Texas A&M forward Rob Dockery no longer with the basketball team

Reports from Gig247 confirm Texas A&M basketball’s forward Rob Dockery is no longer on the team.

On Friday afternoon, Andrew Hattersley of Gig247 confirmed with an athletic department spokesperson that Texas A&M small forward Rob Dockery is no longer part of the team. The redshirt sophomore saw action in the first two games before logging zero in the last two.

On a team full of 6’7″ forwards and a veteran lineup getting on the court as a redshirt freshman was going to be tough. While we do not know why Dockery is no longer with the team the eye test would say playing time might have played a slight role. The former Washington, D.C. All-State forward averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists choosing Texas A&M over schools like Maryland and Rutgers.

A&M has a challenging road test when they travel to Las Vegas for the Player Era Festival Tournament where they will open up with Oregon and No. 14 Creighton. Game one will be on Nov 26 at 3:30 pm CST and can be seen on TBS.

Texas A&M basketball boasts three top 150 commits in latest 247Sports rankings update

With 247Sports releasing a massive player rankings update, the Aggies boast three commits in the top 150 in Andre Mills, George Turkson, and Rob Dockery.

As the summer winds down and college basketball season draws near, it’s worth a pulse check on how Texas A&M basketball’s 2024 recruiting class is sizing up in the latest rankings.

On Wednesday morning, the 247Sports team released a significant update to their player rankings. Not only was the 2024 class given an update, but so were the 2025 and 2026 classes. Given that the Aggies currently do not have commits in the 2025 and 2026 cycles, this breakdown will focus solely on Texas A&M’s trio of commits in the 2024 class.

The great news is that all three A&M commitments in the 2024 class remain in the top 150 of the latest rankings update. As a refresher, guard Andre Mills, forward George Turkson, and forward Rob Dockery have all verbally committed to the Maroon and White.

Mills, who hails from Brimmer and May, holds the title of A&M’s highest-rated commit with a rating of 90, and he now sits as the No. 96 player nationally, according to 247Sports. Not far behind is his fellow AAU teammate in Turkson. The power forward out of Bradford Christian Academy has an 89 rating and is positioned as the No. 104 player nationally.

Dockery clocks in as the No. 110 prospect in the Top247 rankings. The 6-foot-7, 195-pound forward marks Texas A&M’s longest-tenured commit, having verbally committed to the Aggies since December 2022.

Head coach Buzz Williams and his staff are far from finished on the recruiting trail, but as always, it’s worth seeing how the Aggies fare against the competition. A&M currently boasts the No. 2 class in the SEC, trailing only Missouri.

Texas A&M basketball’s 2024 commits take major leap in top-150 rankings

Texas A&M basketball’s 2024 recruiting class took a major leap in 247Sports’ latest rankings update, with two commits now within the top 100.

The future of Texas A&M basketball was already promising, and Buzz Williams’ program just received a jolt of promising news regarding their recruiting endeavors.

The 2024 class received its latest update on Thursday, with a trio of Aggies commits making moves in the 247Sports rankings. As it currently stands, Buzz Williams and Texas A&M hold three commitments in the 2024 class from Andre MillsGeorge Turkson, and Rob Dockery.

The Maroon and White can now claim two commits within 247Sports’ top 100 rankings, thanks to a significant rise from Andre Mills. The Brimmer and May guard jumped 30 spots from No. 125 up to No. 93, which shouldn’t be surprising given the noise he’s been making through the AAU circuit.

In late April, Mills shined at the Adidas 3SSB Circuit Invitational, pouring in 20 points on 7-13 shooting from the floor while going 4-5 from deep.

His current AAU teammate and fellow future Aggie George Turkson also rose 10 spots in the latest 247 rankings and now sits at No. 103 overall. At 6-7 with a 205-pound frame, Turkson represents the future of A&M in the frontcourt as he’ll learn under the wing of Julius Marble and Henry Coleman III, who will be rising seniors by the time Turkson arrives in College Station.

Dockery dropped four spots to No. 85 in 247Sports’ latest rankings; however, he remains the Aggies’ highest-rated commit for the 2024 cycle.

