Watch Jake Bobo score TD in Seahawks royal blue throwbacks

Seattle Seahawks fans are excited to watch their squad don their royal blue throwback uniform in Sunday’s Week 1 contest against the Denver Broncos. Bias aside, it’s arguably the best jersey combination in the entire National Football League. What a way to celebrate the 2024 campaign kickoff!

The Seahawks’ social media team is equally as excited. The announcement was followed up by a social clip of sophomore wide receiver Jake Bobo scoring the first touchdown in the lovely royal blues. Bobo found the end zone after going in motion and taking the handoff from quarterback Geno Smith.

The 12th Man will provide a raucous atmosphere at Lumen Field on Sunday. Rocking the royal blues versus Denver is particularly fitting because the Broncos were Seattle’s former AFC West rival from 1977-2001. This will also mark the second time in the previous three years the Seahawks will open the NFL season against the Broncos while wearing an alternate uniform. In 2022, Seattle hosted Denver on Monday Night Football while wearing their all Action Green uniform.

The Seahawks are slated to wear their throwback uniform for a second time against their NFC West rival San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football in Week 6. That impending showdown will be old school versus old school, with the 49ers planning to wear their all-white throwback uniforms.

The Seahawks went 1-1 in 2023 in two games rocking the throwbacks. Seattle defeated the Cleveland Browns in their Week 8 showdown, outlasting them 24-20. Unfortunately, Seattle fell 41-35 to the Dallas Cowboys in their second and final throwback outing. The Seahawks will attempt to begin the 2024 regular-season campaign on the appropriate foot with a victory over the Broncos.

While the final score is tough to look at, the same can’t be said for Seattle’s theads.

Walter Jones agrees: Seahawks should make throwbacks permanent

Seattle’s GOAT – former left tackle Walter Jones – agrees.

On Sunday the Seattle Seahawks will be wearing their gorgeous throwback uniforms as they host the Cleveland Browns at Lumen Field. We also got confirmation last night that they’ll be wearing them again for their Week 13 Thursday night game against the Dallas Cowboys.

While the team’s current uniforms are better than average, we have a distinct feeling that once fans see the Seahawks in their apple green and royal blues they won’t want them to ever wear any other combination. Most people seem to agree. Yesterday future Hall of Famer J.J. Watt shared a message on Twitter imploring the Seahawks to make the throwbacks their permanent uniforms. The man who is arguably Seattle’s greatest player in franchise history – former left tackle Walter Jones – doubled down on the sentiment.

Make it so.

Everyone loves the new Seahawks throwback jerseys, some want more

Here’s what folks are saying about Seattle’s glorious new threads.

Yesterday the Seattle Seahawks revealed their glorious new alternate uniform – a refurbished version of their bold green, blue and silver look from the 80s and 90s. As expected, the throwbacks are a hit. On Twitter the reviews for the new look are almost universally positive – no small feat on a social media site that thrives on misery and lies.

In fact, while the Seahawks are scheduled to wear them Week 8 against the Cleveland Browns and again Week 13 against the Dallas Cowboys, they’re so popular that a lot of people want to see the team adopt the throwbacks as their full-time uniforms. There’s even a petition for the team to wear them their first game of the season.

Here’s what folks are saying about Seattle’s glorious new threads.

WATCH: Seahawks officially unveil throwback uniforms for 2023

At long last, the wait is finally over!

Seahawks fans, the wait is finally over! After announcing last year the beloved royal blue throwbacks would finally be making a comeback in 2023, Seattle has been slowly rolling out information regarding the threads. Fans hadn’t even seen a glimpse of them… until now, that is!

On Wednesday morning, bright and early, the Seahawks unveiled their iconic throwback uniforms in a creative 90’s-themed video with first round pick Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Although Seattle is marketing these as a throwback to the 1990’s – as 90’s nostalgia is high these days – the Seahawks wore these uniforms in every decade until 2001. They will officially make their 2023 debut in Week 8 against the Cleveland Browns.

Yesterday the Seattle Seahawks announced that they will be wearing their awesome and overwhelmingly popular throwback uniforms during their Week 8 matchup with the Cleveland Browns.

A while later, Bob Condotta at the Seattle Times reported that they will also wear them for their Week 13 matchup with the Cowboys in Dallas.

The fashion will be only one draw of many for this game, which could turn out to be a critical one in the NFC playoff race.

With the 49ers and the Eagles heavy favorites in their respective divisions, Dallas and Seattle will likely both be competing for one of the conference’s two wild card spots. These teams are also pretty evenly-matched on paper. In our recent June 1 offseason power rankings, we put the Seahawks at No. 10 in the league and the Cowboys only one spot lower at No. 11.

Seahawks throwback uniforms officially returning in 2023

Now they are set to make their triumphant return roughly 22 years later.

Seahawks fans, rejoice! For years, the 12th Man has clamored for the return of the classic Seahawks throwback uniforms worn by the team in their early decades of action. Now, it appears they will be getting their wish fulfilled next year.

During the first quarter of the game against the Raiders, the Seahawks announced the return of the classic throwback threads for the 2023 season.

Seattle wore the classic royal blue jerseys with silver pants and helmets from their inception in 1976 all the way to the 21st century, ending in the 2001 season. Aside from a few minor changes to the sleeves and facemask, this uniform combo remained largely unchanged and was the iconic look for Pacific Northwest football.

Now they are set to make their triumphant return roughly 22 years later. The Seahawks are finally able to do so thanks to a change in the NFL’s helmet policy. In 2021, the NFL ditched their rule of teams only having one set of helmets. Now teams can have two, as long as both sets meet the same safety requirements.

The one helmet requirement limited the Seahawks, as their primary navy helmet would not lend itself to be apart of an authentic throwback uniform. Now, Seattle can officially party like it’s 1976.
