San Diego Padres at San Francisco Giants odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s San Diego Padres at San Francisco Giants odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The San Diego Padres (25-14) and San Francisco Giants (22-16) meet Saturday at 4:10 p.m. ET in the continuation of a 3-game series at Oracle Park. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Padres vs. Giants odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: tied 2-2.

The Padres won Friday’s series opener 8-7 in 10 innings. San Diego heads into this Saturday matinee having won 4 of its last 5.

Friday’s game snapped a 5-game home win streak for the Giants. San Francisco pitching was on fire early in the season with a 2.32 ERA through April 27 but has logged a 5.66 mark since.

Padres at Giants projected starters

RHP Joe Musgrove vs. LHP Carlos Rodon

Musgrove (4-0, 2.20 ERA) has logged a 0.93 WHIP, 1.2 BB/9 and 9.4 K/9 through 45 IP across 7 starts.

  • Clocked a 6.08 ERA while allowing an .898 OPS in 5 starts vs. San Francisco last season.
  • Averages 92 pitchers per start but has made 108 and 99 over his last 2 turns.

Rodon (4-2, 3.49 ERA) is tabbed for his 8th start. He has a 1.11 WHIP, 3.0 BB/9 and 13.0 K/9 through 38 2/3 IP.

  • Toted a 1.80 ERA into his last start but allowed 8 runs on 10 hits in 3 2/3 IP vs. the St. Louis Cardinals Sunday.
  • Owns a 2.12 ERA and 1.06 WHIP in 17 IP at home.

Padres at Giants picks and predictions

Prediction

Giants 4, Padres 2

Money line

Expect a bounce-back for Rodon after a couple of high-pitch efforts likely led to the rocky outing in his last turn. His overall numbers have some play because he’s pitched through a .345 batting average on balls in play.

The Giants’ 5.16 runs per game rank second in MLB, and the home nine has had its way in games against Musgrove. S.F. has been okay versus righties so far, but that’s with a .248 BABIP.

San Diego Padres at San Francisco Giants odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s San Diego Padres at San Francisco Giants odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The San Diego Padres (24-14) meet the San Francisco Giants (22-15) Friday at Oracle Park to open a 3-game set. First pitch is scheduled for 10:15 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Padres vs. Giants odds with MLB picks and predictions.

San Diego won the rubber match of a 3-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies Thursday 2-0 behind an SP Yu Darvish gem and is 6-4 overall in its last 10 games.

San Francisco is 7-3 overall in its last 10 games but 5 of those wins were against the Colorado Rockies with the other 2 victories coming against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Season series: San Francisco leads 2-1 and has outscored San Diego 17-7 in those meetings.

Padres at Giants projected starters

LHP Sean Manaea vs. RHP Jakob Junis

Manaea is 2-3 with a 3.77 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9 and 10.5 K/9 in 43 IP over 7 starts.

  • Last start: No-decision in 6-5 loss at the Atlanta Braves with 7 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 1 HR, 2 BB and 12 K.
  • 2022 vs. the Giants: Loss, 2-1, in San Francisco April 13 with 6 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 2 BB and 6 K.
  • vs. Giants on the current roster: 2.88 FIP with a .253/.310/.390 expected batting average, wOBA and slugging percentage slash line, 20.4 K% and 89.1 mph exit velocity in 93 plate appearances.

Junis is 1-1 with a 1.74 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 1.7 BB/9 and 7.8 K/9 in 20 2/3 IP over 2 starts and 2 relief appearances.

  • Last start: Loss, 4-0, at the St. Louis Cardinals Saturday with 5 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 1 HR, 1 BB and 3 K.

Padres at Giants picks and predictions

Prediction

Padres 4, Giants 2

Money line

LEAN to the PADRES (+105) because Manaea’s pitching peripherals suggest his record will improve and San Diego is 5-3 overall as a road underdog.

Only 1 of Manaea’s 4 pitches has a plus-run value and most of his swing-and-miss rates have increased year over year, according to Statcast. Manaea’s road ERA (2.70) and WHIP (0.86) are much better than his home marks (5.51 ERA, 1.53 WHIP).

There’s also a line freeze in the betting market since more than 70% of the cash is on the Giants, per Pregame.com, but the line hasn’t budged off the opener.

