Georgia football’s radio team of Scott Howard (play-by-play), Eric Zeier (analyst), and DJ Shockley (sideline reporter) does an excellent job of covering the Bulldogs.

Arkansas Depth Chart vs. South Carolina

Here’s a look at how Arkansas will line up this Saturday against South Carolina.

The No. 17 Arkansas Razorbacks put a great product on the field last Saturday, as they defeated then-No. 22 Cincinnati, 31-24 at Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

Head coach Sam Pittman looks to put the same players on the field Saturday when the Razorbacks host South Carolina for the SEC opener.

However, there appear to be some questions heading into the game that may be answered as the week goes on.

In the Cincinnati game, defensive backs [autotag]Myles Slusher[/autotag] and [autotag]Jalen Catalon[/autotag] each left the game early due to injury. Pittman provided an update on those players Monday, by saying that there is no current update.

“We’re not ready really to figure out exactly Catalon’s situation,” Pittman said. “We haven’t, let’s say that I guess. Slusher is in the same boat there.”

While Pittman is not ready to say if Slusher will be out at the nickel slot, but says that he will prepare everyone neccessary in order to fill the empty spot.

“I told the staff we’ve got to be concerned with the ones that are going to be there for sure,” Pittman said. “The game of football, you may lose someone for a week, may lose someone for a season. … We’ll have to find out on those guys, but if they’re not able to play, we’ll be fine.”

For a look at how Arkansas will line up on Saturday, here’s this week’s depth chart:

Auburn falls in latest ESPN Football Power Index rankings

The ESPN FPI once highly favored Auburn, but has since changed its tone.

One of the few outlets giving Auburn a chance to succeed this season was the ESPN Football Power Index, which is supposed the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season. But, after Week 1, Auburn is not receiving as much praise from the formula.

After defeating Mercer 42-16 on Saturday, Auburn has dropped 16 places from No. 11 to No. 27 in the latest ESPN FPI rankings.

In the latest FPI update, Auburn still has a favorable chance to win six games, as they have a 74% forecasted chance to eclipse the .500 mark. The Tigers still hold the nation’s toughest remaining schedule according to FPI.

This week, Auburn hosts San Jose State. The Spartans currently rank No. 113 in FPI, and Auburn has a 96.3% chance of defeating San Jose State on Saturday night.

Where does the rest of the SEC rank in the lates ESPN Football Power Index? Take a look below:

Arkansas takes massive leap in USA Today Sports’ College Football re-rank

The Razorbacks’ impressive 31-24 season-opening win over Cincinnati last Saturday has impressed the experts at USA Today Sports.

Reynolds Razorback Stadium was one of three venues that hosted two ranked teams last weekend. The home crowd played a key factor as No. 23 Arkansas held off a fiery No. 22 Cincinnati Bearcat club, 31-24.

The win impressed the College Football world, as head coaches across the country collectively voted to move the Razorbacks up six spots to No. 17 in the latest USA Today Coaches poll.

The win was just as impressive to the media that covers the sport as well.

Following week one’s slate of games, USA Today Sports’ Paul Myerberg has re-ranked all 131 Football Bowl Subdivision teams and has come to truly respect the Razorbacks.

In the latest re-rank, Arkansas has jumped to No. 17, which is an eight-spot increase from the initial rank. Following the loss, Cincinnati has fallen to No. 34, which is a drop of six places.

According to the re-rank, Arkansas’ week two opponent, South Carolina, is ranked No. 70. They move up three slots after defeating Georgia State, 35-14, last Saturday at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Arkansas faces the Gamecocks on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. CT at Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The game can be seen on ESPN.

Former NFL scout thinks Stetson Bennett is a ‘legit pro prospect’

Former NFL scout and Executive Director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl Jim Nagy thinks that Stetson Bennett is a legitimate NFL draft prospect.

Former NFL scout Jim Nagy thinks that Stetson Bennett is a legitimate NFL draft prospect. Nagy is the executive director of the Reese’s Senior Bowl, which is the most important scrimmage ahead of the NFL draft.

Nagy and the Senior Bowl named Bennett as the player of the week thanks to his massive performance against Oregon.

Stetson Bennett threw for 368 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, and completed 25 of his 31 pass attempts. Bennett additionally had eight rushing yards and scored a nifty rushing touchdown. The senior quarterback helped Georgia score touchdowns on seven straight drives to open the game.

Bennett and the Dawgs converted third downs with ease against Oregon en route to a 49-3 win. Bennett, who does not get much respect as a NFL draft prospect, continues to prove the doubters wrong.

Jim Nagy highlighted one of Bennett’s best throws as a reason why NFL teams should be taking a look at him. Bennett finished Week 1 with the second-highest QBR (97.3) in the country. Bennett is the only player with a top-five QBR to have faced a Power Five opponent.

Here’s the Dawgs who’s stock is rising after a huge Week-1 win.

