Jerry West talks beef between Bulls’ Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen

NBA Hall-of-Famer Jerry West discussed the recent beef between Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.

The Chicago Bulls are one of the best franchises in the league, and it’s largely thanks to Michael Jordan, who, alongside Scottie Pippen, dominated an entire decade of NBA basketball. The duo won six championships in eight seasons in the 1990s, destroying any other team that got in their way.

However, in recent years, the relationship between the two stars has taken a turn for the worst. Ever since the release of “The Last Dance,” a documentary about Jordan, the Bulls, and their last season together as a dynasty, things have gotten ugly. Most recently, Pippen tore into Jordan, calling him “a horrible player.”

During a recent appearance on “Podcast P with Paul George,” NBA Hall-of-Famer Jerry West weighed in on the beef, admitting he doesn’t understand what happened with the two stars. (H/t Fadeaway World)

“Well, obviously, I know Michael well, but I don’t know Scottie that well. I don’t. But he’s always been very pleasant and very nice to me,” West said. “And I admired him tremendously as a player. He got better every year. He wasn’t somebody that just fell off a cliff. He was a really good player… If you look at a team [like the 1990s Bulls], you would think that those guys like that would have the most special relationship in the world. I just haven’t understood that [the beef].”

Obviously, the memories Jordan and Pippen gave to Bulls fans will live on forever, but at this point, their personal relationship may be beyond repair.

3-time Bulls champ hopes Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen ‘work it out’

Three-time Chicago Bulls champion Scott Williams wants to see Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen work things out amid their ongoing beef.

In the 1990s, the Chicago Bulls were on top of the world. Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen led them to six championships in eight seasons. Just a few years ago, “The Last Dance” came out – a documentary detailing the 90s Bulls and, more specifically, their last season and last championship together.

However, since then, Pippen and Jordan have been publicly beefing, with Pippen doing most of the talking. He recently called Jordan “a horrible player.” During a recent chat with HoopsHype, Scott Williams, who was a part of the first three Bulls title teams, spoke about the pair’s ongoing feud.

He said that he hopes Jordan and Pippen can sit down and work things out at some point, but he has no plans on getting in the middle of it all.

“Yeah, it’s been sad for my heart to really see and listen to some of the things that have been going on with Scottie. I don’t hear much from Michael. On Michael’s side, he just seems to be quiet on it. But Scottie is really upset, and I don’t particularly know 100 percent all of it. I just try to stay in my lane and let those heavyweights battle those types of things out, but I hope that they find some time to pick up a phone or sit down together and work it out.”

Williams doesn’t fully understand why Pippen was so upset at the documentary.

“I get it as Michael Jordan financed the documentary, and I’m sure he stirred a little bit towards himself because of that, but he gave Pippen the ultimate compliment that he was my favorite teammate of all time, and without Scottie I don’t win the six championships,” said Williams. “So I don’t understand what more he really wanted from Michael that Michael didn’t give him that is considered a slight. That’s the hard part for me on that one.”

For now, it seems like Jordan’s and Pippen’s beef will continue.

Bulls legend Scottie Pippen doesn’t think he’ll ever talk to Michael Jordan again

During a recent podcast appearance, Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen said he doesn’t think he’ll ever talk to Michael Jordan again.

In the 1990s, the Chicago Bulls were on top of the world. Led by Michael Jordan, they took home six NBA Championships, going undefeated in NBA Finals appearances. However, Jordan didn’t do it alone. Scottie Pippen was right by his side for every title run.

However, fast forward to the present day, and the two players aren’t very fond of one another. At least, Pippen isn’t fond of Jordan. During a recent appearance on Stacey King’s podcast, “Gimme the Hot Sauce,” Pippen had some very negative things to say about his former teammate, even going as far as saying he doesn’t think they’ll speak again.

When King asked Pippen if he thinks he’ll ever talk to Jordan again, the Bulls legend simply replied, “No, I don’t.” In addition, Pippen stated that Jordan was a “horrible player” before he joined the team and the dynasty was formed.

“I’ll leave that up for debate, because I don’t believe there’s a great player because our game’s a team game, and one player can’t do it,” said Pippen. “I saw Jordan play before I came to play with the Bulls. You guys saw him play. He was a horrible player. He was horrible to play with. He was all one-on-one, he’s shooting bad shots, and all of a sudden we become a team and we start winning and everybody forgot who he was.”

