throws to his players during practice has caught the eye of some prominent folks.

On Saturday, Carroll shared some hilarious, NSFW responses to his surprising passing abilities from folks like Snoop Dogg, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and Will Ferrell.

The three “condemn” Carroll for “showing up” his Seahawks players, which of course isn’t actually a thing but y’know, jokes and all.

While the Seahawks certainly aren’t going to have Carroll jump into the quarterback competition, it is kind of funny to imagine a world where someone watches this video and takes it seriously.

Y’know, maybe Carroll could sling it on an NFL field if he really wanted; who’s to say?

While the Seahawks are probably more than happy with Geno Smith as the team’s starter, maybe Carroll will put on some pads and take a snap or two during the Seahawks’ preseason finale later this month.

9-year-old in Snoop Dogg’s youth football league signs 6-figure NIL deal

Ghalee Wadood Jr., a 9-year-old in Snoop Dogg’s youth football league, signed an NIL deal worth six figures.

A 9-year-old Los Angeles football player has become perhaps the youngest person to sign a Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deal with a sports agency. KTLA reported that Ghalee Wadood Jr., who plays in Snoop Dogg’s Youth Football League, signed a deal worth six figures with Family 4 Life.

“It’s kinda surreal,” Ghalee Wadood Sr., who is an employee of the Los Angeles Rams, said to KTLA. “It’s humbling and exciting for [the agency] to see his potential and want to manage him.”

Family 4 Life represents players from NFL teams such as the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants, according to the news outlet.

Snoop Dogg tweeted about the news after the KTLA article was published:

Wadood Jr. was named Snoop’s MVP of the youth league in his first year, an award that usually goes to older players. The league, which has been active since 2005 and is tailored toward youth football and cheer programs, has alumni including NFL players JuJu Smith-Schuster and Daiyan Henley.

In addition to football, Wadood Jr. competes in baseball, track and karate, his dad told the news outlet.

With this massive amount of money, Wadood Jr. is entering a new world brought about by the onset of NIL money in amateur sports. See highlights from six months ago, when he was eight years old, here:

Snoop Dogg’s bid for Ottawa Senators’ ownership could be just what the NHL needs

Yes, Snoop Dogg’s bid for ownership of the Senators is real and he makes some good points!

Move over Ryan Reynolds, there’s another celebrity out there with eyes on buying the Ottawa Senators.

Yes, that’s right, Snoop Dogg is putting his bid in to buy the Senators and he’s 100 percent serious. On Thursday, Snoop Dogg confirmed his bid for NHL team ownership — as part of Neko Sparks’ group — with The Athletic, stating that this is in no way a publicity stunt

“This ain’t no joke or no gimmick. Or an image or likeness play. This is a real ownership play,” he said. “And Snoop will put his foot in the town.”

To do so, Snoop Dogg will have to beat out Reynolds and the Remington Group, with the bidding possibly set to reach $1 billion, a record for the NHL. Previously, the Pittsburgh Penguins were bought by Fenway Sports Group for around $900 million back in late 2021.

Though Snoop Dogg’s only just thrown his hat in the ring for ownership of the Senators, he’s already starting to make some good points. In his interview with The Athletic, Snoop Dogg was honest in his assessment of the NHL’s poor marketing of its stars in the United States.

Not only that, Snoop Dogg sees this ownership bid with Sparks’ group as a real chance to help improve one of the NHL’s most dire areas of need: diversity.

“Your league has Canadians, Russians, Europeans, African-Americans. So there should be a mixed variety of owners,” Snoop Dogg said to The Athletic. “So if something happens outside your race, you’ll have some understanding. Now you have a different tone in that room, instead of one mindset.”

Time will tell which group ends up buying the Senators, but Snoop Dogg already has put forth a pretty great marketing pitch.

