Air Force at San Jose State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Air Force at San Jose State odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Air Force Falcons (12-8, 3-4 MWC) and San Jose State Spartans (12-8, 3-4) meet Tuesday for a Mountain West Conference tussle. The contest at Provident Credit Union Event Center will tip off at 10 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Air Force vs. San Jose State odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Air Force is coming off a 70-60 loss at home to San Diego State Saturday. The Falcons were 9-point underdogs and played the talented Aztecs tough but were outscored 22-4 at the free-throw line to see their 3-game win streak (straight up and against the spread) snapped. Air Force is 3-1 over its last 4 games on the road.

The Spartans lost 75-74 at Utah State Saturday and are 1-4 across their last 5 outings. SJSU actually led most of the game despite being an 11.5-point underdog. A feast-or-famine 3-point game was on target for San Jose: the Spartans hit 10 triples in 22 attempts (45.5%).

Air Force at San Jose State picks and predictions

Prediction

San Jose State 64, Air Force 62

Moneyline

The moneyline was OTB at the time of publishing. Focus on the spread instead.

Against the spread

The Falcons are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 road games and are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games that follow a double-digit loss at home. The underdog has won 6 in a row in this series.

Frequent launchers from distance (77th in the nation in 3-point frequency), the Spartans have managed to not file a single-game accuracy mark between 27-40% in their last 11 games. Mix in an Air Force squad that ranks in the nation’s top 10 in 3-point defense (28.1%), and there is much to question in that area of SJSU’s game.

In what figures as a slow-paced contest, back the FALCONS +3.5 (-110).

Over/Under

A plodding pace figures to deliver a game in the 120s. This total looks solid: PASS.

San Jose State at Colorado State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s San Jose State at Colorado State odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The San Jose State Spartans (10-4, 1-0 Mountain West) battle the Colorado State Rams (8-6, 0-1) Saturday. Tip from Moby Arena in Fort Collins, Colo., is set for 4 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the San Jose State vs. Colorado State odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

San Jose State beat UNLV 75-72 in overtime Wednesday, covering as a 5-point home underdog. The Spartans are a solid 9-4 against the spread (ATS) this season and have covered 5 straight games. Their strength is defense as they rank 51st in opponents’ field goal percentage (39.7%).

Colorado State lost 88-69 at New Mexico Wednesday, taking a 49-24 deficit into the half and failing to cover as a 5.5-point road underdog. The Rams are 5-8 ATS on the season but are 6-1 straight up at home. They are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games with a spread. Colorado State ranks 10th in field goal percentage (50.2%).

  • Moneyline (ML): San Jose State +325 (bet $100 to win $325) | Colorado State -450 (bet $450 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): San Jose State +9.5 (-115) | Colorado State -9.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 133.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

San Jose State at Colorado State picks and predictions

Prediction

Colorado State 68, San Jose State 62

Moneyline

PASS.

Colorado State (-450) is 6-1 at home while San Jose State is 2-2 on the road, but you shouldn’t risk 4 1/2 times your return on a single bet. Stay away from the moneyline.

Against the spread

BET SAN JOSE STATE +9.5 (-115).

San Jose State is 9-4 ATS on the season. Despite being 2-2 straight up on the road, it is 3-1 ATS on the road. It was an underdog in all 4 road matches and only failed to cover as a 20-point road underdog to then-No. 11 Arkansas in a 99-58 loss on Dec. 3. The Spartans rank 94th in opponents’ points per game (65.2) which should help them keep this game within single digits.

The Rams are 6-1 straight up at home this season but just 5-8 ATS on the season and 3-3 ATS at home. Colorado State’s defense should help the Spartans keep this close as it sits just 234th in opponents’ field goal percentage (43.6%).

Combine it all and back SAN JOSE STATE +9.5 (-115).

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 133.5 (-110).

Colorado State has one of the most efficient offenses in the nation, ranking 10th in field goal percentage (50.2%). It should be able to continue to score enough to aid the Over. It is also 4-2 O/U in its last 6 games with a total and is 6-6-1 O/U this season.

San Jose State is 6-7 O/U on the year and 5-5 O/U in its last 10 outings. It ranks 128th in field goal percentage (45.9%) which, while not terrific, should be enough to help this Over.

Both teams have efficient attacks that should let you play the OVER 133.5 (-110) for a partial unit.

Colorado State at San Jose State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Colorado State Rams at San Jose State Spartans odds and lines, with college football expert picks and predictions.

The Colorado State Rams (2-6, 2-2 Mountain West) and San Jose State Spartans (5-2, 3-1) meet Saturday night. Kickoff at CEFCU Stadium is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET (MW Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Colorado State vs. San Jose State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Colorado State is playing the back half of its only road back-to-back this season. As 26-point underdogs, the Rams lost 49-10 at Boise State last Saturday. CSU had just 3 rushing yards and 170 total yards in that setback. At 255.0 total yards per game, the Rams rank 128th in the nation.