It’s only a LEAN PADRES (+105) because it hasn’t been profitable fading the Giants at home since the beginning of last season and San Francisco’s lineup has been much hotter at the plate over the past two weeks.

Win your fantasy baseball league with BaseballHQ.com. For decades, BHQ has been helping players just like you win! Use the couple code SBW22 for 20% OFF full-season subscription. New customer offer; expires 6/30/2022. Subscribe today and start winning!

Run line/Against the spread

PASS because the Padres +1.5 (-205) are too expensive even though San Diego is 7-1 RL as a home underdog and San Francisco is 6-11 RL as a home favorite. Those RL records are appropriately accounted for in the pricing and the Padres +1.5 (-205) isn’t a big enough lock vs. the price.

Over/Under

LEAN to the UNDER 7.5 (-110) only because the Over has cashed in 13 of the last 18 Padres-Giants meetings and the weather forecast is predicting double-digit mph winds blowing out to right-centerfield.

However, San Diego’s lineup is awful vs. right-handed pitching, ranking 22nd in wRC+ (88), 26th in wOBA (.285) and 18th in hard-hit rate (28.8%), according to FanGraphs.

Lastly, there’s a “Pros vs. Joe’s” scenario in the betting market since more money is on the Under but more bets have been placed on the Over. Since professional bettors put up more dough than the average Joe, the money column is considered the sharper side of the market.

For what it’s worth, the UNDER 7.5 (-110) is my favorite wager in the Padres-Giants game.

San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The San Francisco Giants (22-14) attempt to complete a 3-game sweep on the road in their series finale against the Colorado Rockies (17-19) Wednesday. First pitch is 3:10 p.m. ET at Coors Field. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Giants vs. Rockies odds with MLB picks and predictions.

The Giants lead the season series 5-0 so far this season.

The Giants won 7-6 Monday and 10-7 Tuesday in the first 2 games of the series and have won 8 of their last 10 games.

The Rockies have lost 3 straight contests and 8 or their last 9. They have even lost 4 of their last 5 at home.

Giants at Rockies projected starters

RHP Logan Webb vs. LHP Kyle Freeland

Webb (5-1, 3.48 ERA) makes his 8th start. He has a 1.33 WHIP, 2.4 BB/9 and 6.1 K/9 through 41 1/3 IP.

  • Has won his last 4 starts and the Giants are 6-1 when he pitched.
  • Allowed only 1 run on 3 hits and 3 walks with 1 strikeout across 6 innings against the St. Louis Cardinals Friday in his last start.

Freeland (1-4, 4.91 ERA) makes his 8th start. He has a 1.58 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 6.4 K/9 through 36 2/3 IP.

  • Was rocked for 8 runs (6 earned) on 12 hits and 2 walks across just 4 2/3 innings in a 14-10 loss to the Kanas City Royals Friday in his last start.
  • Had a streak of 4 starts in a row where he allowed 2 earned runs or fewer before his last outing. His ERA over those 23 innings was 1.57.

Giants at Rockies picks and predictions

Prediction

Giants 8, Rockies 6

Money line

The Giants have now won 12 consecutive games over the Rockies. They simply have their number.

While the Rockies started out looking fantastic at home, they have faltered recently as they’ve dropped 4 of their last 5 at Coors.

Freeland has pitched well for most of the season but the Rockies can’t seem to win for him and he does have a 6.66 home ERA this season.

As much as I like taking the positive odds for Rockies games, with how the Giants just seem to own them, I can’t today.

Take the GIANTS (-165).

Run line/Against the spread

The Giants are now 18-18 ATS on the season while the Rockies are 16-20 ATS.

Sixteen of the Giants’ last 18 victories were by 2 runs or more, while 17 of the Rockies’ 19 losses were by at least 2 runs.

If the Giants win and the Rockies lose, there is a good chance it will be by multiple runs.

Take the GIANTS -1.5 (-105).

Over/Under

All 5 games of the Rockies’ current homestand had 11 or more runs.

The Giants’ last 3 games and 6 of the last 10 have had at least 11 runs.

Freeland’s home ERA is 6.66.

Take OVER 10.5 (-120).

