Texas A&M OL Remington Stickland has entered the Transfer Portal

According to the man himself, Texas A&M offensive lineman Remington Strickland has entered the transfer portal.

Texas A&M’s 2023 season, outside of the Aggies’ impending bowl game, has ended, and after the recent hiring of new head coach Mike Elko, a new era of Aggie Football has begun. With multiple staff changes already taking place, the transfer portal has begun to take shape concerning both departures and incoming additions.

After the news that quarterback Max Johnson and wide receiver Raymond Cottrell entered the portal, Johnson has already committed to North Carolina. At the same time, Cottrell has already received a ton of interest from various Power 5 programs. Joining both players, offensive lineman Remington Strickland has officially entered the portal after two seasons in College Station.

Strickland was a three-star recruit in the 2021 recruiting cycle, and after redshirting during the 2021 season, Strickland played in a total of nine games with zero starts. Playing at both center and guard in his last two seasons, progress was made in the offseason, but was passed up by several younger players in the process. Remington Strickland has two years of eligibility remaining.

Evan Stewart and Micah Tease headline Texas A&M’s wide receiver depth in Maroon and White game

Evan Stewart’s over-the-shoulder catch and Micah Tease’s 52-yard touchdown grab spotlight a promising Aggies receiver corps following Saturday’s Maroon and White game.

Team White may have fended off Team Maroon in a 33-19 win during Texas A&M‘s 2023 spring game, but everyone should walk away optimistic after seeing the receiving corps on display at Kyle Field on Saturday.

Evan Stewart (7 receptions, 97 yards, 1 lost fumble) and Micah Tease (3 receptions, 72 yards, 1 receiving touchdown) were by far the top performers of the day with each putting up respective highlight-worthy catches in the opening quarter. Stewart received a nice over-the-shoulder pass from quarterback Conner Weigman, while Tease had a catch of 52 yards from Max Johnson that put the White Team in the end zone first.

Ainias Smith (4 receptions, 67 yards, 1 touchdown) had a long reception in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter, which illustrates how an already talented receiving corps can only become more potent with the redshirt senior’s return. Raymond Cottrell (2 receptions, 22 yards) looked solid in the offensive scheme while Noah Thomas, unfortunately, saw his day cut short after leaving from a scary hit in the opening minutes.

The spring game is still an exhibition, so you never want to see those types of injuries at this time of year. It’s also key to note that Moose Muhammad III did not dress for Saturday’s game after managing to practice in just a limited capacity on Wednesday.

You can bet that Jimbo Fisher and Bobby Petrino have more than a few cards up their sleeves when it comes to the playbook, but it was still promising to see the offense line up in various formations that featured a handful of wideouts in motion.

This offense ranked just 101st in the country in scoring last season (22.8 PPG), so witnessing an injection of creativity will always be a welcome sight, even during spring ball.

Petrino has a track record of tailoring his offenses to his best players and with Stewart flashing his upside on Saturday, you can be sure that this offense will open up space for him to do damage against the second and third levels of the defense.

Seeing this receiving corps in action on Saturday should have Aggies fans eager for the 2023 campaign, but it doesn’t mean Fisher and this staff should stand pat during the transfer portal window that re-opened, coincidentally, on Saturday. With the likes of former USC receiver Gary Bryant potentially in the mix, A&M could add even more depth to this unit should they be aggressive in the coming weeks.

Texas A&M flips 4-star WR Raymond Cottrell from Georgia

Milton (Fla.) wide receiver Raymond Cottrell flips his commitment from Georgia to Texas A&M.

Texas A&M has added another four-star recruit to their 2023 class. Milton (Fla.) wide receiver Raymond Cottrell announced he’s flipped his commitment from Georgia to the Aggies on Monday.

Cottrell (6-foot-2, 203 pounds) is ranked No. 24 among receivers in his class and No. 148 nationally. He also had offers from 11 other programs, including Alabama and Florida.

In his Senior year he tallied 46 catches, 651 yards and nine touchdowns as a receiver. That’s far from his only contribution, though. Cottrell may be one of the most versatile prospects in his class – he’s also put in work as a rusher, a cornerback, a punter and a kick returner, too.

Cottrell told On3 he flipped to Texas A&M because of the atmosphere and coaching staff.

“The people man.. that atmosphere is crazy. I believe that Texas A&M has one of the best coaching staffs in college football. It’s just a work in progress. Also I wanted to play with Evan Stewart, excited to learn from him, and the other receivers that are also up there. I’ll be the fifth scholarship player there, and that gives me a chance to come in and make an impact off rip. Texas A&M is just all around great.”

That makes 19 members of the Aggies’ 2023 recruiting class, which ranks No. 12 in the country.