The Spartans earned an emotional 35-28 home win over Nevada Saturday. San Jose State had its Week 8 game postponed after the death of a player in a traffic accident. In its return to action, SJSU threw for a season-high 340 yards in winning for the 4th time in its last 5 games.

Colorado State at San Jose State picks and predictions

Prediction

San Jose State 31, Colorado State 10

Moneyline

On their board. Off yours. PASS.

Against the spread

The Spartans are a lean to win by more than 3 scores. But a low-total — and a lean on the Under — bring a 4-score win into question. An exceptionably loose turnover game could have SJSU up 21 at half, but there is just enough respect for CSU’s pass defense (decent below the surface) and the chance the Spartans look past the Rams in this game. AVOID.

Over/Under

San Jose State is stout against the run, locked-up tight against the pass and adept in creating havoc and turnovers. Both teams play at a below-average pace as far as number of plays. And Colorado State could well be held to 10 points or less in this game.

BACK THE UNDER 45.5 (-117).

UNLV at San Jose State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s UNLV Rebels at San Jose State Spartans odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The UNLV Rebels (4-1, 2-0 MWC) and San Jose State Spartans (3-1, 1-0 MWC) meet Friday at CEFCU Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the UNLV vs. San Jose State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

UNLV QB Doug Brumfield finished with 233 yards passing and rushed for a TD in a 31-20 win last Friday vs. the New Mexico Lobos. The Rebels trailed 17-0 in the 2nd quarter before scoring 24 unanswered points, but still failed to cover the full-game spread as 14-point favorites.

UNLV is 4-1 against the spread (ATS) this season.

San Jose State covered the spread as a 2.5-point favorite in a 33-16 win at the Wyoming Cowboys Saturday. Spartans QB Chevan Cordeiro threw for 314 yards and 1 TD and rushed for 2 more in their Mountain West Conference opener. Cordeiro went 21-of-37 passing as San Jose State improved to 3-1 ATS on the season.

UNLV at San Jose State picks and predictions

Prediction

San Jose State 34, UNLV 24

Moneyline

PASS.

San Jose State (-250) moneyline is a little pricey in this spot. The spread and the total are the better bets.

Against the spread

BET SAN JOSE STATE -6.5 (-110).

This line opened around -4 at most books and has continued to rise as the market has decided that San Jose State is the much better team in this game. With the West Division lead on the line, Cordeiro should continue to impress as a dual-threat QB and give UNLV’s defense fits. Lay the points as San Jose State wins by more than a TD.

Over/Under

BET OVER 51.5 (-115).

The Over is 4-1 in UNLV’s last 5 games vs. teams with a winning record. UNLV’s defense has looked good vs. weaker competition in its last 3 games but will struggle to contain Cordeiro. The Over is 3-1 in their last 4 meetings and should hit again as San Jose State piles up the points at home to take the lead in the West Division.

Fresno State at San Jose State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Fresno State at San Jose State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Fresno State Bulldogs (8-3, 5-2 MWC) travel to CEFCU Stadium for a Thanksgiving Day game against the San Jose State Spartans (5-6, 3-4) Thursday. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Fresno State vs. San Jose State odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Spartans are 3-2 at home this season, so their main struggles have been on the road. San Jose is 5-6 against the spread (ATS) and 6-5 on the over/under (O/U).

Fresno State has rewarded bettors with a 7-4 ATS record this season. The Bulldogs rely heavily on the nation’s 9th-best aerial attack that registers 328.5 yards per game. Fresno State is 5-6 O/U.

Fresno State at San Jose State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Fresno State 34, San Jose State 24

Money line

PASS on the money line.

I don’t quite envision an upset, but Fresno State backers should still be reluctant to take -290 odds.

Against the spread

BET on FRESNO STATE -7.5 (-102) was it’s getting the less juice, yet the Bulldogs appear to be the better side.

San Jose’s defense may not be able to stop the passing game as it ranks just 63rd in the county in passing yards allowed per game with 225.9.

Fresno State has the way more impressive schedule as well, taking down San Diego State by 10, UCLA by 3 and losing to Oregon by just 7.

Given fans should be as confident in what San Jose’s 5-6 record shows, I’d back the team that’s looked better and should be able to move the ball with ease.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the OVER 52.5 (-107) as San Jose’s offense can also pass at a capable rate, and its turnovers have been limited this season.

Hanging onto the ball is crucial to both staying in games and racking up the points and both teams do a good job with that and have recorded 12 or fewer turnovers.

Both defenses give up around 21 points per game, yet Fresno State’s pace-pushing offense puts up 33 points per game.

