10 former Ravens are signed to UFL teams

With the NFL season now in the rearview and the UFL set to debut, we’re looking at 10 former Baltimore Ravens who are participating in the spring league

With the NFL season now complete and the offseason underway, Baltimore has one of the most extended lists of players who are getting another shot in the new eight-team UFL, which kicks off season kicks off on Saturday, March 30, 2024, with the battle of the 2023 champions: Arlington Renegades vs Birmingham Stallions.

A combination agreement (the “UFL”) is the premier spring football league that resulted from the merger of the XFL and USFL.

Russ Brandon, former President and CEO of the XFL, will lead the UFL as President and CEO. Former USFL President of Football Operations Daryl Johnston will lead football operations.

Founded in 2001, the XFL was a collaboration between NBC and WWF (WWE), spearheaded by Vince McMahon. After a hot start, poor ratings ultimately led to the league’s lasting just one season. The league returned in 2020, with McMahon again leading the reboot, but it had to close its doors again after COVID-19 shut things down after just five weeks.

The league filed for bankruptcy and was forced to sell.

A group headed by Dany Garcia, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, bought the league out of bankruptcy for $15 million, eyeing 2023 as its return season.

The UFL has eight teams in Arlington (TX), Birmingham (AL), Detroit (MI), Houston (TX), San Antonio (TX), Memphis (TN), St. Louis (MO), and Washington D.C.

With action to begin this weekend, we’re looking at 10 former Ravens on UFLrosters.

Former Alabama WR Slade Bolden waived by the Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta Falcons cut Slade Bolden as they trim their roster to 53 players

The Atlanta Falcons have cut former Alabama wide receiver Slade Bolden as they trim their roster down to 53 men. Bolden was a utility piece in the Tide’s 2020 National Championship team and spent the season playing alongside eventual Heisman Trophy winner, DeVonta Smith.

Bolden’s decision to leave Tuscaloosa and forego his senior year of eligibility after the 2021 season was questionable in real time and hindsight proves he would have greatly benefitted by spending another year with Nick Saban. Through three seasons with the Crimson Tide, Bolden posted 68 catches for 712 yards and four touchdowns.

After going undrafted in the 2022 NFL draft, Bolden eventually signed with the Baltimore Ravens. He spent part of the season with Baltimore but suffered an injury in August that landed him on the IR before eventually being released in October. Hopefully, for Bolden’s sake, he can find a practice squad to spend the 2023 season with as he continues to wait on his shot in the NFL.

Alabama football countdown to kickoff: 18 days

We are now just 18 days away from the start of Alabama’s football season!

The Alabama Crimson Tide will take the field for the 2023 college football season in 18 days, as Middle Tennessee State visits Bryant Denny Stadium on Sept. 2.

Here at Roll Tide Wire, we will be counting down the days until Nick Saban and his team take the field.

with 18 days remaining, we will take a look at a former Tide receiver who just moved on to the NFL, [autotag]Slade Bolden[/autotag].

Bolden was a Swiss army knife for the Crimson Tide during his career in Tuscaloosa. Bolden collected 68 receptions for 712 yards and four touchdowns from 2019-21. Bolden even tossed a touchdown pass of six yards back in 2019.

Wide receiver Shazz Preston and defensive back Bray Hubbard currently wear No. 18 for the Crimson Tide.

Former Alabama WR Slade Bolden signs with the Atlanta Falcons

Slade Bolden signs with the Atlanta Falcons after weekend workouts with the franchise.

Former Alabama wide receiver, Slade Bolden, is set to get another shot at the NFL. This time, with the Atlanta Falcons.

Bolden spent four years in Tuscaloosa totaling 68 catches for 712 yards and four touchdowns in 30 career games. After the 2021 season, Bolden had one more remaining year of eligibility due to a redshirt, but chose to forego it and enter the 2022 NFL draft where he went undrafted, but was later signed by the Baltimore Ravens as a free agent.

His decision to give up a year of eligibility came as a surprise to many as he would have been a leading receiver on the 2022 Alabama team and didn’t have a ton of college film for NFL teams.

During training camp, Bolden suffered an injury and was placed on the injured reserved and was set to miss the majority of his rookie season. Unfortunately, the Ravens ultimately decided to release him two months later in October. He just turned 24 at the beginning of this year and will get another chance at making it in the league.

Atlanta is in the midst of a rebuild, which leaves a door cracked for Bolden to make the 53-man roster.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Slade Bolden and other former Alabama players in the NFL as the 2023 offseason progresses.

The Atlanta Falcons signed linebacker Andre Smith on Sunday afternoon, and now it sounds like the team is adding another free agent to the mix. According to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Falcons are signing wide receiver Slade Bolden.