San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s San Francisco 49ers at Colorado Rockies odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The San Francisco Giants (21-14) are on the road to face the Colorado Rockies (17-18) Tuesday for the second game of their 3-game series. First pitch is set for 8:40 p.m. ET at Coors Field. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Giants vs. Rockies odds with MLB picks and predictions.

The Giants lead the season series 4-0.

San Francisco won the series opener 7-6 Monday. The win snapped a short 2-game losing skid, but the Giants have won 7 of their last 9 games.

The Rockies are 1-3 so far on their current homestand. They have lost 7 of their last 8 outings.

Giants at Rockies projected starters

RHP Alex Cobb vs. RHP Chad Kuhl

Cobb (2-1, 3.98 ERA) makes his 6th start. He has a 1.38 WHIP, 3.5 BB/9 and 12.4 K/9 through 20 1/3 IP.

  • Won 7-1 and picked up the victory after 1 run on 3 hits in 5 1/3 innings against these Rockies Wednesday.
  • Is making only his 2nd road start of the season.

Kuhl (3-1, 2.88 ERA) makes his 7th start. He has a 1.02 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9 and 7.9 K/9 through 34 1/3 IP.

  • Took the loss opposite Cobb Wednesday as he allowed 5 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks in 4 2/3 innings in his worst start of the season.
  • Has allowed 1 or fewer runs in 4 of his 6 starts.

Giants at Rockies picks and predictions

Prediction

Rockies 6, Giants 4

Money line

The Giants snapped a 2-game skid with a 7-6 win Monday. They have won 7 of their last 9 games but are 2-4 in their last 6 road games. They are 10-7 on the road.

Cobb lost his only start on the road this season.

The Rockies lost their first home series all season when they dropped 2 of 3 games to the Kansas City Royals over the weekend and, with their loss Monday, have uncharacteristically lost 3 of their last 4 home outings.

They are tied with the 3rd-most home wins in baseball with 12.

Expect a bounceback game, especially with Kuhl pitching, who has allowed 1 or 0 runs in 4 of his 6 starts this season.

Take ROCKIES (+130).

The Giants are 17-18 ATS this season, although they are 10-7 ATS on the road. They are 14-14 ATS as favorites.

The Rockies are 5-2 ATS as home underdogs.

My favorite wager is the money line for the payout, but taking the Rockies to cover gives you some room for error at a decent price.

Take ROCKIES +1.5 (-117).

Over/Under

All 4 games of the Rockies’ current homestand have had more than 10 runs.  In their last homestand, 4 of 6 games had 10 or more runs, the previous homestand saw 4 of 7 games exceed that number but just 1 of 3 contests in their opening home series.

However, none of Kuhl’s starts this season have had more than 10 runs.

Take UNDER 10.5 (+105).

San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s San Francisco Giants at Colorado Rockies odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The San Francisco Giants (20-14) head to Coors Field Monday to start a 3-game set with National League West co-tenant Colorado Rockies (17-17). First pitch is scheduled for 8:40 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Giants vs. Rockies odds with MLB picks and predictions.

San Francisco is 6-4 overall in the last 10 games but lost back-to-back road games at the St. Louis Cardinals Saturday and Sunday.

Colorado is 3-7 in the last 10 and has lost 6 of the last 7 games including the rubber match of a 3-game set with the Kansas City Royals 8-7 Sunday.

The Giants swept the Rockies 3-0 at home last week, and San Francisco outscored Colorado 24-8 in the 3-game series.

Giants at Rockies projected starters

LHP Alex Wood vs. LHP Antonio Senzatela

Wood is 3-2 with a 3.60 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 9.0 K/9 in 30 IP over 6 starts.

  • Last start: Win, 9-2, vs. the Rockies Tuesday with 5 1/3 IP, 7 H, 0 ER (1 R), 2 BB and 4 K.
  • vs. Rockies on the current roster: 2.75 FIP with a .283/.319/.399 expected batting average (xBA), wOBA (xwOBA), slugging percentage (xSLG) slash line, 20.3 K% and 85.1 mph exit velocity (EV) in 133 plate appearances (PA).

Senzatela is 2-2 with a 4.88 ERA, 1.95 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9 and 2.6 K/9 in 27 2/3 IP over 6 starts.