Although the Aggies continue to get much-deserved respect in college basketball’s early top 25 rankings for the 2023-24 season, it hasn’t diverted attention from Buzz Williams’ tenacity on the recruiting trail. The best programs in the country are built on long-term, sustainable success, which means keeping an eye on the future.

A pair of Texas A&M 2024 commits leaping the rankings illustrates that the future of Aggies hoops is as bright as ever.

Aggie Hoops’ 2024 recruiting class is now ranked 11th in the country

Texas A&M’s 2024 recruiting class has risen to 11th in 247Sports Composite rankings after 4-star Forward George Turkson’s recent commitment

Ever since Texas A&M head basketball coach Buzz Williams returned to Aggieland for the first time in nearly a decade as a coach, his vision of turning around a program that had seen better days under every previous regime, but slowly dropped off the map in the final two seasons under previous head coach Billy Kennedy, would take some time, but get to its destination soon enough.

In four seasons with the program, Williams has accumulated a 76-47 record, and 36-28 in SEC play, while guiding the 2022-2023 squad to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 2017-2018 season last. One area of weakness that has kept the Aggies from truly reaching their full potential under Williams’ tutelage is recruiting, as multiple players from the 2020, 2021, and 2022 cycles have transferred from the program, while only signing one five-star recruit in guard Manny Obaseki.

However, All-SEC point guard Wade Taylor IV from the 2021 recruiting class has already cemented himself as one of the program’s greatest players. His excellent play on the court has led to one of the Texas A&M and Buzz Williams’s best classes to date, as the 2024 class is currently ranked 11th in the country by 247Sports Composite rankings.

After four-star power forward George Turkson out of Lowell, Massachusetts announced his commitment on Wednesday, he quickly joined fellow four-star forward Rob Dockery, and high-three-star guard Andre Mills (also from Massachusetts), who will likely receive a four-star designation by this time next year. All in all, this is by far the most talented class since the 2021 cycle, as all three prospects will have a chance to contribute as soon as the 2024 season, all possessing the skill sets and mental fortitude needed to excel with the Maroon and White.

4-star 2024 SF Rob Dockery commits to Texas A&M on Christmas

Dockery is the first commitment for the Aggies’ class of 2024.

Texas A&M got a special gift on Christmas when Jackson-Reed (DC) four-star small forward Rob Dockery announced his commitment to the Aggies.

An athletic wing who can play multiple positions, Dockery (6-foot-7, 195 pounds) is ranked No. 19 among small forwards in the class of 2024 and No. 2 overall in D.C.

In eight games this season he has averaged 15.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game. He’s shooting 62% from the floor but just 22% from three-point range and 65% from the foul line.

Seven other schools have extended offers, including Howard, LSU, Maryland, St. Bonaventure, Towson, UMBC and Georgia Tech. Dockery told On3 that he picked Texas A&M because of his relationship with Buzz Williams’ staff.

“I built a solid relationship with the coaches, I can tell they really want me to be there. It’s a great school and a great environment. After taking the visit there, it just felt like home. SEC is great basketball.”

Dockery is the first commitment for the Aggies’ class of 2024.

Rutgers basketball recruiting: four-star Rob Dockery offered on Thursday

Rob Dockery is offered by Rutgers basketball.

Class of 2024 forward Rob Dockery was offered by Rutgers basketball on Thursday night as Rutgers joins the recruitment of the Washington D.C. standout.

A four-star at Woodrow Wilson, the 6-foot-7 Dockery is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 53 player in the nation and the No. 16 small forward. His offer list includes LSU and Maryland among others.

Dockery tweeted about the offer on Thursday night.

Last season he averaged 14 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.

A very good scorer, the most impressive part of Dockery’s game might just be his defense. He uses his length well for his on-and-off the ball defending. He has a good understanding of passing lanes and is a difficult defender to break down.

Earlier this week, head coach Steve Pikiell sent out an offer to class of 2024 Vyctorious Miller.

A five-star recruit, Miller is one of the top recruits in the nation and is a consensus top-10 player in the country.
