5-star Florida edge target plans official visits for fall

Florida is hoping five-star edge rusher Samuel M’Pemba spends one of his five official visits on the Gators. Here’s what he has planned for now.

As football season approaches, the amount of available talent in the  recruiting class lessens. Elite prospects often prefer to have their future decided before their senior year begins, and many will graduate early to enroll in the spring. Edge rusher [autotag]Samuel M’Pemba[/autotag] is one of the few remaining uncommitted five-star recruits in the class, and he’s likely to make his announcement during the season.

Right now, he has an idea for four of the five official visits he plans to take during the fall, and Florida isn’t in the mix just yet, according to 247Sports. The Gators are one of the schools M’Pemba named to his top seven at the beginning of July though, so there’s a chance he does stop by the Swamp again.

“I haven’t really locked in any yet,” M’Pemba said. “But I should be at Notre Dame vs. Clemson, Georgia vs. Auburn and Oregon vs. Stanford. Miami, I haven’t figured that out yet. Same with the last one.”

The Gators recently hosted M’Pemba for a meeting on Friday, the same day as Florida’s Friday Night Lights camp. He said he was there to see the new staff again after the dead period was lifted, but didn’t hint at a potential visit.

If he were to pencil in an official visit, the highest-profile home game Florida has on its schedule is against LSU on Oct. 15. That date also fits nicely into the schedule of games he mentioned, assuming those visit dates hold.

M’Pemba is ranked No. 25 overall in the class of 2023 and No. 2 among edge rushers. He’s also an in-state kid; he is ranked No. 7 among recruits in the Sunshine State.

5-star EDGE from IMG Academy schedules visit to the Swamp

The Gators will get undecided five-star edge rusher Samuel M’Pemba back on campus before the end of summer.

Another blue-chip recruit has been added to the list of visitors Billy Napier and the Florida Gators are expecting at the recruiting cookout on Saturday, July 30. Five-star edge rusher [autotag]Samuel M’Pemba[/autotag], and IMG Academy recruit, is set to make his third trip to the Swamp of the year, according to his social media.

M’Pemba named the Gators to his top seven earlier in July along with Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Notre Dame, Oregon and Tennessee. While he’s yet to take any of his official visits, he has trips planned to Notre Dame (vs. Clemson), Georgia (vs. Auburn), Oregon (vs. Stanford) and Miami on a date that’s yet to be determined.

He last visited for the spring game which gave him a taste of the new-look Gators. M’Pemba has noticed the differences between Napier’s Gators and Mullen’s Gators, and the culture change has him considering the orange and blue for now. Florida needs to get that fifth and final official visit if it wants to make the next cut, so impressing M’Pemba over the weekend is crucial.

Georgia is considered the leader right now by the On3 recruiting prediction machine with a 76.9% chance to land the recruit. That prediction could be a product of recency bias though since that was the last trip he made before the dead period. Florida getting him back on campus as the quiet period starts should help them toward securing the official visit.

The 247Sports composite ranks M’Pemba No. 23 overall in the class of 2023 and No. 2 among edge rushers.

Alabama lands in top seven for 2023 4-star edge rusher Samuel M’Pemba

Alabama was listed as one of seven finalists in 2023 edge rusher Samuel M’Pemba’s recruitment.

Over the years, numerous edge rushers have found success at Alabama. Will Anderson Jr., Dallas Turner, Anfernee Jennings and Christopher Allen Jr. are just a few examples of players that gained national attention in their time at Alabama.

Now, there could be another elite defensive end heading to Tuscaloosa. Samuel M’Pemba listed Alabama as one of his top-seven schools on Friday via Twitter.

The Saint Louis, Missouri native made the move to IMG Academy for his junior season. Although he played primarily wide receiver, he is being recruited as an edge rusher. The Tide will likely lose Will Anderson Jr. to the NFL draft after the 2022 season barring something unexpected.

Landing M’Pemba would be huge for Alabama’s recruiting class. Roll Tide Wire breaks down hs recruiting profile below.

5-star EDGE Samuel M’Pemba lists Ducks in newly-released top-7

5-star EDGE Samuel M’Pemba listed the Oregon Ducks in his top-7 after taking a visit to Eugene last month.

The Oregon Ducks are in the running to land yet another 5-star player this summer, with Samuel M’Pemba, one of the top-ranked athletes in the 2023 class, announcing his top-7 on Friday.

M’Pemba, who is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 3 EDGE and No. 26 player overall in the 2023 class. He recently took an official visit to Eugene in the month of June, and seems to have enjoyed his time.

Currently, there is a prediction on On3 that M’Pemba will end up committing to the Georgia Bulldogs, but as his recruitment goes on this summer, we will see how teams position themselves. Could the Ducks sneak in there and get a look from the elite pass-rusher as a finalist? Time will tell.

Nation’s No. 2 ATH Samuel M’Pemba pushes back official visit with Ducks

Samuel M’Pemba was set to be one of Oregon’s marquee visitors in June, but he’s pushing his OV back.

We aren’t sure of the reasoning yet, but one of the best players in the 2023 recruiting class, five-star athlete Samuel M’Pemba, will not take his official visit to the Oregon Ducks later this month as planned.

M’Pemba announced on Thursday night that his official visit set for June 24 will be pushed back to later in the summer.

M’Pemba, who stands at 6 feet, 4 inches and 230 pounds, is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 2 athlete and No. 16 overall player in the 2023 class. He was set to be one of the marquee members of a recruiting weekend that featured numerous five-star players, including Kadyn Proctor, Richard Young and Jayden Wayne.