  • Last start: Loss, 9-2, at the Giants Tuesday with 3 2/3 IP, 5 ER, 7 H, 2 BB and 1 K.
  • vs. Giants on the current roster: 4.51 FIP with a .317/.396/.536 xBA-xwOBA-xSLG slash line, 13.8 K% and 90.0 mph EV in 109 PA.

Giants at Rockies picks and predictions

Prediction

Giants 9, Rockies 5

Money line

LEAN to the GIANTS (-150) only because this ML is a little pricey, and I’m confident enough in San Francisco to make an argument for the RL instead.

But, the Giants beat the Rockies (+122) last week with the same starting pitching matchup, and home-field advantage doesn’t make up the difference. In fact, San Francisco was 7-2 overall in Colorado last season and doubled up the Rockies in runs scored, 72-36.

The Giants’ bats are much hotter lately and there’s an ocean-sized gulf between the two bullpens. Over the past two weeks, San Francisco’s lineup ranks in the top-10 of WAR, wOBA, and wRC+ while Colorado’s lineup is 18th or worse in all of those metrics, according to FanGraphs.

Senzatela grades in the 6th percentile or worse in xBA-xwOBA-xSLG slash line and the 1st percentile in both K% and whiff rate, per Statcast. Also, Colorado’s bullpen has the second-worst xFIP, dead-last in both WHIP and ERA.

Run line/Against the spread

LEAN to the GIANTS -1.5 (+100) because they crushed the Rockies +1.5 (-120) in Colorado last season, and all of 7 of their wins at Coors Field in 2021 were by at least 2 runs.

Also, San Francisco is an MLB-best 8-2 RL as road favorites with a plus-1.1 RL margin and Colorado is 9-12 RL as underdogs.

Over/Under

Slight LEAN to the OVER 11.5 (-122) because Colorado is 6-0 O/U in Senzatela’s 6 starts, the Over cashed in the first 3 Giants-Rockies meetings this season and the Over is being steamed up by sharp line movement.

However, betting an Over at Coors Field is a little too predictable, and the hitter-friendly conditions in Colorado are accounted for in the line.

San Francisco Giants at St. Louis Cardinals odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s San Francisco Giants at St. Louis Cardinals odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The San Francisco Giants (20-13) play the third and final game of their 3-game road set against the St. Louis Cardinals (18-15) on ESPN Sunday Night Baseball to determine who earns the series win. First pitch is 7:08 p.m. ET at Busch Stadium. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Giants vs. Cardinals odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Tied 3-3. This is the final game between the two teams in the regular season.

The Giants had a 6-game winning streak snapped Saturday with a 4-0 loss. They have been streaky. Right before their 6-game winning streak, they lost 5 in a row and 7 of 8. Before that, they won 5 straight.

The Cardinals, with Saturday’s 4-0 victory, won for only the second time in their last 7 games. They split 4 games against the Giants in San Francisco last week and can clinch a season series win with a victory in this finale.

Giants at Cardinals projected starters

LHP Carlos Rodon vs. RHP Adam Wainwright

Rodon (4-1, 1.80 ERA) makes his 7th start. He has a 1.21 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9 and league-leading 13.6 K/9 through 35 IP.

  • Rodon has not yet allowed a home run this season.
  • He has not allowed more than 2 runs in any start this season. He has lasted 6 innings in each of his last 3 appearances.

Wainwright (3-3, 3.18 ERA) makes his 7th start. He has a 1.29 WHIP, 3.4 BB/9 and 7.4 K/9 through 34 IP.

  • The 17-year veteran is coming off his best start of the season. He pitched 7 shutout innings, allowing only 1 hit in a 10-0 victory at the Kansas City Royals May 4.
  • He is 8-8 in 19 career regular-season appearances (17 starts) against the Giants with a 3.34 ERA.

Giants at Cardinals picks and predictions

Prediction

Giants 4, Cardinals 2

Money line

Rodon has been so good this season. He has allowed 2 or fewer runs in every start this season and has lasted at least 5 innings every time.

The Cardinals, other than two single-game wins at home against Kansas City, have not won a home series this season.

These are two fantastic pitchers battling each other. Wainwright was fantastic in his last outing.

But I’m going to “lean” with the advantage to Rodon.

The Cardinals have a slight edge in bullpen ERA (3.17 vs. 3.46 for the Giants), but I LEAN GIANTS (-140).

