G-Day: Freshman WR Adonai Mitchell turning heads

Freshman receiver Adonai Micthell is showing out for Georgia football in its annual spring game. Details here.

We’ve heard plenty of fuss this offseason about freshman receiver Adonai Mitchell, but we haven’t had the chance to see the former four-star recruit in action until now.

The Texas native is absolutely showing out for the Red team in Georgia’s annual spring game. He leads all receivers with five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Here are a few highlights from his big first half.

Georgia needs all the help they can get at receiver with star George Pickens out with an ACL tear and Mitchell can be a huge part of filling that gap.

The second half is about to kickoff with the Red team holding a 14-10 lead. You can tune in live on the ESPN app.

Georgia football is hosting its annual spring game from Sanford Stadium right now on the ESPN app.

The Black team took off early and got on the board first with a Kendall Milton rushing touchdown and senior running back Zamir White just took his turn in the end zone with a two-yard run to tie the game up 7-7 in the second quarter.

A few notable players to watch are freshman quarterback Carson Beck, freshman tight end Brock Bowers and freshman cornerback Kelee Ringo. All have looked particularly good today.

Watch: Darnell ‘Big O’ Washington trucks defender on long run

Check out this huge catch and run from Georgia tight end Darnell Washington.

Georgia football is live right now on the ESPN app for its annual spring football game. Several Dawgs have made some great plays already, but this catch by tight end Darnell Washington takes the cake.

Washington is six-foot-7, 285 pounds and can flat run. It” like having an offensive lineman for a receiver. If offensive coordinator Todd Monken and quarterback J.T. Daniels can get the ball to him, SEC defenders may wind up on the ground.

Georgia football offers scholarship to massive 4-star DL Zxavian Harris

Georgia football has made its latest scholarship offer to Madison, Miss., defensive lineman Zxavian Harris. Details here.

Programs around the country are filling their recruiting boards after national signing day on Feb. 3 marked the end of the 2021 cycle.

Georgia football has made its latest scholarship offer in the class of 2022 to Madison, Miss., defensive lineman Zxavian Harris.

Harris is huge at 6-foot-eight, 330 pounds, and is rated as the No. 2 prospect in Mississippi, the No. 7 defensive tackle overall and the 96th ranked recruit in the class of 2022.

In 2019, as a sophomore, Harris earned 6A All-State honors for Germantown High School. He finished the season with 62 tackles, 8.5 sacks and 17 quarterback hurries.

In 2020, Harris racked up 48 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, four sacks and two forced fumbles.

Watch Harris’ junior highlights here.

Georgia currently holds eight commits in the class of 2022, which is rated as the No. 2 class in the nation behind Ohio State and the No. 1 class in the SEC.

Report: UGA Preseason All-SEC center Trey Hill out indefinitely

Georgia senior guard Trey Hill is sidelined indefinitely after undergoing two arthroscopic surgeries. Details here

According to a report from 247Sports that has since been confirmed by multiple sources, Georgia senior guard Trey Hill is sidelined indefinitely after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to repair minor injuries to both knees.

The news comes just a few days after the Bulldogs’ Preseason All-SEC  center was tabbed as the highest-graded interior lineman by Pro Football Focus after his performance in Georgia’s 45-16 win versus South Carolina.

Hill has been Georgia’s anchor at center for 22 straight starts, earning AP All-SEC 2nd team honors in 2019.

The Warner Robins, Georgia, native is out for the Bulldog’s matchup with Vanderbilt this Saturday and will likely miss the rest of the season including the Missouri makeup game that will either be played Dec. 12 or Dec 19 and bowl appearance.

Georgia can turn to sophomore guard Warren Ericson, who started the 2019 Sugar Bowl versus Baylor at center and has seen time at both right guard and center this season, or true freshman Sedric Van Pran, the top center prospect of the 2020 recruiting class.

If Hill was limited by these knee injuries, however minor they may be, it’s smart to clean up things through surgery now as he is set to enter the 2021 NFL Draft this spring.

I’ll miss watching Hill dominate defensive lines, but the Bulldogs should be in good hands with Ericson and Van Pran moving forward.

Here’s a look back at one of Hill’s best plays versus South Carolina last week.

Pro Football Focus tabs UGA’s Trey Hill as highest graded interior lineman in CFB

UGA center Trey Hill was named the highest-graded interior offensive lineman in college football for week 13 by Pro Football Focus (PFF).

[jwplayer BWcR1Fwo]

Georgia’s offensive line turned heads in their performance vs. South Carolina on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs rushed for 336 yards and four touchdowns on the way to a 45-16 win in Columbia.

Senior guard Ben Cleveland was named SEC Lineman of the Week while senior center Trey Hill was named the highest-graded interior offensive lineman in college football for week 13 by Pro Football Focus (PFF).

It should be noted that the Gamecocks were down several defensive starters, including Kinsley Enagbare, the SEC’s leader in sacks, but the way Hill played from his center position was awesome to watch and it should boost his NFL Draft stock.

Watch Hill blow a couple of South Carolina defenders off the line to spring running back James Cook for a long run.

It was great to see this Bulldogs offensive line get back on track after just eight yards rushing vs. Mississippi State in week 12.

The No. 9 Bulldogs (6-2) are back in action this Saturday in Athens vs. Vanderbilt (0-8). Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET on SEC Network.

A look at this week’s SEC football schedule

It’s week 14 of the 2020 college football season. Here’s the SEC slate for this weekend. Details and analysis here.

It’s week 14 of the 2020 college football season.

No. 9 Georgia (6-2) is scheduled to face a winless Vanderbilt on Saturday in Athens.

The Commodores will be without their head coach Derek Mason after he was fired following Vandy’s 41-0 loss to Missouri last week.

We’re just a little over two weeks away from the SEC Championship on Dec. 19 and as the playoff picture begins to take shape, the pressure is on.

Here’s what the SEC slate looks like for this Saturday, December 5.

  • No. 5 Texas A&M at No. 22 Auburn at noon ET on ESPN
  • Arkansas at Missouri at noon ET on SEC Network
  • No. 6 Florida at Tennessee at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS
  • Vanderbilt at No. 9 Georgia at 4:00 p.m. ET on SEC Network
  • South Carolina at Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network
  • No. 1 Alabama at LSU at 8:00 p.m. ET on CBS

I’m keeping my eye on Texas A&M headed to Auburn as the Tigers have a knack for home upsets – just ask Alabama.

And speaking of the Tide, the No. 1 team in the land goes to Death Valley in a night game to avenge a loss to the Tigers and Joe Burrow last year.

Fun weekend of college football ahead of us!

Georgia guard Ben Cleveland named SEC Lineman of the Week

UGA guard Ben Cleveland has been named the Southeastern Conference Lineman of the Week after Georgia’s 45-16 win at South Carolina.

Fifth-year senior guard Ben Cleveland has been named the Southeastern Conference Lineman of the Week after his dominating performance in Georgia’s 45-16 win at South Carolina on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs rushed for 332 yards and four touchdowns vs. the Gamecocks.

This marks the second time this season that Cleveland has received the honor (Auburn) and the eighth award given to the Bulldogs this year.

Cleveland is the most experienced lineman on Georgia’s roster and a powerhouse at 6 foot 6, 335 pounds.

The Toccoa, Georgia native decided to stay in Athens for the 2020 season after missing some time in 2018 and 2019 with injuries.

Cleveland’s decision to stay has paid off as he recently accepted an invitation to the Reese’s Senior Bowl, joining teammates Malik Herring and Tre McKitty.

The annual showcase is pivotal for guys like Cleveland who look to improve their draft potential ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft in late April.
