The Seattle Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49ers in Week 17 and finished the year as the NFC West division winner and the NFC’s No. 3 seed heading into the playoffs. But the Seahawks may be limping a bit into the postseason after suffering some injuries in Sunday’s contest.

Coach Pete Carroll provided a number of player updates following the game.

Safety Jamal Adams, who injured his other shoulder, should be fine for the wild-card round pending any new developments.

“He hurt his shoulder,” Carroll told reporters. “He was just so disappointed, he was more dejected about the fact that he got banged up—I think it was on a pass rush – and we’ll see what happens, see what that means for next week, I can’t tell you. The early stuff from the trainers is that he’ll play next week, but we’ll have to see how he does get through the week.”

Seattle saw another defensive player leave the game early, defensive tackle Jarran Reed.

“He had an oblique strain that happened early-middle of the game, and he went back in with it and played with it,” Carroll said. “Pretty sore coming out though, so we’ll have to see what that means. I don’t have any forecast there.”

Carroll also said running back Rashaad Penny suffered some mild cramping but was “fine.”

REPORT: Alabama LB questionable to return vs. Arkansas

Alabama LB Christian Harris was injured on the game’s first play and escorted to the locker room after an awkward landing on his shoulder

Alabama sophomore linebacker Christian Harris has been a big time playmaker for the Crimson Tide defense.

On the first play of the game, Harris went to make a tackle and landed awkwardly on his shoulder.

He was slow to get up and could be seen grabbing his shoulder.

Running off the field on his own power, Harris was escorted to the Alabama locker room.

Reports from ESPN say Harris is questionable to return due to a shoulder injury.

With plenty of time left, if the injury is not serious, there is a strong chance Harris returns late in the contest.

Roll Tide Wire will keep you updated on Harris’ injury and all things Alabama football as they continue to take on Arkansas.

Jamal Adams recovering after ‘playing with one arm’ since Week 10

Seattle Seahawks safety Jamal Adams has been dealing with a shoulder injury since the team’s Week 10 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Jamal Adams stated that he has been limited since the Seattle Seahawks’ Week 10 game against the Los Angeles Rams because of a shoulder injury he suffered early in the contest.

Adams told reporters Friday via Zoom that his injury has been a challenge, but his rehabilitation is improving and that opposing teams should be extremely wary because of it.

“The quick turnaround was very tough playing with one arm, dealing with a shoulder injury,” he said. “But it’s getting better and that’s the scary part. So watch out.”

Adams has been one of the key components of the Seahawks defense this year, leading the unit in sacks with 5.5 in six games. Injuries have kept him out, but he has often been a difference-maker on the field, which is what the Seahawks were hoping for when they acquired him for the hefty price of two first-round picks.

The news that Adams is recovering from his injury is assuring, given that Seattle has lost quite a few playmakers to injuries this season. The Seahawks will face what should be a relatively easy stretch of teams through Week 15.

“It’s OK,” Adams said. “It’s whatever it takes.”

Final Saints-Bucs injury report: Michael Thomas (ankle/hamstring) questionable

The New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers released their final injury report ahead of Week 9, updating Drew Brees and Michael Thomas.

An earlier report from ESPN’s Dianna Russini said that New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas is expected to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night, and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport added that there is optimism internally in New Orleans that Thomas will be able to dress out.

But the Saints played it more conservatively on their final injury report on Friday, listing Thomas as a limited participant in practice and officially designating him as questionable to play. As Sean Payton said in his Friday press conference, Thomas could be a game-time decision after testing his injured ankle and hamstring.

However, Thomas was also the only one listed on the Friday injury report. Every other Saints player practiced fully and is on track to play against Tampa Bay, including quarterback Drew Brees (right shoulder) and running back Alvin Kamara (foot). The Buccaneers will be without left guard Ali Marpet (concussion) while wide receiver Chris Godwin (finger) is questionable.

Updated Saints-Bucs injury report: Drew Brees (shoulder) limited again

Drew Brees and WR Michael Thomas were limited again on the new Saints injury report, but Alvin Kamara and Marquez Callaway practiced fully.

[sendtonews_embed video_id=”eql4wuElzg-1025740-7498″]

So here’s some potentially big news from the Thursday injury report: New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was limited again in practice while managing an injury to his throwing shoulder. Brees was initially listed as limited on Wednesday’s injury report, though he later downplayed the situation in a press conference call.

“I’m always limited on Wednesday,” Brees told The Athletic’s Katherine Terrell. “I’m 41 years old, I’ve got a lot of stuff going on, but just keep ticking.”

Brees referenced his weekly load management, which the Saints adopted several years ago by resting him out during team drills on Wednesdays to preserve strength in his throwing arm. And while it’s true that he rarely turns in a full day’s work in those midweek practice sessions, this was the first time he popped up on the injury report this season.

Here’s hoping it’s just as mild an issue as Brees is suggesting. In other news, the Saints welcomed two of this year’s playmakers back to work in running back Alvin Kamara (foot) and rookie wide receiver Marquez Callaway (ankle), each of whom practiced fully. Star wideout Michael Thomas (ankle/hamstring) was still limited, though.