Run line/Against the spread

Fifteen of the Giants’ last 16 victories have been by at least 2 runs. All 4 of their wins with Rodon starts have been by at least 2 runs.

Six of the Cardinals’ last 7 losses have been by at least 2 runs.

They are 9-8 at home, while the Giants are 9-6 on the road.

Take GIANTS -1.5 (+130).

Over/Under

Can you say pitchers’ duel? That is more or less what I expect in this matchup.

The Cardinals have scored 3 or fewer runs in 4 of their last 6 games.

Half of both Rodon’s and Wainwright’s 6 starts have had 6 runs or fewer.

I LEAN UNDER 6.5 (+112).

Colorado Rockies at San Francisco Giants odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Colorado Rockies at San Francisco Giants odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Colorado Rockies (16-14) conclude their 3-game road set with the San Francisco Giants (18-12) Wednesday. First pitch from Oracle Park is set for 3:45 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rockies vs. Giants odds with MLB picks and predictions.

The Giants have won the first 2 games of the season series. San Francisco clobbered Colorado 9-2 Tuesday.

Colorado won its first 2 road series of the year — a 2-0 sweep of the Texas Rangers and a 2-1 series victory over the Detroit Tigers — and it seemed that maybe this team had finally shaken the road woes it had suffered in previous years. However, the Rockies have proceeded to drop 8 of their last 9 contests away from Coors, and it seems old habits are rearing their head.

The Giants were mired in a 1-7 slump between April 27 and May 6, but have gotten back on track. San Francisco has won 4 straight, including the final 2 games of a series split with the St. Louis Cardinals and the opening 2 of this series. The Giants have scored 34 runs in the 4-game span.

Rockies at Giants projected starters

RHP Chad Kuhl vs. RHP Alex Cobb

Kuhl (3-0, 1.82 ERA) makes his 6th start. He has a 0.84 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 6.7 K/9 in 29 2/3 IP.

  • Allowed 1 ER on 3 H and 2 BB with 5 K in 6 IP in his last start Friday at the Arizona Cardinals.
  • Despite showing some improvement in the early season he has also benefited from a below-average BABIP (.179) and above-average LOB% (85.6) leading to a 3.84 xFIP and 2.89 xERA.

Cobb (1-1, 4.80 ERA) makes his 5th start. He has a 1.53 WHIP, 3.6 BB/9 and 13.2 K/9 in 15 IP.

  • Allowed 2 ER on 3 H and 1 BB with 8 K in 5 IP Friday vs. St. Louis.
  • Has been hampered by a .400 BABIP and 46.3% LOB% while actually sporting a 1.24 xERA and 2.04 xFIP.

Rockies at Giants picks and predictions

Prediction

Giants 5, Rockies 3

Money line

Cobb has been better than his surface numbers indicate and Kuhl has been perhaps a bit worse, so some regression to the mean may be in play for both of them.

Unfortunately, the value is drowned out here on the Rockies (-220) for a suitable single bet. PASS.

There is some risk here that the starting pitching numbers continue on the trend they’ve been on to start the year for both sides, but other considerations come into play here as well.

Colorado finds itself in the familiar position of being a below-average road team at the plate. The Rockies are in the bottom half of the league in OPS, wOBA and wRC+ away from Coors Field. The Giants are a top 10 team in those metrics at Oracle.

The Rockies also have one of the worst bullpens in the league, while the Giants’ backend comes in well-rested. Take the GIANTS -1.5 (+105) for some plus-money value.

Over/Under

This is a very low number and should be getable. Kuhl is tossing beyond his means and has a weak bullpen to back him up, and Cobb has given up a couple of runs to every team he’s faced. There’s a wind going to be blowing out on a nice sunny day in San Francisco and this game should get to the OVER 7.5 (-102).

Colorado Rockies at San Francisco Giants odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Colorado Rockies at San Francisco Giants odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Colorado Rockies (16-12) visit Oracle Park Monday to start a 3-game series with the San Francisco Giants (16-12) at 9:45 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rockies vs. Giants odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Colorado lost a 3-game series rubber match Sunday vs. the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-0 and is 6-4 overall in its last 10 games.

San Francisco beat the St. Louis Cardinals in back-to-back games Saturday and Sunday to split their 4-game series but the Giants are just 3-7 overall in their last 10 games.

