Former Alabama WR Slade Bolden set to work out for New England Patriots

Could Patriots QB Mac Jones be reunited with his former WR Slade Bolden in New England?

Former Alabama wide receiver Slade Bolden is scheduled to work out for the New England Patriots, according to Patriots reporter Mike Reiss. Bolden was a part of Alabama’s offense in 2022 under Bill O’Brien, who is now the offensive coordinator in Foxborough.

Bolden played wide receiver at Alabama from 2017-2021. During his Alabama career, Bolden had 68 receptions for 712 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

After the 2021 season, Bolden was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Baltimore Ravens. A sports hernia prevented him from participating in the team’s training camp and subsequently led to him being released.

This will be the second opportunity that Bolden has gotten since departing the Ravens. The Kansas City Chiefs also held a workout for Bolden during their playoff stretch.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama players in the NFL.

Former Alabama WR Slade Bolden works out for Kansas City Chiefs

Former Alabama WR Slade Bolden reportedly had a workout with the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday.

One former Alabama wide receiver is doing his best to make a postseason roster. Slade Bolden had a workout scheduled with the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday. The news was first reported by NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero.

Bolden was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2021. After signing, he suffered a sports hernia that caused him to be placed on the team’s injured reserve. Consequently, he was released by the organization in late August.

Now, it appears that he will be looking to have a role on the Chiefs as they head into postseason play. The team has had its share of injuries at wide receiver and Bolden could provide some much-needed depth. It will be interesting to see if the Chiefs actually go through with signing the former Alabama pass-catcher.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Bolden’s professional career as well as other former Alabama players in the NFL.

Chiefs to host former Alabama WR Slade Bolden for tryout

The #Chiefs are working out former Alabama WR Slade Bolden on Monday, per report.

Now that free agents are eligible to be signed on reserve/future contracts, expect to hear about plenty of tryouts for the Kansas City Chiefs.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports that former Alabama WR/PR Slade Bolden will be among the first to have a workout with the Chiefs. An undrafted free agent in the 2022 NFL draft, Bolden spent training camp with the Baltimore Ravens. He suffered a sports hernia ahead of the season and had surgery to repair the injury per Pelissero. He was waived by the Ravens in August.

Listed at 5-11 and 191 pounds, Bolden appeared in 30 games over his Crimson Tide tenure. During that span, he recorded 68 receptions for 712 yards and four touchdowns. Bolden also had 22 punt returns for 148 yards and played on special teams coverage units during his time at Alabama.

Bolden recorded no stats during the preseason.

Bolden told reporters at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine that he models his game after former New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman. The Chiefs could certainly use their own Edelman type in Kansas City, whether his role is to play on special teams or offense.

Multiple Ravens players return to practice on Saturday

Multiple Ravens players returned to practice on Saturday

The Baltimore Ravens got back on the practice field on Saturday after their 23-10 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 of the 2022 preseason. The team extended their preseason winning streak to 21-straight games, and got right back to work on Saturday by hitting the practice field.

Baltimore got multiple pieces of good news on Saturday, as a handful of their players returned to practice on both sides of the ball. Wide receiver Slade Bolden as well as defensive backs Brandon Stephens and Jalyn Armour-Davis were able to participate after missing practice time and the team’s opening preseason contest.

The Ravens were getting a bit thin depth wise at both wide receiver and defensive back, so to see the return of three players is an encouraging sign. Bolden is competing for a roster spot with a slew of other wideouts, while Stephens and Armour-Davis are looking to establish a role in Baltimore’s defensive backfield.

Ravens ST coordinator Chris Horton shares early impressions on WR Slade Bolden

Ravens special teams coordinator Chris Horton shared his thoughts on wide receiver Slade Bolden

The Baltimore Ravens had a phenomenal 2022 draft, securing an extremely talented 11-player draft class. However, they were also able to add many solid undrafted free agents, something that the team has been known for over the course of their franchise history.

One of those undrafted players was wide receiver Slade Bolden out of the University of Alabama. After Baltimore’s second open media session of 2022 voluntary organized team activities, Ravens special teams Chris Horton was asked about his early impressions of the former Crimson Tide wideout, and he talked about Bolden’s experience on special teams as a returner.

“Slade [Bolden] is another guy that comes in who’s a returner. We’re always looking for returners, and he’s done that. He’s done that at [the University of] Alabama. His job is just going to have to be able to come in here, work and get better, and just try to compete for a job. Just take it one day at a time. We give every guy an opportunity. He’s going to play a lot in these preseason football games. But he’s just got to get better, that’s all.”

Bolden got run as a returner both in his second and third seasons in college, putting together a 6.7 yards per return average on 22 punt returns as well as a 13.4 yards per return average on kick returns. Baltimore wide receiver Devin Duvernay established himself as one of the better returners in all of the NFL during the 2021 season, but having a player with potential like Bolden behind him doesn’t hurt whatsoever.

Here is a first-look at many of the former Crimson Tide stars who are looking to enter into their rookie seasons with their respective NFL teams.

Former Alabama DL Marcell Dareus getting another shot in the NFL

The former Pro-Bowler is getting another shot in the NFL!

Former Alabama star defensive lineman [autotag]Marcell Dareus[/autotag] is getting another shot in the NFL, this time with the Baltimore Ravens.

The former No. 3 overall selection in the 2011 NFL draft is currently working out for the Ravens during their 2022 rookie minicamp which also includes a pair of Alabama rookies in [autotag]Jalyn Amour-Davis[/autotag] and [autotag]Slade Bolden[/autotag].

Dareus has not seen any action in the NFL since 2019 when he played for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Although Dareus has battled injuries throughout his NFL career, he still has some eye-popping stats. Through nine seasons, the defensive tackle from Birmingham has been selected to two Pro Bowls, has been named a First-Team All-Pro, notched 37.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumbles recovered, and has 365 combined tackles in 121 games.

Dareus became a fan favorite for the Tide when he intercepted a pass in the 2009 BCS title game against Texas and took it to the house for six.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to monitor Dareus’ journey back to the NFL.

Slade Bolden is right where he’s supposed to be with Baltimore Ravens

Slade Bolden may have missed out on being drafted, but he might be a rising star with the Baltimore Ravens!

Former Alabama wide receiver [autotag]Slade Bolden[/autotag] did not get to hear his name called during the 2022 NFL draft. Instead, he signed on with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent.

The Ravens traded away Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown to the Arizona Cardinals and ended up signing five UDFA wide receivers in total.

Jokes were plentiful when it came to Bolden’s expected landing spot. It almost seemed too perfect of a scenario for him to fall into the grasp of New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. After all, Bolden did say that his style of play was greatly inspired by Patriots legendary receiver Julian Edelman.

Though he wasn’t able to join his former fellow Alabama wide receivers Jameson Williams and John Metchie in getting drafted, Bolden will be able to work himself into a nice role as a member of the Baltimore Ravens for numerous reasons.
