UGA football player card: LB Robert Beal

Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Robert Beal removed his name from the NCAA transfer portal earlier this offseason

Robert Beal, Linebacker (No. 33):

Class: Junior

Height: 6-4

Weight: 244 pounds

Hometown: Norcross, Georgia

High School: Peachtree Ridge High School

Georgia Bulldogs linebacker Robert Beal removed his name from the NCAA transfer portal earlier this offseason. Beal came to Georgia as a talented four-star recruit. He has the potential to provide pressure off the edge.

Beal played in only four games last season. Beal played much more as a freshman in 2019, when he played in 11 of 14 games and recording a sack.

Beal will compete with Adam Anderson, Nolan Smith, Jermaine Johnson, Rian Davis, Trezmen Marshall, and more for playing time at outside linebacker. Perhaps the easiest area for Georgia’s elite defense to improve is in pass rush. UGA finished 60th in the country with 31.0 sacks last season.

Beal is a talented player and his loss is a big-hit for Georgia’s defensive depth in the future. Beal’s transfer shouldn’t come as a surprise. He played much more during his freshman season, when he recorded 15 tackles and a sack. Beal’s decreased playing time is likely connected to his off-season arrest.