The Giants won 15 of their 19 meetings with the Rockies in 2021 and had a plus-65 run differential in their season series.

Rockies at Giants projected starters

LHP Austin Gomber vs. LHP Carlos Rodon

Gomber is 2-2 with a 3.58 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 2.6 BB/9 and 8.5 K/9 across 27 2/3 IP over 5 starts. He got a win in Colorado’s 5-2 victory vs. the Washington Nationals Wednesday with 6 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 7 H, 1 HR, 1 BB and 6 K.

  • 2021 vs. Giants: 0-3 with a 12.00 ERA (12 IP, 16 ER), 15 H, 11 BB and 10 K in 3 starts.
  • vs. Giants on the current roster: 4.95 FIP with a .223/.300/.352 expected batting average (xBA), wOBA (xwOBA) and slugging percentage (xSLG) slash line, 17.5 K% and 90.6 mph exit velocity (EV) in 40 plate appearances (PA).

Rodon is 3-1 with a 1.55 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, 3.1 BB/9 and 12.7 K/9 over 29 IP across 5 starts. He lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1 Tuesday with 6 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 2 BB and 3 K.

  • vs. Rockies on the current roster: 3.81 FIP with a .230/.298/.449 xBA-xwOBA-xSLG slash line, 31.6 K% and 85.4 mph EV in 38 PA.

Rockies at Giants picks and predictions

Prediction

Giants 5, Rockies 1

Money line

PASS because baseball is too flukey of a game to lay -250 with any regular-season ML favorite.

San Francisco dominated Colorado last season but the difference between these two teams is accurately reflected in this line.

LEAN to the GIANTS -1.5 (-110) only because they are 3-11 RL as home favorites with a minus-1.9 RL margin.

However, the Rockies cannot hit away from Coors Field, and Colorado’s lineup ranks dead-last in both wRC+ (75) and wOBA (.283) and 29th in hard-hit rate (28.4%), per FanGraphs.

Rodon is also pitching at a Cy Young-caliber in his first year in San Francisco. He grades in the 92nd percentile or better in xBA, xwOBA, xSLG and K%, according to Statcast.

The most important factor in my LEAN to the GIANTS -1.5 (-110) is the discrepancy in relief pitching. Colorado’s bullpen ranks 28th in xFIP (4.28), 29th in WHIP (1.45) and 24th in hard-hit rate (41.0%).

Over/Under

PASS with a “lean” to the Under 6.5 (+105) since Colorado’s lineup cannot hit on the road, Rodon has been one of the best starters in baseball over the past 2 seasons and the Giants have scored 3 or fewer runs in 3 of their 5 games against left-handed starters.

However, I don’t have a strong enough grasp on the total and I don’t trust the Rockies’ bullpen.

St. Louis Cardinals at San Francisco Giants odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s St. Louis Cardinals at San Francisco Giants odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The St. Louis Cardinals (16-10) continue their 4-game series with the San Francisco Giants (14-12) Saturday at Oracle Park. First pitch scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Cardinals vs. Giants odds with MLB picks and predictions.

The Cardinals won the first 2 games of this series: 7-1 Thursday and 3-2 Friday. St. Louis’s bullpen has been stellar vs. San Francisco, working 8-scoreless IP with 7 H, 0 BB and 6 K.

Cardinals at Giants projected starters

LHP Steven Matz vs. RHP Logan Webb

Matz (3-1, 4.56 ERA) beat the Kansas City Royals Monday 1-0, throwing 6 IP with 4 H, 0 BB and 4 K.

  • He has a 2.11 FIP, 1.44 WHIP and 10.3 K/9 in 23 2/3 IP over 5 starts.

Webb (3-1, 3.26 ERA) beat the Washington Nationals 9-3 last Saturday, throwing 6 IP, allowing 3 ER on 11 H and 1 BB with 3 K.

  • Has a 2.78 FIP, 1.29 WHIP and 5.9 K/9 in 30 1/3 IP across 5 starts.
  • 2021 vs. Cardinals: One start — a no-decision in a 7-2 Giants road victory July 16 with 4 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 1 BB and 2 K.

Cardinals at Giants picks and predictions

Prediction

Cardinals 4, Giants 2

Money line

BET the CARDINALS (+110) for 1.25 units for a plethora of reasons.