Michael Barrett says J.J. McCarthy is tough to defend in practices due to his running ability

How awesome to have him on our team! #GoBlue

Michigan football started off the year 1-0 this past Saturday after it defeated Colorado State, 51-7.

But even after a dominating performance, there is just one thing that everyone is talking about. The quarterback controversy in Ann Arbor.

Jim Harbaugh started Cade McNamara against the Rams and he will start J.J. McCarthy this Saturday against Hawaii. Harbaugh has reiterated multiple times that he believes either quarterback could lead Michigan to a championship. But the best way to figure out who is more equipped to be the starter in 2022 is to see them both in action during games.

On Monday, Michael Barrett met with the media and he was asked if the rotating of the quarterback makes things uncomfortable for the team. Barrett said it does not, but he like Harbaugh, feels like both can lead Michigan to where it needs to go. The linebacker said that competition brings the best out of you and he believes that’s what’s happening now.

“Not exactly I feel like both of those guys could be a starting quarterback anywhere in the country,” said Barrett. “I feel like just going against those guys. Both of them are locked in and both of them guys are you know they want the starting spot. They’re both competing. They’re both competing at a high level. So I mean, I wouldn’t say that it’s kind of uncomfortable. I feel like it’s kind of bringing the best out of both of them. You know, I feel like just that competition at that, at that level. I feel like it’s kind of it has to bring the best out of, you know, whoever it is. And I feel like that’s kind of what’s going on.”

Earlier on Monday, Jim Harbaugh was asked about the running ability J.J. McCarthy brings to the table. Harbaugh stated that McCarthy runs a four-five 40-time and that he is faster than most linebackers. Which is a big upside to the Michigan offense.

“I think he definitely pulls defenders,” said Harbaugh. “They have to know where he is. I mean our defensive coaches are the same way. There needs to be a plan when  a quarterback can run in the four-fives and that gets to be faster than linebackers. So you’ve gotta have a plan to contain that. You can definitely see even if he’s carrying out fake somebody’s paying attention.”

Barrett reiterated how fast McCarthy is and how hard he is to defend during practices. He said there are times that the defense feels like they have him contained, or even stopped dead to rights, but the elusive quarterback finds a way to make a play with his feet.

“Yeah, I mean, you kind of got to make sure that your resume is perfect,” said Barrett. “You got to make sure you have your edges because if he gets outside and we’re in man coverage or something he can beat you with his feet.  He’s a fast one. So he can get out of there. You think you have him but he slips out of a couple of tackles. And we’ll laugh about it. Because we can’t really tackle him or touch him in practice. But yeah, we just have to make sure that we kind of keep an edge on and keep the pocket tight whenever. Whenever we rush in, don’t, don’t pass the quarterback, things like that. So you don’t get to escape on it. But it’s kind of something you got to kind of, you know, focus on when he’s in there.”

The Wolverines are set to take on Hawaii this Saturday at 8:00 p.m. EDT. It will be McCarthy’s first-ever collegiate start and all eyes with be on Michigan to see how the sophomore performs under the bright lights of the Big House.

Bryan Harsin reveals quarterback game plan for San Jose State game

Both T.J. Finley and Robby Ashford got equal reps in Saturday’s win over Mercer. How does each performance factor into week two’s game plan?

Auburn head football coach [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag] elected to use both [autotag]T.J. Finley[/autotag] and [autotag]Robby Ashford[/autotag] to lead the offense in the Tigers’ 42-16 win over Mercer last Saturday.

Finley completed 9-of-14 passes for 112 yards, while Ashford was 4-of-7 for 100 yards. Both quarterbacks had a chance to separate themselves as well. Ashford recorded the team’s second-highest rushing total with 68 yards. Finley, though, would go on to throw two interceptions in an otherwise respectable performance.

Harsin shared his thoughts on the quarterback situation during Monday’s press conference. He says that using the rotation of Finley and Ashford was always in last week’s game plan.

“We knew that was going to happen. Not everybody else did,” Harsin said in a release. “But we knew that back and forth would happen… and we got a chance to keep Robby in there because we were winning the game.”

How does week one’s showing affect the game plan for Saturday’s game with San Jose State? Not at all, in Harsin’s eyes. According to this week’s depth chart, Finley is still considered to be the starter, but Harsin says that he expects Ashford to be thrown into the mix as well.

Will there be an even split? Or will one quarterback see more snaps than the other? Harsin partially alluded to that question as well. He was asked about his decision to use only Ashford following Finley’s second interception early in the 3rd quarter. To that, he says that Finley’s playing time in the San Jose State game will not be dictated by what happened last week and that he had another idea in mind.

“(Finley) had played well up to that point, and then he had the two turnovers… We wanted to get (Ashford) some more reps.”

Auburn welcomes San Jose State to Jordan-Hare Stadium on Saturday evening at 6:30 p.m. CT. The game can be seen on ESPNU.