Given this should be a high-volume game in terms of passing, I’d lean towards the over for a small unit.

San Jose State at UNLV odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s San Jose State Spartans at UNLV Rebels odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The San Jose State Spartans (3-4, 1-2 Mountain West) travel to meet the UNLV Rebels (0-6, 0-2) Thursday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the San Jose State vs. UNLV odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

The Spartans are coming off a 19-13 overtime loss as 9-point home underdogs against a ranked San Diego State team. The cover snapped an 0-5 against the spread (ATS) skid. QB Nick Starkel (arm injury) hasn’t played since exiting the Western Michigan game Sept. 25. The offense has averaged just 13.5 points per game (PPG) across the past two games.

The Rebels put up a tremendous fight at home against Utah State, falling just 28-24 as 7.5-point underdogs. UNLV might be winless, but it has covered three in a row and five of six overall. The Under is 4-1 across the past five outings.

San Jose State at UNLV odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

San Jose State 27, UNLV 16

Money line

San Jose State (-210) will cost you more than two times your potential return, and that’s risky business. There is no certainty that Starkel will be able to return from his three-game absence. Against a winless UNLV team, the Spartans might not feel the need to risk Starkel aggravating his ailment.

AVOID and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

SAN JOSE STATE -4.5 (-108) is the play with or without Starkel. QB Nick Nash did a decent enough job as the replacement against New Mexico State, a bad team. He should be able to steer the Spartans offense to the victory if Starkel isn’t quite ready against another bad team.

Over/Under

UNDER 46.5 (-112) is the best bet as the San Jose State D has really picked up the pace while the offense is dealing with an injury to its field general. The Spartans allowed just 19 points in the OT loss to San Diego State, and they held Western Michigan to 23 and Hawaii to just 13. They also did a decent job against USC, yielding just 30 points in the Coliseum.

San Jose State should be able to throw a blanket on this flagging UNLV offense.

San Diego State at San Jose State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s San Diego State Aztecs at San Jose State Spartans odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 24 San Diego State Aztecs (5-0, 1-0 MWC) and San Jose State Spartans (3-3, 1-1) meet for a Friday MWC West Division tilt at 10:30 p.m. ET at CEFCU Stadium. Below, we look at the San Diego State vs. San Jose State odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

San Diego State has a couple Pac-12 wins (against Arizona and Utah) under its belt. Now, the Aztecs head on the road for the first time since Sept. 11. SDSU’s defense has been its trademark in the undefeated run of wins. The Aztecs have held three of their last four opponents under 300 total yards. For the season, their 270.4 yards allowed per game rank sixth in the nation.

The Spartans have had all kinds of problems on offense. A program that ranked 36th in total yards a season ago has cranked out just 333.5 yards per game (114th) in 2021. Last time out, SJSU lost at Colorado State 31-14 Oct. 9. The Spartans’ two touchdowns came on one short-field drive and one garbage-time score.

San Diego State at San Jose State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

San Diego State 23, San Jose State 14

Money line

PASS on the juice-drowned tags here. San Jose State is a bit of a contrarian lean, but on the money line, it’d take a price of +350 or better to make for some decent value.

Against the spread

Peg the Spartans – bad as their offense has been – as being worthy of a look here. SJSU is at -10 in turnover margin, and those miscues and some untimely plays have led to the Spartans losing three straight games by double digits in ATS margin. Against a strong defense and running game, expect some pushback from a San Jose squad that is 2-1 ATS in its last three games against San Diego State, including a 28-17 straight-up win last season.

TAKE SAN JOSE STATE +9.5 (-112).

Over/Under

The Under is 3-0 the last three head-to-head meetings and 6-1 in the last seven tilts. That’s the lean here. Look for the visitors to game control a grinding field-position-and-clock battle.

TAKE THE UNDER 40.5 (-105).

San Jose State at Colorado State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s San Jose State Spartans at Colorado State Rams odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The San Jose State Spartans (3-2, 1-0 MWC) meet the Colorado State Rams (1-3, 0-0) Saturday at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins, Colo. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the San Jose State vs. Colorado State odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

San Jose State QB Nick Starkel missed last weekend’s 37-31 win over New Mexico State due to a left arm injury and he remains questionable for this one. QB Nick Nash did a good job in his stead, tossing 3 touchdowns, but the defense was trampled. The Spartans have failed to cover four straight.

Colorado State had a bye week following its valiant effort at Iowa. The Rams fell 24-14 to the No. 3 team in the nation, easily covered the 24-point number. They’re 2-0 ATS in their last two, while the Under has hit in three in a row.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

San Jose State at Colorado State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Colorado State 26, San Jose State 22

Money line

COLORADO STATE (-150) is a good play at home, mostly due to the health of Starkel. If the starting quarterback for San Jose State is 100 percent healthy this probably goes a different way.