The Giants have a 3-1 overall record vs. left-handed starters but rank 26th in both wRC+ (79) and wOBA (.272) and 24th in hard-hit rate (26.2%) against lefties, per FanGraphs. Matz also deals in May and has impressive pitching peripherals against San Francisco’s lineup albeit in a limited sample size.

May is Matz’s best month by winning percentage (69.2%), ERA (2.66), WHIP (1.18) and K/BB rate (3.76). He has a 1.49 FIP against the Giants in 20 plate appearances with a 25.0 K% and .250/.258/.281 expected batting average, wOBA and slugging percentage, according to Statcast.

There’s reverse line movement (RLM) headed towards St. Louis in the betting market. Nearly 80% of the action is on the Giants but San Francisco’s ML has fallen from -151 down to the current price, per Pregame.com.

This RLM-situation is even more suspicious because the Giants are 16-0 at home with Webb getting the start since the beginning of last season.

BET the CARDINALS (+110).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS with a slight “lean” towards the Cardinals +0.5 First 5-Inning RL (-140) based on the previous analysis. However, it’s a little out of my price range considering Webb has been a lock at home over the last year.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 6.5 (+105) because I’m high on both starters, San Francisco can’t hit lefties, both bullpens are top-10 in xFIP over the last 2 weeks (according to  FanGraphs) and most of the market is on the Over (per Pregame.com) so we have a contrarian angle.

It’s only a LEAN to the UNDER 6.5 (+105) because the total is so low and my favorite bet in this game is St. Louis’s ML.

St. Louis Cardinals at San Francisco Giants odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s St. Louis Cardinals at San Francisco Giants odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The St. Louis Cardinals (14-10) visit the San Francisco Giants (14-10) Thursday for the start of a 4-game series at Oracle Park. First pitch is scheduled for 9:45 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Cardinals vs. Giants odds with MLB picks and predictions.

St. Louis won 3 of its last 4 games, including a 2-1 series win in an interleague set against the Kansas City Royals Monday through Wednesday.

San Francisco has lost 5 of its last 6 games including 3 straight – 2 at the Los Angeles Dodgers (Tuesday and Wednesday) and 1 vs. the Washington Nationals (Sunday at Oracle).

The Cardinals beat the Giants 4-2 in last year’s season series despite being outscored 22-20.

Cardinals at Giants projected starters

RHP Miles Mikolas vs. RHP Logan Webb

Mikolas (1-1, 1.52 ERA) lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 2-0 Saturday, hurling 7 1/3 IP with 2 ER on 4 H, 2 HR, 0 BB and 7 K.

  • He has a 2.89 FIP, 0.84 WHIP and 7.6 K/9 in 29 2/3 IP over 5 starts.

Webb (3-1, 3.26 ERA) beat Washington 9-3 Saturday, throwing 6 IP, allowing 3 ER on 11 H and 1 BB with 3 K.

  • Has a 2.80 FIP, 1.29 WHIP and 5.9 K/9 in 30 1/3 IP across 5 starts.
  • Last season vs. the Cardinals: One start – a no-decision, 7-2 Giants road victory in mid-July – 4 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 1 HR, 1 BB, 2 K.

Cardinals at Giants picks and predictions

Prediction

Giants 4, Cardinals 2

Money line

BET GIANTS (-135).

San Francisco is 16-0 in Webb’s home starts since the beginning of 2021. Plus, the Giants lineup hits much better vs. right-handed pitching than St. Louis’.

Giants hitters rank 10th in both wRC+ (109) and hard-hit rate (30.9%) and eighth in wOBA (.316), according to FanGraphs.

The Cardinals rank 22nd in wRC+ (90), 23rd in wOBA (.286) and 29th in hard-hit rate (23.5%).

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

The Giants are just 2-8 ATS as home favorites, while the Cardinals are 5-2 ATS as road underdogs.

Over/Under

LEAN to the UNDER 6.5 (+110).

This line is accurately priced and there isn’t much value on either side of the total.

The reason for the Under lean:

  • Both starters are “top-of-the-rotation” pitchers
  • Webb’s numbers are far better at home than on the road
  • Mikolas has pitched at Cy Young-caliber form to start the year
  • St. Louis is 2-5 O/U as road underdogs
