Twitter reacts to Michigan football landing WR Channing Goodwin

LET’S GO!!! #GoBlue

Michigan football has the top-ranked class in the 2024 recruiting rankings, but entering Sunday the Wolverines lacked a playmaking wide receiver in the class.

That changed on Sunday afternoon.

The maize and blue landed a top target after a legacy prospect committed to them. Channing Goodwin, the son of former offensive lineman Jonathan Goodwin, committed to Michigan over North Carolina, North Carolina State, South Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

According to 247Sports composite, Goodwin is a three-star receiver and the 511th-ranked prospect. However, 247Sports itself lists Goodwin as a four-star and the 241st-ranked recruit in the country.

Goodwin hails from the same high school as five-star and current Michigan commit, Jadyn Davis, at Charlotte (North Carolina) Providence Day School.

With the addition to Goodwin, Michigan has 16 recruits committed to it in the 2024 class.

Twitter erupted after Goodwin announced his decision. Here are the best reactions.

Michigan football to get official visit from 4-Star CB from Ohio

It’s a Buckeye State invasion! #GoBlue

There are still several big names that Michigan football is targeting in the state of Ohio in 2024, especially at cornerback.

While all eyes are on cornerbacks Bryce West and Aaron Scott, two of the top players in the state, there is another who is getting some attention from the maize and blue.

2024 Cincinnati (Ohio) Withrow four-star CB Terhyon Nichols is rated the No. 321 player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite, the 29th-best corner, and the ninth-best player in the state of Ohio.

As he looks for his next school of choice, Nichols has arranged a series of official visits in the month of June. Thus far, he has set Pitt on June 9, Penn State on June 16, and Michigan on June 23.

Nichols also has offers from Kentucky and Notre Dame, but not Ohio State.

Auburn becomes team to watch for Montana Lemonious-Craig’s next destination

Auburn is making a strong run to land the talented receiver formerly of Colorado.

Auburn has made a splash in the transfer portal this week.

The week started with former Appalachian State linebacker [autotag]Jalen McLeod[/autotag] signing with the Tigers and ended with the signing of two talented offensive skill players, Michigan State QB [autotag]Payton Thorne[/autotag] and Ohio State WR [autotag]Caleb Burton[/autotag].

When the hand is good, sometimes it pays to keep playing. That is what Auburn head coach [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] is looking to do with former Colorado wide receiver [autotag]Montana Lemonious-Craig[/autotag], who Auburn has recently received a prediction to land.

On3’s Jeffrey Lee submitted a prediction for Auburn to sign Lemonious-Craig ($) this week after he paid a visit to the Plains during the weekend of April 29.

Lemonious-Craig does not have the resume of a seasoned veteran, as he caught just 34 passes for 497 yards and five touchdowns in three seasons at Colorado, but the potential to be a big-time receiver is there. He caught the attention of the college football world during Colorado’s spring game last month by catching two touchdown passes from Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

The possible addition of Lemonious-Craig would add to an already revamped receiver room, as Auburn has already signed [autotag]Rivaldo Fairweather[/autotag], [autotag]Nick Mardner[/autotag], and Caleb Burton from the transfer portal. Lemonious-Craig provides a big frame at 6-2, 190 pounds, and would add speed to the mix at receiver.

Former Browns tight end Stephen Carlson signs with Bears

The former undrafted tight end returns to an NFL roster.

Teams are giving players tryout opportunities, and one former member of the Cleveland Browns, tight end Stephen Carlson, has gotten his shot. While he hasn’t played in the NFL since tearing his ACL before the 2021 season, he got the opportunity to put his skills on display with the Chicago Bears as a participant in their rookie minicamp. After getting healthy, the undrafted free agent signing out of Princeton has signed with the Bears after working out during their rookie minicamp.

During his time in Cleveland, Carlson played in 25 games while catching only six passes for 62 yards and a touchdown. Carlson is a good athlete that tested well when he was coming out of college and will now have a chance to be a part of a most improved passing attack in Chicago with the moves made this offseason.

With the series tied a 1-1, the Golden State Warriors went to Crypto.com Arena in Hollywood to hunt for an all-important road win against the Los Angeles Lakers.