Jordan is widely regarded as the greatest player in the history of the NBA, but clearly, Pippen doesn’t think so. And with all the things he had to say about Jordan, his prediction of them never talking again is probably spot on.

Pippen: LeBron James ‘will be the greatest statistical guy’ in NBA history

Former Bulls star Scottie Pippen praised LeBron James while also throwing shade at former teammate Michael Jordan.

Former Chicago Bulls star and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen has been making some provocative statements lately. He  seemingly threw fellow Hall of Famer Michael Jordan under the bus, and he has also accused his former coach Phil Jackson of being racist.

The other day, he was at it again, making a statement that seemed an implied dig at Jordan while praising Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

The six-time NBA champion said James will end up as “the greatest statistical guy to ever play the game of basketball.” At the same time, he said that when he came to the Bulls in 1987, Jordan “was a horrible player” and that the world titles Chicago won made people forget about that (h/t Lakers Daily).

Was Pippen implying he thinks James is a greater player than Jordan, as he has in the past?

James, of course, became the NBA’s all-time leading career scorer this season and is climbing the statistical ladder in other categories as well. If he continues to play, he could have a shot at adding to his four NBA championships and strengthening his argument as one of the all-time greats.

Scottie Pippen ripped Michael Jordan as a “horrible player” in a comparison to LeBron James and it made everyone so sad

It sucks that Scottie Pippen hates Michael Jordan now

It’s been a tough last few years for folks who were fans of the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s.

This beef that has been brewing between Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan has just been downright unpleasant to watch. For those who don’t know, Pippen had a problem with The Last Dance documentary about Michael Jordan.

He didn’t like seeing Michael Jordan glorified in a way that didn’t also prop up his teammates. Pippen felt like he didn’t get enough credit for his contributions to the Bulls’ dominance back then. And, ever since the documentary aired, he hasn’t been shy about speaking up about that.

He did it again in a recent interview on Stacey King’s “Gimme The Hot Sauce” podcast where he was asked about the greatest basketball player of all time debate.

And, look, the GOAT debate is always exhausting. There are always different ways to break it down and argue different sides — especially between LeBron James and Jordan. That’s why no one ever talks about it anymore — we can save that for when LeBron finally stops playing basketball.

But Pippen decided to tackle it, anyway. And he did it in such a petty way by calling Michael Jordan out as a “horrible player” before Pippen joined the Bulls in 1987.

I’ve seen Michael play before I came to play with the Bulls. He was a horrible player. He was horrible to play with. He was all one-on-one. He was shooting bad shots. And, all of a sudden, we become a team and we start winning. Everybody forgot who he was.”

Sheesh, man. Scottie really isn’t rocking with Jordan right now. It’s one thing to say the Bulls weren’t the greatest team — but horrible? That’s a bit much. Jordan had already been a 3-time All-Star and the NBA’s scoring leader by then. He certainly wasn’t a “horrible” player.

Beyond that, though, it just stinks to see these two teammates who, by all accounts, were once friends now having a bit of a rift in this way. Especially since most of the smoke seems to be coming from Pippen himself.

Fans hated to see this.

Bulls’ Scottie Pippen slams Michael Jordan: ‘He was a horrible player’

According to Scottie Pippen, before the Chicago Bulls became a true team, Michael Jordan was “a horrible player.”

The 1990s were a beautiful time for the Chicago Bulls. They were on top of the world. Led by Michael Jordan, they won six championships and never lost in the NBA Finals. They dominated for nearly an entire decade. From 1990 to 1998, the only two years they didn’t win the title were when Jordan left the NBA to pursue a baseball career.

Jordan didn’t do it alone, though. He had Scottie Pippen by his side for every title, and the duo towered over the league. However, there is evidently no love lost between the two players. On Stacey King’s “Gimme The Hot Sauce” podcast, Pippen slammed his long-time teammate.

Pippen had some high praise for Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, calling him the best statistical player ever.

“LeBron will be the greatest statistical guy to ever play the game of basketball,” Pippen said. “And there’s no comparison to him. None. So does that make him the greatest player to ever play the game?”

He then went on to call Jordan a “horrible player.”

Jordan is widely regarded as the best player in the history of basketball, but according to Pippen, he was nothing before the Bulls became an effective team.