Snoop Dogg perfectly predicted Jordan Poole’s crucial miss several hours before it happened

Snoop Dogg: ‘Jordan Poole, keep shooting. I like the way you’ve been missing, brother’

Warriors guard Jordan Poole missed a deep, game-tying 3-pointer against the Lakers, just as Snoop Dogg predicted.

Several hours before Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals between Golden State and Los Angeles, the hip-hop superstar was a guest on ESPN’s First Take to discuss the series between the two California rivals.

The legendary West Coast rapper predicted that the Lakers would double-team Stephen Curry and then somebody else on the defending champions would find themselves wide open.

Snoop, a lifelong fan of the Lakers, encouraged Poole to “keep shooting” when uncontested because he figured that would lead to a miss. It is even better when you hear Snoop say it himself:

Lo and behold, that is precisely what happened during the final seconds of the first game between the Lakers and the Warriors.

You can even hear the broadcast call it out as it unfolds. Curry is indeed double-teamed, just like Snoop expected, and Poole clanks it off the rim.

Curry’s disappointed reaction showed us everything we needed to know about that possession.

I’m not sure if this makes Snoop some kind of basketball clairvoyant because predicting a Curry double team and a Poole miss isn’t exactly rocket science.

But we need to hear more predictions from Snoop Dogg during this series!

Snoop Dogg on Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: ‘He kind of remind me of me’

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander edited Snoop Dogg into a Thunder jersey after compliments from the rapper.

What does Snoop Dogg look for when he is evaluating NBA players?

The legendary rapper joined Stephen A. Smith on Wednesday for NBA in Stephen A’s World on ESPN’s alternate telecast of the Bulls vs. Raptors play-in game. Snoop Dogg, who hit a beautiful people’s elbow on The Miz to save a Wrestlemania 39 segment earlier this month, was a fascinating guest.

Snoop Dogg was asked about his choice for the league’s MVP. He said that his sleeper pick was Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

(He clearly has good taste in NBA players — we wrote about why the OKC guard deserved to hear his name in those conversations back in November.)

Here is from Snoop:

“Well, I kind of like that kid from OKC. What’s his name? I like that kid. He’s a sleeper. He ain’t no big-name kid. But the way he play, he play like Snoop. He kind of remind me of me.

SGA was clearly grateful for the shoutout because, after the game, he edited the Long Beach rapper into a Thunder jersey for an Instagram post.

Snoop assuredly remains a loyal fan of the Lakers, but it’s hard to look at this and not smile at least a little bit.

Also, if Snoop feels like he plays like SGA, I’d love to see his latest highlight tape. How is his ball handling when he is driving to the basket?

Snoop Dogg hit a hideous, beautiful people’s elbow on The Miz to save a Wrestlemania 39 segment

Snoop stepped up when Shane McMahon left a match early due to an apparent injury.

For the second night in a row, Wrestlemania 39 host Snoop Dogg threw his co-host, former WWE champion The Miz, into an impromptu match at the biggest event in all of pro wrestling. But unlike Saturday night’s throwdown with NFL veteran turned podcaster Pat McAfee, Sunday’s bout with a returning Shane McMahon didn’t appear to go as planned.

McMahon’s knee buckled awkwardly following a leap frog, leaving Miz to circle the ring awkwardly as cameras turned away from the part-time wrestler and former WWE executive. When it became clear McMahon could not continue, Snoop answered the call.

He laid out Miz with a pair of rights while stalling for time. Then he hit the ropes as gingerly as you’d expect from a 51-year-old non wrestler channeling The Rock.

Behold, either the worst — or best — People’s Elbow in Wrestlemania history.

Soon after came the 1-2-3 for the win. The Miz’s 2023 Wrestlemania record fell to 0-2 with losses to two different people whose full time jobs are very much not wrestling.

McMahon’s medical status is unclear. But whether his medical stoppage was planned or a horrible accident, Snoop Dogg filled in admirably to add another spectacle to a weekend filled with them. And if it’s a horrible accident, our hearts go out to him in hopes of a speedy recovery.