However, the Warriors’ road win wasn’t going to come on Saturday evening against the Lakers. Despite the Warriors starting strong in the first quarter, LeBron James and Anthony Davis arrived in a big way in the second quarter.

Behind a run to end the first half, the Lakers carried an 11-point lead into the locker room at halftime. In the third frame, the Lakers showed no signs of slowing down as they began to coast to a blowout win over the Warriors, 127-97.

Following the Lakers’ win on Saturday, they carry a controlling 2-1 lead in the second-round series against the Warriors. Before Game 4 on Monday, here’s some thoughts and things to know from Game 3.

NBA Twitter reacts to Lakers taking 2-1 lead with dominant win over Warriors in Game 3

After the Lakers grabbed a 2-1 lead in the series with a blowout win over the Warriors in Game 3, NBA Twitter fired away with reactions on Saturday night.

Following a dominant performance in Game 2, the Golden State Warriors picked up where they left off in Game 3 in Hollywood. Behind a fast start from Klay Thompson, the Warriors jumped to a seven-point before the start of the second quarter.

The Warriors extended their least to double-figures into the second quarter. However, the Warriors quickly went ice-cold while LeBron James and the Lakers came alive in the second frame.

With James and Anthony Davis heating up, the Lakers closed the second quarter on a 30-8 run. The Lakers outscored the Warriors 36-18 in the second quarter to take an 11-point lead into the break at halftime.

After the Lakers took command, the Warriors showed no signs of recovery in the second half of Game 3.

Davis tallied 25 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the floor with 13 boards while Davis and D’Angelo Russell each added 21 points as the Lakers coasted to a blowout win in Game 3, 127-97.

Steph Curry was the only member of the Warriors to score over 20 points with 23 on 9-of-21 shooting from the field. Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga were the only other members of the Warriors to register double-figure scoring numbers.

After the Lakers grabbed a 2-1 lead in the series with a blowout win over the Warriors in Game 3, the NBA community fired away with reactions on Twitter. Here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying on Saturday night.

Ohio State WR Caleb Burton announces transfer to Auburn

Burton, a former four-star WR, has chosen Auburn as his new home.

For the second day in a row, Auburn has landed a highly-touted transfer from the Big Ten Conference.

Friday, former Michigan State quarterback Payton Thorne announced that he would be committing to Auburn. Saturday, the Tigers filled another need by landing [autotag]Caleb Burton[/autotag], a former four-star wide receiver from the 2022 class who originally signed with Ohio State.

Burton was a highly-touted high school recruit out of Austin, Texas. As a high schooler, he was named an All-District receiver following his 9th and 10th grade seasons. He suffered a season-ending knee injury during his 11th grade season before reeling in 49 catches for 849 yards and a team-leading 15 touchdowns for Lake Travis his senior season.

Mark Russell of Buckeyes Wire sheds light on Burton’s brief time at Ohio State:

Burton was a highly touted prospect coming out of Austin, Texas Lake Travis High School. A four-star prospect, his ranking took a bit of a dip after suffering a season-ending knee injury during his junior season. Although an early enrollee, Burton did not see any action during his freshman season at OSU.

Browns receive B from NFL.com for their 2023 NFL draft haul

NFL.com only gave the Browns a B for their 2023 NFL draft haul… because of the trade for their quarterback

The Cleveland Browns have seen their 2023 NFL draft grades fall due to the trade for franchise quarterback Deshaun Watson a year ago. Whether fair or not, NFL.com was the newest site to spike an overall strong haul because of the trade for Watson that cost them their first round pick.

“Trades to acquire Deshaun Watson and Elijah Moore cost the Browns their first- and second-round picks but they did well with their third-round selections of Tillman (the pick coming back from the Jets in the Moore trade), a strong outside presence at receiver, and Ika, the space-eater inside that they needed.

Jones’ pure size makes him a promising swing tackle. McGuire provides some power as a backup defensive end. Thompson-Robinson played a lot of college football but still has upside to cultivate. Wypler’s value in the sixth round was too strong to pass on.”

The biggest takeaway here is that the majority of outlets, removing Watson from the equation, think the Browns pulled in quite a strong haul of players highlighted by Cedric Tillman and Siaki Ika.