Twitter reacts to Scottie Pippen calling Michael Jordan a horrible player

Twitter reacts to Scottie Pippen calling Michael Jordan a horrible teammate and player.

Despite not saying a word, Michael Jordan’s name continues to stay in headlines, this time with former teammate Scottie Pippen calling out the former Tar Heel.

It’s no secret that since the “Last Dance” documentary dropped, Pippen has not been too fond of Jordan, finding ways to take shots at him. Once again, the opportunity presented itself for Pippen to discuss Jordan in an interview on Stacey King’s podcast.

Pippen hyped Lebron James, using his stats as a reason he should be labeled as the greatest basketball player of all time. Then, Pippen pivoted to take a shot at Jordan, calling him a horrible player. He backed up the statement by going into Jordan’s struggles before he arrived in Chicago and the bad shots taken in games.

The harsh words provoked quite a reaction as basketball fans dissected what Pippen had said, sparking the LeBron versus Jordan debate once again.

Let’s see how Twitter reacted to Pippen’s comments about Jordan.

Eight ACC players selected for Portsmouth Invitational Tournament

Two recent Notre Dame players could have an NBA shot.

There are several avenues for NBA hopefuls to make it to the league. One of the better-known ones is the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, which is open only to recent college seniors. This is the oldest amateur tournament in the country, so it carries some weight.

The tournament doesn’t generate NBA draft picks every year, but Tyrese Martin ended a four-year drought when he became a second-round selection in 2022. [autotag]Pat Connaughton[/autotag] was drafted after taking part in the 2015 tournament. Other notable tournament alumni include Jimmy Butler, Tim Hardaway, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, John Stockton, Dave Cowens, Earl Monroe and Rick Barry.

This year, eight recent ACC seniors have the opportunity to compete in the tournament. While there aren’t any guarantees for what happens afterwards, it’s a great way to get noticed by scouts. Here are the players who represented the ACC during the past season and will get a good look by folks who know the professional game well:

High School Basketball Recap: Bronny James’ team beats Kiyan Anthony’s, 62-51

Here’s how the two young players performed and who else stood out.

On Monday night, the sons of two NBA legends met on the court, with Bronny James and the Sierra Canyon (Calif.) taking on Kiyan Anthony and Christ the King (NY.). For a high school basketball game, it drew some real Hollywood star power. Broadcast on ESPN2, the game naturally drew stars like LeBron James and Scottie Pippen, but Kim Kardashian was also spotted in the crowd.

In the end, the Bronny’s Trailblazers beat Kiyan’s Royals, 62-51. Here’s how the two young players performed and who else stood out.

Bronny James:

Bronny’s biggest highlight of the game was in the first quarter on a breakaway steal and dunk, which brought on a lofty LeBron comparison:

This lefty windmill layup late in the third quarter may have been his most impressive play, though.

Later on, Bronny threw down an alley-oop to ignite the crowd. While Bronny does not look like a natural shooter at this time, he is already a potent finisher on the break and a sharp facilitator.

In the end, James finished with a line of 12 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Other Sierra Canyon standouts:

Justin Pippen (Scottie’s son) flashed some sharp ball-handling and shooting chops. However, shooting guard Isaiah Elohim looked like the best player on the floor as he scored a team-high 17 points. That befits his status as a five-star recruit and the No. 1 prospect in California in the class of 2024. He already has 11 college offers.

Kiyan Anthony:

Anthony didn’t get as much attention compared to Bronny. On the bright side, he’s a much better shooter. His first basket was a catch-and-shoot three from the corner early in the second quarter. His jumper has a quick release and excellent form with tons of range, not unlike Melo’s.

He has a spooky-high ceiling from deep.

Anthony finished with eight points, two boards and two assists.

Other Christ the King standouts:

Power forward Qin Pang was superb in the first half. He impressed with his power on cuts and screens; he moved well without the ball and demonstrated a surprisingly soft touch for his size (6-foot-9, 230 pounds). A tough spin robbed him of a three just before halftime. Pang has 11 offers, including Michigan, Oregon and UCLA.

Sierra Canyon is now 7-1 this year. Their next matchup will be visiting LeBron’s alma mater St. Vincent-St. Mary (Ohio) on Saturday. Meanwhile, Christ the King is 2-2 and hosts St. Francis Prep (NY) on Tuesday, Dec. 20.