Seahawks receiver Phillip Dorsett II to return to practice Wednesday

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Phillip Dorsett II, who was inactive Week 1 with a foot injury, is set to return to practice Wednesday.

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Phillip Dorsett II is set to return to practice on Wednesday. Dorsett has been battling a sore foot and was inactive Week 1 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Coach Pete Carroll provided an update on Dorsett and a couple of other players during his Wednesday press conference before practice.

“We are gonna get Phillip Dorsett back on the field today,” Carroll said. “We’ll see how he does getting ready for the weekend. So we are in pretty good shape.”

While Dorsett may be able to resume work, it’s looking like defensive end Rasheem Green (shoulder) and tackle Cedric Ogbuehi (pec) could be a few days at least.

“It’s gonna take all week to figure it out with him and see how he comes back,” Carroll said of Green. “He got some tests done today. So we won’t know.”

Ogbuehi is also in wait-and-see mode.

“Cedric is still going to be hampered a bit,” Carroll acknowledged. “We won’t know until the end of the week on Cedric.”

The official practice report is expected to be released later Wednesday afternoon.

Guard Isaiah Hookfin out two to three weeks with shoulder injury

According to Rivals, guard Isaiah Hookfin will be out for two to three weeks. The redshirt freshmen suffered a shoulder injury in practice.

According to Anwar Richardson of OrangeBloods.com, guard Isaiah Hookfin will be out for two to three weeks. The redshirt freshmen suffered a shoulder injury in practice this week.

If Hookfin does miss the maximum timeline of three weeks, the guard would miss the season opener against UTEP. The Longhorns are scheduled to host the Miners on Sept. 12.

However, Brian Davis of the Austin States-American is reporting Hookfin will be ready to go for the opener.

Hookfin is going into his second year with the program. He sat out all of last year, taking a redshirt year. Now, Hookfin is projected to be the starting right guard against UTEP.

Redshirt sophomore Willie Tyler was supposed to start, however, he opted out of the 2020 season on Aug. 19.

With Derek Kerstetter moving from right tackle to center, the interior offensive line will consist of Junior Angilau, Kerstetter, and Hookfin. All three will be playing their respective positions for the first time in college.

Texas’ offensive line is expected to be a strength this season, even with injuries. Protecting quarterback Sam Ehlinger and giving him time to make plays is what makes the Texas offense work.

Just over two weeks from the UTEP game, the Longhorns will be working to remain healthy. A couple of weeks off the practice field will make sure Hookfin is ready to go on Sept. 12.

Injured Beal won’t participate in NBA restart, Wizards announce

After consulting with team doctors, Beal, who suffered a torn rotator cuff injury, agreed with the team to miss the remainder of the season.

Former Florida and current Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal won’t be joining his team in Orlando when the 2019-20 NBA season restarts later this month. After consulting with team doctors, Beal, who suffered a torn rotator cuff injury, agreed with the team to miss the remainder of the season.

Beal said the decision was made with his longterm health in mind.

“This was a difficult decision and one that I did not take lightly as the leader of this team,” said Beal. “I wanted to help my teammates compete for a playoff spot in Orlando, but also understand that this will be best for all of us in the long term. I appreciate the support of my teammates, the fans and the entire organization and look forward to returning next season to continue the progress we have made.”

He originally injured his shoulder earlier in the season, and his symptoms worsened during the hiatus. He was rehabilitating with the intention of returning, but he will instead continue rehabilitation throughout the summer.

General Manager Tommy Sheppard said the decision was mutual between Beal and the team.

“Bradley did everything possible to be ready to play, but after closely monitoring his individual workouts we came to the conclusion that it was best for him to sit out the upcoming games in Orlando and avoid the risk of further injury,” said Wizards General Manager Tommy Sheppard. “Although he was able to play through the majority of the season with the injury, the layoff from March until now did not leave any of us feeling comfortable that he would have enough time to be ready to perform at the extremely high level we are all accustomed to seeing and agreed that not participating in the games in Orlando was the right decision.”

When the season hiatus began on March 12, Beal was averaging 30.5 points and 6.1 assists. One of the 22 teams selected for the restart, the Wizards are currently 24-40 and hold the ninth seed in the Eastern Conference. Starting on the outside looking in, Washington will vie for a playoff spot during the seeding rounds, though it will have to do it without the NBA’s second-leading scorer in Beal.

K.J. Wright says he is ahead of schedule in shoulder surgery recovery

Seattle Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright stated that he is currently ahead of schedule in his recovery from his offseason shoulder surgery.

On Thursday, Seattle Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright told Sports Radio 950 KJR that his recovery from his shoulder surgery earlier this offseason is progressing smoothly.

“Health is good,” Wright said. “I’m ahead of schedule of where I need to be and if there’s a football season I plan on being out there game one.”

General manager John Schneider publicly expressed his hope back in April that Wright would be back in time for the 2020 NFL season.

“K.J. just had surgery. He’s rehabbing from his surgery,” Schneider said then. “I’m not sure of the timeline on when he’s going to be back. Hopefully, he makes it back on time, and we’ll see how it goes. It’s just a weird offseason. I mean for everybody, but especially for guys that have had offseason surgery.”

Time will tell if Wright is 100% healthy for the upcoming season, but the news he is on the mend is encouraging for Seattle’s linebacking corps.