The Rams lost to FCS South Dakota State in their opener Sept. 3 and lost to a terrible Vanderbilt team at home the following week. However, they beat a good Toledo team on the road in Week 3 and played Iowa better than anybody else this season. They’re getting better, and it will show Saturday.

Against the spread

I just prefer the money line here, but COLORADO STATE -2.5 (-120) isn’t a huge risk as long as the line stays under a flat three. The Rams enter 2-2 ATS, but they’re 0-2 ATS as a favorite and at home.

The issue with San Jose State isn’t just under center. A horrific New Mexico State team moved the ball at will against the Spartans, and they might be tired after having traveled to Hawaii, then to Western Michigan, then home, and now to Fort Collins, all since Sept. 19. That will take the wind out of anybody’s sails.

Over/Under

The OVER 44.5 (-115) is the lean here. Yes, we have seen San Jose State hit the Under in three of its last four, while Colorado State enters on a 3-0 Under run.

This won’t be a video game-like affair with a lot of scoring, but the Over should just inch across the finish line in the fourth quarter, as San Jose State is obviously hitting a wall defensively right now.

San Jose State at USC odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s San Jose State Spartans at USC Trojans odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The San Jose State Spartans and USC Trojans will meet in the season opener at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the San Jose State at USC odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

This Golden State battle features two top-notch quarterbacks. San Jose State’s Nick Starkel and USC’s Kedon Slovis could put up some big numbers in this one.

Starkel will get to play behind an offensive line returning all five starters, helping to keep him upright. And he’ll have a nice one-two punch in the backfield with RBs Tyler Nevens and Kairee Robinson, as well as two top-tier receiving talents in TE Derrick Deese Jr. and WR Isaiah Hamilton.

Slovis is a Heisman hopeful, and if he can stay healthy, he has the chance to not only be the best quarterback in the Pac-12, but perhaps the best in the nation. The key is the offensive line, a unit that really struggled in 2020 allowing 15 sacks in just six games. They need to be much, much better.

San Jose State at USC odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

USC 38, San Jose State 27

Money line

USC (-700) will cost you seven times your potential return, and that’s very steep. San Jose State (+470) has a real chance to win this game outright, that’s how talented they are on offense.

AVOID.

Against the spread

SAN JOSE STATE +14.5 (-120) is a tremendous play, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the margin of victory be in the single digits. Starkel and the Spartans offense should have plenty of answers, even if they fall behind early.

Keep in mind, the Spartans are also 7-1-1 ATS across the past nine road games, and they’re an impressive 9-1-1 ATS in the previous 11 as an underdog on the road. Playing on the road in hostile territory doesn’t bother them.

Over/Under

OVER 59.5 (-105) is the best play on the board, and with quarterbacks the caliber of Starkel and Slovis, this has the potential to be a real shootout. Remember, USC’s secondary ranked seventh in pass efficiency defense in 2020, and Starkel could pick them apart.

Southern Utah at San Jose State odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Southern Utah at San Jose State matchup, with college football odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Southern Utah Thunderbirds and San Jose State Spartans begin the 2021 season Saturday at CEFCU Stadium in San Jose, Calif. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Southern Utah vs. San Jose State odds and lines, and make our best college football picks, predictions and bets.

Southern Utah, an FCS school, played a spring schedule from Feb. 27-April 10, going 1-5 SU. The Thunderbirds play the first of two games in a six-day span against a pair of FBS teams, also traveling to Arizona State on Thursday.

San Jose State is expected to challenge Nevada for the top spot in the MWC’s West Division. QB Nick Starkel is back under center, and the Spartans have a tremendous one-two punch with RBs Tyler Nevens and Kairee Robinson leading the charge. WR Isaiah Hamilton and TE Derrick Deese Jr. are big targets for Starkel, too.

Southern Utah at San Jose State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

San Jose State 51, Southern Utah 16

Money line

San Jose State (-2000) are huge favorites against Southern Utah (+900), who didn’t fare very well in the spring season. It is going to get a lot worse as SUU will have a difficult time trying to corral Starkel and friends.

Still, you cannot risk 20 times your potential return, or a $5 return on a bet of $100.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

Look to SAN JOSE STATE -24.5 (-108) for the cover. The Spartans should be able to roll up some huge numbers against their FCS opponent in this tune-up game. The Spartans led the Mountain West last season with 6.58 yards per play, and the Thunderbirds aren’t likely to offer up much in the way of resistance in this potential laugher.

It’s actually a bit surprising this number isn’t a lot higher. Take advantage.

Over/Under

The OVER 56.5 (-108) is a good bet, and San Jose State has the potential to take care of it all on their own. SUU did some good things on offense in the spring season, albeit against lesser competition. They scored 26 or more points in five of their six games, but they also allowed 24 or more points in each of the past four.