Why Samuel M’Pemba moving official visit is good news for Notre Dame

So you’re telling me theres a chance?

Twitter spaces has become yet another outlet for college football fans to gather and has become a place where news tends to happen.  That was the case Tuesday night when the Irish Players Club hosted a Twitter spaces with former Notre Dame quarterback [autotag]Malik Zaire[/autotag] and five-star 2023 recruiting prospect [autotag]Samuel M’Pemba[/autotag].

M’Pemba is ranked as the 16th overall player in the 2023 recruiting class by 247Sports composite rankings which makes him a five-star talent.  Although listed as an athlete, he’d most likely play linebacker at Notre Dame, the same position he played in at IMG Academy’s spring football game recently.

M’Pemba announced on the Twitter spaces that he’ll be moving his official visit to Notre Dame from mid-June to November 5 when the Irish play host to Clemson.  His visit in June will now be of the unofficial capacity.

There is clearly a long way to go before M’Pemba makes a decision as he’ll have the pick of the litter seeing as the blue bloods like Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, Texas, USC, and plenty of others have extended scholarship offers his way.

What it means is that although it’s nearly impossible to call Notre Dame a favorite for his talents, them pretty much assuring themselves a spot at the table still in November of his senior year is certainly a positive.

5-star Samuel M’Pemba, No. 2 ATH in 2023, sets official visit to Oregon Ducks

5-star ATH Samuel M’Pemba is one of the best players in the 2023 class. He will be taking one of his official visits to Oregon this summer.

The conversation surrounding the Oregon Ducks and blue-chip athlete Samuel M’Pemba has been cold for a couple of months, but that changed on Wednesday when the No. 2 ATH in the 2023 class announced that he will be taking an official visit to Eugene in the month of June to see Dan Lanning and the Ducks’ coaching staff.

M’Pemba is an elite athlete who is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 16 overall player in the 2023 class. Standing at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, M’Pemba projects to play anywhere he’s needed at the next level. At IMG Academy, he worked as a slot wide receiver and is focusing on the defensive side of the ball in his senior year, mostly at the EDGE position.

During the season last year, M’Pemba released his top-12 schools, and a week later retracted and added the Oregon Ducks to the mix.

With M’Pemba taking one of his official visits to Eugene, you can assume that Oregon is still in his top schools, and we’ll see how strong of a candidate they are as he gets closer to his commitment.

Notre Dame set to host elite 2023 prospect in June

Could the Irish really pull this one off?

Notre Dame’s start defensively in the 2023 recruiting class is nothing short of elite but could it get even stronger?

Five-star athlete [autotag]Samuel M’Pemba[/autotag] of IMG Academy in Florida is set to visit Notre Dame on June 17 as he’ll be taking an official visit.  M’Pemba is listed as an athlete and is being recruited by Notre Dame as a rover despite playing mostly as a receiver during his junior high school season.  He is originally from St. Louis before transferring to the football powerhouse IMG.

M’Pemba is a man-child listed at 6-4, 245-pounds and is ranked the seventh player nationally by Rivals in the 2023 class while 247Sports puts him 27th and ESPN ranks him 28th overall.  On3 is a little lower on him as they rank M’Pemba as the 104th overall prospect in the class.

This is clearly another huge swing by [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] and company as the Irish continue to try and boost their overall recruiting.  Stay tuned to any developments with M’Pemba and all things Notre Dame recruiting here at Fighting Irish Wire.

The stars are coming out for Florida’s Orange and Blue game on Thursday

The stars will be out for Florida head coach Billy Napier’s first spring game on Thursday.

Head coach [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] has proven the doubters wrong. Many fans and media members thought the decision to move the Orange and Blue game from Saturday to Thursday to achieve a recruiting advantage was a mistake that would end up backfiring. Despite having the game held on a weekday, Napier and the Gators have managed to bring in three 2023 five-stars and 15 four-stars along with a boatload of top prospects from the 2024 recruiting class.

The Orange and Blue game visitors’ list is headlined by five-star cornerback [autotag]Cormani McClain[/autotag], offensive lineman [autotag]Francis Mauigoa[/autotag] and athlete [autotag]Samuel M’Pemba[/autotag]. This will all be their second visit to the Swamp under Napier. Swamp247 is also reporting that they have an eye out for five-star cornerback [autotag]AJ Harris[/autotag] that could also visit, but he and his family have not finalized their plans yet.

Maryland defensive lineman [autotag]Darrell Jackson[/autotag] isn’t a high school prospect, obviously, but Swamp247 reported that he will be visiting the Gators Thursday after entering his name into the transfer portal last week.

Florida will bring in a lot of talent on Thursday hailing from the trenches like offensive linemen [autotag]Payton Kirkland[/autotag], [autotag]Lucas Simmons[/autotag], [autotag]Knijeah Harris[/autotag], defensive linemen [autotag]Will Norman[/autotag], [autotag]Derrick LeBlanc[/autotag], [autotag]Jordan Hall[/autotag] and [autotag]Tomarrion Parker[/autotag].

The Gators are looking to sign several top pass catchers this cycle with a lack of playmakers currently on the roster. Some of the most talented wideouts include [autotag]Hykeem Williams[/autotag], [autotag]Aidan Mizell[/autotag] and [autotag]Tyler Williams[/autotag].

Other top targets expected are four-star running back [autotag]Treyaun Webb[/autotag], safety [autotag]Joenel Aguero[/autotag] and [autotag]Kenton Kirkland[/autotag].

The stars will be out in full force for the Gators’ Orange and Blue Game on Thursday.