The former Alabama wideout signed with the Baltimore Ravens after going undrafted in 2022. Bolden later suffered a sports hernia and was released in October without playing in a single game.

The Falcons will likely use Bolden on special teams as he’s an experienced kick/punt returner from his time in Alabama.

Atlanta signed former Seahawks wide receiver Penny Hart last week, and the team has since signed four members of its 2023 NFL draft class. Check out the team’s updated roster going into 2023.

Falcons working out former Alabama WR Slade Bolden

The #Falcons are working out former Alabama wide receiver Slade Bolden, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

On Monday, the Atlanta Falcons signed six undrafted free agents, including three wide receivers, but the team is still looking to upgrade the position. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the Falcons are working out former Ravens wide receiver Slade Bolden Tuesday.

Bolden went undrafted out of Alabama before signing with the Ravens as a free agent last season. Unfortunately for Bolden, he suffered a sports hernia and was eventually released without playing in a single game.

The 5-foot-11 wideout wasn’t a huge part of the Crimson Tide offense, but he has some special teams ability, returning punts and kicks for the team in 2021.

Free-agent WR Slade Bolden trying out for Colts

Former Alabama WR Slade Bolden is trying out for the Colts.

The Indianapolis Colts are hosting free-agent wide receiver Slade Bolden for a tryout during the team’s three-day voluntary minicamp this week.

Because the Colts hired new head coach Shane Steichen this offseason, they were granted permission to hold a voluntary minicamp ahead of the 2023 NFL draft.

Bolden may not be the only player to be participating in the offseason workouts this week on a tryout basis.

Bolden went undrafted following the 2022 NFL draft and signed with the Baltimore Ravens. He was placed on the injured reserve list during the preseason and was released in October.

At 5-foot-10 and 193 pounds, Bolden ran a 4.66 in the 40-yard dash with a 36-inch vertical. He has yet to appear in an NFL game since entering the league.

LOOK: Top images from Alabama football’s pro day

Alabama football’s pro day had some of the biggest stars of the draft show out in Tuscaloosa

Alabama football recently hosted its pro day, which allowed NFL scouts and coaches to get an in-person look at some of the Crimson Tide’s biggest stars.

Bryce Young and Will Anderson Jr. headlined those who participated, but other players about to declare for the draft were present including Brian Branch, Jahmyr Gibbs, Cameron Latu and others.

A few former Alabama players that are looking to sign free agent deals were also given an opportunity to show that they can do, as DJ Fluker and Slade Bolden both made appearances.

The 2023 NFL draft is roughly one month away and four Crimson Tide players are expected to be selected in the first round.

Slade Bolden to workout at Alabama football Pro Day

Slade Bolden set to work out at Crimson Tide Pro Day with Bryce Young

Former Alabama Crimson Tide WR and special teams standout, [autotag]Slade Bolden[/autotag], will run routes and catch passes from Bryce Young at the Crimson Tide’s Pro Day on Thursday.

Bolden went undrafted in the 2022 NFL draft, however, he was quickly signed as a free agent by the Baltimore Ravens. Bolden suffered an injury with the Ravens before ultimately being released back in October.

The wide receiver hasn’t seen playing time in the NFL so getting extra reps in front of scouts is much needed, especially since Young didn’t throw at the NFL combine a few weeks ago either, so plenty of scouts will be in attendance.

Hopefully, Bolden is able to impress some people on Thursday and find himself on a roster for 2023.

Latest update on former Alabama WR Slade Bolden’s workout with Patriots

Is Mac Jones’ former Alabama teammate New England-bound?

There hasn’t been much news following former Alabama receiver Slade Bolden’s workout with the New England Patriots last week. But no news doesn’t necessarily mean bad news, according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

The Patriots could be turning the clock back to the days when the offense leaned on slot receivers with good area quickness and a knack for finding the soft spots in coverage. Bolden fits the prototypical receiver that has thrived in past Patriots’ offenses, and he has a genuine connection with quarterback Mac Jones, who was his college teammate at Alabama.

Reiss wrote:

The Patriots had free agent slot receiver Slade Bolden in for a workout last week, and while there wasn’t an imminent signing, the sides are expected to keep an open dialogue as free agency unfolds. Bolden is one of Mac Jones’ closest friends from their time together at Alabama and also played one season under O’Brien, the Patriots’ new OC.

The wide receiver position could see a dramatic change with Jakobi Meyers and Nelson Agholor both set to test free agency.

Meyers, who excelled in the slot, is reportedly “doubtful” to take less money to stay in New England. That would essentially leave the team without its best receiver. Adding Bolden to the receivers room, however, along with a true No. 1 threat, could turn things around for the better.