Texas A&M flips 4-star Georgia WR commit

The Georgia Bulldogs lost a commitment from class of 2023 wide receiver recruit Raymond Cottrell

The Texas A&M Aggies flipped class of 2023 wide receiver recruit Raymond Cottrell. Cottrell had been committed to the Georgia Bulldogs for quite some time, but he signed with Texas A&M according to one of his social media posts.

The four-star plays high school football for Milton High School in Milton, Florida. Cottrell ranks as the No. 148 recruit in the class of 2023. He is considered the No. 24 wide receiver in his class and one of the best recruits in Florida.

The 6-foot-2, 203-pound receiver has excellent size and is Texas A&M’s 19th commitment in the class of 2023.

Cottrell’s decommitment brings Georgia’s recruiting class down to 26 players. However, Kirby Smart and Georgia have signed three other wide receivers. Additionally, Georgia landed a pair of extremely talented receivers via the transfer portal: Rara Thomas and Dominic Lovett. Georgia has the No. 2 recruiting class in the country behind Alabama.

Twitter reacts: UGA football flips former 4-star Florida WR commit

Twitter reacts as Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs flipped class of 2023 wide receiver recruit Raymond Cottrell from Dan Mullen and UF

The Georgia Bulldogs have flipped four-star wide receiver recruit Raymond Cottrell from Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators. The Milton High School (Milton, Florida) wide receiver committed to Kirby Smart and UGA after a long conversation with his father.

Cottrell ranks as the No. 82 recruit in the class of 2023. He’s considered the No. 12 wide receiver in his class.

The 6-foot-2, 203-pound receiver has excellent size. He is Georgia football’s seventh commitment in the class of 2023. Cottrell joins fellow four-star wide receiver Daquayvious Sorey as Georgia’s two receiver commitments in the class of 2023.

Things aren’t looking pretty for Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators in recruiting. Florida has the 22nd-ranked class of 2022 at the moment. SEC East rival UGA has the second-ranked class in the country.

Here’s how Georgia Bulldogs Twitter reacted to Raymond Cottrell’s commitment to Georgia:

Florida football’s top commit in 2023 class flips to Georgia

Receiver Raymond Cottrell, the No. 85 player in the nation, is leaving Florida’s class for that of its biggest rival.

It’s been a rough go for the Gators in recruiting recently, and coach Dan Mullen has now lost yet another commit. Receiver Raymond Cottrell, the No. 85 player in the country per the 247Sports Composite and the highest-rated commit in Florida’s 2023 recruiting class, announced on Twitter that he would be decommitting from UF and flipping to rival Georgia.

“I appreciate the Gator Family for taking me in as one of their top 2023 commits,” Cottrell wrote. “The love and joy they have shown me has been unreal throughout this process.

“With all that being said, after a deep conversation with my Pops, I will be decommitting from (Florida) and I will be flipping to UGA. I understand that some people will be questioning my decision, but I know at the end of the day I have to do what’s best for my family and I. #GoDawgs.”

The 6-foot-2-inch Cottrell committed to the Gators on July 30 after attending a camp in June and the Friday Night Lights event. Cottrell took two unofficial visits to Florida earlier this fall in back-to-back weeks for the games against Alabama and Tennessee.

With his decommitment, the Gators only have three remaining players in their 2023 class: tight end Mac Markway (the only remaining top-100 commit), athlete Aaron Gates and receiver Darren Lawrence. The class now ranks eighth nationally, per 247Sports.

Cottrell is the fourth commit Florida has lost in just over a month, and that includes two of the top commits in the 2022 class in linebacker Shemar James and cornerback Julian Humphrey, both of which are now considered to be Georgia leans, as well.

The recruiting has been a problem under coach Dan Mullen, and there’s not really much of a sign of improvement in that regard at the moment.

Florida lands a commitment from this class of 2023 top 100 wide receiver

Four-star wide receiver Raymond Cottrell became one of three prospects to commit to Florida on Friday.

Friday Night Lights has already produced three commits for Florida and the event hasn’t even been over for 24 hours yet. Running back Terrance Gibbs, a four-star in the class of 2022, awarded the Gators his pledge Friday afternoon. After the event wrapped up, two more recruits teamed up with Florida — class of 2023 receiver Raymond Cottrell and class of 2024 running back Jerrick Gibson.

Cottrell said he knew over a month ago that he was a Florida Gator, but he wasn’t sure when he wanted to make the news official. He told wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales and recruiting assistant Chase Clark after camp that he was committed.

The Milton, Florida native is ranked as a four-star prospect and the 89th best player and the 13th best receiver in the class of 2023, according to 247Sports.

He added that Gonzales and current wide receiver Jacob Copeland were the primary reason why he committed. Copeland hails from the same part of the state as Cottrell. He also recognizes Gonzales’ ability to get his wideouts to the NFL.

Fans that follow recruiting are usually concerned that a player will still take visits and keep his recruitment open when they commit a year before they can sign their letter of intent. But Cottrell said 100% committed and won’t visit any other schools.
