Klay Thompson apologized to Ronnie 2K following the Golden State Warriors Opening Night victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. The two had previously been involved in a public beef, but Thompson clearly wants to move past it. Thompson shared his apology on his Instagram story late Tuesday night. “I would like to apologize to @Ronnie2k,” Thompson wrote. “I was in my feelings about a fictitious rating and I took out my anger on him with trolling in the comments. Cyber-bullying is super lame and loser behavior and for that I am sorry bro.”

Have you and your reps talked with the front office yet about signing an extension? [Thompson has two years left on his contract] Klay Thompson: I have not talked to the front office about it. How do you expect that to play out? Klay Thompson: I’m just going to do what I got to do to be the best I can be every day. I’m going to be a great player. I know what I’m capable of. I fully expect to earn another NBA contract, whether it’s this summer or next summer. I’m fully confident in my abilities. I’m not worried about an extension in the meantime because I know it’ll happen if I just do my job and I just be myself. -via NBA.com / October 18, 2022

Celtics Lab 142: All things Boston Celtics and NBA2K with Ronnie 2K

Remember when the biggest blip on the Boston Celtics’ horizon was gripes about the newest ratings of their players in the latest NBA 2K ratings update?

Remember when the biggest blip on the Boston Celtics’ horizon was gripes about the newest ratings of their players in the latest NBA 2K ratings update? We certainly do after a day of chaos in the organization tied to a scandal surrounding Celtics head coach Ime Udoka that broke just after we finished recording this episode.

In it, we talk with NBA 2K frontman Ronnie 2K about the latest iteration of the game, the Celtics in it, how they feel about their ratings, how it’s made, and what might be coming down the pike. We even get into how Ronnie’s looming wedding and host Cameron Tabatabaie’s tweets made it into the game.

We do NOT talk about Udoka, of course, given the timing. But there’s plenty of news about Boston’s training camp prospects and other less incendiary topics to spell you from the whirlwind engulfing the Celtics at present.

Ronnie 2K addresses Klay Thompson’s complaint about his three-point rating

What’s it like when you see someone like Klay Thompson talk about his three-point rating? “I think it’s a badge of honor for those guys. Something they definitely talk about in the locker room,” Singh said. “Even though Klay said that he hadn’t played NBA2K since the Dreamcast, the fact that he cares about his rating so much, I know that that’s not true. I can see his gamer tag, he plays it just plenty. But I also think him in specific, he was really upset about an 88 three-point rating. But you know what the funny thing is? That was still tied for the second-highest rating. I think that’s part of the issue of having a teammate that’s leaps and bounds ahead of everybody, like how do you deal with that? Steph since 2015 has made way more than 10% more three-pointers than anyone else in the league. So at some point, shouldn’t the rating be 10% higher than everybody else in the league? How do we deal with that? I think he’s just kinda broke that scale.”

Singh added that these ratings are something players truly care about, which creates a level of interest between both fans and players. This led into Kevin Durant’s recent gripe with his overall rating, and how it was somehow lower than 99. “I’m sure you saw KD’s tweet as well,” Singh said. “You know what’s funny, me and Kevin are actually really close friends. He’s one of the four NBA players that was invited to my wedding. So we were texting literally the night before, then that rating hit and all of a sudden he was upset.” -via Sports Illustrated / September 13, 2022
“Draymond is like me,” Hardaway said. “I’m the voice. I’m the s— starter that gets us going. Chris and Mitch are like Steph and Klay. … They just go out there and don’t say nothing. Just go out there and do the job.” -via ESPN / September 9, 2022
